Black light is a collection of short stories that expose the dark places within us that most people are afraid to look. It examines and highlights childhood, addiction, marriage, love, self loathing and other topics. My thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Exquisite snippets of unusual lives, some long, some short, all unsettling.I have never come across this author’s work before but I was very impressed. There’s a spareness about the writing where what isn’t spoken is as telling as what is spoken.

Intense, contemporary, memorable collection of short stories; both the plot and the prose of Kimberly King Parsons are sharp, whilst the themes of womanhood and loneliness on the margins of life are handled with acute sincerity and humour.

I made it about 4 stories in and completely abandoned this book.. It makes zero sense. The stories are a jumbled mess. I expected something completely different but what I got was a headache and annoyance.
