Maddie and Theo are best friends with Alexa. However their own relationship is best described as barely tolerable. When Alexa gets engaged she asks both of her best friends to be in her wedding party. They agree even though they hate knowing it means they will have to spend time together. At some point their relationship changes to lust/hate. Can they satisfy the lust without anyone finding out and ruining the wedding?

The Wedding Party is a fun, sexy story about how opinions can change once you get to really know someone. Guillory creates realistic, deep characters that readers are sure to love!

Thanks to #Netgalley, and the author and publisher of #TheWeddingParty for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy in return for an honest review.

Maddie and Theo have basically nothing in common, except for their best friend, Alexa. Despite this, they've managed to avoid each other over the years, until one random night they end up spending together.. Both hope they can pretend it never happened and keep hating each other like they did before, but with Alexa's wedding coming up and them both in the wedding party, they'll be around each other a lot more than they'd like. And their attraction for each other, as much as they'd like to deny it, makes it even harder. They end up deciding to have a secret fling, under the condition that it ends as soon as the wedding is done. But can Maddie and Theo really follow their own rules and not fall for each other?

Just as with Jasmine Guillory's preceding novels, I had an absolutely wonderful time with this book. Maddie and Theo were both secondary characters I loved when reading The Wedding Date, so it was so fun to revisit them as the protagonists of their own story. I always find the enemies-to-lovers trope pretty irresistible, and Guillory totally nailed it in this story. It has also been amazing, while reading the series overall, to see where the timelines of the different stories overlap, and it really feels like I'm getting to know not just a few characters, but the entire ecosystem of their community of friends and family.

So incredibly fun! I adore this series and it was so enjoyable to watch Maddie and Theo spar, like an updated Pride & Prejudice.

A delightful read! Maddie and Theo are the perfect enemies to lovers, and while they’re denying that they like each other, they are so sweet together.

I’m taking one star off only because the plot setup feels a little contrived, but I stuck with it because I liked them so much, and I enjoyed getting to catch up with the secondary characters in this world.

I absolutely loved The Wedding Date and The Proposal, so I was extremely excited to get to read an early galley of The Wedding Party! All of our favorite characters return in this novel and I think Jasmine Guillory turned up the heat even more... if that was even possible! There were definitely multiple times where I was blushing extremely hard! BUT, I absolutely loved this novel and I feel like I want to read it again because I flew through it so quickly.

TWP is definitely one of my favorite contemporary romance reads so far this year and it has me aching to read more from Jasmine Guillory! I think I may have to go back and read some of her early books to hold me over until she has another book come out. I would highly recommend this novel to readers who enjoy contemporary romance! I loved every second of it and can't wait for you all to read it in July! Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for sending this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I wish there were more male leads in books of any kind like Theo. The men I know in my life care about thing and get things wrong, rather than trying to be cool. Maddie could have been my friend in real life as well. Yay for real people as characters!

This was such a treat and SO SO delightful! I’ve already preordered my finished copy. I’m so hesitant to say this because I LOVED THE WEDDING DATE so much but this is my favourite Jasmine Guillory yet! The banter, the emotion, the vulnerability, the friendships!! UGH so good! I read it in one sitting and completely neglected all my responsibilities until I finished it. I think it’ll be even better by a pool or a beach when the book finally comes out in July. Oh, and if part of what you love about Guillory’s writing is her divine descriptions of food, you WONT be disappointed! THE WEDDING PARTY is the perfect summer rom-com!

The moment Maddie Forest and Theo Stephens met sparks flew – and not in a good way. Yet though they rub each other the wrong way, they are both best friends with Alexa Monroe. So when she needs them, Maddie and Theo put aside their differences for the sake of their friend. Except one night something happens and the simmering sexual tension that’s been lying in wait beneath their barbs boils over and Maddie and Theo wind up in bed together. Once they give into passion, it’s harder for them to resist the pull between them – especially since being in Alexa’s wedding party throws them together. Neither of them wants Alexa to find out, get her hopes up, then be crushed when Theo and Maddie inevitably break up, so they agree to a secret affair. Only the longer they spend in each other’s company, the more the two of them find out that the person they love to hate might just be the one they’re meant to love…

The Wedding Party is an enemies-to-lovers story at its finest. In Maddie and Theo’s romance Jasmine Guillory has delivered a story that’s sexy, sweet, funny, and just plain charming.

Maddie is the kind of heroine you wish were real so you could be friends with her. She’s bright, kind, funny, and loyal. She’s also a talented stylist working on building her business and I loved the peeks we got into her career. On the surface, Maddie comes off as more relaxed which is part of the reason she and Theo – a man she at first believes to be condescending – don’t hit it off when they first meet. Theo is the mayor of Berkeley’s press secretary and on the surface he’s straight-laced and unflappable. But though he’s focused and dedicated to his job, there’s so much more to him. Yes, Theo is the kind of man who makes margaritas from scratch (down to the simple syrup), but I loved that about him. I adored watching Maddie and Theo peel back one another’s layers and see that they’re not so different after all. The two of them just click in bed and out. Their slide from lust to love is seamless and simply lovely to watch unfold.

The Wedding Party is set in the same world as The Wedding Date and parts of Alexa and Drew’s story are woven through this book. But if you don’t mind some minor spoilers then Theo and Maddie’s story can be read as a standalone. The Wedding Party has all the things I enjoy about Ms. Guillory’s books: it’s fast-paced, fun, and the happily ever after leaves you smiling. Another aspect of this story that also appeared in The Wedding Date and The Proposal is that it features protagonists who are both focused on furthering their careers and each respects and supports the other’s work – I cannot express how much I love this. Every book I’ve read of Ms. Guillory’s I enjoy more than the last and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for readers.

!!! This was honestly exactly the book I needed this week. This week has been so long and stressful and it was so wonderful to decompress with this sweet story. I feel like Jasmine Guillory gets better which each passing book, but at the same time, by the end I wanted to start the series all over again! I'm head over heels for her characters, their romance, and all the delicious food they eat. They seriously seem like real people in certain instances, and I felt so sucked into the world and the story. One of Guillory's strengths is creating characters that are passionate about their jobs and have fully realized schedules/friends/families/lives outside of the romance. Even though you are getting sappy confessions, steamy scenes, and all the feels, you are also feel like you are living with these friends for a little bit, and you care about what they care about. My only, tiny, small critique? I could have used a touch more Carlos, but that was always going to be the case. I can't wait to pick up anything and everything Guillory writes, and highly anticipating her holiday romance novel!!!

I have loved all of Jasmine Guillory's books and The Wedding Party is no exception. Another fantastic and well written story full of wit and humor, and of course, a lot of wonderful romance.

Totally fun, wonderful follow up. Easy, breezy and bright. Guillory is really good at capturing the essence of her characters and charming the reader with them.

A very warm romance from Guillory, who excels at stories of interesting men and women and their reluctant journeys into love. Featuring: having to keep the hookups a secret, great clothes, steamy sex scenes, and giving a lot of time to the main characters' careers and their ambitions in life. The "we're both into each other but we'll lie to ourselves about how much" plot is not one for me, really, but I could still appreciate the storytelling. I wanted desperately for Maddie and Theo to order something other than pizza for their dinner trysts! TOO MUCH PIZZA. Unlike the pairings from the previous novels, both Maddie and Theo were conventionally gorgeous to the world with no self-consciousness about their appearance. Not saying that beautiful people can't be fun to read about, but I missed some of the insecurities that could deepen the characters' inner lives, especially as their flaws were then limited to occasional dickishness.

A little cheesy, but I gobbled it up in less than 24 hours nonetheless. As a huge fan of Jasmine Guillory, I unexpectedly found myself rooting for Maddie and Theo from the get-go!

I really enjoyed this book. I love that it’s #OwnVoices !
I wish there was a bit more in the romance parts. It felt a bit rushed during the intimate moments. But overall I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!

Guillory is back with her upbeat, contemporary stories of people of colour falling in love. Weaving in characters from her past books, this one focuses on Maddie and Theo, who have previously hated one another, so this is an enemies to lovers story.

Some of the writing irked me.. As with the Wedding Date, there is a huge focus on food - in this one, pizza. It was a bit cheesy (pun unintended), but entertaining. The characters were frustrating most of the time in my opinion.. They're both successful professionals but cannot communicate with one another to save their lives.

Overall, it's a cute and funny palate cleanser.

I just loooooove Jasmine Guillory’s books and was thrilled to receive this one! While I didn’t think I would be a huge fan of Maddie and Theo together, the story played out in such a sweet way and I could not put this book down, yet I didn’t want it to end! I just wanted to jump into their world and never leave. For fans of The Proposal, this will not disappoint! Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC!

Theo and Maddie refuse to get along because they have nothing in common. Well, except their mutual best friend who has asked them both to be in her wedding party. And after one drunken night, they realize they also have amazing sexual chemistry. But besides that, nothing. Right? But something keeps drawing them together, and maybe they can explore it. As long as their best friend doesn't find out.

Jasmine Guillory is the queen of modern romcoms. I love love love the universe of characters she has created and will keep reading every book about them I can get my hands on. I really enjoyed the tie-ins to The Wedding Date and The Proposal, but you can definitely still enjoy this book if you haven't read them. The ending was perfection, and as always, all of the food references made me super hungry. Overall, an enjoyable book with characters you really wish you could be friends with. I can't wait to read Royal Holiday about Maddie's mom!!!

I have read the first two books in this series and enjoyed them so I was really excited for this one. While I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the first two books in the series, it was still overall a good read. I really liked Maddie and Theo as characters in the previous books and was glad to explore their back stories a little more and to have them get together. I did feel like it was a bit predictable about what was going to happen.

For those hoping to see what happens with Alexa and Drew (from first book)- you'll be happy. For those hoping to see what happens with Carlos and Nik (from second book), you'll be disappointed because they're hardly mentioned!

As far as I know there won't be another book in this series but I really hope their is to continue on everyone's stories (especially Alexa and Drew!).

A definite fun time for fans of the author's previous books. What did seem a little odd was that, although there are plenty of explicit comments and language, all the sex was very much behind closed doors; if I remember, Susannah Nix's books fluctuated a bit looking for the right balance, but I don't remember this from reading /The proposal/. No problem, just felt a bit odd.

Jasmine Guillory did it again! Her fun dialogue and chemistry filled characters make reading this a pleasure. I smiled as I read and could not put it down until I was on the last page. I hope to see more from her soon!
