Technically, The Wedding Party is the third in Jasmine Guillory's series, following The Wedding Date (#1) and The Proposal (#2). However, it can be read as a stand-alone. It's not as stand-alone-y as The Proposal since Alexa and Drew (MC in The Wedding Date) are common characters in The Wedding Party, but readers who haven't read #1 and #2 won't be lost if they start with #3.

The Wedding Party covers, time-wise, the last several chapters of The Wedding Date and occurs concurrently with The Proposal (although in two different locations, so they characters only rarely intersect). It's an enemies-to-lovers romance between Maddie (Alexa's BFF) and Theo (Alexa's work BFF). Maddie and Theo set out to keep their booty calls a secret since it's destined to blow up in everyone's faces, but how successful will they actually be? And how successful will they be at keeping it to "just sex"?

While The Wedding Party doesn't have nearly as much sex (aka isn't as graphic) as #1 and #2, Maddie and Theo go at it like rabbits. Yet, there's also the emotional support that makes Guillory's stories so enrapturing for me; I can't help but root for these characters to successfully get together because they are compatible with one another for every single reason: physically, intimately, emotionally, intellectually. It's what we all want in a relationship!

I was so happy to reconnect with the characters in the previous books. Delightfully fun conclusion to an awesome romance trilogy.

I actually liked this one even better than I like The Proposal (though the meet-cute was better in The Proposal). I really enjoyed the way that this one happened concurrently with events from The Wedding Date and The Proposal instead of being a sequel (or prequel). Can't wait for whatever comes next from Jasmine Guillory!

So, when I saw that Jasmine wrote another book, I died. I was so damn excited, I don't think I've ever hit request so fast! Everything she writes is fun, sweet and includes more diversity than you can imagine, it's so, refreshing. This didn't disappoint. It's exactly what I was expecting but it left me wanting more. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next time!

Jasmine Guillory really hit her stride with her third novel, The Wedding Party. It's cute, funny, believable and really fun to read.

Wonderful love story. Filled with heat and sweet. Opposites attract as the friends of the bride to be help her navigate a wedding plan.
Theo and Maddie make a great couple but it takes them a while to figure that out. I enjoyed the ride.

The Wedding Party was such a great read.
Alexa is getting married and has asked her best friend Theo, and Maddie to both be in her wedding - but the thing is, they hate each other. Or do they? Theo comes off as a bit of an uptight bro, and Maddie is a freelance stylist, helping women look great with workplace and dodging weird fashion codes that no one understands. Though to Theo, "stylist" doesn't mean a lot to him. And she could care less about his smug face. Until fate, and a little dancing thrusts them together and they can't seem to let go.
It was kind of slow to begin with but it really came into it's own in time. Worth the read and the patience. to let the story and it's characters bloom. I wasn't crazy about the characters at first but I really came to love them and appreciate their flaws and their quirks. The character growth was so refreshing and great to observe from chapter to chapter. You could see the characters growing even if they could not.
I just want everyone to read Jasmine Guillory's books! They are so brilliant and entertaining! And amazingly diverse and full of larger than life characters that really bring joy and life to the page. I also really appreciate how there are no cliche normal girl-guy stereotypes in her books, and women in her books really stand up for themselves and they don't "need a man" or "have to fall in love". The lack of sexism is just refreshing! Men and women are treated equally, wow! How hard was that! Her books really have their own flair about them, I love that she has reoccurring characters in her books from other previous novels. And you don't have to read those, but it's so exciting to see how those characters are doing and catch up with them like old friends at a reunion. This book was gorgeously written, so hilarious, and honestly very touching at times. I love Jasmine Guillory!

Jasmine Guillory has officially turned me into a romance reader! I've devoured her first two books, and this one was just as good... Or maybe my favorite of the bunch? Probably.

Ms Guillory third novel . i am so blessed to be at the forefront of learning about her. In this novel Maddie(best friend of the heroine Alexa in (the wedding date) and Theo(Friends of heroine in the wedding date). First impression of each other five years previously did not go well. Fast forward to the present time where they meet up again at Theo's birthday party. In some strange coincidence Maddie gives Theo a ride home and . She goes in for a night cap and before you know it they are making out. They both realize there is serious chemistry between them. They decide to carryon a secret affair in secret and will stop it when Alexa wedding date comes around. As with this storyline sex turns into care and eventually love but neither party want to say the truth to each other. I love how the author incorporated the previous couples from her previous two books into the storyline. Ms. Guillory career continues to off to a rocket and speedy start. An awesome sweet addition to her books. Review on goodreads and amazon.com

A funny, fun follow up to Guillory's first two books. Great to revisit these characters and this world.

This book was received as an ARC from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was excited to read The Wedding Party due to being in the Wedding vibe myself getting married in a few months. As I read this book, the book that immediately jumped into my head was Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. The Wedding Party has many similarities to this book but the concept was executed in a much different way and went into a completely different direction than expected and that is what I liked most about this book. We all have had secret crushes but when it is your best friend and in this case, your worst enemy, you are in a bit of a dilemma and sometimes the best case scenario is to stay out but we all obviously know in these books, that is not going to happen. An action packed book filled with drama and romance that is a real page turner and I could not put it down.

We will consider adding this title to our Fiction/Romance collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

The Wedding Party is book three in the Wedding Date series. These books are sort of a cross between contemporary romance, romantic comedy, and Chick Lit.

This book is Maddie and Theo's book (3rd person POVs). Maddie is Alexa from the Wedding Date's best friend. And Theo works with Alexa.

This book is very connected to The Wedding Date as Alexa is in this book a lot.

Maddie is a stylist. Theo works for the mayor of Berkeley, Calfornia.

It took me a while to really get into this story. Even though I enjoyed the two previous books in this series I was uncertain what I thought about the timeline of this third book. There is a lot of overlap and repeat of scenes. I honestly think that it might have been better for the author to pick a different couple so that the story could start after The Wedding Date and The Proposal timelines. Instead we get a lot of scenes and scenarios that we have already seen. And Alexa is such a huge focus of this story. This almost feels like her book vs Maddie and Theo's book.

Near the beginning of this book we get to see Theo's birthday party (which we had already seen). Yes, we now got to see things from his POV. But to me it was very weird to have Alexa there (having a fight with Drew) when her story was already mostly completed in The Wedding Date.

I did prefer when the story went ahead weeks or months. I enjoyed seeing more of Maddie and Theo's careers. And there were some interesting twists and turns.

Overall, this was an enjoyable book. It was definitely nice seeing the characters from the previous books. But I definitely think that Alexa's story completely overshadowed this book. I like Alexa a lot. So it was great getting to see the continuation of her story. Just realize going in that that is one of the main focuses of this book.

Loved getting to see more of the characters from her past two books.! I didn't like this quite as well as The Wedding Date but still a great read.

As always, Guillory's writing is funny, sexy, and smart. Getting to revisit characters from The Wedding Date is an added bonus.

The Wedding Party is the third book from Jasmine Guillory focusing on a group of friends connected by love and friendship. This addition to the series does not disappoint for people who have enjoyed the previous titles in the series. Ms. Guillory features authentic, culturally diverse, flawed, and related characters again as she explores the story of Maddie and Theo (who we first met in The Wedding Date). Old favorites Alexa, Drew, Carlos, and Nik all make appearances in this fun, romantic story. If you've enjoyed the previous titles in this series, you'll enjoy this one as well. For those looking for realistic, modern romances, try this one.

Jasmine Guillory has done it again! The third book in the Wedding Date series, this book was just as steamy as the first two. Maddie and Theo, two of Alexa's best friends, hate each other, and they have sworn each other off. That is, until they sleep together, and then insist it's a mistake. The only problem is, neither can stop thinking about the other. Try as they may, Maddie and Theo can't keep their hands off each other. They keep seeing each other, but do it behind Alexa's back. They're convinced this will work forever, but something's gotta give!

So delicious and binge worthy! Maddie and Theo share a common best friend, but share a strong mutual dislik for each other. Their best friend's wedding forces a lot of together time with some fun consequences. This was flirty, steamy, and well-written. The "fling but no falling in love" trope is an oldie but goodie. I personally appreciated Maddie and Theo's Netflix and chill preference! This is sure to be a popular summer beach read!

Jasmine Guillory is becoming my favorite contemporary romance author and this book did not disappoint! I fell in love with Theo & Maddie when I first met them in "The Wedding Date" and I was so happy to finally see their story play out!
Theo & Maddie are complete opposites in just about everyway. At their first meeting they are rude to one another (not because they are mean people but because they don't know who to act around one another) and that sets the tone for the how they interact in the future. After a night of celebrating and drinking they end up in bed together and are shocked to find that they are compatible in several different ways; determined to hide their new relationship from Alexa and her nosy questions they embark on something that is hidden. The longer they hide their relationship, and the more their feelings grow for each other, the harder it is to keep one step ahead of Alexa but more importantly the less they begin to like themselves.

Maddie has been Alexa's best friend forever and will do anything for her. Theo has been Alexa's best friend since they started working together in the mayor's office. Maddie and Theo hate each other... or do they? Maddie and Theo agree to have a secret fling, if only to rid themselves of the attraction they have for each other. But, they agree it must be kept a secret from Alexa and that they end it as soon as Alexa's wedding is over. But things aren't ever that simple. I really enjoyed The Wedding Party- it was light and fun and a great read. I enjoyed seeing Alexa and Drew from The Wedding Date as they move towards their wedding, although I wish there was more of Nik and Carlos from The Proposal. Guillory's writing improves with each book and I look forward to reading more from her.

I enjoyed hanging out again with Ms. Guillory’s characters from her previous books. While I still enjoyed the story and romance this time around, I did want to shake her characters because they kept jumping to ridiculous conclusions about the others’ feelings. The book was still full of enough joy and spirit that I read it quickly and enjoyed the end.
