I absolutely love everything Jasmine Guillory writes, and I was so excited to read the ARC of this book because I didn't think I could wait til July to read this story. This book was so much fun!! I definitely laughed out loud a lot. I loved Maddie and Theo and the ways they grew to support and love each other. It was also great to see Alexa and Drew get married and to see Nik and Carlos again at the end.

I enjoyed learning more about these two characters who we've seen in the other two books in this series. Their chemistry was great and it was fun to revisit the other relationships we've seen as well.

I liked the story, but there were some continuity/timeline issues. And, they ate WAY too much pizza, like a ridiculous amount of pizza. Plus, I felt like Alexa played too much of a leading role. And, Alexa and Olivia we're very whitewashed.

It’s still snowing here but this kept me warm. Jasmin Guillory writes pretty steamy novels that aren’t my usual style but the stories and characters are so compelling. This one comes out in July and it’s going to be popular!

Jasmine Guillory is my new favorite author. I devour her books in usually a couple of sittings. She is a great, quick read. Her character development is amazing. The sex scenes are very descriptive. Another well done romance starring multicultural believable characters of various different body types.

Very cute. I still think her best book is The Proposal, but this is a close second to that. I really loved the heroine in this one. She was really interesting, and the way this all drew to a close really worked for me.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the digital ARC!

I greatly enjoyed Jasmine Guillory's 3rd novel that tells the story of Alexa's best friends first mentioned in book 1 of the series. The main characters were flawed...but knew it and worked through their flaws with each other.

Another stellar book from Jasmine Guillory! Theo & Maddie = my OTP. Guillory is so good at writing characters that I fall so deeply in love with. They are real and flawed and totally lovable. I cannot wait for books from Guillory.

When I read the description of this book, I was eager to read it. Because books are not just my hobby, but my job, sometimes I like to set aside the middle grade and young adult, and pick up a cozy romance read, and if the main character migrate from enemies to lovers, all the better!!

The Wedding Party had great bones. We've got two people who can't stand each other, but they share a best friend (never read a book with that particular twist). Maddie, a personal shopper, thinks that Theo is pompous and conceited. Theo knows that he didn't portray himself in the best light when he met Maddie, but doesn't think there's much he can do about it now. When Maddie and Theo end up in bed together, they're both kind of horrified. After a second "encounter" they decide that they can continue their sexual realtions, as long as they don't tell their best friend Alexa (who is the protagonist in Guillory's first book in this series The Wedding Date).

As expected, the more time Theo and Maddie spend together the more their feelings for each other grow. Then begin to spend time together as friends, not just lovers. I loved the concept, it's like... the bullet points of the this book were LOVELY. Meet at birthday party, meet at engagement party, margaritas in the backyard, wedding dress shopping for the best friend, lost keys with no one else to call, this book rang all the right bells.

My struggle with the book was the writing. And let me say I'm not a writer. I have no aspirations of publishing my own book, I'm a Librarian and that's all I want to be. But the writing was... all over the place. I felt like I was reading the first draft of a book and the author didn't do any proof reading. There were passages such as "Refill? My mom insists on doing a toast, so everyone needs some champagne to be prepared." It just doesn't roll of the tongue, it doesn't feel organic. Something like " 'Refill? My mom insist on doing a toast,' Alexa sighed rolling her eyes and reaching for another bottle of champagne."(Again, not a writer) Or how about "They kissed, and kissed, and kissed..." I mean there had to have been another way, even if we stopped after the first kiss. There's a section in the book where (spoiler) Theo gives Maddie a key to his apartment and tells her she's welcome to let herself in. Her response is "Okay, sure, I anticipate a lot of 'I need to get into Theo's apartment or else the dinosaur on the loose might capture me' emergencies." I understand what was suppose to happen here, that was suppose to be a quirky, sassy, cute comment, but it just didn't work for me.

Like I said above, I did get this book from Netgalley, so it hasn't been published, but this is the first Netgalley book I've ever gotten where I read sentences like the ones I mentioned above. There was a section of the book where a protest got out of control and someone was attacked. Maddie, our main character, has with random mental aside, amidst the chaos that immediately takes me out of the action of the scene. It didn't fit, it wasn't appropriate

I recognize that I might be one of the few people who didn't fall head over heals for this author and book series, but trust me, I wanted to. I want nothing more than a cozy romance with two black characters. Roxanne Gay reviewed a book in this series and gave it a high star rating, so feel free to ignore this review if you want to, but I was give a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and this is what I've got.

This review will go live on March 4.

I did not like this one as much as Guillory's other two. That is not to say that I disliked it! I enjoyed it, and thought the characters were fun and loved the ending. I just found the beginning a little muddled. The enemies-to-lovers trope is a hard one because you have to transition in a way that makes you believe both parts were true, and I just found the scene where they first get together a little wooden - it didn't connect for me. That said, I find Guillory to be a fun writer and contemporary romance is probably the hardest genre for me that I actively read because I don't suspend disbelief in contemporaries well, so this is really probably more of a 3.5.

This is going to be another hit! How does she keep doing it ? It is just amazing how she ties all the characters in and doesn't make it feel like you're reading through a list of descriptions of people you already know and characters you already like and love.
I'm excited to see what else this author puts out and I recommend reading the first and the second and this book as well.

Thanks to Berkley and NetGalley for providing this eARC!

I just love Jasmine's books so much. Also, Jasmine herself is seriously charming (follow her instas!). I got to see her last week at an event in Austin and came home to this ARC in my emails - what a lucky girl!

This book follows Alexa's best friends, Maddie and Theo, who have never liked each other. Buuuuut, then they sleep together after Alexa's birthday party AND are repeatedly thrown together as part of Alexa's titular wedding party. They keep promising that they'll go back to being just frenemies after the wedding, but will they?!?!?

As always with Jasmine's books, the characters are all really likable. I want to hang with them and eat pizza, and I do get really invested in their happiness! I also love that she makes work really important to her characters (like Maddie's personal styling business). It is one of the things that makes her books feel so real.

These stand with Helen Hoang's books as some of the loveliest contemporary romances. These books' sweetness seriously helps me de-stress, and I'll always be grateful to Jasmine for them!

Theo and Maddie rub each other the wrong way but they both are really good friends with Alexa so they are constantly thrown together. One night something happens and things change between them and they can't keep their hands off of each other. A story of friendship and being brave enough to admit how you really feel. Fans of the Wedding Date and the Proposal will enjoy this story and the characters from the other books are in this book too.

I love everything Jasmine Guillory does. I highly recommend her books, especially for those new to the romance genre who aren't sure if it's for them yet. Her books, this one included, read like romcoms (though romcoms tend to gloss over the sex, which Guillory does not do). This book is more fulfilling if you've read her other two - characters make appearances - but it is by no means necessary to have read them to enjoy this one. However, you should read them because they are fantastic.

This book is a great entry into the "I hate you but I can't stop thinking about you" canon. What's great about this book, though, is that neither of them are bad people. They misread each other at first, and have some trouble communicating initially, but no one is emotionally abusive or toxic.

This book is a delight, and I can't wait to read what's next from Jasmine!

A great love/hate romance with strong, believable characters. We need more romances that represent people of color, and this one had me breathless!

The third of Guillory's books doesn't disappoint. I enjoyed spending pages watching Maddie and Theo fall in love with each other without realizing it was happening, and yelling at them to hurry up and figure it out. Guillory's Bay Area is populated with smart, funny people who are great at meeting their true loves and I'd love to visit it someday.

I just love Jasmine Guillory. She is a great new voice in contemporary romance. The Wedding Date and The Proposal were wonderful and I enjoyed The Wedding Party as well.

With Theo and Maddie you have the common first meeting with misconceptions, annoyance to romance trope, secret relationship with a deadline date (this time the deadline is until Alexa’s wedding) and casual hook-ups to serious relationship; all the while having pride and miscommunication get in the way of lasting love. I have seen this “recipe” in many a romance, but Guillory makes it all fresh and modern.

I especially loved that Theo and Maddie’s story played out against the backdrop of Alexa and Drew’s wedding planning. You don’t need to read Guillory’s previous books to enjoy this book, but you are going to want to.

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for the ARC

The Wedding Party is the third book in Jasmine Guillory's series that began with The Wedding Date - I'm not sure why these books aren't marketed or labeled as a series/companion novels as there is so much overlap and reference to the couples in the friend group. Books 1 and 3 have the same cover style to indicate the connection, but book 2 has a completely different looking vibe to it - it makes no sense from a consumer stand point, let alone for booksellers that don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of every book in the store - help your foot soldiers out, publishers!
.
At any rate, lets look at the content of the story. Alexa and Drew from the first book are getting married, and Maddie and Theo have been drafted into Alexa's wedding party - and they don't get along due to an initial social faux pas/overreaction during their first meeting. The book starts off with them hooking up, not so drunkenly, after Maddie is enchanted by Theo's dance moves. The story hits the expected rom com points from there, but with a decent amount of focus on Maddie and Theo's career aspirations, so they come off as well rounded.

This series doesn't shatter the mold, but that isn't really what the romance section is for - and really, what I like is the representation Guillory puts into her books, minority rep that is glaringly absent from in the rows of bookshelves in this section at work. I will continue to recommend her books, especially to those new to the genre, as they aren't particularly explicit and offer a bit more emotional heft.

Thank you to the publisher, via NetGalley, for providing me with a copy of The Wedding Party for review.

Jasmine Guillory has hit another home run with her newest book, The Wedding Party. Maddie and Theo share a best friend in Alexa (from an earlier book The Wedding Date) and can’t stand each other. Of course, being a bridesmaid and a “brideman” means they can’t avoid each other and, as they get closer, they realize that their first impressions weren’t right. Guillory’s stories are perfect escapism reading. Her characters are smart, funny people who screw up, freak out, break up, and make out. Her book isn’t just appointment reading, I’m going to throw it a (Wedding) Party!

Jasmine Guillory did it again! I just love how she portrays characters with flaws but makes them still so lovable! The end was a little drawn out in my opinion which knocked off a star, but I still loved the entire book and read it in almost one sitting. I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next, Hopefully Olivia's story!!!
