Finn is the nanny for a politically ambitious family. When a strange woman approaches Finn with a shocking secret about the family, Finn gets tangled up in the dangerous web of lies and deceit of both the woman and the family she works for.

I was drawn to this well-paced story and invested in the outcome from start to finish. I found Finn’s character to be admirable, courageous and intelligent and I really liked how she handled the terrible predicament she found herself in. This also had a nice, unforeseen twist at the end, which topped the book off successfully.

This is another slow-burning thriller that really didn't do it for me. With the pace of the book, I expected something explosive to finally come about, which didn't happen. It was just entirely slow paced and honestly boring. I didn't relate to any of the characters so I felt really detached to the entire read. Definitely just not a book for me!

Looking for an easy beach read? One that you don't need to concentrate too hard while reading? Fun to read and keeps you wondering? This is your book. Sometimes I don't want a book that requires me to think deeply- sometimes I just want to escape into a thriller. This was exactly that. The pros are its a quick fun read. Cons- Finn is a little too dumb and naive sometimes. As the reader I found myself saying, "Seriously?" I did like the way the author ended the book.
I give this a 3.5 although Netgalley doesn't let me do that on the official rating.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an eARC of this book.

The premise sounds familiar but the plot turns out to be unique with interesting twists and turns to keep one guessing. Well written for the most part but becomes too long and drawn out and tedious.
The characters are well developed but not very likable except for the kid. The ending was a stretch. Nonetheless, I rather liked it and would read the author again.

Finn Hunt is a woman with a complicated and secretive past. After graduating from college and, unable to find a job in interior design, she becomes a nanny for a politician’s family. Or, more precisely, the son and daughter-in-law of a powerful politician. Finn adores the little girl in her care and she is thrilled to be treated as part of the family. But, as the story progresses it becomes obvious that she isn’t the only one who is harboring secrets.

Girl in the Rearview Mirror is a debut novel by Kelsey Rae Dimberg. The premise of the book sounded interesting, however the book was somewhat of a disappointment. All of the characters were unlikeable, except for the 4 year old, and it was difficult for me to feel any sympathy or connection with any of them. Finn, in particular, was off-putting. While she told herself she was interested in helping the family, she was really just a busybody, who stalked the family in numerous ways. Later, when she discovered wrongdoing, some of her actions were difficult to understand. In many places the story moved very slowly and it was painful to observe Finn trying to justify her behavior.

With that said, it is still obvious that Ms Dimberg is a talented writer. With a different plot line I believe she would be outstanding and I would be more than willing to read another book by her. For that reason I would give Girl in the Rearview Mirror 2.5 stars but will round it up to 3 stars.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

A political drama that will keep readers guessing. How far will a person go to keep a secret? This novel is a bit extreme but is entertaining. I liked that Finn was so emotionally involved with Amabel that she wanted to find the truth. I found that most of the characters were distant and uncaring. This make readers wonder how far politicians will go to get re-elected. Recommended.

When I read the description of this book, it reminded me of a Lifetime movie. Since I happen to love the suspense and sometimes outrageous events in these, I decided to give this book a shot. Like others have mentioned, the book starts off a bit slow. The first half of the book is much different than the second half (and I cannot tell you why without revealing spoilers). Overall, I enjoyed this book but do not believe it quite matched the vision in my head of a Lifetime movie. There is a bit of mystery, lots of suspense, and a good bit of unknown. At times, it was hard for me to follow Finn (the main character) and her thought process. At other times, I missed some of the implied events and actions. I recommend this title for those who enjoy a mystery and secrets but don't mind a slow story with an unexpected ending.

***I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley, thanks to them and HarperCollins Publishers for allowing me to read this novel before publication***

I really liked this book, for the most part.....halfway through it took a tragic turn, and it made me rather depressed and dampened my interest in finishing. I think what I liked the most was the author's writing style. The book flowed well and was not one that was hard to follow. I honestly can't say I.really liked any of the characters - not even the story's protagonist, Finn (or Natalie). I didn't like her secretive nature, or the fact that she had previously had some interest in her boss, who was a married man. I couldn't stand the senator, who put his career and ambitions above his family, and essentially at the cost of his granddaughter's life. I found parts of this book a bit depressing and frustrating, but never was it boring or uninteresting.... I would absolutely recommend it to our customers.

A prominent political family hires a nanny who gets drawn into deadly lies in this stunning debut thriller with the twists and suspense.
They are handsome Philip Martin, son of the sitting Senator, who appears destined to step into his father's seat when the time is right; his wife Marina; and their four-year-old daughter Amabel, spoiled and innocent.

When a young woman approaches Finn, claiming a connection with Philip and asking Finn to pass on a message, Finn becomes caught up in a web of deceit with the senate seat at its center. And Finn isn't exactly innocent herself: she too has a background she has kept hidden, and under the hot Phoenix sun, everything is laid bare. . . .

This one was okay. I really didn't like Finn. She had a very strong stalker vibe that I found off putting. It wasn't even her being a detective as much as it was her being a busy body. I know she had a thing for Phillip but her getting involved in his potential scandal was just plain odd. I thought the mystery was a bit too convoluted and not particularly engaging.

I think I had such a hard time with this because everyone turned out to be lying sociopaths. If you have no one to root for then there is not much to keep the reader invested.
