I didn't think I was going to love this book as much as I did. My poor little heart got caught right up in Margot and Alex and was genuinely sad at the thought they may not get together. I loved both Sunshine AND Margot and found their relationship so utterly relatable. I was caught up in each of their stories and wished I could be friends with them in real life. Worth picking up!

This was my first time reading Susan Mallery, though I had heard a lot of great things. I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed!

The main characters are fraternal twin sisters Margot and Sunshine. The rest of the primary characters are Bianca, who is Margot's client; Alec, Bianca's son; Declan, Sunshine's boss; and Connor, Declan's son.

Of all the characters, I connected to Sunshine the most. I absolutely adored Sunshine and felt all of her angst through issues with men, school, and life in general. She is haunted by her past and wants to move forward in a new life, desperately afraid of making the same mistakes again. I understood all of her motivations and was cheering for her to succeed!

I didn't connect as much with Margot. While I liked her as a character and understood most of her motivations, I felt she came across a little strict and judgemental at times. I don't think she meant to be judgemental, but some of her reactions were definitely there. Especially when dealing with Bianca.

Another character I adored was Declan. He has his own ghosts from the past and is trying to move past them. He is a truly good man, but a little out of touch with women and how to deal with them. He is working to overcome his hurt and struggles with some of his interactions with Sunshine. Most of all, he is a great father, which is one of the sexiest things a man can be in my opinion.

Alec is a bit closed off and all about control. I understood his motivations the least of everyone. He tries to keep everything, including his relationships, in neat little boxes. He's afraid to show strong emotion and sees it as a weakness. His relationship with Margot is a little lopsided.

Bianca is amazing and I love her. Of Margot's storyline, she is by far my favorite character. She is outgoing, strong, independent, and a little bit crazy. On the surface she seems a little out of control, but there are so many layers and depths to her, that she brings the others alive.

And then there's Connor. He is a sweet, intelligent, adorable little boy who has both his dad and Sunshine wrapped around his little finger. I wanted to adopt Connor and take him home with me.

All in all, these characters interact and mingle to create a wonderful story that I truly enjoyed. I look forward to trying more from Susan Mallery in the future.

I enjoyed reading this book because as the title says it is about two sisters. They both wanted to change and it was interesting to see how the events in the story helped them to do so. I was intrigued by the setting of Alex's house being a monastery and all of his curiosities and collections. I was pleased it had a happy ending and recommend this book to be read.

The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is a stand-alone women's fiction book by Susan Mallery. Mallery is most know for her romance series, but has broken into the women's fiction genre over the last several years and this new book won't disappoint.

What I truly like about this book, is there are several story lines all occurring at the same time, but intertwined perfectly. I don't know how Mallery does it. We get Sunshine and Margot, sisters who haven't had the best of luck, but band together always. We get Margot and her troubled new client that proves to be a huge challenge for Margot. We get Margot and her client's son who is also a challenge. And we get Sunshine and her new boss trying to stay professional, but failing.

There is so much happened in this book, it's hard to put down. You won't regret picking this one up as your next read.

Although I did finish this book rather quickly, I did not really like it. The Kindle format of the book wasn’t organized all the well. I felt that the book was a little all over the place and at parts a little exaggerated. Bianca’s mom starving, locking her in a closet, and beating her??? It was a very small part in the book that was kind of brushed over (literally just the last few pages). Declan asking Sunshine to marry her right away and her agreeing and asking for kids? I just found myself thinking that a lot of the storyline wasn’t realistic.

4.5 stars.
This was a really fun and interesting book to read.
I liked all the characters, Alec's mother was a little annoying here and there but she kind of grew on me.
I adored Connor though, he and his ant farm was so funny and adorable.
Sunshine and Margot were nice characters and they had such character devolepment, both of them.

I love everything that is Susan Mallery and this book was the bees knees. It made me cry although I don't think that was intentional!! It made me laugh hysterically and it gave me that heartwarming feeling just as I was finishing it up. The characters were so true to life and I fell in love with them. This is definitely a read that will leave you wanting more of her books!!

This book was such a fun read! Two sisters, twins, very different in looks but not so different in their big hearts, how they care for others, and bad luck in the romance department. Margot is successful at what she does - though I don't know what to call it. She teaches people how to behave in situations where they may not have any experience - usually business-wise. Her new client is an older famous actress who has been known to be a little outrageous and is engaged to a diplomat from another country. Very much in love, she does not want to embarrass him at social engagements or worse yet, get him fired. She has a son, Alec, who has grown up successful himself, but unlike his mother, likes his world controlled and well-maintained.

The other sister, Sunshine, is a nanny that is always successful in connecting with the children she cares for, but tends to disappear from their lives when the new flavor of the month comes along - so she is not very reliable, and not successful in romance. Her current client is a single dad Declan, with a young son Connor. They hit it off very well as Sunshine is trying to change her ways.

Two pretty sisters, two eligible single men, and of course love will be on the horizon. There are some upsets and roadblocks and some humorous situations (gotta love Bianca - Alec's mom) and it is overall a very entertaining read. Would be great for taking to the beach or on vacation.

A lovely novel by Susan Mallery as always. Well written, great plot and characters you want to laugh and cry with. What more could you want.

This book was great. I loved the contrast between the sisters . I toroughly enjoyed the pageant competition from the point of view of the contestant. It seems as though Ms Mallery continues to improve & evolve as a writer with her books getting better & better!

I've read all of Susan Mallery's Mischief Bay novels, as well as California Girls and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. So I knew that I had nothing to lose from reading The Summer of Sunshine and Margot, even though the synopsis didn't initially grab me. However, the story itself grabbed me right away and held my attention the entire time.

I really liked all four main characters, as well as Bianca and Connor. I found myself smiling often, as well as worrying for the characters when something didn't go right. It was nice hearing the men's perspectives alongside those of Sunshine and Margot. There were some steamy scenes that were rather entertaining to read.

Overall, this was a sweet story and I enjoyed every moment I got to spend reading it. The only drawback was that the title didn't fit so well, since they were leading up to the summer more than it actually taking place during that time. That wasn't a deterrent for it being a great beach (or anytime) read!

Movie casting suggestions:
Sunshine: Hayden Panettiere
Margot: Rebecca Rittenhouse
Declan: Michiel Huisman
Alec: Sam Page
Bianca: Michelle Pfeiffer

Sunshine and Margot are fraternal twins trying to fin happiness in life. Margot is avoiding her old boyfriend who derails her life from time to time and Sunshine is trying to start over and get a degree. ARC.

This is an enjoyable summer read focusing on two sisters who are fraternal twins but not really alike except in both having their own difficulties finding true love. Needless to say, that changes with this story. For some reason, I preferred the journey of Sunshine and Declan, although Margot and Alec certainly had their moments. The secondary characters like Declan's son, Connor, and Alec's flamboyant movie star mother, Bianca, added considerably to the plot and developing romances. This women's fiction title is recommended.

I have not even finished this book. I received a copy of this book to read, and I just could not get into it. It was so slow, and I just could not connect with the characters. It just seemed to be all over. I usually love susan mallery books, and I collect all of them. But I won't be adding this one to my collection.
I will update this when I finally decide to finish it!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

This book has a good premise and has the potential to be a great summer read for some people. It just didn't work for me.

This book is about fraternal twins Sunshine and Margot. They were left by their mother at a young age and were raised by their great-grandmother who was a pageant coach.

Sunshine is a nanny to a wonderful boy named Connor who recently lost his mother. Sunshine is the first nanny that Connor has ever liked and the two quickly form a close bond. Sunshine has had a string of relationships that left her feeling empty. Now she wants to find a lasting relationship and is going back to school to make something out of herself. Connor's father Declan is coping with the loss of his lifelong partner. He has an important job that can get very hectic at times and is just getting to know Sunshine.

Margot is an etiquette consultant who teaches her clients how to behave in professional situations. Her latest client is an actress named Bianca who is about to marry a diplomat and wants to change her ways because she's worried her behavior could cost him his job. She has to move into Bianca's house for the 2 months that she'll be coaching her. Bianca lives with her son Alec in a beautiful house that was previously a monastery. There are a lot of ancient texts and artifacts. Alec is very introverted, set in his ways and believes that his mother can't change but seems intrigued by Margot.

The story is told in multiple perspectives. I liked both Margot and Sunshine's POVs but I didn't care for Declan and Alec's. Their perspectives kind of took me out of the story because I was trying to connect with the main female characters. I didn't really care about being in Declan and Alec's heads. The writing style felt very simplistic and I personally couldn't connect with it.

Not one of Susan Mallery's best but nevertheless, and enjoyable summer read. The two sisters took a little while to grow on me, but by the end of the book, I was solidly in their corners. I also thought the plot dragged at times and it was very predictable, but it held my interest most of the time. A good beach read.

I enjoyed this story of two very different sisters and their love interests although I didn't feel that it was up to Susan Mallery's high standards. I felt that it seemed slow and very predictable. I did like the characters very much but it seemed to be lacking in plot. That being said, I would still recommend it to my friends. Any book by Susan Mallery is going to be better than most other books by most authors.

I love Susan Mallery. I did not love this book. I did enjoy it, but it also bored me at times. It was a super easy read without lot of excitement. I felt it was predictable. Summer and Margot are twins who are nothing alike.

Thank you Harlequin and Netgalley for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.
