Susan Mallery has a knack for writing books that you just hate to put down once you've started. This latest novel features twin sisters that are almost polar opposites but yet still very much the same. Sunshine and Margot realize they come from a long line of women that have not been successful in love. And so far neither have they, but both realize they need to change their own lives before they can ever hope to find love. While there is an element of romance to the story, I would classify this more as women's fiction than romance since it is not the central focus. However, readers will still enjoy the HEA both sisters are able to achieve even as they both make fundamental life changes.

This novel takes place over a few months. Margot and Sunshine are fraternal twin sisters, raised by a grandmother, who has since passed away. Margot has gone to college and used her people skills and her love of travel to become an etiquette coach. She is particularly good at helping people adjust to new cultural situations. She has just been hired by Bianca, an older actress, well-known for her spontaneous and inappropriate behaviour that is engaged to a diplomat from a small European country. Bianca wants to make this relationship work. Meanwhile, she is living with her son Alec, an academic with an interest in history who has made a home of an historic monastery. Bianca wants Margot to live in while she coaches her.
Margot finds the monastery fascinating and uses her off time to explore the building and the grounds. She also becomes friendly with Alec.
While successful, Margot has a weak spot for her old boyfriend, a man who has dumped her repeatedly, but keeps coming back expecting to resume where he left off. Margot is determined that he won't be in her life again, but with a family history of women making bad relationship choices, she isn't hopeful for a better relationship.
Sunshine didn't go to college, finding herself easily diverted from her goals by the interesting men she's met along the way. She's had a spotty career as a nanny, making great connections with the children, but often leaving everyone in the lurch when someone attracts her interest. She too, is determined to stay the course in her new position as nanny to eight-year-old Connor. She's also determined to get her college degree, signing up for her first course. Connor's father Declan is worried about his son as the two recover from the relatively sudden death of Connor's mother from cancer. He has a busy career as a landscape architect, and needs some stability in his son's life. Sunshine and Declan prove to be sounding boards for each other as they each move forward in their lives.
This was a fun read, and I liked the relationship between the sisters, which was close without being cloying.

I just realized that I love Susan Mallory's writing! I've been reading her books off and on, but this book made me sit up and pay attention to how much I enjoy her stories. Sunshine and Margot are so well written that I would have happily kept reading about them long after Mallory put her pen down (or turned off her computer!)

'm at the point in the school year where it's tough to focus on much of anything. And I'm not even the least little bit in the mood to try to stretch my focus. So a Susan Mallery book is perfect to read. The story is sensual and the characters are well written. Although I find it a stretch to believe that Margot and Sunshine are even the least little bit related, much less twins. As always, Mallery's settings are lovely and they leave me wanting to visit these fictional places. And, not a spoiler, it is hard to imagine a Susan Mallery novel that doesn't have a happy ending. Add this book to your beach/pool bag.

3.5 stars, rounded up.

Another great book by Susan Mallery. This is the story of 2 sisters- Margot who helps people figure out how to fit in to certain cultures, even though she isn’t that good doing it herself I. Her personal life and Summer who is trying to change her life and the way she has done relationships in the past while being a nanny. Both stories are good in addition to getting 2 love stories. Definitely worth the read.

I loved this book. Mallery knows how to tell a great story. Both Margot and Sunshine were great leads and their strength just wowed me. Their men were great too. You could see them grow into the relationship and bring it together.

I've always enjoyed Susan Mallery's style, especially when she writes romance. When it comes to women's fiction it's a bit different. The writing is still good but she usually goes a little dark.
This particular book reads as two romances in one. Not much is explored regarding the sisters relationship.
Both meat men and fall in love. It was sweet.
Well expect for the part with Declan and Sunshine (the dark part I mentioned earlier). There is something he does (that SM would never include in her regular romance-labelled books but that she loves in her women's fiction) that I truly hated and it pretty much spoiled Sunshine's storyline.
Why why why ???
Otherwise the book was pretty nice. It just left a bad after taste in my mouth.

THE SUMMER OF SUNSHINE AND MARGOT by Susan Mallery is a unique story of sisters looking for love! Sunshine and Margot wanted to change their lives. This story is about making those changes. As with anything Susan Mallery writes this is a five 🌟 read!

This is a strong characterization of two sisters and their life choices. The ability to change one's life and learn to make better choices, while hard, is not impossible. They both chose men who were unlike any other that came before.

As always, Susan has pulled from real life and come out on top. It was a very enjoyable HEA story.

This book was gifted to me by the publisher in return for an honest review.

This novel needs to go on everyone’s summer read list!! The Summer of Sunshine and Margot centers around sisters (fraternal twins) Summer and Margot Baxter, who have both been very unlucky in the love department. The Baxter sisters are looking to make changes in their personal lives so ultimately they will stop picking Mr. Wrong and finally find Mr. Right!

I have enjoyed every single novel I’ve read from Susan Mallery, but this could be my absolute favorite standalone from her! I connected with the characters immediately and because of that fact, I was so excited to see where Susan would take them! My favorite part about Susan Mallery is the way she combines the women’s fiction and romance genres seamlessly!!! The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is perfect summer read- great storyline, awesome characters, and not heavy or dark! I most definitely recommend this book to everyone!

This book is a pleasant quick read. It focuses on two very compatible but different sisters, -Margo and Sunshine, and their pursuit of love. Both sisters seem to feel that they are doomed in the love department. Sunshine has had several nanny positions which she has abandoned on a whim whenever she thought that she had fallen in love. At the start of the book, Sunshine is determined to break her past cycle and go back to school while being a Nanny for Connor who is a very cute and almost too good to true child. Romance comes in the form of Connor's father Declan, who is also resisting the urge to get back into the dating scene after the death of his unfaithful wife. On the other end of town, Margo who is an etiquette coach is starting to fall for the son of her current client. who is an aging attention seeking movie star. Alec is a bright but closed off man who does not like messy emotions. I enjoyed the scenes where Margo tried to coach Alec's mom and how some of those efforts went awry. All in all an enjoyable summer read.

The Baxter sisters come from a long line of women with disastrous luck in love. But this summer, Sunshine and Margot will turn disasters into destiny…

This is a really beautifully told story about twins who both have disastrous love lives. They individual come to a discussion that they need to change that what they’ve previous accepted needs to change.

Susan Mallory is a brilliant story teller; her characters are likeable and relatable and the settings are always normal (in a good way) I personally love spending the time reading one of her novels. She has this amazing skill to transfer you to a small town in America.

Susan Mallery's The Summer of Sunshine and Margot was a feel-good book. Two sisters find themselves wanting to change past relationship mistakes. Both begin new positions and find themselves dealing with a lot more than they bargained. I would definitely recommend.

I love Susan Mallery's books. Sure Sunshine and Margot have unusual living circumstances and we know from the get-go where this is all headed, but the drive is pretty fun. Even though her characters are often in circumstances the average woman can't relate to, her characters are warm, fun and likable.

I love how Susan Mallery brings families together and showcases the emotions between family members. This story is about 2 sisters and show how they deal with family problems and how they mature through out the book,
My main problem with this book is the sudden switching back and forth from one sister’s story to the other’s. . Because of this the story did not flow as seamlessly as normal I still highly recommend this book to all of my romance readers

Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read this book in return for an honest review

There’s a reason why Susan Mallery, till this day, remains one of my favorite author.

Her story is never complicated but full of goodness like a good, home cook meal. Her characters are never over the top. They are always relatable. In my head, her characters are real. Their problems are real. Their issues and insecurity are real. I think that, more than anything else, is what makes me love her stories.

I love Sunshine and Margot. I could relate to Margot more, compared to Sunshine simply because I was never a bombshell like Sunshine is. I like their sibling relationship. I like how close they are but not to the extend it becomes annoying. I also like how each of the sisters are allowed to grow on their own, without depending on each other.

I received this arc from Netgalley for an honest review. I was thrilled to get the newest Susan Mallery book and it did not disappoint. I loved both main characters, Sunshine and Margot and enjoyed each of their stories. I had a hard time between rushing through the book and savoring it, but in the end, I just couldn't put it down. Great story, excellent settings and even better characters.
