There is no doubt that Beatriz Williams is one of the greatest authors around. I am a devoted fan and this book was a total thrill to read.

I happened to be in Nassau when I started it, so the surroundings were especially potent for me. Believe it or not, I actually met the Duke and Dutchess many years ago and have been fascinated by them ever since. I felt such a strong connection to every page of this book, that I savored every moment.

This book is a combination of historical fiction, drama, mystery all woven into the lives of two incredible women, living decades apart. Lulu in Nassau, writing a column about society under the governance of the Windsors during WW II; and the beautiful, sad Elfride., living in the early part of the 20th century. Williams creates a special kind of magic in telling their stories and their love for the men they adore.

Her writing is so rich that I could visualize each character and each setting. I literally felt that I was watching the characters as I read the book.

As a reader of all Willams’ books, I hope we will find Lulu incorporated into the lives of future characters, as she has so masterfully done with the Schuyler relatives.

There is so much to discuss in this book, especially for history buffs like myself. The Windsors provide endless fodder for speculation and discussions. I cannot wait to read this with my book groups.

Thank you Netgalley and Beatriz Williams for enthralling me these last few days!

Two romances set apart by two world wars, yet both intense and stunning. One woman creates an extended family that spans before the great war into a post WW II world. From the Germany to Switzerland to the glamour of the Bahamas during the stay of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

What I really enjoyed was the intrigue. How each person tried to do what they thought was the "right" thing in times when right and wrong are blurred.

I absolutely am a fan of Beatriz William's and this novel is an prime example of why .Every one of her novels takes you on an amazing journey. The Golden Hour tells the story of LuLu and Elfriede, I am usually not a fan of jumping back and forth in different time periods but the storyline flows together perfectly. You need both stories to tell the tale, I was completely absorbed in both women's stories. And I learned more about England's scandal of the abdicated king and Mrs. Simpson. If you are a fan of novels with romance, espionage and murder this one's for you! This is a comfy chair, cup of tea and an afternoon of getting lost in a great read book!
Many thanks to the Publishing House and Netgalley for allowing me to read this early... I have already ordered it for my library and will definitely recommend it to the book group I host!
