This is book two of the Cooper construction series and it's Kane and Amanda's book, kanes world basically fell apart and he was a broken man, then skulls took him in helped him out the pieces of his life back together! Then his past comes flying into his life with spiky high heels and an attitude to match! Amanda! And Amanda doesn't just own the he works for she owns his heart even tho she betrayed him in the worst way possible! This book was good , it wasn't my favorite, I'm not sure why but I just couldn't get into it? But it's still worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

I’m not a fan of the back and forth from past memories to present time. I really wanted Amanda to be stronger, she is running a company but can’t pick who she gets to date and is under her fathers thumb. Just wanted her to be more fierce and independent. Kane and his MC are an interesting mix of characters.

I would rate this at 3.5. It was a good, quick read but not a favorite. With that said, I do like the way this author writes and would love to check out more of her work in the future.

An excellent follow up to Brick's story! This follows one of Brick's coworkers named Kane Hale and tells the story of the love he found then lost then found again. It also follows his story as part of his father's notorcycle gang and how he reconciles the two parts of his lives. I liked how very himan and indecisive the characters are. Usually in romance, the characters seem too perfect to be real.

I struggled to get through this one unfortunately. I didn’t care for the MC stuff, but I wanted to read the book because I read the first one in the series. This one just felt a little too disjointed for me to really sink my teeth into. 2 stars.

This is the 2nd book in the series and picks up where Brick left off. The story jumps back and forth between present day and 13 years ago when Kane and Amanda were together.

Overall I liked it, but I grew more frustrated as I read. Frustrated with the reasoning why Amanda stayed as close as she did with her father, put up with Nathan beating her, the paternity thing could’ve been dropped, 23 y/o Robbie became clingier to me than a sweet kid, all of Kane’s family and MC seemed really dumb and also frustrated me.

Like the first book, it’s well written and with a perfect dark and gritty tone, but it’s also a little too long or too much thrown into their story. Maybe one too many syndicates with white supremacists, Russians, drug king pins, MC, politicians, businessmen.

I did like the climax, Brick’s involvement and it had a satisfying epilogue. I know a lot of characters are introduced for the series, but oddly it’s Ace I want to see more. He had the most wisdom of all of them.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

"I can't go back and unlearn the lessons these years have taught me. I'm not sure I would if I could."

Jen Davis, prepare to be stalked by your new fangirl. I accidentally discovered you, and now I'll be keeping an eye out for whatever word wizardry you have planned for your readers next. I don't see a Goodreads listing for next in the series, but there are more amazing characters at Cooper Construction so I'm sure you have more goodness planned for us. I'm especially giddy with excitement over Xander. I can't wait! Squeee!

Kane is the badass biker with the broken heart. I met him while reading Brick and when Amanda showed up at their job site I realized the chemistry between them had not died over the last decade. It drove me crazy wondering what the hell happened between them. It was very obvious that it was painful and still very present, but so was their feelings for each other.

After reading two books by this author she has proven to me that she doesn't pull her punches. She lets her characters take us to the dark side and makes us squirm as we worry and wait to see if they will make it out alive. And, she doesn't pull the passion either. Nope, your Kindle might fog up while reading because it gets steamy. I'm addicted and ready for my next fix. The line forms here...

Picking up the pieces after the end of book 1 of the series, as in literally picking up body parts, Kane is not for everyone. There is a very clever structure at place. Who doesn’t want to know more about a construction company full of super hot, alpha males with mysterious pasts? The Enforcer for a crime boss was first up, perhaps the ex-special ops soldier, or the silent guy with a family secret may be next. This time, however, is the bikie who never wanted to be.

Kane never wanted to join his family in the MC. He wanted a life, and a family, and he wanted it with Amanda. The same Amanda who now runs the construction company he works for. Of course Amanda never wanted to be living a socialite life at the beck and call of her cold hearted father. She never wanted to be blackmailed into socialising with a man her father wants a favour from. All she wants now is to save her step-brothers construction company no matter the price. Even if it means being at the mercy of her fathers whims. Even if it means having to spend time with the only man she’s ever really loved, Kane.

Kane and Amanda were torn apart by lies, betrayal, and family obligations, but they get a second chance to find each other. Although they are going to have to wade through an ocean of blood and hurt to get there.

For many people this book is going to be too much. Not every romance reader is going to want a book that needs to come with trigger warnings. I have to admit that I needed to skip passed a few of the more brutal parts. However, the kind of readers who loved Sons of Anarchy, or who thought that Jamie Macguire’s Beautiful Disaster was tame are going to love this one.

For me, although I like an alpha male, I need a little less violence. 2.5 stars

Kane lost the woman he loved and was broken when in joined the MC. Now thirteen years later he is working for the woman he loved and lost. Neither of them is the same but the spark is still there, will they find a way to be together or will their past tear them apart. Fast-paced read with lots of drama, emotion and steam. I really liked it.

Kane and Amanda had it all in a great relationship then things fell apart. Now thirteen years later, Amanda is back as Kane's boss. He doesn't fit into her world and she can't stand his so why can't they let go? A good second chance read with twists and turns galore.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

I was intrigued by the character of Kane in Brick’s book. There’s a lot of dark in this book but light shines through. Kane had a challenging upbringing. It really speaks to his strength that he has a kind heart through all that. Amanda had warmth and love with her mother and step family. Her father is cold and evil. I wanted to jump through the pages and smack people which implies good writing to elicit that much of a response.

After reading Brick, i couldn't wait to read Kanes story. This hard hitting biker alpha had such a sweet and loving side when it came to Mandy. It was beautiful and such an amazing plot twisting read. I can't wait to see whos story comes up next. No Matt who it is i know it will be amazing.

KANE is the second instalment in Jen Davis’ contemporary, adult COOPER CONSTRUCTION erotic, romance series focusing on the men who work for Cooper Construction. This is thirty-two year old, MC member and construction worker Kane Hale, and business woman Amanda Griffin-Cooper’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Amanda and Kane) using present day and memories from the past, KANE follows several intersecting paths but the primary focus is on the rekindling relationship and romance between thirty-two year old, MC member and construction worker Kane Hale, and business woman Amanda Griffin-Cooper. Thirteen years earlier Kane Hale’s life spiralled out of control when the woman he loved walked out of his life in the wake of a devastating fire, secrets and lies meant to destroy what was and what would never be. Rejecting his father’s demands to join the Skull’s MC, Kane will eventually succumb and pursue the life of a outlaw as he struggles with the heart breaking loss of Amanda Griffin. Fast forward to present day wherein Amanda, now co-owner of Cooper Construction, comes face to face with her past, a past she will never forget or forgive herself for walking away. What ensues is the second chance romance between Amanda and Kane; the Skulls MC battle to take control of Sucre de la Cruz’s territory; Kane’s continuing personal battle with the MC life; and the potential fall-out as secrets and betrayal come to the surface forcing Kane and Amanda to reconsider their future together.

The Skull’s MC, with the insistence of Kane’s brother Scott, is determined to control the drug trade in Atlanta City by taking over the territory once owned by Sucre de la Cruz. Kane’s reluctance to participate places him at odds with his father’s MC, but the biggest threat comes from the Russian Mob. As Amanda struggles to come up with the finances for a new construction phase, her father continues to push Amanda towards a future with a violent man who is more than willing to control our heroine with more than promises and threats.

The relationship between Amanda and Kane is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people destroyed by family, power, control and manipulation. Amanda struggles with the guilt of walking away but walking away was the only choice to protect the man with whom she had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Amanda’s father Mayor Beau Griffin; her half-brother Michael Cooper (co-owner of Cooper Construction) and his wife Cindy : Kane’s brother Scott, their his father Malcolm and their mother Vivian Hale, several members of the Skulls MC, as well as the return of Brick and Liv (Brick #1), Robby, Matt and Cyrus. The requisite evil has many faces including Amanda’s soon to be ex- Nathan Shaw.

KANE is a story of fractured family dynamics; of power, greed, and politics; of forgiveness, revelations, redemption and beginning anew. The premise is thought provoking and intriguing; the romance is provocative and heart warming; the characters are edgy, spirited and energetic. KANE is an animated, fast paced and dramatic tale about the hunger for power, and the resulting ramifications on the way to the top.

Kane by Jen Davis is book 2 in the Cooper Construction Series. This is the story of Kane and Amanda. I have read the previous book and feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Kane and Amanda were once in love thinking they had everything but then people around them turned them apart with lies and misunderstandings. Now 13 years later they find themselves together with her being one of his bosses..but different people. Neither thought their lives would turn out this way and dance around their feelings and past...until they can't anymore. Loved this second chance at love.

Another great story by this author.
I love how real her characters feel.
I will definitely keep an eye out for more of her work.

I couldn't resist starting this, the second on the Cooper Construction series, after finishing book one; Brick. Although this second book is about a different couple, Kane and Amanda, it still has the same characters as appeared in book one. It also gives a little glimpse at some of the members of the Cooper Construction team that we didn't meet in the first book.
This is the story of Amanda and Kane. In their early 20's they were in love and expected to spend the rest of their life together. Until something, or someone came between them. It isn't clear, to begin with, what it was that caused them to split up, but as the book progresses, their past is explained.
I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters, that they had been together once was believable and for the most part, the reason that they split up worked. Particularly as it didn't present an insurmountable barrier to them being together once more.
Like the first book in the series, there is a very dark element to these books. This time Kane is part of a motorcycle gang. While he doesn't particularly enjoy much of their activity, he is tied up in that world and has to deal with it in order to allow he and Amanda to get together. Amanda's father is also an 'interesting character' and lives a somewhat shady life.
These first two books have been a great start to a new series and I'm looking forward to seeing what book three will bring, as well as finding out who's story it has to tell.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Kane was a definite fave in the first book, so I couldn’t wait to jump into his story. This is a second chance romance, but Kane and Amanda soon realize the circumstances surrounding their break up were not all as it seemed. We see them unravel the lies and betrayals of the people around them, while also giving in to their mutual love and attraction. I really enjoyed these characters and seeing their story unfold. There are also a lot of really great side characters. I loved seeing the dynamic Kane has with his brothers and exploring the culture of the Skulls MC.

However, my only downside was that I maybe compared this too much to Brick. I just don’t think I connected as strongly to Kane and Amanda as I did to Brick & Liv. I would have loved to see more angst and pining from the tow MC’s as I thought that was one of the highlights of the first book. I typically really love the 2nd chance romance trope, but this one left me a little wanting. There were also flashbacks used throughout the story, and while I don’t mind flashbacks, I don’t think in this case they were used very effectively.

Overall, still a really great and solid dark romance novel. I can’t wait to see who the author will write about in the next books.

I picked up and put down this book so many times I lost count. The substance is there but it’s so drawn out that I became bored. I found myself skimming because I just wanted to get to some action or something meaningful.

Kane - I didn’t understand him. Just because someone was there for you through a breakup means u can excuse all the things you hate?

Amanda - backbone, glad she finally got one!!!!

Brick - love him!!!!!!!!

Evan - very curious about that one!

Cyrus - mysterious and I want to know more

Robby and Matt - what the heck is gonna happen there???
