This book was suggested to me by another mom. I have a Daughter with Autism she is 9. I wish I would have found this book sooner. It is a book you will read again and again or just use as a reference to back to. I think grandparents and teachers should all read this book because it help you understand Autism through a different view or just understand it if you don’t! I loved this book even though I already know a lot about Autism. Thanks NetGalley!!

I'm the mother of two beautiful non-verbal autistic children. This book hit me right in the feels. It honestly took me months to get through it because I would get super emotional knowing I wasn't alone with my thoughts and feelings, then I'd start to cry and my Irish heritage would come out and I'd get all super red and splotchy....rinse. repeat.

This was a great book. Something I want to share with my husband and our little village of family and friends who make up the team who support my children in this world that wasn't made for them.

Such an informative, interesting book. Having a child with autism myself, I am always wanting to learn more about autism and to get as much information and knowledge as I can. When I seen this book for request on netgalley I requested it right away and was thrilled to have been given an eARC of this book to read and share my review with others.

If you want to know more about autism, whether you know next to nothing about autism already or know quite a bit, this novel will definitely be a great read to add to your collection.

Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew by Ellen Notbohm is a very informative book that helped me understand. My step-grandson is Autistic, and he did not come into my life until he was eleven years old. This book helped me understand so much about his behaviors, and really helped us grow closer. I have never been around an autistic child before, so I found some of his behaviors puzzling. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who wants to understand children with Autism.

I have read and referenced the 2nd edition of this book many, many times over the years. I love the new edition even more. The same valuable, insightful information is here but there are some improvements which make the book feel easier to read and utilize.

This book is pretty 101 so if you’ve already read (or lived) a decent amount about ASD there may not be a ton of new information, but if this is new and you are a NT parent really trying to understand your ASD child for the time, this is a great place to start. Should definitely be mandatory reading for any one who works with kids

This is a nice little book and is a good read for any parent of a child with autism. Its lovely as its all from the point of the child and is quite uplifting and positive which makes a nice change!

A fascinating and frequently elucidating insight to facilitate an understanding of the inherent challenges for children with autism in a neurotypical world. Research, historical thinking and, case studies combine with helpful strategies aimed at further understanding. I would say that book would be most helpful to readers who are seeking an introduction to autism as whilst I found it interesting and enjoyable, there wasn’t much new in this edition that I hadn’t come across elsewhere.

This is a great book. It has been written with child in mind, but it is not a picture book, so is aimed at an older child (around 10 years depending on the child’s needs), yet it is not condescending in any way. In addition to the child’s part is a part for the adults in the family, where the language is again appropriate. I have not read this cover to cover with my student, but have dipped into it at different times to help him to understand himself. I’d highly recommend.
