A touching and sweet romance, that has some tough subjects (cancer, for example) to deal with. The only objection I had was that this was a novella. Prefer more details and character development. Otherwise, a good story and one I recommend. Kept my interest throughout.

Engaging, heartbreaking, heartwarming and all the feels. Inspiration and all around great read. Really liked what I read. Enjoyed this book

The story line seemed to predictable. It was a sweet love story, but the characters had no depth. It was a good quick read.

This was a very sweet book, but it's always an uphill battle when writing a novella. It's just not easy to write something that will create a lasting impression with so few pages to do it on.

There was a lot, maybe too much, packed into this story. I would have liked it if there had been room to make the story more nuanced, with some more background added to the characters.

I read this book and couldn't really understand the rave reviews. As a love story it was lacking depth in both the hero and the heroine. They were both totally self absorbed and I didn't like either of them though the issues raised in the book were interesting they were brushed over and just there to add to the plot, the author didn't particularly convince me this was a romance story at all.

They knew each other when they were teens and now they are grown. She's divorce and has a daughter who is adopted. They are great together and they hit it off. I loved it.

An Old Love.
A divorced young woman seeking sole custody of her daughter bumps into her high school crush, and her life changes. Many highs and lows with this book, with faults on both sides but then that makes them more human.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

There was a lot packed into this novella. Luciano and Anastasia reconnected when she visits Charleston. She had a crush on him when they were younger but never knew that he also cared for her. He was older and was in college when she was in high school. This looked as if it could be their time. She is divorced and Luciano is a widower. Anastasia's big focus is protecting her adoptive daughter. She isn't sure if her ex-husband's new wife is mature enough to provide the right home environment for her. To compound all of these elements, Anastasia is also a cancer survivor.

Toss all of this in with a quick tropical storm/hurricane, differing opinions on international adoption, a little jealousy over another woman and much more. Like I said, there is a LOT packed into this little book.

I saw some real potential with the characters. However, I needed a little more to really attach and feel invested in this story. Given that it was a novella, there just wasn't time for that to take place. If you're looking for a quick afternoon read, this is a good choice.

This is a very short book and I wasn’t as interested in it as I wanted to be. I felt bored and I don’t think it was long enough for me to actually care about the characters. But hey, we can’t win ‘em all. Thanks netgalley!!

Josie writes awesome sweet books. This one deals with a woman with several issues and reuniting with a love from her past. Questioning about adoption of international children.

This was a romantic novella about Anastasia and Luciano. Anastasia has split with her husband, who has now married someone else, and they share an adopted daughter Soo-Min. This is reluctantly on Anastasia's part as she doesn't believe her ex-husband's new wife is fit to look after her daughter. This is the reason she has come to Charleston to see a lawyer about her options.

Whilst there she stays with and old school friend, Jaclyn, in her brother's oceanfront mansion, as Jaclyn's house is being renovated. Anastasia had a crush on Luciano when they were younger, but he was always that bit older than her so tolerated her.

Whilst staying at Luciano's there is a big storm and hurricane and they end up having to abandon the house and try and get away from the beachfront before they're swept out to sea. There is a dog in this - but she is OK, for any people who hate animals getting hurt in a book like me!

Because this was a novella things did happen in a very short space of time, which always seem a bit unnatural, but that's just the way novella's are, and this wasn't really an exception. One minute they're just friends, then it seems like more than friends with sometimes some unreal expectations for such a short period of time. I found it quite hard to connect with Anastasia, I know she was going through a bit of a hard time but I just found her a bit needy.

A bit rushed for me, but enjoyable nevertheless.
