There were some nice meal ideas in here but I would have liked a lot more meals that can be made under 15 minutes for example as some of these dishes take an hour or so to prep and I don’t have that long to make meals which is often why I will reach for a ready meal even though I know it’s not good for me.

This cookbook is exactly what it promises to be : a relatively fuss-free, child-friendly cookbook for busy mums.
I have to admit it took me ages to get to this, because I simply couldn’t quite make it work without a kindle! But once u got over the hurdle, I was eager to check out this gem.
The author is a mother and a registered dietitian and chef, so she knows what she’s talking about. She has some great practical advice about how to get started, what are the basic principles of clean eating and how to best get your family on board with it.
The layout is easy to follow, although I personally would have preferred more photos, the recipes seem easy to read and follow and some do include photos of the end result. (Which seem to be weirdly coloured, but that could be the fact that it’s not a printed edition?)

The chapters include :
1. Getting started and shopping lists (this section is extremely helpful if you’re new to this whole concept!)
2. Salads, soups and appetisers
3. Seafood
4. Poultry/ Meat Mains
5. Meatless dishes
6. Treats

While all the dishes seem very well put together nutritionally, I think some of them might seem a little too gourmet for little ones and therefore might not be so well received by little children at first, as some of the ingredients might take some time to get used to. (At least I know that would be the case at our house, and my 7 year old is not a particularly fussy eater!)
I do like this book though and I’m sure we will try many recipes from it, as my little one seemed very eager to bookmark some dishes!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my free advanced reading copy!

As a mom of four, four and under. I am always in the hunt for cookbooks that emphasize healthy, SIMPLE, and delicious meals! This book delivers on all three! With beautiful pictures!

Unlike the cookbooks that boast the label easy and yet recipes require 30+ exotic ingredients and 24hrs to make, this book actually contains ingredients you may very well already have in your kitchen!

I love the recipe notes and the “go green” section that highlights seasonal veggies and gives additional nutritional information in the recipe!

You will not be disappointed!

Clean Eating for Busy Families is an excellent guide that can help you take the breathless hassle out of meal times. Michelle Dudash has some well thought-out time savers as well as ideas to add variety to meals that have become rote. The recipes are fresh and the ingredients easily obtainable. I will buy this cookbook for my children.

I received a free electronic copy of this cookbook from Netgalley, Michelle Dudash, and Quarto Publishing - Fair Winds Press in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.

This book has some nice recipes for people who eat grains. We eat a low carb gluten free diet and while I appreciate that a few of the recipes allowed almond flour as a substitution there were too many recipes with a reliance on wheat flours. The seafood section did have some nice low carb options, but for the most part this book wouldn't work for our family.

As a busy working mother of two that also wants to eat healthfully I really appreciated this cookbook. The introduction has very useful tips on how to eat clean everyday - even with picky eaters! I loved the "10 tips for Dealing with Picky Eaters" and the weekly, monthly and quarterly shopping lists are extremely useful. With delicious sounding recipes like "Turkey & Oat Meatballs with Tomato & Carrot Marinara Sauce", 'Pecan-Crusted Chicken Tenders with Yogurt Dill Dip" and "5-Ingredient Pantry Baked Chicken Thighs with Apple Cider Vinegar" you're sure to find a quick, easy, kid-friendly meal that's packed with nutrients. I especially appreciated the notes for how to switch up the recipes with substitutes, cooking tips and advice on clean eating.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for allowing me to view an advance copy of this cookbook. All opinions are my own.

This is a beautifully done cookbook with clear instructions for meal prep. Many of the meals would appeal to our young children. The mini meatloaf and the sloppy joes would be the first I would put in rotation. I was happy to see a wide variety of entrees that included different cuisine, different meat source and meat free choices, and a selection of side dishes to accompany the main courses. If I had any criticism, I do wish each recipe included its own finished picture.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed a fair few of these recipes, some of the vegetarian dishes were delicious, the black bean burgers for example. I liked the clean eating ethos and the tips at the beginning of the book such as eating seasonal vegetables. It is the kind of thing more of us need to be bringing our children up with.

This book is a fantastic resource for a mom who wants to cook healthy for herself and her family. The recipes are really down-to-earth and delicious. The ones that I am going to try include the Guy-Approved Buffalo Chicken Dip, the Hearty Broccoli Cheddar and Yukon Gold Potato Soup, the Oven Fried Fish and Chips, and the Four Seasons Fruit Pizza. The recipes that I gravitated toward are ones that are nostalgic for me. My family often had broccoli-cheddar rice when I was a child, and I have been looking for a good alternative to fish and chips (this meal always reminds me of my trip to London). When I went to potlucks as a child, people served variations of fruit pizza. To find these recipes recreated in a healthful way is great! I am also glad to see that the book includes calorie listings because I am counting calories at the moment. I recommend this book if you want a healthier alternative to recipes you might already cook or crave. The tips for clean cooking at the beginning of the book were not new to me, but the recipes themselves were great.

As a full time working mum to two young pre-teens I was delighted to have been gifted an e-arc of Clean Eating for Busy Families. This is a fantastic cook book. There are so many ideas, so many tips and helpful hints throughout the entire book that it really suits both the novice cook to gain more confidence in the kitchen and also the more experienced mums find a really great range of different things to cook for dinner that the whole family will love. Definitely a 5/5 from me.

i enjoyed reading this book. The instructions were easy to follow and I felt like they were on my cooking level. Personally, I would only make a few, but i enjoyed leaning how to eat more clean. My only issue with the book is that it only had a handful of photos; i like to see finished works o know what i aiming for.

"The clean concept boils down to eating whole, minimally processed foods made with natural ingredients that are good for your body and good for the planet".

While the squeaky clean eater might find the odd item to quibble over, tortilla chips perhaps (albeit the author recommends wholegrain etc), it ought to satisfy most. There are also plenty of useful tips towards clean and green eating.

First published in 2012, this is a revised and updated edition with further streamlining of recipes to suit the busy cook, as the author has gained a second daughter.

I cook for kids just once a week but I recognise the value of the hints and tips e.g. veg first.

The recipes are straightforward and flavourful. Some may baulk at the length of some of the ingredients lists, and look to streamline them further, but to me they seem to strike a pragmatic balance between speed and ease and flavour.

The book is American but includes measurements in grammes. It is necessary to translate some ingredient names though.

Presentation and photography are good, though not every single dish is photographed. Nutritional information is included.

Recommended, particularly to those aiming to eat cleaner, or looking for further good ideas for family meals.

Doable ~ Delicious ~ Detailed

Clean Eating always sounds hard to me. Dudash makes it seem doable. She has clear directions, straight-forward dishes, and even grocery lists. This book is written by someone who seems to really understand families. I will be buying this book to use regularly. I rarely give five stars to a cookbook, and definitely not one on a diet plan (though the book makes it clear this is more about eating well than dieting). Really great cookbook.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
