Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Dr. Cadence Lawrence's successful career as a young surgeon takes a wrong turn when she sees Dirk Lyons, an old high school acquaintance in a fellow doctor's office. Her shock and anguish become clear once the reader learns that Dirk was once accused of murdering Cadence's best friend....by Cadence herself. Within days, she's being stalked by him and now fears she may be his next target. Without hard evidence, the police are helpless to protect her, so she flees into the North Woods. In her haste, her car becomes stuck on a side road during a major snowstorm. She faces a chilly death, until a knock on her car window by a stranger offers her hope for survival. Having just fled the horror of a suspected killer, can she trust the offer of shelter in a storm from a total stranger?

Thus begins this thriller by Kate Watterson, a terrifying tale that almost feels like a romance novel once Cadence settles in with her rescuer in a snow bound cabin, cooks for him, chats, and begins to fall in love with this tall stranger with a chiseled jaw, his own construction company and some really good wine!

OK, I admit a good wine will catch my attention as well, but the tale soon moves from the improbable to the absolute terrifying as Cassandra decides to return to her hometown and confront her stalker. She's accompanied by Mick, the man who couldn't turn his back on a stranded motorist in a snowstorm (and begins to like his decision on a personal level).

The author interrupts the storyline several times by shifting the point of view to give the reader a glimpse into the mind of the killer. This is what kept me reading, and it will keep you reading as well, assuming you're not too scared to turn the page as the true malevolence of this skilled predator is unveiled.

I read a lot of romance as well as thrillers so when the two are combined I am a very happy lady.
I found this fast paced with twists and turns and of course, some romance too.
Enjoyable read.

Just as the title indicates, in Blindsided, we find a young woman who encounters the killer she accused years earlier—and finds herself drawn back into a vortex of evil she thought she’d left far behind her.

A great psychological suspenseful story.

Admittedly this sat on my shelf for way too long. What a great story with a few twists and turns, a smoldering romance, and a snow storm ;)

While some parts did drag out a bit and I skimmed through them, overall, the story was very satisfying to read!

Fast paced and good writing. Just a bit more romance than I care for (I usually care for none lol) but I really enjoyed it very much!

This is my first book written by this author, and I would read more. The twists were pretty good, but I didn't particularly connect with the characters. I feel like there were definitely parts of this book that didn't seem realistic. This was definitely more romance thriller, then just plain ole thriller, so that may have changed my mindset if I knew that before going in.

Read this book if you love thrillers! Keeps you wondering the whole time how it will end. Loved the main character

It felt very stinted and forced like the author was told these are your characters, this is your plot now go and have it back to me by tomorrow. Very rushed, very forced and not enjoyable.

This book was one excellent thriller. Cadence thinks she has left her past behind but little does she know it will all catch up with her during a horrible storm. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time while reading this. As the plot thickens , cadence realizes she may be being stalked by a cold blooded killer.. If your looking for a suspenseful read this is the book for you.

Thank you Netgalley for the Arc in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and are completely unbiased.

While I have anything negative to say about the book, it just wasn’t for me. I just prefer a more suspenseful thriller than a romance. Although it wasn’t solely romance, I just prefer less.

I still can’t give this a low rating as the book was well written, the premise in whole was really well done.

I’m still going with 4 stars

This book was okay. I skimmed a lot as it didn't hold my attention. Nothing unique about the plot in my opinion. Worth a read I suppose, but nothing to talk about much.

This book fell extremely short of what I was expecting from reading the description.

The stranger in the snowstorm very quickly becomes a non-issue, no suspense from that entire section.

The killer is identified by name VERY early on as is most of his motivation. You have to be fairly dense not to figure out the why.

There’s nothing thrilling and only a few suspense scenes. Overall I feel it would be better categorized as a romantic drama, romantic thriller if you kinda stretch the truth a bit.

The book was interesting enough to hold my intention. The writing was good. It just didn’t live up to its genre or description.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read.

This was a fun read. I liked the characters and the plot. However, I believe that some of the perpetrator's actions and the outcome seem quite unlikely. This didn't bother me too much. It didn't make this book any less entertaining. The author was able to make me doubt my theories several times and that is something I really like when reading mystery/suspense novels.

Dr. Cadence Lawrence is a successful orthopedic surgeon. One day she encounters a man from her past which terrifies her and so she decides to drive to Wisconsin. When a massive snowstorm hits, she ends up in a snowdrift with her car cut off and then her cell phone dies. As she sits huddled inside her car, a man comes by and offers to give her a ride. Reluctant to get in a stranger’s car, she knows the alternative is to freeze to death.

The man’s name is Mick McCutcheon and he takes her to the cabin he owns nearby. At first, Cadence is leery of Mick, but soon relaxes as he is kind and sees to her comfort.

Thea Benedict is an FBI agent who is searching for Dirk Lyons who is wanted in Texas for a murder. Now, it looks like he is wanted in Indiana as well, so she decides to head there. She has been trying to contact Cadence, but with her phone dead, she has been unsuccessful so far.

Cadence had a childhood friend who is now her worst nightmare. It appears that he is after her and she is terrified knowing he will stop at nothing until he has killed her.

This is a strange book because I didn’t know who or what Cadence was running from and why. I realize that some thriller authors don’t spell things out right away, but to keep the reader hanging for so long with other plots can be so confusing. On a positive note, the relationship between Cadence and Mick is sweet, and the bad guy is a real slippery eel, so it all finally comes together. However, this was not a favorite for me, but perhaps it will be for other readers.

Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

What a read! It kept me on the edge of me seat constantly! Great read! Recommend to everyone! The mystery of this story kept me guessing and never knowing what was going to happen. That is my favorite kind of read! At times I questioned Cadance. Other times I question everyone else! Great write!

Read in July 2019
Blindsided by Kate Watterson is a thriller that felt if at times it wanted to cross over into a romantic suspense read. The story is mainly told from the point of view of the main character, Cadence Lawrence, but there are times it will switch the point of view.

The story begins to unfold in the middle of a snowstorm on a dark and deserted road as we join Cadence as she runs from something. Cadence quickly finds herself stuck in the snow when her car breaks down but thankfully a man comes to her rescue before she freezes at the side of the road.

Invited to wait out the storm in the stranger’s cabin Cadence couldn’t help but be wary even through the kindness but as time passes she begins to share her story. A decade before Cadence had accused a man of murder and he had walked back into her life sending her on the run.

Blindsided by Kate Watterson was an easy to read thriller that when s tarting out I really thought I would be rating highly. However, this would be one that the further and further I get into it the more over the top or unbelievable I began to find the plot and the characters. In the end Blindsided ended up being around 2 1/2 stars for me despite the strong beginning.

Blindsided by Kate Watterson has been a difficult read. Dr. Cadence Lawrence accidentally crosses paths with a man she had accused of murdering her best friend ten years before. Feeling like her life might be in jeopardy, she leaves her medical practice and her home, only to be snowbound in Wisconsin, where she is rescued by a handsome stranger who brings her to his country home. And that is when the plot becomes bogged down with inane dialogue and unrealistic storylines. The book blurb describes it as a thriller, which is what led me to read it. However, suspenseful romance best describes it. The plot promises an interesting murder mystery but, unfortunately, it evolves into an unrealistic romance. The dialogue often lapses into areas that have nothing to do with the story. If romance novels are your preference, you may enjoy this novel. Please note that this is only my opinion. Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mystery and Thriller? Not so much. I hate when books are basically mislabeled. This is definitely more chick lit romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. Fair enough, but why not just SAY it's romance-suspense.

Aside from being miffed that this wasn't what I expected, I liked the book well enough though it seemed to lose steam in the second half. Or maybe that was me who lost steam while looking for the thriller/mystery I never found.
