Another quick fun Summer read from Mary Kay Andrews.Really enjoyed this book had much more depth than most for her titles. The characters were more realistic and so was the plot.

This book was not only a great piece of women's fiction but had some mystery/thriller aspects to it and I loved the combination for a great summer read!

Drue Campbell has moved into the cottage that she visited her grandparents as a kid after a kiteboarding accident that has altered her life. She is working for her father and dealing with all the drama that can happen when you reconnect with things from the past. While on this job she ends up in the middle of a murder mystery that has gone cold and is determined to find the truth.

I absolutely loved this book. I had such a hard time putting it down and it ended up I stayed at the pool an extra hour just so I could finish it! Drue was such a great character to follow and I loved all the twists and turns. There was one particular twist that I didn't see combing and I loved that I was so surprised by it.

I wouldn't mind if this became a series and we followed Drue Campbell through another mystery that she finds on the job, can someone send Mary Kay Andrews a note?

This was such an enjoyable beach read. I think anything written by Mary Kay Andrews will keep you on your toes. Wonderfully written, great character development and an easy to follow story. A perfect summer novel. Highly recommended.

This was my first Mary Kay Andrews novel. It took a bit for me to get into but I absolutely loved the characters, the mysteries, romance, and setting. I love the St. Pete area and this story covered it beautifully. I hope that there will be more Drue investigations to read.

This was a fun, easy read, perfect for summer. When Drue crosses Florida to live in her grandparents old beach cottage and work for her estranged dad, she doesn't realize how quickly her life will change. The law office leads to her nosing about a two year old death and newspaper clippings found as she is renovating the cottage lead to a 40 year old missing woman. There's quite a bit of sleuthing, some intrigue and romance to boot!

I received an early version of this through Netgalley to review. Mary Kay Andrews is one of my favorite writers and she doesn't fail to deliver again. She usually sets her books in the South Carolina Low Country but I loved the Florida setting of this book as well. Drue Campbell' s life is a mess until her father offers her a job and her grandparents' house. Drue doesn't love her job but she does love the old house and works to fix it up. Drue finds herself involved with a cold case and a recent murder. Andrews combines the two stories together and in the process weaves in some family issues and romance. The story line is typical Andrews as the leading character finds out much about herself and her family in the process. Sunset Beach is a great summer read!

This was a fun read about a girl who was down on her luck. After losing her mom and having a botched knee surgery Drue moves to Sunset Beach where she takes on a rundown beach house she inherited. She takes a job working for her father and his VERY young wife, whom she hasn’t seen for many years, and it’s an awkward situation to say the least.
Drue starts looking into to some old files and one thing leads to another.
I enjoyed the story and quick pace, just would have preferred a bit more of the beach and less of the investigating. But still overall a fun story.
Thank you to St Martin’s Press and NetGalley for this wonderful summer read!

Things haven't been going well for Drue Campbell. Her mother has recently died, she has injured herself windsurfing, she has a car that won't start, and she finds herself without a job after an incident at work. Her estranged father, Brice Campbell, shows up at her mother's funeral. He is pretty much the opposite of Drue. He's is a successful injury lawyer and has recently remarried one of Drue's friends. Yes, her former friend! While talking with her father, she finds out that she inherited her grandparents' beach cottage in Sunset Beach, Florida. True has so many memories of visiting this cottage with her beloved grandparents and her mother; she is shocked and overjoyed that it is now hers despite the fact that it needs a lot of work. Brice also sees that Drue needs some help and offers her a job at his law firm. Drue begrudgingly takes it and decides to move into the beach cottage, which isn't that far from the law office. Between learning the ins and outs at work, dealing with her ex-friend Wendy who works there and getting the beach cottage in order, she is really busy. But when a case comes across her desk involving a missing person from ten years ago, she is intrigued despite her father telling her to not look into it. Drue begins digging and finds out this missing case might involve people she knows! Sunset Beach by Mary Kay Andrews is a good combination of a relaxing beach read and a thrilling mystery.

Drue isn't someone I initially gravitated to in Sunset Beach, but I was rooting for her. How could I not? Her life isn't going so well, especially after her injury and botched surgery. Her relationship with her father is a seriously challenging one that isn't made easier by the fact that he remarried, Wendy, her friend from childhood. Wendy also works at the law office, so this complicated things tremendously as she is office manager and a general pain in the butt. Once Drue starts to become interested in the missing person case, I found myself a bit more intrigued by the plot line, especially when it would flash back to the past.

Since I a big lover of beach reads, I really enjoyed the setting of Sunset Beach, on Florida's Gulf Coast, and the ramshackle cottage that has been in her family for years. I loved that Drue moved in and rehabbed it as well as her own life.

The missing person mystery in Sunset Beach, although interesting, sometimes got a little drawn out and I wish Andrews would have focused a bit more on the beach read side of the story and Drue's life. I liked Drue as a make-shift detective, but at times it was a little unbelievable.

Nonetheless, you can always count on Mary Kay Andrews to give you a beach read that is laid back and fun. So, if you like your beach reads with a side of an unsolved mystery, check out Sunset Beach this summer.

Between the death of her mother and a severe knee injury, Dru Campbell is at a low point. So when her estranged father offers her a job and informs her of the dilapidated cottage she is inheriting, she pulls up stakes and moves to St. Petersburg. While screening calls for potential personal injury claims, she learns of a case where a young single mother was found stuffed into laundry cart. Not satisfied that justice was served, she starts investigating. Plus in the attic of her cottage, she finds the police file of a cold case. Intrigued, she looks into that as well. Mary Kay Andrews novels are consistently entertaining and this one even more so due to the addition of the mysteries. Pull up a chair and settle into reading, you won't regret it.

This was just an okay read for me. It was basically fluff with a bit of romance and mystery thrown in. I didn't really care for the father or stepmother. The bit where the heroine goes to work at the father's business seemed convoluted. I have liked Mary Kay Andrews in the past but more often than not, I have found her books to be too busy and overly populated.

I love Mary Kay Andrews and her wonderful stories. This book has the beach, interesting personal relationships, a little romance, and two mysteries. Usually Mary Kay's books are fun beach reads, but this one included two mysteries that were intriguing. Drue Campbell is reluctantly working for her Dad, Brice, as a call center representative on the Justice Line. She gets interested in a case that Brice has already settled when the client shows up saying that she did not get a fair settlement. The more Drue looks into the case the more interesting the book became. Would Drue be able to figure out what really happened to Jasmine? Can she find evidence to put the person in jail and help the family get a better settlement? Despite everyone telling her to leave it alone, Drue just can't stop her search for justice for Jasmine and for her daughter. I was definitely caught up in the story and couldn't wait to find out what had really happened. I hope that there are more books with these wonderful characters.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Sunset Beach by Mary Kay Andrews is a beach read with a bit of mystery attached to it. Drue is begrudgingly working for her father and his new wife (Drue's former childhood best friend.)
Drue begins digging deeper into a case that her lawyer father had settled. While investigating Drue finds herself drawn deeper and deeper into the mystery of what happened to a hotel employee that led to her untimely death. A quick well-paced plot makes this a fun summer story. Read and enjoy!

Sunset Beach was an engrossing novel full of surprises. I enjoyed the mysterious aspects of the story and the humorous parts. Drue decides to make a change in her life and accepts a job from her father who she hasn't seen in years. The new job is more boring then Drue is used to, but soon that will change. And Drue will find herself in the middle of it all. The story is full of surprises that include a murder of a woman and the disappearance of another.

Sunset Sunset Beach is a fun summer read. Entertaining and flowing, yet the two murder mysteries that were solved by an amateur investigator, were a little far fetched for me. Enjoyable and engaging nonetheless. Thank you NetGalley for the e-copy. All opinions are my own.

When I started this book I thought it would be a light fluffy summer beach read. I was pleasantly surprised. This story turned into a very good who done it. Drue's estranged father turns up at her mother's funeral with a job offer and a surprise inheritance. She moves to Sunset Beach into her grandparents run down house and starts working at her Dad's law firm. She is soon involved in what she feels is a cover up and worries that her dad has done something illegal. She is soon working with the local police to what she hopes proves her Dad's innocence. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Mary Kay Andrews is a favorite for beach reads, and this one delivers. It's a little bit of everything - personal/family drama, intrigue, a little romance, mystery.
Actually, this story has two murder mysteries to be solved. It is a little heavier than her usual novels, but it definitely worked. There are just enough twists to keep the pages turning for me!

Drue isn't the most likable character, but she grew on me as more of her backstory emerged. I'm now hoping MKA has more Drue novels planned as I'd love to see her investigating more mysteries as she makes a unique P.I.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advance copy of the book.

Mary Kay Andrews always writes about the human condition in such a humorous and vulnerable way that I am always sorry when a book ends because I know I'll have another year until the next installment arrives.

Pretty easy cute cosy mystery. Lots of drama, two mysteries for the price of one, and a smidge of romance. The mysteries were also fairly dark and complex and not “easy” like some cosy mysteries tend to be.

I didn’t like the resolution for the secondary mystery and there were some general problematic statements made in the book also… but whatever I enjoyed it. Great for a summer beach read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the gracious publishers for the ARC

Is it a light beach read? A romance? Mystery? Wait, it's all of those! When Drue lands in Sunset Beach to reunite with her estranged father and live in her mother's old cottage, the thing she expects is to solve two mysteries.

I enjoyed reading about Drue's adventures, not a particularly likable character, but she grows on you...

But the book was a rather too long for me in some parts. I wish it was just a bit tighter, more concise...I found my attention wandering sometimes. Just for this, it's down one star.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
