29 Seconds proves you should be careful about what you wish for. Sarah Haywood was pushed around and inappropriately handled by her boss, Alan Hawthorne. But did he deserve to die? When Sarah has the chance to seriously consider having him “taken care of” by a new found “friend”, should she take the offer? This book definitely moved at a rapid pace and kept me awake until the early morning to finish. Men who think they can take advantage of women should watch out.

This was such a great, nerve wracking read! Having read Logan’s, Lies, I knew what kind of writing style I would be reading and it didn’t disappoint. Logan did an excellent job keeping the suspense going and keeping me engaged. I felt like I couldn’t read it fast enough.

This story contained quite a bit of sexual harassment and I thought Sarah’s character was very relatable. This storyline is very realistic with today’s issues and I could feel the anxiety that Sarah was going through.

Also, the book cover is amazing! I would definitely snatch this one up without even reading the blurb. But man…that blurb sure sucks you in!

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advanced copy of this book.

What a fantastic book, loved every page full of twists and turns and a brilliant page turner that keeps you on the edge of your seat and very well written.

This is a well developed story with a good ending and I can thoroughly recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I liked this second book by T.M. Logan. This is very much a nod to the #metoo movement in recent news. It even mentions big players in the entertainment industry caught in it.
Hawthorne is a major pig! It's unreal how much he got away with see all the people that turned away from it all.
Poor Sarah. She's just trying to do the best for her kids and she has such a horrible boss. I can't believe her friend Marie and what she did behind Sarah's back. I was slightly disappointed in the end.
But the book was written well and I did get through it easily.

Disappointing. I had such high hopes for this after reading and loving "Lies" last year. This turned out to be an eye-rolling read with way too much of the protagonist's thoughts. She was not likable at all and I hate reading a narrator that whines. If you find yourself in a precarious situation DO SOMETHING. Protagonist rule 1: don't just sit idly by and wait for things to play out. Especially if you're in a thriller!! Honestly, I would not classify this as a psychological thriller. Maybe suspense...but even that is stretching it a bit.

This book was so so good!!!! I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this author’s first book called Lies. When I saw his book was coming out, I did not hesitate to request it! I’m so glad I did!

Imagine your biggest enemy, someone who tries to ruin your life in every way possible. What if you could make this person disappear without any repercussions? Would you do it? This is the question Sarah is faced with.

I don’t normally read a book in 3 sittings, but I just couldn’t wait to see what happened and wanted to keep reading!! Read this book, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Thank you #netgalley and #stmartinspress for an advanced copy of this book!!!

T.M. Logan has done it again ! As always with his books, nothing in my house got done and I read the entire book within a 24 hour period!

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sarah has the potential for a wonderful career. She has a PhD - she’s well liked by her students and is respected by everyone including her boss. But he won’t recommend her for a full time position (I think we call it tenure in North America and it’s gold) unless she “plays the game” with him, which she is unwilling to do. Things are becoming dire for her. Her husband has gone off with another woman. She’s having trouble paying the mortgage and other bills - she really really needs this promotion. As luck would have it. She’s driving home one day and witnesses an attempted kidnapping. She manages to run her car into one of the kidnappers which gives the little girl the chance to run away. The father of the little girl is so grateful he offers her an unbelievable gift as a one time thank you.
This is where the story actually went wonky for me. Was it necessary for her to be picked up and brought to her benefactor the way she was by - was it Russian or German criminals. Overkill. And then - the so called gift. Who would actually give a gift like that. It was just too far fetched for me. I couldn’t get my head around the rest of the story. But Alan did get his comeuppance - but not for what he actually did. That would have been nice. But I didn’t mind the end.

Imagine being given a choice to change your life, but it would mean destroying another's. That is precisely the predicament that Sarah finds herself in. As a young British professor with two kids and an estranged husband, Sarah is barely keeping it together. She has a lot on her plate - trying to be a good mom, a good instructor, and a good daughter - so when her boss persists on sexually harassing her, she doesn't know where to turn.

After unknowingly interrupting an attempted kidnapping, Sarah is given an opportunity by the young girl's grateful father: give him a name and he will make the person disappear. No strings attached. No communication. Just text a name and your problem will be solved.

Would it really be that easy? Can Sarah really do that? 29 Seconds is an engaging thriller with lots of twists and turns. It has some predictable moments and some unrealistic scenes, but it is a good beach read with enough action to make the twist at the end worthwhile. This is good read, but beware - it has some slow moments with frustrating decisions by Sarah mixed in with the nail biting scenes.

29 seconds....the amount of time needed to change your life and possibly make someone disappear forever, all with one single phone call. In T.M. Logan's follow up to the runaway hit Lies readers are taken on a twisty, dark ride through academia and sexual harassment in the #MeToo era. Sarah, a young academic, unwittingly thwarted a potential kidnapping and the grateful father would like to repay his gratitude. Dealing with a lecherous top professor and national treasure plus her floundering marriage Sarah must decide just how far she will go...and all it takes is 29 seconds.

Pick up this fast-paced, suspenseful read-you won't be disappointed. A little lengthy in detail at certain points the twists keep coming and the second half will keep readers guessing until the end!

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

29 Seconds has a very intriguing premise - if you had the option to make anyone you know disappear and not be tied to the disappearance in any way, would you?

This is the moral dilemma presented to Sarah - a young woman who is working as a teacher under a temporary contract at the university. She chose this position because she would get to work for the most renowned person in her field of interest. Only one problem, the guy is a sexist misogynist, won't take 'no' for an answer perv, who constantly harasses the females who work for him JERK (not the word I really want to use!) who makes it known that Sarah can get the promotion and permanent position she has well earned IF.... she plays along and gives him what he wants.

This "Me Too" novel had interest, and page-turning going for it. However, I don't think it is as good as Logan's book Lies, so I cannot rate it as highly. A few things that didn't work for me is that so much time was spent building up the boss as a douche-bag. Got it - got it right away. And while I felt badly for the situation in which Sarah found herself, I didn't find her very likeable.

I will still, without a doubt, read anything T.M. Logan writes. This just wasn't my favorite read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel in exchange for an unbiased review.

Would you make a 29-second phone call that will completely change your life? Sarah, the protagonist of T.M. Logan’s latest novel, struggles to answer this question. She is a 30-something academic, a Christopher Marlow scholar, with a contract position at a small university. Her husband has recently “separated” from her, leaving her to deal with all of the hassles and problems that a single working mother faces.

One of her biggest problems, however, is her boss Alan Hawthorne and the “old boys club” atmosphere that engulfs her university. Hawthorne, a renowned scholar and very popular TV host, successfully raises so much grant money for the university that he can virtually get away with anything. And “anything” means that he is allowed to sexually harass his female colleagues with no fear of any repercussion. All of the women there, including Sarah, seem know it but are helpless to do anything about it. The last to complain to HR about Hawthorne lost her job soon thereafter. The most the women have been able to do is to institute “The Rules” (e.g., never be alone with Hawthorne in his office) in an attempt to protect themselves.

Sarah luckily has been able to avoid Hawthorne’s advances until she is up for a well-deserved promotion to a permanent tenured position, which she is denied. She is then faced with either submitting to Hawthorne’s desires or losing not only and chance at tenure but perhaps her job entirely.

While caught in this moral dilemma, Sarah is presented with a once-in-a-lifetime deal that can make all of her problems — or any one person — disappear. All she needs to do is make a 29-second phone call, and her life will change forever. What will Sarah do?

This novel fits perfectly into the current “me, too” era, and the reader is able to become emotionally involved with Sarah and her plight. However, her story proceeds at a somewhat plodding pace and seemed far too formulaic — until some twists and turns gave it new life and propelled it along to the finish. I was engrossed in Sarah’s story for the most part, but I found that the novel lacked pizzazz or snap or something and that its conclusion seemed a bit too abrupt.

I very much enjoyed Logan’s previous novel “Lies,” and although I did enjoy this one, I found it lacking in comparison. Nonetheless, I look forward to Logan’s next endeavor.

Thank you to NetGalley, T.M. Logan and St. Martin’s Press for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

When Sarah rescues a young girl in trouble, she expects to get nothing in return. But her act of bravery puts a very powerful man in her debt, and he always pays off his debts. Her offers Sarah a way to solve all her problems with her difficult boss, a once in a lifetime offer that will make all her problems disappear. No consequences no come back and no chance of being found out. All it takes is a 29 second phone call.

I loved Logan’s previous novel and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one and it did not let me down! I was instantly interesting in where this book was going and how Sarah was going to handle all the problems at her work place and keep her children safe. I loved Sarah and her father, they had such a sweet relationship and I loved how Sarah can always go to him for help. This novel was action packed and full of little surprises that you don’t see coming! I loved how this novel ended because I really didn’t see it coming and I was shocked in the best way. I love when bad people get what is coming to them! Definitely a must read from me, I loved every second and couldn’t help but read the whole thing in a few sittings!

Out September 10th!

A phone call that lasts 29 seconds changes the course of Sarah's life. Sarah is in the right place at the right time to save a young girl from a kidnapping, and her powerful father offers to repay the debt by making someone in Sarah's life disappear. Professor Hawthorne, Sarah's boss, is a known sexual harasser in the workplace who has so much power that no one has been able to stop him. Until now.

While this is a very fast-paced read, I found it sometimes difficult to root for Sarah. Also there was a confusion with Hawthorne as sometimes he was referred to as Lovelock instead. The twist at the end was surprising!

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

29 Seconds is the latest story by T. M. Logan. 29 Seconds has a likable heroine who the reader is immediately rooting for and at the same time wondering what they would do given the same circumstances. There comes a time in this story where it is almost impossible to put it down. I was given an early (USA) copy to review.

Sarah Haywood is a professor, a wife( to a currently MIA husband), a mother, a daughter, and a good friend. She enjoys her work and hopes to be given a permanent position. Only one thing stands in her way, Alan Hawthorne, her boss, who could be on a poster for the # MeToo movement. Everyone knows that he has a roving eye, but he holds a position of power, and no one is willing to rock the Alan money train. The women in his department know to never be alone with Alan, and those he has cornered alone, well, if they complained about his behavior, suddenly, they have no job and their future career aspirations are shattered.
When Alan sets his sights on Sarah, she doesn't know what to do. He makes it clear that if she sleeps with him, she will get her promotion, and if not, well, she can always try again next year. With the fear of losing her job hanging over her head and Alan's demands, Sarah is not in a happy place. After she intervenes in the abduction of a child, her life is about to become much more complicated, as the grateful father lets her know he owes her a favor, one favor. Sarah can give him a name, one name of someone she would like to disappear from her life, and then they will be even. With Alan's harassment hanging over her head, will she choose to give him Alan's name or figure out a solution on her own?
Anyone who has ever had to face sexual harassment and a boss like Alan, might be tempted to have her problem solved, 'just like that', but will Sarah? I was furiously flipping pages to see what she would decide and how this story would end.
For me, 2019 will be the summer of no rain, sunny weekends, a productive garden, and unbelievably good books. Lies by T.M. Logan was one of my favorite books by a new author, and 29 Seconds did not disappoint.
I received a DRC from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this gripping novel

we all have a list...of the people we come across either working with them or living next door to them or even being related to them...just sometimes that list is there to joke about...

wow this book is highly addictive you can see where its going but you cant quite help wondering how its all going to turn out

a brilliant academic who has it all is a sex pest and the worst kind as nobody can stand up to him as he has the backing of everyone...so when accusations of sexual harassment occur the victim becomes the perp and is thrown to the dogs...

sarah witnesses an attempted abduction of a little girl... but finds herself on the receiving end of an offer, the father of the girl can make anyone disappear and though she says no she is also the victim of sexual harassment by her manager who has threatened her with her job if she doesnt do what he wants and he wants her

its a limited time offer a once in the lifetime offer and once the ball and the clock is started there is no going back...

quite a roller coaster of a ride...as i also have a list but this is fiction at its best and i have to say i loved the suspense of this book and couldnt put it down... going to be keeping an eye out for more of this authors work

29 Seconds was an “ on the edge of your seat” thriller that I read in two days! The plot was so unique and intriguing. It begs you to ponder what you would do if you were asked to provide a name of one person to make disappear forever, no questions asked, especially if you were faced in a situation like Sarah was. I was hooked throughout the whole novel and was so eager to see what would happen next. So many parts were infuriating and made me emotional, yet that added to the story and kept it real. I really enjoyed this book, it was hard to put down!

What if you were given the option to make someone disappear? You have 72 hours to decide, one person, gone forever, not a trace to lead back to you or to their whereabouts. Would you do it? This is the decision Sarah must make, and if she were to do it, she knows exactly who she wants gone from her life forever.

This book was so good! It certainly kept me guessing and definitely made me wonder what I would have done had I been in Sarah’s position. Hawthorne absolutely infuriated me, but sadly he is very similar to many “powerful” men. If you enjoyed Lies by TM Logan I highly recommend preordering this one out on September 10!

Thank you to netgalley and st martins press for allowing me to read and review this book in advance!
