Is it enough just to say that I had a rough time having to put this book down once I started, since it feels like anything else is a spoiler? Well, let's see how much I can say without ruining any surprises in the story (which I see other reviewers have done, anyway). Sarah is a phD who is a remarkable and well-respected university professor. Her superior, Alan, is a popular public figure, although most who have to work for him (especially the females) have no regard for him. If he is accused of sexual harassment, however, the accuser's life is ruined... no job, blackballed in the field leaving no opportunity for another one, etc. He seems to know every dirty trick to get his way, especially his way into women's panties. Someone needs to stop him! And this is, pretty much, the gist of this book. Oh, and I loved the ending! I've just gotta find out what else this author has written.

What would you do if someone, a complete stranger, offered to make one person of your choice disappear forever, with absolutely nothing to tie you to the disappearance? I, of course, as most people would answer a resounding “no way”. You could not do such a thing.
Don’t be too sure. This book takes you into the mind and life of Sarah, a contracted, temporary professor at a university with an absent husband and children. Sarah is almost sure, to be offered a permanent tenured position at the university. But, there’s one hitch, her womanizing, sleazy boss, Alan, is a superstar at this university. He has two sides. One is cordial, professional and intelligent, a star fundraiser. The other is misogynistic, execrable and just plain sleazy. His reputation is known well by the women at the university.
Now, I, along with thousands of other women have had to endure the obnoxious men that talked inappropriately, touched inappropriately and sometimes propositioned us. However, Sara’s boss, Alan also holds the key to her future, whether she continues as a contracted professor, loses her job completely, or whether she realizes her dream of advancing at the university.
A chance encounter with a would-be kidnapper of a child manages to bring her to the attention of the intended victim’s father. An ultra-wealthy “business” man with somewhat shady dealings. As a way to pay her back, this man offers her the chance of a lifetime, to get rid of her detestable boss.
As the story unfolds, it develops into a fascinating psychological thriller. I didn’t see the ending coming. I have given it 5 ***** due to the fact that I always seem to figure out the endings and this time I didn’t.
Wow, what a book. A page-turner for me. I have had "Lies" by T.M. Logan on my Kindle app for a long time. I will now move it up near the top. If it's half as good as "29 Seconds" I will love it.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Netgalley and the Author T.M. Logan for providing me with a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Publication Info: Expected publication date Sept 10, 2019 by St. Martin’s Press. Pre-pub Kindle edition courtesy of NetGalley. Previously published in the U.K.: other editions available.
Summary: Dr. Sarah Haywood works hard at her job at the University. She really needs a promotion to a permanent position, as she is currently single mother. Her husband ran off with another woman to “find himself”, leaving her with two young children. Sarah works hard, keeps on top of her busy teaching schedule and even comes up with an idea for additional funding.
But all of this is threatened by one man, Professor Alan Hawthorne. Alan won’t let her — or any woman — get ahead unless they agree to his terms. At the university, Alan is untouchable. He has an impeccable public reputation on his BBC show. If a woman complains about his sexual harassment, she is disgraced and dismissed. When he steals Sarah’s ideas, she feels completely overwhelmed.
One fateful day, Sarah inadvertently does a good deed for a stranger. That stranger offers to make one person, any person, in her life disappear forever. Sarah must decide if the risks outweigh the consequences.
Comments: I couldn’t put this book down. I read until late in the evening, fell asleep, woke up and finished it. It absolutely had me gripping my Kindle until the very last few pages.
This is a very timely story of one man’s abuse of power and the fear he instills in others to keep his secrets. I know there are women out there who will relate to the situation, if not the solution.
Highly recommended for readers of Psychological Suspense and Thrillers. It would also make a terrific Beach Read and I’d love to see it on the best seller lists.

Finally a revenge fueled thriller that's different! Worth the hype...add this book to jumpstart your Fall TBR!

A thriller for the #metoo era. Kudos to the author for tackling some very difficult subject matter— sexual harassment in the workplace. The main character, Sarah, is in a weakened and vulnerable state. Her husband has left her with her two young children to care for which makes her desperate to keep her job. I don’t think I’ve read quite an awful character like Alan Hawthorne in a long time.
This book didn’t quite gel together for me. I enjoyed the author’s previous book, Lies, but this one fell a bit short of my expectations. The combination of an unbelievable revenge aspect and the harassment that Sarah suffered in so many ways just didn't work for me as a reader.

Sarah is a university professor and faces many of the worst trials women can face in the workplace. She is an excellent professor but unless she plays ‘nice’ with her male boss, her job is at risk. Her boss is known for sexual harassment and worse but is always protected by the university when a complaint is filed against him. On the way home Sarah does a heroic act and saves a little girls life. The girls father is so grateful he offers Sarah a deal that is good for 72 hours. All she has to do is provide a name and that person will disappear forever. What will Sarah do?
How can she accept the offer but then again, as her boss makes her life and others lives worse each day, how can she not? How could she live with herself? This was a very intriguing story. It kept me interested throughout. I especially loved the ending. It was unexpected and I felt justice was truely served.

Lots of twists and turns and an ending you will never see coming. Fast paced, quick read , thank goodness, with some interesting mostly unlikable characters. It is easy to dislike the main character due to her vascillating point of view in speaking about her boss and her husband. I am not sure there was a purpose for the ever absent husband being mentioned except to show Sara as weak in her dealings with men. The constant bickering of her children was quite realistic but became repetitive and lost the effect for me as did the abusive boss and lack of camaraderie of the women in standing up to the male abuse of power. Friends that weren't really friends and enemies who suddenly became co conspirators just didn't work, it seemed rushed and incomplete in parts. Overall a decent read, but not great,

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I love a good thriller and this book did not disappoint. I'm not usually very good at figuring out what is going to happen in a good thriller and this book went where I never would have thought of. There are several twists that will keep your interest. Sarah has an option to have a person "disappear" from her life. When you read the first few chapters, you will have no problem figuring out who she will choose. All she has to do is make a "29 Second" phone call. I enjoyed the book so much that as soon as I finished itI looked up other books by this author.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
I read and loved T.M. Logan's previous book, "Lies." This one is even better.
The story is not only an exciting read, but it could be right off the front pages of the daily newspaper. To say it is timely is an understatement.
A 29-second phone call can change Sarah's future. What should she do? What would you do?

T.M. Logan has now become one of my favorite authors. First with Lies and now with 29 Seconds. Logan is great at telling a story full of suspense, and the books are so hard to put down!

A really good book about a university professor who, along with other female professors, are harassed by the department head. When she is given one chance to change something bad in her life, will she do it and if so, will her decision change her life forever? A well written book but I wish the author would have left out his political opinions. I don't like when an author shows his bias either way and it kind of ruined the read for me.

3.5 stars
I had a hard time connecting with the protagonist Sarah. It was as if the author couldn’t decide if she was going to be an empowered academic doctor or a hapless, unstable victim. I recognize that many characters can have multiple sides depending on the circumstances but Sarah wasn’t consisenty any of these. The powerful man who offered her the strange deal also seemed unlikely and his actions were inconsistent with his promises. The ending was good, but again, unbelievable for Sarah to suddenly accomplish.

The story starts in an unusual way, at least to me. Sarah is trying her hardest to stay with her group of friends as they wait for a taxi. But she's smoothly forced to the next one by her boss, a man who is known to intimidate and harass the women in his department until they give into his demands. You cannot help but feel sorry for Sarah and despise Alan, her boss. She tries her hardest to stop him, but his ego and high belief in himself won't take "no" for an answer.
As the circumstances get more dire for Sarah, she becomes more distraught. It seems that there's no hope for her. No one who can help her will and you fear that she'll end up having to give into his demands. But then an act of bravery on Sarah's party gives her 29 seconds to make the problem go away. But is 29 seconds enough?
This is the first book I've read by T.M. Logan. I could not stop reading until I knew that everything was good for Sarah. I had to know what happened to her boss, a cockroach who just will not go away.... or so it seems. T.M. Logan kept me on the edge of my seat for almost the entire book. There was so many thrilling moments that suspense almost killed me!
Bravo to T.M. Logan for creating this strong female lead who wants to do the right thing but, like all of us, is only human. But then her battle with herself between doing the right thing and doing the only thing to make this horrible, lecherous man stop from harming other women, show the struggle any of us would have in a similar situation. The ending was something I did not see coming, and that made the conclusion of Sarah's story perfect.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this phenomenal book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm very happy I finally had the chance to read this story, because I can understand the love for 29 Seconds now. It's such a well crafted and original plot! Oh yes, if you are looking for a little something different than your typical psychological thriller plots, you will hit the jackpot with this one. What I thought would be a simple sexual harassment story involving the typical boss and female colleague roles, soon turned out to be something a whole lot more twisted and complicated. The sexual harassment and the bullying is there, front and center and with its own spotlight to help you remember why you hate a certain character so much. Trigger warnings are in place for those who are sensitive to the theme, because things will go quite far and it doesn't make for comfortable reading. Sadly, this kind of bullying and treating female colleagues is not extinct even today and this story shows how difficult it is to find proper proof and fight for your rights as a woman and a professional. It was without doubt very interesting how the author developed the theme as a whole.
Like I said before, there was a certain character I absolutely and completely loathed and I myself wouldn't have doubted a second if I would have been in the same situation and the same offer would have been made to me. Does this make me a bad person? Maybe. But some situations just have no other way out, and certain actions and persons simply have to be stopped before even more lives are ruined. I think the power of 29 Seconds is in this choice, and how this story makes you think about what you would do if the same happened to you... As the story states: ultimately, we all have someone on our list. As for the main character Sarah... Did I like her? Not exactly. Did she make me want to slap her and yell at her to get a grip? Oh yes. Was I frustrated with how she had be putting up with that kind of behavior for two years already? You bet. But it was interesting to see Sarah develop over time and reacting to her decisions and the things happening to her.
The writing made it really easy to fly through 29 Seconds and I liked how the story was divided into three parts. There are different elements involved as well as multiple plot twists and a very original angle in the form of the once-in-a-lifetime offer. I would have liked to see certain aspects of the final reveals more developed, as they seemed to be a bit rushed and not every twist seemed to be explained all that thoroughly. But overall I liked how this story surprised me and even though I was infuriated by the sexual harassment scenes, I loved the plot development as a whole. Original, fast-paced, considerably disturbing and with a healthy dose of suspense, 29 Seconds will most likely entertain any psychological thriller fan who likes their stories with a twist.

Very interesting plot. Likeable characters. I could think of one or two people I might want to disappear. This might not have been my favorite book but Im certainly in the minority here.

If someone was making your life miserable and you had the opportunity to make them disappear, would you? Sarah has 72 hours to make that decision and once the decision is made, she can't change her mind. This book was very good with lots of twists and turns!

Who hasn't dreamed of eliminating a problem in their life? But would they have the guts to pull off the perfect crime? Especially when that perfect crime fails. I loved all the twists in this story. The ending was a surprise. It was satisfying to see the unexpected team that came together to carry it out. It is sad that such men exist and are allowed to continue in their ways.

I didn’t realize that when I picked up 29 Seconds, it would start with a scene concerning sexual harassment. Having just finished The Whisper Network, I felt caught in a loop. But this one deals with being offered a way out of the predicament.
You see, single mom Sarah happens to save a young girl from a kidnapping. Not just any young girl, but the daughter of a very bad man. Who as a way of saying thank you, offers Sarah the opportunity to make one person disappear from her life. She’s got 72 hours to decide. What a dilemma. We would all like to think we’re too good to take up an offer like that. But I know there are a lot of days I’d be popping off a name without thinking twice. Hell, there are days when I have my own version of The Mikado’s “I’ve Got a Little List” going on in my head.
This is a fun, nerve wracking read. Logan does a great job of keeping the tension ramped up. I just wanted to see how it would play out. I couldn’t read fast enough. It definitely took me places I didn’t foresee. Sarah was a very realistic main character.
My thanks to netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advance copy of this book.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat, and what a ride it is! Sarah’s character is so well written and such a strong female presence that you can’t help but cheer for her. Alan is a lecherous excuse of a human being and deserves everything he gets! There were several twists and turns and I wish there was a bit more clarification at the end when other characters get involved in Sarah’s last stand, but overall this book was amazing!

So suspenseful! Not a genre I typically read but I enjoyed this tale of a woman academic who's being wronged by the misogynistic lech who runs her department. Revenge is sweet, and there are many plot twists and turns. Highly recommended!
