I received an E-ARC through NetGalley. I loved T.M. Logan’s previous book, Lies, and I was excited about receiving an ARC of this one, too.. I appreciated the short, action-packed chapters that held my interest, and kept me reading to see what happened next. However, I found this book too repetitive and drawn out.

This is the second book that I have read by this author, and I was really looking forward to a thrilling read. I was not disappointed at all! What a thoroughly engrossing book! It was difficult to put it down once I started it, so readers should be ready to read until you’re done with it. Sarah is the victim of sexual harassment. As a single mother, she cannot afford to lose her job, but that is the threat that Alan makes if she won’t sleep with him. What a horrible man Alan is! He is a sexual predator who is helped with his dark proclivities by being part of a team of men who choose to overlook his evil choices. The book has short chapters which makes it very fast-paced. The twists and turns are compelling and Sarah is a very sympathetic character. She saves a young girl’s life and in so doing, she gets an offer from the unsavory father of the young girl. He will make someone, anyone she wants, disappear if she makes a 29 second phone call. Of course, Sarah is desperate and makes the call. That is just the beginning of her troubles as she chooses to have Alan disappear. This was such a good book that I would give it more stars than five if I could. Readers of thrillers will enjoy this book but should be aware that the themes are adult ones, dealing with a sexual predator as well as pornography.

Taut psychological thriller. Sarah is a brilliant researcher at the university that she works for. When it comes to her career she has always played by the rules, until now. When her boss, who is practically a saint in the eyes of the university and the community at large, will not stop sexually harassing her, Sarah must take drastic measures to save her career and possibly her life. Sarah knows he has gotten away with his dispicable behavior for years, so when an opportunity falls into her lap that could save her career, but goes against everything she stands for, she must decide if it’s worth the consequences. Excellent, fast paced novel that was impossible to put down.

Well, I really really enjoyed T.M. Logan’s last book and had high hopes for this one. But, 29 seconds was nowhere near close to, Lies.
There was a lot I could relate with the main character, Sarah. A woman (and mom) in the workforce trying to do her best to be noticed and rewarded for excelling at her job and having to deal with men who cross that line and are not dealt with because they are men or someone important.
I was intrigued by what the Russian mob boss offered and made me think, hmm, what would I do? I thought this was a good plot and could have been done well.
Unfortunately, there was a lot I did not like. How Sarah, brought up her cheating husband, a lot. I thought this was a weak plot point and made me dislike Sarah. She wished he was around and could talk to him? Why? He not only is cheating on her but has cheated before too. He has abandoned her and her kids and she still pines for him. She also brings up that she hopes he comes back. Again, why?
I liked the end but I felt like it was rushed and then just summarized on how it happens after the fact. I wanted more of this!
I think T.M is a great writer and he builds suspense well and although I didn’t like this book I will still read more of his stuff in the future, as long as it’s better than this one.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this title in exchange for a review. Have you ever had a boss who got into your personal space, threatened you with dismissal of your job if you didn’t play by his rules, which meant having sex with him? Well, Sarah had this boss and everyday his threats and demands grew worse.

She also had an offer from a very rich and powerful man to give him one name and he’d make that person disappear forever. He made this offer because Sarah had saved his daughter from a kidnapping. Would you make the call and put a name out there?

Settle in for a good, long read. This one will take you on a winding road of angst and indecision until it doesn’t. You might want to have a snack and beverage at your side so you don’t have to interrupt this book for anything. It’s that good.

Thank you St Martin’s Press and T.M. Logan.
I will start by saying T.M. Logan is a wonderful writer and I loved his previous book “Lies” and he did not disappoint with “29 seconds”.
How can 29 seconds change your life?
Sarah’s found quickly how a decision she took changed her life from bad to worse. What a great character!
Professor Hawthorne however made my skin crawl, I hated him.
Suspenseful story, full of twist and turns and did not see that end coming.
Highly recommend

I could barely finish this book. No real reason that I can name, but I guess I just thought it would be something it wasn't.

I am conflicted. I didn't love it, and I didn't hate it. So 3 middle of the road stars it is! The premise was very promising. It took half the book to get to the meat of the story. Basically, Sarah is being sexually harassed by her superior at work. She is looking to get a long-term contract at the university, and her Professor in charge makes it quite clear that he wants a relationship with her and if she doesn't give in, he will ruin her career and thus her financial stability. One day, she interrupts a child being abducted. That child belongs to a rather unsavory businessman with ties to the underworld, who now owes Sarah a favor. He tells her that in return for what she did, he can make someone in her life disappear. After all, we ALL have someone in our life that we wish we could make disappear, right? She has a limited time to make her decision and give him a name. Once she does, there's no going back.

So what's a girl to do? Should she or shouldn't she? Well, obviously she does - and in a 29 second phone call, she sets things in motion with some unintended consequences and outcomes. And this is where things pick up for a bit.

My thoughts were - here we go, it's gonna be good now!! However, it all sort of fizzled out. Oh, there were a couple little surprises in there. But, when all was said and done, I kind of turned the Kindle over and over in my hands, looking for more, wishing there were a few more chapters and a bit more detail about how it all played out.

Impossible to put down. Logan has followed up his 2017 title Lies with a strong, pulse-pounding thriller. Original plot, excellent character development and a surprise ending all add up to a book I will definitely recommend to my patrons. I've already purchased the title to add to my library system's collection.

It might only take 29 seconds to order a hit on someone, but making sure that hit goes according to plan takes a whole lot longer. Overall, a great thriller- a fast read and fun read without any gory scenes- though there is an extreme amount of sexual harassment (thus the ordered hit).

Sarah is a dedicated junior lecturer, a talented and well liked instructor who is stuck on her career path for a permanent position. Balancing her responsibilities as a newly single mom with the continuing harassment at work is wearing on her, and when her boss, Alan Hawthorne, tells her in a round-about way that there will be no promotion unless she begins an affair with him, all while stealing a clever idea to boost funding for the university – well, Sarah had had enough.

Traveling home one evening, she notices a young girl being led down the street by a blank-faced, frightening looking man, and follows in her car. Sarah helps the young girl get away, smashing into one of the strange men with her car. Several days later, Sarah is picked up and taken to a clandestine meeting, while being forced to wear a black hood. She is surprised to meet with the girl’s father, Mr. Grosvenor, who expresses his gratitude and makes Sarah an amazing offer – all she has to do is give him a name – one name – and Grosvenor will have this person taken care of. Waffling for a couple of days, Alan Hawthorne once again sexually harassed Sarah, and she called the number Grosvenor gave her and left a name.

Sarah’s resilience and determination to defend her honor is admirable, and I appreciated reading about this strong and courageous woman. Alan Hawthorne – well, I think we’ve all had a supervisor like him before, with his bullying and playing politics and glad-handing upper management and yes, sometimes even the sexual overtures. I found this book gave an interesting glimpse into what can happen if someone is pushed to their breaking point, and I enjoyed every word.

Have you ever wanted to just get rid of someone because of how they treat you? This takes that daydream of killing your boss and makes it into a suspense novel that you will not want to put down.

A woman who is working for a male chauvinist is driven to an extreme idea to rid herself of this toxic relationship. However, this is not her only toxic male relationship. Her husband is a serial cheater who cannot be trusted. The only solid male figure in her life is her father, and even that relationship did not get strong until later in her life. All of this brings her to a desperate place in her life where a 29 second phone call could possibly change her life, and that of her boss.

This book takes an age-old story of a male in power who abuses the women who work for him. He is almost sociopathic in how he treats his female employees. Unfortunately, this story is all too real for many employees (even if the gender dynamics may change). How far can a person be pushed before they decide that enough is enough. And when they do, what action will they take?

29 Seconds takes this premise to an extreme case. The heroine does things she never thought possible and the outcome is different than you would expect. It is a story full of twists and turns, intrigue, crime bosses, drugs, sex, and desperation. And it is about a woman taking back what keeps getting stolen from her. This is a great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an advanced copy to read. All opinions are my own.

I was skeptical that T. M. Logan’s follow up to Lies would be as brilliant, but I was proven incorrect. The way Logan writes Professor Hawthorne’s character made my blood boil, my heart race, and I just wanted to hurt that man. I am not sure I’ve ever hated a character as much as I hated him.

On the other hand, I absolutely adored Roger and a few other characters (not mentioned because I don’t like spoilers). The way this story pans out is excellent, though a bit predictable at the end (parts, but not all).

I enjoyed this one!

I loved T. M. Logan's newest novel 29 Seconds, due out in September 2019. It raises an interesting question, if you had the power to eliminate one person in your life with a guarantee that it would never come back on you, would you do it? That's the question posed to Sarah, the novel's protagonist. She is a semi-single mother of two young children and a university lecturer, who has a boss that is a sexual predator but is also untouchable. He makes her life a living hell and is threatening her professional future, but when she is offered an opportunity to make him vanish, should she take it? Personally, I wouldn't have hesitated, but hey, that's just me.

Logan is a talented writer, and I was hooked from the first page to the last. He did a great job of developing Sarah's character, and ratcheting up the suspense. I just wish the story of the lecherous boss were harder to believe, but it's all too familiar.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review. 29 Seconds was a fun, exciting read.

29 Seconds is an intense ride! I read T.M. Logan’s book Lies last fall, and I loved it! So, of course, I had to read 29 Seconds! It is just a crazy and twisty as Lies, and if you haven’t read Lies, get on it! I love thrillers, but sometimes they’re a little predictable. 29 Seconds is in no way predictable. Just when I thought I had a handle on what was going on, something would come up and squash it! This is part of what makes the book so fantastic.

The characters in 29 Seconds are so well-written that you are going to actually going to want to scream and go after Alan Hawthorne yourself. I mean, I felt so much rage towards him, and I kept thinking about how there is no way I could have put up with him as a superior. He is the scum of the earth, but either people don’t care or they’re afraid of losing their jobs because he holds their futures in his hands. And he knows it. Seriously. You are going to loathe him. And that loathing is one of the things that makes 29 Seconds such an incredible read.

Then you’ve got all of the other characters. Of course, Sarah is the main character, yet the entire book revolves around Alan that you become Sarah and forget she’s a character. Seriously. I think I felt every emotion Sarah has while I was reading. As a reader, when you become this immersed in a book, you know that it’s a good book.

I’m obviously not going to spoil this for you by giving you any plot details. You get the idea by reading the synopsis. If you love thrillers and suspense, you have to read 29 Seconds by T.M. Logan! You’ll thank me!

Give me one name. One person. And I will make them disappear . . .

Dr. Sarah Haywood has a lot on her plate. A teaching job concentrating on Christoper Marlowe, 2 young children, a husband who has shacked up with another woman, and a boss who can't seem to keep his hands to himself. Professor Hawthorne is a nightmare of a boss. Always one step ahead of any accusations of impropriety and not afraid to blackmail his female staff into sex for your job scenario.

Sarah is at a loss to figure out a way to keep her job and not have to sleep with her boss. Which is getting more difficult as he is sabotaging her work and reputation. Sarah is at her wit's end.

A seemingly unrelated incident happens to her early on. She is witness to an attempted kidnapping of a little girl. She never thought that the little girl belonged to a very powerful man who is very grateful to Sarah. In a very secretive meeting, Sarah meets a man with a lot of money and a lot of power, who doesn't like to owe people. In his mind, Sarah has saved his daughter and now he is in her debt. So he offers her a one time deal.

Will she take it? Would you? One name. Gone Forever. Would you? No chance of blowback. No chance of anyone finding out. Would you?

This was definitely a thriller!  At first, I was a bit upset with Sarah. She was rather all over the place, but I looked at what she was. An educated woman being jerked around by not one but two men. While holding down a full-time job and with 2 children under 10. Being passed over for promotion for not trading sex for favors.

Very Well Done!

Without a doubt, TM Logan is quickly becoming a must read for me and my customers. I feverishly recommended his first book to both co workers and customers, and will certainly do the same for this book.

Full of surprises, and a story that kept me guessing up until the last minute. Great characters, fantastic story line and a twist as always-- 5 stars for sure!!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a Kindle ARC of 29 Seconds.

This is my first book by the author so I went into it with an open mind.

I was intrigued by the premise, a timely theme for our #MeToo era about a single mother and professor named Sarah struggling to move ahead in her profession but thwarted by a sexual predator, her boss, Alan Hawthorne.

When she saves the life of a child, she is granted a phone call and the ability to eliminate someone from her life. Because everyone has someone they don't like. Right?

Will she make that call?

I'm a big fan of revenge stories and though the ending does not disappoint when the big bad wolf gets his comeuppance, there were a couple of things I found difficult to suspend disbelief for, such as the person who owes Sarah a debt.

Sarah was hard to like; she's an educated and intelligent woman who spends far too much time crying over her philandering idiot husband.

Also, there is a serious lack of exposition as to how she ended up with that douchebag and why she allows herself to be treated in this way.

I also couldn't understand how naive Sarah was; even though she was aware of how predatory her boss was and the stories told about him, she still believed she would succeed and move ahead in her career by waylaying his advances.

I wasn't a fan of how the author conceals the ending by the obvious time jump. I missed the best part!

As a reader, I want to be drawn into the story, be immersed with the main character and what he or she is doing.

In this way, I'm able to sympathize or feel I have a stake in what happens.

I may not have to like her but I do want to feel invested in the story.

This wasn't a bad read for a revenge tale.
