Oliver learns the hard way and with some much needed tough love, that he has to grow up and make a plan for his life. He is surrounded by women and has learned a thing or two about keeping them happy. That's when the idea of a real life book boyfriend is born. This book had some surprises. The characters' attitude and behavior felt very real. Touching topics like loyalty, jealousy and betrayal among others. I felt at some point it concentrated more in the politics and the side story than in the book boyfriend topic but on the other hand it needed to happen for the story to develop and for mistakes to be fixed. Old friendships needed to be amended. But the captivating part about this, is that Oliver is genuinely a very dedicated and caring guy, even when his close friends are being nasty. He is an all in, love with all his heart type of man.

What a concept!! Would you be willing to pay a lot of money to go out with a man who acted like your favorite book boyfriend. This is the concept that Oliver has for a new business.

Oliver is a model who is finding it harder and harder to find work. He is being replaced by younger models and he is in need of money fast. He overhears some women talking about their favorite book boyfriends and an idea forms. While this concept was fun, I really wish we could have had more about him slipping out of character. He started this business and at least it seemed like he got clients right away. Luckly he has a help of a neighbor who seems to have read most of the books. I just wish we could have read a scene where it didn't go so well. It seemed to flow almost too easily for Oliver.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the character of Oliver but I did have a hard time with Bailey. For most of the book, there wasn't a lot of redeeming characteristics about her. I mean she did have her reasons for doing everything but she just came off as so cold that I didn't understand Oliver's obsession with her.

Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend is definitely an interesting read. With lusty thoughts of fictional characters, real live men to play the part, and enough outside drama to keep you wondering just what's going to happen next.

Oliver has gone from being a model who was a household name to an attractive nobody. After over hearing some neighborhood women discussing how they would pay to have their book boyfriends come to life and treat them like they do the womaen in their books an idea is born. Oliver starts Book Boyfriend Incorporated and with the help of a sassy neighbor he brings fantasies to life.

The one thing that Oliver didn’t count on was Bailey. She is smart, beautiful, driven and has a chemistry with Oliver that they can’t deny. Can Oliver stay focused on Book Boyfriend or will his feelings for Bailey get in the way?

I am a fan of all the misadventure books. This one was a little slow for me in parts but it was a good read.

MISADVENTURES WITH A BOOK BOYFRIEND By Victoria Blue
This is the latest installment of the Misadventures Series and it is a good one! Victoria brings us the story of Oliver a washed up model at the young age of 27 who has to do something to come up with another way of making a living. He comes up with a novel idea, Book Boyfriend Inc. that goes successful like gangbusters! It also brings him his own set of headaches. This story has hot chemistry, great characters, and suspense. I felt confident I would love this book as I have read the Secrets of Stone series Victoria co-wrote with Angel Payne. This is a very entertaining read, I give it 5 stars!

Having read and enjoyed other books in the Misadventures series, I was admittedly intrigued by the title of this book. Even the description of the book sounded good, so I took a chance. Sadly, I found the story just didn't do it for me. While I liked Oliver's business idea to offer a dating service based on women's favorite book boyfriends, I disliked that his first client was one married and two she had already booked a hotel room where she ends up leaving Oliver with some cash on the nightstand. And yet when Oliver's roommate says he has become a prostitute he is offended. Well kind of sounds that way to me. So the woman that Oliver gets involved with ends up being his first client, while she is still married. So if you have a problem with cheating this might not be the book for you. Then I just had trouble with all the drama between the girlfriend and the roommate. Overall this just didn't work for me.

This is the story of one time model Oliver and unhappy wife Bailey. They meet through Oliver's dating service and begin an affair. This book was not a favorite of mine and I have read others in the Misadventures series and enjoyed them. I found the cheating storyline disappointing. I will not give up on this series. This book just wasn't for me.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book before publication.

I’m not so sure Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend was really the book for me. I did like the idea of Oliver setting up an online service to bring Book Boyfirends to life. Loved that a man did the research into our favorite books and realized it was the way to a woman’s heart, and other parts. I just didn’t like that his hook up with a married woman, even though her marriage wasn’t typically a marriage, Victoria Blue is still an awesome writer and storyteller. I just don’t think this was for me.

A fun addition to the Misadventures with series, though this one didn't seem as strong as it's sister titles. Some of the characters were unlikeable, and the ending seemed rushed but there is some good chemistry between the male lead and the ladies!

Oliver is a washed up model that's gone from household name to a nobody. Desperately in need of fast cash, the model is Inspired by the passion he sees in a handful of romance novel fans, his Book Boyfriend Incorporated is born. In the midst of the booming business, he ends up of being the “boyfriend” of the lonely housewife, Bailey. Unlike any other woman he has courted before, the chemistry is undeniable but his love and personal life intensifies when Oliver is put to the test of loyalties between his longtime best friend and his new romance.

Overall, “Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend” was just your average romance book. There weren't too many pros nor cons to nitpick on and the series didn't stand out. Average read with average characters that were less than memorable. Due to the lack of excitement, I didn't care enough to finish this.

I was not a fan of this book, at all. In fact I almost DNF it, but since it was so short and I received an ARC of it I felt like I should.

I’ll get this out of the way first. Yes there is cheating and grey area prostitution. Oliver wasn’t hired for the sole purpose of having sex, it was more of a if it happened, it happened kind of thing, so take what you will with that. The cheating did bother me because Oliver just seemed to accept it and move on. It made it seem like he had no morals or was just easily duped. There was no remorse on either parties part about it either. There were even parts where the woman complained about her husband cheating when she was doing it too! Ridiculous.

Anyway, moving on.

The story line was just bad. I liked the concept a lot, but it just wasn’t executed well. I thought we were going to see a lot of the dates and the different roles that Oliver was going to play, but we see one and it was a boring one at that. Then there’s the whole Skye, political aspect that was just so.. ridiculous. I mean that ending? Really? If you like General Hospital then maybe you will like this?

I hated Oliver for so many reasons. First of all, he sounded like a woman. I expected someone way more masculine than him since he’s playing all these book boyfriends but he is in no way shape or form book boyfriend material. Unless you count only his looks. Also, he kept saying he wasn’t an idiot, but I’ll be honest, he came across like one the whole time. I swear I felt like I was reading about a 17 year old who fell in love with an older woman. Which brings me to...

Bailey. How old is she supposed to be? I kept picturing a 40 year old woman but I don’t think it’s ever addressed specifically. She just seemed SKETCHY to me. I didn’t like her and I got nothing but bad vibes from her. The two of them are not a book worthy couple.

Skye was the only halfway decent character in the book and I didn’t even really like her either. I thought she came across catty a lot of times, but there were also times when it was totally justified. She did have a lot of petty moments, too.

Overall, do I recommend this book? I know I’m in the minority when I say this, but NO. I’m sorry but this one did not do it for me.

Had a lot of promise...wanted to like the characters. Only liked Skye. Everyone else felt very fake and disingenuous. Not terrible but missed the mark.

The name of this misadventure is what really grabbed me, and Oliver's idea is a unique one. Changing careers and going out on a limb like that is great. I think his spunky neighbor was my favorite person, though. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and feeling invested in their relationships. The storyline itself was interesting and unique, and had a good flow. The writing was good, too. If there were half stars, sorry it would be a 3.5 for me, if I'm being totally honest.

I really enjoy this book. Oliver was a model whose career had suddenly disappeared and he had NO money. Luckily he lived with his best friend who was a girl but they were bff's and not romantically involved. He overhears some women at the pool talking about their lack of love life and he gets an idea to become the book boyfriend they all want. He had to start reading romance novels which he did not love at first, but he learned a lot. There were ups and down and huge problems with Skye (his roommate) when she found out. If was quite interesting to see the interaction with the neighbor who helped him start his business.. A fun book to read with romance, hot sex, misunderstandings and a huge scandal. Very worth reading.

Anyone who has read a romance novel - from Austen to modern day - has secretly wished for a leading man to leap from the pages and sweep them off their feet. AKA...a Book Boyfriend. After a chance meeting at the pool, model Oliver Connely turns this idea into a business. Along the way, he makes new friends (I want more Jeanine!) and test his relationship with best friend Skye. And of course he finds the love of his life.

This was the first book I've read by author Victoria Blue, but it won't be the last. I enjoyed her character development through the story and the plot twist surprised me (that doesn't happen too often, especially with a romance). This was also the first book I've read in the Misadventure series. Each book in the series is a standalone story written by different authors, so you can read as much of the series as you want and in any order - and I can absolutely recommend Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend as a fun - and hot - place to start!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. Thank you to NetGalley and Victoria Blue for this opportunity.

I thought this book sounded really good. When I started reading it, it was cute. Then it quickly turned into many things I am uncomfortable with. First off, cheating. Not my thing. Second, prostitution.. Blah......

tl; dr: Broke dude pretends to be your favorite hero.

I love the Misadventures series for its brevity and consistent quality. Each book is written by a different author, retaining the author's general niche. These books are a nice way to be introduced to different authors as well as different types of romances. Victoria Blue was new to me but now I will look out for her. She did a wonderful job with characters. Her facility with dialogue and character-development was particularly noticeable as the main character took on numerous roles. She differentiated his "characters" from his own voice beautifully. Despite the fact that his character falls into many romantic novel tropes, the storyline did not. The book felt surprisingly fresh and interesting. Solid read. TW/Note: there is a Pretty Woman like career choice in this one.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
