Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.

The Little People Big Dreams series are always great, and I'd always happily recommend any and all of them to customers. I'm yet to find one I don't like and they offer a great introduction to some fascinating people for kids (and in some cases adults too!).

This is an excellent series. The people written about in the series aren't your run of the mill children's biography subjects. But they are all intriguing people and make for interesting reading. The illustrations are going to appeal to the kids as well. These books are a good way to broaden their horizons.

This is another book in the ”My first ____” series, which is for younger readers than the ”Little people. Big dreams” series.
I adore these books, and I love how well the writing and the illustrations go together. Together they tell the story of a famous person’s life, and what they overcame to reach their goals and dreams.
This book tells the story of Maria Montessori.
In this book we hear about how men and women didn’t have the same chance for education, and how one determined woman changed that. It also showed how not everyone learns the same way, and that it is perfectly normal, something that’s important to remember as you grow up and go to school.
I received this eBook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

We have read several books from the Little People, Big Dreams series and they are great for littles. My oldest son always asks lots of questions about the subject of the book, plus I end up learning things too!

A fantastic introduction to a revolutionary woman. Beautiful illustrations, kid-friendly language, and a great biography. Dr. Montessori has had a huge impact in my family and it was fun to have a resource that was kid-centered to share with my son about her. Highly recommend for Montessori families or families with kids interested in becoming teachers someday. I was given the chance to review a digital Advanced Reader Copy through NetGalley to share my honest opinions with you.

Maria Montessori is a great choice for the Little People, Big Dreams series. As with all the others, it gives a condensed and accessible account of Maria Montessori's life for young children. She was born in Italy when girls didn't receive the same type of education as boys. As well, the majority of instruction and learning was rote, boring. There was little or no opportunity for creativity or person discovery. After dealing with a lot of barriers, she studied to become the first female in Italy to become a doctor. Working with disabled children, she developed new teaching methods to help them reach their potential. Ideas that are still used today to help children become curious and responsible human beings. This is a great addition to the series, as this informative book gives children the opportunity to learn about someone who worked hard, persevered and dedicated their lives to helping others. Once again the quirky illustrations added much to the story and give the reader/listener a lot to discuss. This series gives today's children many positive role models as well as inspiration to this generation to change the world. I recommend that this book and series be in all public and school libraries.

Until recently, I'd heard of the Montessori method but I didn't really know what it meant. This book lays out the theory in a clearly understood way: learning can be fun; a child learns better when he has some agency; and anyone can learn if you find the right approach. Most importantly, this book points out that Montessori's first students were warehoused handicapped kids. They were never intended to be educated so she had freedom to test her theories. She genuinely cared about and believed in these kids. Her devotion has meant a better life for generations of kids.

Maria Montessori is the reason Montessori schools exist. And while her history and background is very interesting, I wish the book had gotten into just a little detail of why a Montessori school was different from other schools. It does talk about learning stations and play, but not why it is so much different. I think kids who don’t go to a Montessori school, might not realize why this was/is so unusual.

I already reviewed a lot of books from this series and it is an instant favourite - especially when I get to learn something new too because I did not know much about Maria Montessori.

Happy for the new information. The illustrations were nice too, although it does not stand out as much as some of the books in this series had.

Maria Montessori's determination to never falter and to strive more is truly remarkable and inspirational. The method of teaching that she left is still being used by a lot of schools all over the world. She is another outstanding and inspiring woman who left a great mark in history especially in education. And young readers who will read this children's book will learn a lot and will be inspired by her life story.

My daughter and I love this little series of books so I was excited to get Maria Montessori as an eARC. Of course the illustrations are beautiful as always! My daughter really connected Montessori, because she doesn't love school either but does enjoy learning on her own. I think it was helpful for her to see an example of how women can power through adversity and come out on the other side equipped to help others.

This book is another great inspirational addition to the "Little People BIG DREAMS" series. Maria grew up in Italy at a time when girls didn't receive equal education to boys. Her supportive mother saw to it that she got a good education and supported her daughter's dreams. Maria, displaying great intellect, went on to study medicine. Later on in life she became an expert in early childhood education. Her ideas were revolutionary at the time and kids all over the world benefited from them. She made learning interactive and fun and as a result kids began to love learning in these innovative learning centres that Maria founded.

The illustrations are colourful and enrich the simple text. The book includes a mini bio of Maria Montessori to help kids learn more about this creative hands-on educator. If you look around where you live there may be centres using the Montessori method of learning right near you. I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

As the mother of a four-year-old who attends a Montessori school, I was excited to see this accessible biography about Maria Montessori! Dr. Montessori developed a pedagogical approach that empowered students to take control of their environments and their behaviors while simultaneously foregrounding the importance of community. This short biography, written by Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrated by Raquel Martin, introduces students to the work of this remarkable woman from early experiences that prompted her to pursue teaching to her activist work to provide children with developmental disabilities agencies and improved life chances. This is a wonderful book, great for parents and educators interested in introducing young children to strong and impactful women!
