The Dark Ones by Rachel Van Dyken is the first book in her The Dark Ones saga and though I have read many contemporary romances by this author, this paranormal story captivated me in many different ways. A story where humans know all about vampires and how they may be called to serve them and not in any way you would think off. When Genesis is called, she is placed with Ethan and their connection is undeniable and beyond what either imagined. But there are dangerous forces all around them. I was drawn into this world and loved it!

Happy reading!

Such an amazing read! I loved The Dark Ones by Rachel Van Dyken and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves complicated plots in their paranormal romances. Great characterization and the plotting is awesome. I seriously loved this one and want more!!

I don't usually read paranormal but I do read Rachel VanDyken so...here we go! I really enjoyed The Dark Ones. It was full of mystery and sexiness! There are so many complex and amazing characters!

Vampires, werewolves, sirens, archangels, and "Dark Ones" who are immortals living in the world alongside humans. The plot lines are complex at times but still exciting and interesting. If you love PNL, you will LOVE the Dark Ones!

And even with all of that going on, there is angst, heartache and OMG moments!

4.5 Stars!

This is the first time reading about paranormal and I have to say I am fan. I loved this book. I loved reading about Ethan and Genesis. I didn't want it to end. I wanted more. Highly recommend reading this book. I can't wait to read the rest in the series. Ethan is a vampire. Genesis is a human. Genesis was taught the opposite about the immortals and vampires. Her mother was not very nice to her. Having her say she is ugly and nothing. Ethan is trying to protect Genesis. You will have to read this to find out the rest. You won't be disappointed.

It was a bit slow going in the beginning and I couldn't quite grasp what was going on and hard time following the story. I stuck with it and am happy that I am not among the haters. I enjoyed this tale because of it's different PNR spin.

For someone that writes romantic comedy so well, Rachel Van Dyken sure can write darkness! I love the Elite Eagle series and this one rivals the darkness of that series. Really well written and a lot depth!

I'll be honest, I'm not much of a supernatural fan, but Rachel Van Dyken does a wonderful job of spinning this fantasy world of Immortals that Genesis is sent to. Unbeknown to her, Genesis has always been destined to be with an immortal but will this new world find her mating and being with Ethan for eternity or will the plan go awry? Who will she end up with or will this world be her downfall? If you like fantasy, you will enjoy this book.

I love books where they have supernatural elements, especially if it's ones with vampires, werewolves and a little sprinkling of romance is always a plus in my book. While there were elements to this book I liked, it just didn't do it for me. The whole book felt a bit rushed that I kept wishing for a bit more worldbuilding and more time to get to know the MCs. We're given this really interesting world with so many different supernatural/paranormal elements to it but little information how it happened or how it continues to be the 'norm'. Overall, I feel this book had so much potential and so many elements to it that would've probably worked for me if a little more of the plot and storyline was fleshed out. It had so much potential!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, given by Netgalley.

I LOVE Rachel Van Dyken, all of her stories are like a drug to me, once I pick them up there is no stopping until I've consumed the whole book.

This story was no exception, I went in blind, knowing I was gonna find some supernatural component to the story but I wasn't sure what exactly that was gonna be.

I was pleasanty surprised that this book wasn't just about one supernatural genre, it has it all!

Each character we meet is just perfect and I loved all of them from the start. Of course Ethan is one of my favorite, but I gotta say that Mason was my ultimate favorite one. I don't think I've ever chosen wolf over Vamp but there is just something so special about him that called unto me.

Than being said, this time around we get Genesis and Ethan's story and its nothing short of exciting and sexy. She has no idea what this world she just fell in is, and everything she thought she knew is a lie. She will have to trust these people she just met if she wants to stay alive.

Enemies that turn out to be friends and stranger that might be everything you didn't even know you were looking for.

Simply incredible!

This book was so good! Genesis and Ethan are the hope for the future in this vampire/angel world. She has to trust him and he just has to open himself up to her but can they both do that? Ethan was scrumptious but I can't wait to read the others stories as well, especially Mason's.! I am now of the opinion that Rachel can do wrong!

Though I’ve heard a lot of praise for this author, this is my first book by her. Let’s just say that I was not disappointed. I devoured this book in less than 24 hrs. I loved it. The whole premise of Angels and vampires and sirens and werewolves living among humans is pretty far fetched... but this story is written in a way that isn’t cheesy or over the top. We follow a human who has been called I to the immortal world and witness all the consequences surrounding all involved. I was drawn in from the first page and I didn’t want it to end. Great read!

I can't believe I waited so long to read this. It was different in a totally good kinda way. There are so many different stories that involve immortals but Rachel's was different. I read the book in one sitting. Rachel never disappoints though. All the characters were likeable with their different personalities. If you love paranormal reads if definitely recommend this book.

I usually don’t read Vampire books or much Paranormal, but come on, it’s RvD!!

I love this authors style of writing and have read about 35 books by Rachel Van Dyken that are different genres and she does it so well!

To be honest I had a hard time getting into the book, but then it started flowing together and I couldn’t put it down. Genesis and Ethan are so perfect for each other. I immediately bought the second book in the series after finishing this one and read that in one sitting.

If you’re not into Vampire, Werewolves and Angels, take the plunge and you won’t regret it.

I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

The Dark Ones
by Rachel Van Dyken

Genesis grew up in a verbally abusive home. She was taught at a early age that she is nothing, and she is ugly. That was her daily mantra. In school she learnt, that if her number was called up, she would teach the paranormal’s children. So what happened when Genesis’s number is called? She finds out she been lied to by everyone for her entire life.

As a number is called up, the immortals are hoping that this number will be the female to be the one in the prophecy. But first they had to save her from the King. And the only one that could save her is the one immortal that doesn’t want another mate.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well defined and the plot was just the right amount of intensity!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is book one of the Dark Ones Saga. In this book you meet a great group of characters. Rachel did a fantastic job making this fantasy world come to life. Genesis is marked by both the king of the immortals and a vampire. You get to read about her journey after that's happened and see who she chooses. The Dark Ones was such a good read. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but I ended up really enjoying it! 4 stars

4.5 Touched by the Dark One

I found this freebie randomly on Amazon because I LOVE this author .. and then I was given an ARC of sorts and was pleasantly surprised my kindle pulled up two copies when I searched for it haha. I have no idea what 2019 is doing to me but MAN is it giving me TONS of vampire books!

I wanted to live.
This story is dystopia in its own way very hunger games like. Genesis is a human and all her life she is groomed (like the rest of the town) to be really smart and know everything because one day her Number will be called and she will then report to the immortals to enhance their way of life. Genesis grew up in a home you would call verbally abusive in nature and it has obscured her mind. Genesis has been chosen by Cassius an immortal archangel and his touch brings icy cold death. Before he can finish his mark a gang of other immortals (shapeshifters, vampires and sirens (oh my!)) decide to band together to rescue Genesis from Cassius and also rescue the vampire Ethan from the lonely existence he faces. Once again another immortal story I didn’t expect and one I quite enjoyed. This is a book you pick up and lose time and space in and all of a sudden it is over and you realize the book is a standalone and you scream!
