Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
While I love the authors previous books and I did like this one, just not as much as her others, I found this book to be somewhat unrealistic when talking about Rowan. Maybe it was meant to be that way, who knows. Rowan just seemed so innocent and niave to the point of being childlike. Who is like that anymore and especially at her age? I don't think she should have been promiscuous but maybe a little more wordly than she was.

As if Hurricane Franny was not enough, a family feud is about to turn violent. After being run out of town nearly two decades ago, Bowie James returns to Blessings to rescue his girls, aka his grandmother Pearl and aunt Ella, by rebuilding their home. His arrival into town will stir up a family feud with the Boones. The feud causes a domino effect of tragedy and grief for all involved.
Although they are currently without a place to live, the James woman step up to help Rowan Harper. She is all alone in the world with no worldly possessions, thanks to the wrath of Mother Nature. Bowie soon becomes her unlikely knight in shining armour.
I always enjoy returning to Blessings. When a new book comes out it is like catching up with old friends
Thank you to Netgalley for providing a copy of this book for review.

It has been a while since I have read any of Sala's books (and it took me a while before I cracked this one open) but man did I enjoy this one...

I didn't realise until I looked on goidreads but this is the eighth book in the Blessings, Georgia series - luckily it was one that you can read stand alone... but I think it might have been even richer if I knew the back story for all the secondary characters in town (I'm thinking of the Sheriff and lawyer here), so I might have to find the rest of the series and gave a binge read!

A good story, with some entertaining characters - I enjoyed this and will definitely be making another trip to Blessings, Georgia!

Lovely story of second chances, not just in love but in life as well. The Boone family needs to get over it- seriously. Bowie left town as a teen because of their abuse but he's come back after a hurricane to help his grandmother and aunt rebuild. They, those wonderful women, took in Rowan, who also lost her home and when Bowie meets her, he realizes she might not be blood but she's part of the family. This is a gentle romance, one which might seem a bit hokey at times, but it's really nice. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A feel good read from a storyteller.

Sala’s Blessing, GA series paints an accurate depiction of what small town life can be- both the good & the bad, the helpful & the judgmental. Will definitely recommend this book & the entire series.

Hurricane Fanny blew away many homes in Blessing. Bowie James is returning to help his grandmother and aunt replace their damaged home. His return will resurrect an old family feud, that sent Bowie and his mother out of Blessings almost 20 years ago. Bowie is no longer an 18year old kid, but a successful contractor. Secrets come to the surface and lives will change for good and bad. Another GREAT read form Sharon Sala.

Helluva welcome home.

Remind me never to make him angry.

This is his grandfather?

Poor guy, having to demo his childhood home.

Surely, they could have given Rowan a key to the nursing home door.

What if she had gotten hurt and needed an ambulance? Was her father planning on being within reach for the rest of her life?

He is really good at this shopping thing.

The sooner Judson is dead, the better for this whole family.

Ha! Meta.

So much craziness.

Attagirl, Ruby!

Good for you, Junior.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Rowan Harper has lost everything, her home and her father, during Hurricane Fanny. She finds sanctuary with Pearl and Ella James in an assisted living facility as they await help from their grandson and nephew, Bowie. The facility has taken in those who have no place to go until they can make other plans. Bowie swore he would never return to Blessings, Georgia. He was beaten by the men in the family that his mother had accused of her own beating and rape, which produced Bowie. His mother is now gone and he is heading to Blessings to repair the damage, from the hurricane, to his grandmother’s home. Bowie is an honorable man and his return will cause situations that he will deal with one at a time in his own way. His one “blessing” in Blessings will be his introduction to Rowan. He owns his own construction company and had no plans to settle down as he goes from one site to the next in his motorhome. Will Rowan take a chance on him and the open road? A heartwarming and amazing story about the many lives and loves of Blessing! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

It was so good to be back in Blessings, Georgia!

The characters are amazing and as always the writing is superb. Sharon Sala really knows how to tell a story.

I absolutely loved Bowie & Rowan. They just make the perfect couple.

Bowie James hasn’t been back to Blessings since he was a teenager and hadn’t ever really intended to ever come back, but his grans house was severely damaged by the hurricane and he plans to fix it for her. Bowie knows coming back could start some trouble with the Boone family but he never expected to be assaulted or have his vehicle vandalized within the first 24 hours of being back. Bowie though won’t let anything stand in his way of helping his gran.

Rowan Harper is all alone now that she’s lost her home and her father to the hurricane. She’s been seeking shelter at the nursing home and has become quite close to Pearl & Elle James.

When Bowie surprises his girls, he can’t leave Rowan behind, so he takes her with them.

Wow! Blessings is full of all kinds of Drama. I won’t say too much more, I don’t want to spoil the story, but I will say you definitely don't want to miss this one.

A Rainbow Above Us by Sharon Sala is the 8th book in her wonderful Blessings, Georgia series. As always when we return to Blessings, Georgia, I loved this story. In A Rainbow Above Us, Sharon Sala gives us another wonderful feel good romance and a great couple.

Bowie James, our hero, returns to Blessings after many years, to help out his grandmother and aunt. In the last book, a hurricane damaged a number of properties, and Bowie’s grandmother sent a letter to ask him for help restoring their house. Bowie is a successful builder, and returns home with some of his workers to rebuild the house. When he arrives at the nursing home (being used as shelter to those whose homes were destroyed), and he brings his grandmother, aunt and a young girl to his huge Trailer to live until he can repair their home.
Rowan Harper, our heroine, is the young girl who has been spending time with the two older ladies, as she too lost her home, as well as having no family. She is thrilled that the ladies insist that Rowan come with them to stay with Bowie.

Years before, Bowie and his mother left town, after the mother was raped, and the young boy was beaten. Returning to Blessings brings Bowie face to face with the nasty Boone family, who try to chase him away; but Bowie is not little boy anymore, and stands up the family. While the story revolves around Bowie and his family, and his slow built relationship with Rowan, there is the side story of the Boone family self-destructing. Cora Boone, the matriarch, takes one look at Bowie, and realizes that he is her grandson, and she had been lied to all those years. She will take matters in her own hands to disown her entire family; especially her husband, Jud, who has always been a bully.

As Bowie and his team begin their repairs, he enjoys the time he is spending with his family, and feelings he is beginning to have for the sweet beautiful Rowan. The small town of Blessings begins to snub the Boone’s, especially after Jud loses his temper attempting to hurt his wife and then Bowie. Life will change rightfully so for the Boones, as the town turns on them, but Cora will stand tall.

What follows is a fast-paced, heartwarming story in a small town ravaged by a hurricane, with wonderful characters that we keep meeting in all our visits to Blessings. It is also a story of two families so different; one filled with love and the other filled with hatred. I really loved the building relationship between Rowan and Bowie, as they made a wonderful sweet couple.

Sharon Sala writes another fabulous story, and she continually amazes me that she gives us such great couples that we care about with each and every book. If you enjoy a pure romance, wonderful characters, great couples, and a small town atmosphere, then you should be reading this series. A Rainbow Above Us was a wonderful read, written so very well by Sharon Sala.

I have only read one other book in this series, and like before, it reminds me of a 1950s movie, with the chatting dialogue and the southern flavor.
The story center mainly around Bowie James and on a lesser degree, Rowan Harper.
Bowie left years ago in the middle of the night with his mother, after he was beaten and his life was threatened. He is back only because his grandmother and aunt asked him for help. Their home was destroyed during Hurricane Fanny and are now living in a nursing home. Here they have taken Rowan , a young woman who lost her father and all her possessions in the hurricane, into their circle. He rescues them and takes them to his luxurious trailer.
Bowie’s return brings back the evil people that chased him away, but he is now a grown, honorable man able to defend himself.
Suffice is to say, that the story is at times heartbreaking. We meet the very dysfunctional Boone family, where the men are evil, and bullies . But karma has a way of showing up when you least expect it and their days of glory are numbered.
It’s a story of survival, overcoming the odds , redemption and in the end finding inner peace and love.
Though at times I found the dialogue too wordy and would have cut out 1/10 of it, as well as a little different from other books by this author, it still was entertaining.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

As an immigrant I left a lot of my biological family behind in my home country and forged a strong family of the heart in this country. Having lost her only family in the hurricane that devastated Georgia, Rowan Harper has forged close ties with the James women. Now Bowie James has come into town to rebuild his Grandma's house and Rowan is invited to stay as family not that Bowie views her as sisterly material.
Bowie is a child born of rape but his biological family on his father's side does not want to acknowledge him. In fact they once chase him and his mother out of Blessings when Bowie was still a child. Now old feuds rear their ugly heads but Bowie is older and wiser in his handling.
I enjoyed watching as Bowie re-builds his grandma a house she can be proud of, woos rowan and deals with his paternal family.

Bowie James has come back to Blessings Georgia, a town he swore never to come back to. His Grandmother and Aunt have been staying in a nursing home after their home was destroyed in a hurricane. Rowan, a young woman who lost her family in the hurricane has been helping them. Bowie has returned to fix the home of his Grandmother and Aunt. Some feuds never die, and Bowie has a run in with the family he was hoping to avoid on his first day.

This is a delightful story. There is some heartbreak in this book but it is also a story about families, healing and new beginnings. You will come to love the residents of Blessings. This book is part of a series but it could also stand on its own. I look forward to the next book in the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

This is the eighth book in the Blessings, Georgia series. You don't have to read the whole series to enjoy this one but it's really nice to catch up with all the older characters. Very enjoyable series and read! I just love this town and look forward to each new book. This story focuses on Bowie and Rowan. Nice romance and a quick, relaxing read. Recommended!

Bowie James has been gone from Blessings, Georgia since he was young. He hated the idea of coming back but he had to help his grandma and aunt with their home that was demolished in a recent hurricane. He brings the ladies and their friend, Rowan, to live in his motor home while the house is being rehabbed. Rowan is also a victim of the storm, losing her home and her grandfather. She is kind, beautiful and loved by the two older ladies which endears her to Bowie very quickly. Bowie has his own big trouble in town from the first day with a family that has long been in a feud with his relatives. Author, Sharon Sala, once again hits a homer with this sweet story. Realistic characters and a well-woven story make this five stars for me!

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca, an imprint of Sourcebooks, for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Sharon Sala has won my heart with this series and A Rainbow Above Us proves why this is such a wonderful series! Not only is this is gorgeous and sweet romance, but it shows how people who don't believe in love can find it in the most unexpected places. I love how Sharon doesn't make it easy for her characters- they are some of the most realistic in any stories I have read, but makes their journey worth it.

Overall, this is a gorgeous story and series and I think anyone who enjoys a heartwarming romance about overcoming the past should grab a copy ASAP. I plan to purchase this in paperback because I loved it so much. It also belongs on my bookshelves with all the other paperbacks I have for this series (I have all of them LOL).

Return to the fictional world of Blessings, Georgia with A Rainbow Above Us by Sharon Sala. For those of you who have been reading this series, you will recognize all of your favorite characters. This story is about Rowan Harper and Bowie James. Bowie is a native son of Blessings but was chased out of town as a teenager with this mother. Conflict and strife abound as his “real” family realize he is back. Rowan is a refugee from the recent hurricane and in need of a new family.

Bowie is a builder and comes back to Blessings to rebuild his grandmother’s home that was destroyed by the hurricane. All Bowie wants to do is help his family, but trouble seems to follow him everywhere. Rowan was staying temporarily at the nursing home while she decided how to proceed with her life since her home was demolished. Bowie not only takes in his grandmother and aunt, but Rowan too. As with most of Sala’s romances, Rowan and Bowie have to cross some obstacles to get their happily ever after.

I usually stick with an author until I’m bored with their writing. This is the eighth book in the Blessings, Georgia series and I can honestly say that I’m still hooked. Sharon Sala has a way of writing easy-to-read, homespun tales that keep me interested. If you are looking for an uncomplicated afternoon read, this is the book for you. I do recommend you read the other books in the series to really catch all that is happening, but you don’t have to read them to follow this story.

I have lucked out on books to read. Another hit, from Sharon Sala. I love the Blessings, Georgia books. I remember the first time I read Curl up and Dye. I love the quirky town and all the people in it. Its the kind of small town you want to live. People have your back through good and bad. Poker night was hilarious. Got to love "My girls" as Bowie calls them. By the end of the book I wanted to shout go Cora. Can't wait for next book after teaser at the end

I love this series, it's heartwarming and always make me feel good.
Ms Sala knows how to write a book that will keep you hooked till the last page and root for the characters.
I liked everything, from the plot to the setting, from the well written characters to the romance.
I look forward to reading the next installment.
Highly recommended!
