The story of Zane and Alyssa did not disappoint. The world building, as shown in previous pieces of this series, is excellent. The characters are well crafted with believable and great backstories. The chemistry and interaction between Zane and Alyssa sizzles and takes center stage. The writing is smooth and easy. There is suspense and action and softness. This is a great addition to the series and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me through NetGalley. This book was just absolutely wonderful. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down. This is the ninth book in the SWAT series and even though I hadn’t read the previous books I was just so lost within this story that I didn’t even care that I hadn’t read the previous books. I most definitely will read more by this author.

The SWAT series is no stranger to surprises, a few books back the team of highly trained alphas learned about The One and then found themselves the targets of an assassination attempt. SWAT member Zane Kendrick’s search for the ones responsible lead him from Dallas to Los Angeles where he meets FBI agent Alyssa Carson who may or may not be part of the group that is trying to eradicate all werewolves. Meanwhile Alyssa is trying to solve her latest case that involves missing girls and a body drained of all blood.

That Paige Tyler sure knows how to keep readers invested in her characters! Wolf Instinct packs quite the punch if you’ve been reading the series from the beginning. Which I highly suggest you do before picking this one up. All the wolves are hunky but Zane’s got a little something extra… He’s British! *insert sexy accent here*

FYI in my mind he sounds a bit like Clive Owen. *swoon*

Anywhoo, Wolf Instinct relies a lot on the plot for its pace and it works so well when it comes to the suspense and action. Just who is snatching young women off the streets and why? Is it connected to the attack on the SWAT compound? Those questions and more are answered even as more questions arise. It was quite the ride, however I do think that the romance took a bit of a blow with this book. Zane and Alyssa’s relationship is definitely of the “insta” variety and I had a difficult time buying into their declarations of love after only a handful of days in each other’s company. Even if Alyssa is The One for Zane, I would have liked their love story to rely less on that legend and more on them getting to know one another.

Romance aside though, Wolf Instinct had me firmly in its grasp and part of the reason is because Tyler really lets readers get to know her characters. Zane has been around since the beginning so he’s familiar but if you’re just jumping into the series, Zane is a great guy to start with, though I really do recommend reading the series in order. Paige Tyler doesn’t disappoint and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is the ninth book in this series and finally we get Zane's story We have always known him as the too cool British wolf shifter and got to know a little more about him when he was injured but now we get his full story and what a story it is.

Zane blames himself for the death of his squad mates when he was in the British SAS and then he became a monster and lost his fiance and family. He found a new family with the members of the Dallas SWAT but now he is about to find someone even more special. Alyssa has secrets of her own she is hunting the monsters that are killing women in La as their cases overlap they are drawn to one another Will she be able to handle his secret will he finally get the love he wants This is another character driven addition to this series where the adventure and intrigue are just part of a wonderful story If you haven't read any of this series do yourself a favour start at the beginning you won't be disappointed

This is the 9th book in the SWAT series and while it can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend that you read the previous books because otherwise you won't understand the bigger story ARC or what has happened to lead up to events in this book. In this book we finally get Zane's story! Zane is in LA trying to find the man who came after his pack. But while there investigated with some of his pack mates, he meet's FBI agent Alyssa. Alyssa knows there are things that go bump in the night, and her department handles the strange things that may come up. What she doesn't know is the full extent of just how different other's may be. And neither expect to find out that things in their world may not be as cut and dried as they thought they were.

I have been impatiently waiting for Zane's story ever since he was hurt in a previous book. And let me tell you, this book in no way disappoints!! I absolutely loved it! Zane is working through his issues as much as possible but he still has personal issues that he has never truly dealt with. But even believing the worst about himself, he still stands up everyday and attempts to protect other people with everything in him. Alyssa is the perfect person for him. She is snarky, kick butt, and she doesn't hesitate to do what needs to be done. Regardless of how she may feel later about her decisions. And he is just as perfect for her. This book also has a decided twist that I absolutely loved! I had wondered about how the bigger story arc would continue to play out, and with this twist I think it just opens it up make it even better! I can't wait for more books and to see exactly where this new story line takes us.

This installment has Zane, our wounded British SWAT member, finding his "the one" while in LA hunting down the fugitive who betrayed and tried to destroy the pack. While Zane is still battling the physical wound that he received a while ago, we quickly learn that he has some emotional wounds that still run deep from his "turn" that he must work through if he hopes to achieve his HEA with Alyssa, the FBI special agent who's current case intersects with his. There's good chemistry as well as give & take between the two as they dance around each other, secrets and desire. The author changes things up a little by keeping the bulk of the focus and action on these 2. The rest of the large SWAT cast is mostly absent from this story, but it doesn't suffer. The battle with the Hunters heats up and new elements are entered that blows are wolves world open as well as the possibilities for what the author may have in store in the future. From start to finish, this was an enjoyable, well paced read. While it could work as an entry point into the series, it's recommenced that the prior books be read in order to better understand some of the back story and mythology of the series. Now to start the countdown to the next book.

This is Book 9 in the Swat: Special Wolf Alpha Team. I think this is my favorite out of them all. It can be read as a stand-alone with no problems. Zane is after the guy who attacked his team. He goes to Los Angeles and finds him. While he does find the guy, he also finds Alyssa, who is an FBI agent. She agrees to work with Zane and his team. The chemistry between these two is fantastic but she’s not looking for any romance right now. She’s about the job. This story is fast paced with a lot happening. I highly recommend it. I really loved reading this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.

Wolf Instinct is the ninth book in Paige Tyler’s SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series. It is a direct continuation of the series and I think you need to read all of the books to really understand what is going on. Plus, every book seems to add a little more to the Werewolf lore. Considering the amount of books there are in this series, I am impressed that Paige is able to keep things interesting when I would have thought that she would have ran out of new material. As with all of the other books, a member of the Dallas SWAT team meets the one and things go crazy from there.

In Wolf Instinct, SWAT member Zane Kendrick meets FBI agent Alyssa Carson and she is a lot more than Zane is prepared for. Zane and two of his teammates are in hot pursuit of the man who orchestrated the attack on his pack and is also responsible for Zane almost dying from being poisoned. They end up in Los Angeles, California where they not only meet Alyssa but also run into more werewolves as well as a few other surprises that I didn’t expect. For one, Alyssa’s division of the FBI is a lot more informed about creatures that go bump in the night than anyone would have known. Secondly, the pack finally finds out who sent the hunters after them in the first place. Again, this is a continuation from the previous books so if you don’t know what I’m talking about, I can’t help you. This world is very intricate and missing any detail will leave you lost. But that’s what I love about this series. You can really get lost in the drama and the action. It’s a great escape.

A lot that gets revealed in Wolf Instinct that really takes the series in an unexpected but fascinating direction. I can’t get into much true detail because that would ruin everything. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. Zane and Alyssa were really good for each other and their love story was just as good as all of the others in the pack. Everything else that happened was really the icing on the cake. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Death has breathed down his neck more than once and nearly got him leaving him permanently injured, but Zane will not be left on the sidelines when a deep betrayal nearly destroys his SWAT alpha pack family. Wolf Instinct was anticipated story in this sizzling hot series, but, then again, they all are.

Wolf Instinct is installment nine in the SWAT series, a blend of paranormal romance and romantic suspense where werewolf meets police work. The early books might be easier out of order, but some of these later books build on previous books even though a different SWAT member is in the spotlight.

Zane is former British SAS, but a mission gone sideways left him off the team with a medical retirement, distance from his family, a broken engagement and what he sees as a monster inside him. Gage Dixon his SWAT commander brings him into the alpha pack fold and he has gotten back a bit of what he lost. But, then a policing case in which the werewolf hunters nearly killed him with a wolfbane bullet leaves him with a weak left arm and an attitude that he must prove himself. He goes on the mission to LA to help track one who betrayed and the pack was nearly killed on their home ground. And, that's when the expected danger comes with a whole lot of weird and encountering a human woman who may be his The One. Guess which prospect is the one that scares him?

Alyssa Carson has seen a lot of weird since she joined the secret FBI unit that investigates cases that have strange, inexplicable aspects to them. Her best friend calls her in on a missing persons case. Young girls, from the vulnerable population of street kids, orphans, and runaways are being targeted. One body was found- drained of all its blood. Alyssa is following a tip on a certain nightclub and spots some girls meeting the criteria who are very much being stocked by a rich, creepy guy with a wall of bodyguards when another operative steps in and deals with the threat in a way that no human could. She hunts monsters, but can she ally with one to save the missing girls? His dishy Brit accent and amazing looks along with his willingness to respect her ability and work with her go a long way toward persuading her.

As usual, I love what the author does with her romance pair. She gives them engaging personal back stories and current situations. Most of the conflict is personal rather than between the pair though there is some because he's a werewolf and she must learn this and accept it, but the conflict and angst make sense with the characters and situations. I can't say how refreshing that is to not see stuff blown out of proportion just to stir up things. The author relies on the action conflict paired with what they need to overcome separately which becomes a teamwork thing when they want to help each other. In Wolf Instinct, Alyssa must learn to trust a partner in work and in relationship because she has always stayed fiercely independent and works best alone since she went through a traumatic event in her past. Meanwhile Zane pushes people away because he doesn't think he deserves their love because he has survivor's guilt and sees himself as unworthy.
This pair sizzle with attraction from the beginning and I loved how they were able to stay on the case and explore what is building between them.

This series has gone alone for a while slowly building the werewolf culture and their world that includes their police careers and the secret world of protecting other, more vulnerable, werewolves from the growing threat of the hunters. Someone is backing these hunters with the funds, equipment, and manpower to wipe out the weres. Wolf Instinct takes the current series arc trend and gives it some decided twists in its path. I suspect there had to be this possibility when I gave it some thought, but it was a surprising twist that I found quite the series game changer and broadened the possibility for future books.

In summary, this is a can't miss book in the series and will knock the socks off series fans. Zane and Alyssa are a fab romance pair and the action was as sensational as usual. If you want a solid gold pairing of romantic suspense with paranormal romance involving some sizzling hot alpha werewolf SWAT police team action, grab up this series.

This is my first Paige read, looks like I have 8 to catch up on in this series. I enjoyed the suspense in this story, the action, the drama and the sizzle between the characters. Could a human and a werewolf be soul mates? What will she do when she finds out what he is? She's a strong kick-arse woman which I admire in a story. A fun read, I highly recommend it.

Actual rating: 4.5 stars
Personally I thought this was the best book in the series so far of the ones I’ve read. I loved that Paige dipped into more of the supernatural world and introduced us to other supernatural beings. The book got super intense at parts which I loved! The ending wrapped up a little too quickly for me which is the only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars. I would have loved more of their story before the book ended but it is a HEA and sets up for book 10 so hopefully we will see more of Zane and Alyssa then. Without giving away any potential spoilers I really enjoyed how Alyssa reacted to some things that happened with Zane toward the end of the book. It had a whole Beauty and the Beast feel. Overall I thought it was a great book!

A fabulous addition to the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team, Wolf Instincts is Zane and Alyssa’s story. From the well delivered story to the dynamic characters this is one book and series I will continue to promote and read more of.

Wolf Instinct is the ninth book in the SWAT series by Paige Tyler. It delves deeper into new faces in the SWAT team and fleshes out the intragroup dynamics. While some of the favorite characters from the SWAT team do make cameos in this book, the focus is on illuminating the back stories and focusing on the character development of the lead characters, Wolf shifter and SWAT Officer Zane Kendrick and the deadly FBI agent Alyssa Carson.

This book introduces the female FBI agent Alyssa Carson, who is part of a secret FBI unit that tracks down and stops supernatural creatures. On a missing person case which has blood-drained bodies turning up, she takes the help of Zane and his team.

Wolf shifter and SWAT Officer Zane Kendrick is a highly powerful lycanthrope who is an integral part of Gage Dixon's Dallas SWAT unit. After seeing the others of his pack find their soul mates and fall in love, he too wants to find his one while protecting the city from threats old and new. He will do whatever it takes to take down the man who attacked his pack.

Together, Zane and Alyssa work together to solve both the riddle of the missing girls and track down the forces that sent hunters to take out the SWAT unit in Dallas. What they find is something out of their wildest dreams or nightmares. This book does justice to its name and is truly spellbinding. Paige Tyler’s expansion of her werewolf mythos has given ‘Wolf Instinct' more nuance and depth while melding humor with paranormal suspense. Her characters have such depth that you just can't help rooting for them.

Thanks for NetGalley for the ARC

On this ninth installment to series, Tyler finally brought forward other supernatural elements to the SWAT universe. Not only that, the premise also expanding to LA as the team chased down who they believed as mastermind to the attack and ambushed the pack members suffered. I thought it’s a clever move of the author in it gave broader scope for the following action to come (I mean, obviously it’s time for this pack to branch out).

I was equally chuffed and curious to find it’s Zane Kendrick’s time to take the spotlight as lead man on WOLF INSTINCT. More so once I completed the opening chapter of the book. Man oh man, poor Zane. Those who followed this series must know the incident that almost cause his death but instead resulted on his bum arm. While it is expected this is his turn to find ”the One” I applauded the plot how he got to go about it. The love interest, Alyssa Carson, is more than an FBI Special Agent, too. I liked how these two weren’t too emotional characters. The majority of the time they were rather level-headed and didn’t easily let lust (and attraction) distract them. True, the speed with which they fell in love (with each other) was as instant as snapping fingers. But it’s something I could still tolerate in a paranormal genre and - again - how deftly the author played with the storyline.

With all the good vibes I got for the most chapters, I was quite vexed for carelessness that stirred the climactic scenes and the following results (that felt rushed and too much being told rather than shown). All things considered, WOLF INSTINCT to me is another win from the ups and downs of “SWAT” installment. The pace dynamics, the weight and proportion of scenario, corresponding with the characters’ impact and impression. It also indicated preliminary towards the possible lead character for the next book which I really hope continued this neat delivery of Zane/Alyssa’s adventures. I’m rather hopeful my wish to be proven true!

4.25 Hearts While this can be a stand alone I suggest that you read the series so you understand what SWAT is all about. That being said you can read this on its own and enjoy it. This is Zane and Alyssa’s story. Alyssa is FBI who looks for exactly what Zane is. Zane is SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team).

I really enjoyed the storyline of them meeting. And the romance was sweet and sexy at the same time. Paige Tyler has written a lot of shapeshifter books and I have to say that sometimes they get routine but not this one. This one I have enjoyed more than I have in a while.

I loved the paranormal and suspense mix in this book. This is the first book in the series that I read . It works well as a standalone as anything that is needed to enjoy this story is explained. Zane and Alyssa were very well developed characters. I was a little surprised how well her friend Christine took the existence of supernatural .

For “Wolf Instinct,” the 9th book of the SWAT series, author Paige Tyler brings readers to the City of Los Angeles with Dallas-based SWAT werewolf Zane Kendrick looking for the hunter who had attacked his pack with the hope that this will also lead to finding the mastermind on the constant wolf attack all over the country.

In his investigations, he crosses path with FBI agent Alyssa Carson who is following a lead to the same nightclub that Zane was. A kindred spirit of Agents Maulder and Scully who once upon a time investigated extra terrestrials, Alyssa investigates monsters including paranormals.

For Zane, it was recognition at first sight that Alyssa might be “The One” for him. Though not thoroughly convinced, he has to give credence to the legend. After all, his packmates had found their mates.

But, before he can even bring the subject up with Alyssa that their liaison might be more than just sexual and physical, they have to solve their respective cases first. And more importantly, Zane has to look inward before he can go forward with Alyssa.

“Wolf Instinct” is the 9th book in the SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) series and the storytelling continues to be strong. Author Paige Taylor adds a new dimension in each book, making them unique. It’s not just because there is a new romantic hero and heroine. It is also because Tyler adds new facets to this fantasy world she had built.

There are many surprises in this book. New twists and new characters make this installment pump up your adrenaline.

“Wolf Instinct” should be in your must-read book for the summer. Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance strongly advised due to thematic violence and sexual content.

Zane Kendrick is a man who once seemed to have it all.
Looks, charm, a beautiful fiancée.
But that all changed when he answered the calls of duty and country.
Trading in the civility and metropolitan flair of London, for the wartorn deserts of Afghanistan.
And once there, managing to be the only survivor of a unit of soldiers. Turned band of brothers.
But little did he know that the losses suffered on the battlefield were but a taste of far more bitter ones to come.

As Zane struggles to reintegrate himself into the life and relationships that he held so dear before he was deployed.
Struggling to come to terms with the fact that war has changed him in ways that neither he, nor those he loves can ever hope to understand.

Flash forward 11 years...
Zane is now a member of a very elite, though very unorthodox SWAT team. Based out of Texas. Tracking a very unusual kind of killer through the bright lights and big city that is Los Angles.
What is it that link both predator and prey in this most deadly game of "cat and mouse?
That would be the object of both of their attentions.
Werewolves
With one seeking to save. And the other thirsting for the thrill of the kill.

Allyssa Carson is just a girl who has seen more than her fair share of " hard to explain things and situations" as part of her job with a rather exclusive branch of the FBI.
But even so...
There is no way those experiences can prepare her for her next assignment.
Or the man that might just be her supernatural destiny.

Though Wolf Instinct is this reviewer's first foray into the world that is Paige Tyler's SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. Zane's story is actually its ninth book.
Offering an overall story that has more than a few stellar reasons to read.

Just a few of the obvious being.

* The new and very interesting turning through trauma angle.
* The way that Alphas find the members of their respective packs.
* The fact that Alphas work together with other Alphas against a common foe.
* Zane's British. (That's just plain sexy.)
In fact, everything about Zane's part of the story and that of all the wolves is what earned the stars given in this review.

It was everything else about the kidnappings, shadow organizations, Alyssa's being Zane's "one" etc...etc...etc.
That pretty much spelled out "been there, done that.
The story is very well written.
But what starts off a a journey into some pretty innovative territory story wise.
Takes a pretty disappointing turn into the mundane.
As things progress.
