Really enjoyed this novel. The writing flowed and the characters were depicted very well. Couldn't wait to find out what happens next.

3.5 stars. The lead character in this story, Wendy Katz, is such a real and genuine peek into about 80% of the women in the world. Less than perfect in the body size department, lovingly devoted to her husband and kids, and a bit unsure of herself. She is also kind of naive, has a bit of an overspending problem and is obsessed with food. Her husband is an undeserving jerk, and she conveniently doesn't see the signs that something isn't quite right. Things slowly spin out of control for Wendy and life unravels. This is just a good and honest look at life, decisions and consequences.

3.5 stars for this fun adventure of a book! I had my doubts the first half of the book, the main character Wendy was not very likable, and it was hard to sympathize with someone who overspends and "borrows" money from the school committee she's on. Fortunately, just after the halfway point the fun adventure and mystery begins. That's when the book really becomes a page turner.

Fun with mystery and intrigue, but lighthearted so none of it is scary or will keep you up at night. Great beach read!

Why I didn't rate it higher - the food descriptions I was so excited about got kind of repetitive. How many versions of a chocolate layer bar are necessary to write about. Also, a couple of racist references were totally random and totally unnecessary to the story telling. Grandma Cookie thinks the black woman invited to Thanksgiving dinner is "the help"? In a condo where they've never had "help"? We get it, Cookie is a miserable woman, you don't have to bring in a hateful moment that doesn't even make sense to the story. Also, when Wendy calls her credit card company to check why her cared is rejected and "Sally" answers even though she's pretty sure Sally's real name has 13 letters...random dig at Indian women and their names. Cheap, easy joke that I thought was rude.

“Food Baby” is a hilarious, cannot put down novel, by Debbie Lehner Rosenberg. The novel opens as Wendy and the Katz family begins a fresh new start in Florida. The Katz family left New York due to a scandal related to Husband Steven’s job (though what happened is not clear to the reader at first). Wendy struggles to make friends, control her compulsive shopping tendencies, and be both a great wife to Steven and dutiful mother to her two children, Tiffany and Jordan. Wendy loves to cook and the description of some of her efforts leave the reader salivating.

It is easy to identify with Wendy as we all have found ourselves in situations where we try to be better versions of who we are. As an adult pulled into a brand new setting, how often have we found ourselves in situations where we were desperate to fit in? While some of the other characters such as Steven could be more developed, I found the plot entertaining and finished the book in only a couple of sittings. I look forward to the next novel this writer produces and recommend this book whole-heartedly.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. My thanks also to author, Debbie Lehner Rosenberg.

Food Baby Debbie Lehner Rosenberg is a quick read. It is set in modern times as Wendy and Steven Katz move their family from New York to Florida after a scandal. They are living in a townhouse while their new home is under construction. Daughter Tiffany’s friends are amazed that her parents are still married after 15 years and her mother actually cooks meals and snacks as well as baking for the school bake sale. Wendy is determined to make the right friends and does all she can to impress attorney Alice Powers who actually delegates many of her mom duties to her assistant, Keisha. Wendy and Keisha do become good friends as they work together. With Keisha’s encouragement and assistance from her ten-year-old son Wendy starts a food blog called Food Baby. Steven becomes very distant and Wendy begins to be very suspicious but are her suspicions warranted o is he overwhelmed by his new responsibilities. Will they make the move to the fancy gated community and dream house or will it all fall apart like in New York?
I liked this book and it did keep my interest. The ending is a bit unexpected though we gather hints along the way. I give this book 4 of 5 stars. The main characters are pretty well developed and I came to rooting for them but some of the others I really didn’t care what happened to them.
I received an advance copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Exciting to see a woman start reaching her potential

Food Baby by Debbie Lehrer Rosenberg was an interesting read. Wendy, like so many woman tries very hard to be there for her each of the members of her family, often at her own expense. The plot has some interesting twists that along with all the wonderful food descriptions really pulls you into the story.

This is a foodie’s dream book come true! The way this author writes about food will have you wanting it all!! And then the mystery and suspense that is woven in to this ‘normal’ life is just fantastic! Highly recommend!

This isn't the standard housewife who loses herself in a myriad of self doubt and subsequent weight gain. It was blatantly obvious her husband was having an affair. However, I wished the book started around the time of her discovery so we could see her move on and claim her own success.

Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for the advance copy of Food Baby.
I totally loved the book. Wendy is just trying to make some friends in her life, and how to diet and fail. She is trying to be everything for everyone. She is too funny without trying to be. Wendy is just someone I would want to know.
What a gem of a great book. I read all night and laughed. A BIG 5 stars for Food Baby.
