Really excellent. During a family vacation, the father is out on the lake with his young daughter when he sees his wife abducted from the shore. He frantically tries to row them to land so he can pursue them, but by the time he reaches the shore, they have disappeared. This was a fascinating psychological thriller, wherein everyone had secrets that they’re keeping. I’ve read other Gregg Olsen books and have enjoyed them all. I definitely enjoyed this one.

I like Gregg Olsen’s writing style. Fast-paced. Lots of realistic dialogue.

I didn’t like Lying Next To Me as much as other works by Olsen. Above all, the characters are more than flawed. They are despicable. It was hard to root for anybody.

This is about the disappearance of a man’s wife, the search for her and an investigation into who committed the crime. This takes place in summer cottages outside a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Prior familiarity that the characters have with each other factors significantly into the plot.

It was kind of obvious who did it early on, as characters were introduced that clearly served the purpose of being the perpetrators later on. A plot twist at the end altered the expected conclusion somewhat.

Nevertheless, a suspenseful, exciting read.

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. (less)

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I struggled to get into this story (it wasn’t until I was 60% of the way before I became interested). Multiple plot lines are woven together giving different POVs and backstory. This leads to characters being dropped and brought back in which took me out of the story as I tried to remember who they were. The red herrings dropped throughout the story did have me questioning what the final outcome would be.

When Adam Warner's wife is abducted in broad daylight 50 feet away from him, he is at a loss at what to do. His father in law is sure Adam did it, but the police have their sights set elsewhere.

This was a twist and turn book that was fun to read. Right as you think you have it all figured out, Olsen throws you in a completely different direction. I really liked the different prospectives of many of the main players. I felt like it gave them a depth that wouldn't have been achieved otherwise. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the twists and turns of mystery books.

What an amazing thriller! I loved the character development and stayed up way past my bedtime to find out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this author.

Wow, this was an awesome book! Each chapter focuses on a different character and with each character telling his/her story, I thought I had it all figured out until I moved on to the next chapter.

There were twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout the entire book.

Lying Next to Me is set to release in May 2019 and I highly recommend this to anyone that likes a good mystery/thriller.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for this advanced readers copy.

Loved this book. Gripping, traumatic, scary, creative and just brilliant. The plot, the characters and everything mingled together to see how cunning the characters are and the twisted plot they weave in their lives. I hate to write reviews that tell you what happens in a book, but this book is very good .

Another great Gregg Olsen book! I’ve loved almost all of his books and this one did not disappoint! I read this is one day. Couldn’t put it down.

A riveting, thought provoking suspense that pushes every one of the reader’s emotional boundaries. The characters are broadly developed and poignant creating the perfect balance within this manipulative narrative. While more avid readers of this genre may pick up on the plot twist early on, Olsen throws so many curve balls in the storyline that the entire experience is worth the read. 5 stars.

Thank you to #NetGalley for this ARC of #LyingNextToMe in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent book! Another one that I couldn't see the ending coming until I was reading it. I love suspense novels and this author has this genre down. I will be reading more of his books.

Sophie and Adam have marital issues they hope to reconcile on a long weekend trip—however that all comes crashing down when she is abducted. The neighbors in the surrounding cabins and an eyewitness account lead to an investigation that’s stems long past that long weekend.
This was a quick read with an easy to follow narrative. A bit predictable at times and hurried with some details, but a good read. The timeline could have been laid out better—maybe with months/years at each chapter as it was hard to differentiate when in time a chapter took place at times.
Overall, I’d give this book three stars. It was a good read, but nothing I haven’t seen before.

Affairs, abduction, murder, lies...this book has it all. Every time I thought I had one aspect figured out, I turned out to be utterly and delightfully wrong. The story is told from each character's viewpoint, which really made the plot hard to predict. Who abducted Sophie and why? Are the cops the good guys or the bad guys? Reading Lying Next To Me is like reading at 80mph. I had to know what was next as soon as I possibly could and I completely enjoyed the ride!

I really enjoyed this book. It was my second book I've read by Gregg Olsen and I'll be reading more. His writing is easy to read and the story kept me wanting to read more. I kept questioning who and what . The twists were turning left and right and ended with a surprise. You'll be happy you read this one. #LyingNextToMe #NetGalley #GreggOlsen

Anger, deceit, and murder are what makes up Greg Olsen’s latest novel “Lying Next To Me.” Adam loved his wife Sophie and when she is abducted right before his eyes he feels as if his whole world has been ripped apart. He now finds himself as a single dad struggling to find a way to make sense of the world. Kristen and her husband have been working so hard to have a baby that a weekend away seemed like a good idea until they get embroiled in Sophie’s abduction. Two couples with nothing in common become intertwined in a matter of a moment and Greg Olsen has expertly crafted a story that will keep the readers entertained by all of the twists and turns. This is a suspenseful tale that I highly recommend.

What lengths would you go to, to get the life you want?
Three beautiful cabins, Memorial Day weekend. A woman is abducted in plain sight, while her husband and daughter watch from a boat, unable to get to her in time.
She's found murdered, and everyone thinks the husband was involved.
As detectives fight to solve a case, the players involved fight to remain free.
Excellent novel, well written, with quite a few twists to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Loved this tangled story with tons of unreliable narrators. A quick read with a great twist at the end!

This was the first Gregg Olsen book that I have read and it was good. I enjoyed the story and the "what happened to Sophie" mystery, but I never really felt connected to any of the characters. There were several twist and turns that I was not expecting. It was a quick, fast-paced read that was hard to put down at times!

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for giving me the chance to read this ARC.

Another great Gregg Olsen mystery! Don't miss this one, but don't start it unless you have plenty of time to finish it! Exciting thriller that will keep you guessing.

Betrayal in two marriages leads to a well-planned murder. How do two couples with seemingly no common denominator land in the midst of a murder that seems not quite right from the start? Gregg Olsen keeps the reader wondering right along with Lee, an investigating officer with a somewhat horrific link to Adam, whose spouse was murdered. Lee yearns to believe in the Adam from her past but can't ignore the questions her partner raises during the investigation. As she struggles to bring the case to a close, Lee stumbles across details that cause her to realize that the past may not predict the reality that is the future.
