Title: Next Door Knight

Can a dog heal two wounded souls?

Newly single Kerry Williams is at her wit’s end. She's juggling her injured father’s care, a new job as the manager of a hip new restaurant and her therapy dog Willow volunteering at the Veteran’s Center – all while struggling to rise above her humiliating heartbreak. When her father's caretaker fails to show one evening, she’s terrified she’ll lose her job. And then Willow runs away. Panicked, Kerry gives chase and immediately runs smack into a tall, dark and sexy wall of muscle, palming a squirming bundle of fur. Her new hero seems like an answer to her prayers.

The last thing K-9 officer Caleb Bradshaw wants, is to babysit his neighbor's father and her dog. He’s facing a potential career-ending injury and grieving the death of his working partner, Trigger. Sure he can handle a cranky old man, but the quiet comfort of Willow who follows him around with liquid-eyed sympathy tugs at the heart he’s trying to keep walled-off after his many painful losses.

Kerry knows Willow can ease Caleb’s grief, but he continues to push her away. Even though her life is in shambles and she too should walk, Kerry knows she can’t and won’t. Will Caleb accept her help or will he close himself off completely?

Would I recommend it yet? Yes

This story had me laughing and smiling all.The way though it thanks to Willow, his a adorable and a little escape artist who is determined to help Caleb and his owner Kerry come together. As for the two main characters it took me a while to like them but the more I read the more I liked them and could see both of their points of view, Caleb had just lost his best friend /partner ,his dog Trigger and was trying to find his way , while Kerry seemed at first a little pushy but she grew on me like Caleb it,with that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it.

Next Door Knight is book number two in the Man’s Best Friend series. This is Kerry Williams and Caleb Bradshaw’s.

I enjoyed this read even though the characters drove me crazy at times. I loved how Willow, Kerry’s dog, could help bring healing and happiness into so many lives.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A lovely story of people needing emotional and physical help moving on with life at turning points in their lives. Nothing heavy, just delightful and rewarding.

Enjoyable story. I really quite enjoyed this story. I thought the heroine, Kerry, was a well thought out character, and I liked the way she reacted to her challenges throughout the story. Caleb, the hero, was not quite there for me but very likeable, and improved as the book progressed. The book could do with some further minor editing as there were some distracting typos. Overall, a pleasant read.
Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was a sweet, yet at times emotional book but we happily read when we have a wonderful pet. We Kerry who is struggling to keep up with all of her responsibilities. She has a dad that really needs her help, she volunteers at a vet center with her adorable dog that tends to steal the show in this book and her job, but I was rooting for her the whole time because she was smart enough to have gotten out of a bad relationship. We have Caleb (who we were introduced to in the first book) and your heart went out to him, yes sometimes you wanted to knock around a little but you understood, he was haunted and it was difficult for him. Kerry was just what Caleb needed along with out adorable corgi..Enjoy!

Next Door Knight wasn't what I expected. As an animal lover, I always enjoy reading books that include cute dogs or cats in the story. Willow is a smart little dog used to help people. I loved this cute aspect of the story and how she also plays matchmaker. Unfortunately, Willow is the only likable character in the story. Both Kerry and Caleb came as moody and unstable most of the time. The story started to drag pretty soon and I couldn't engage in it.

I’m actually at a loss for words with this one. I liked the concept of the story and overall it wasn’t bad but I couldn’t really connect with the characters. I did love Kerry’s relationship with her father, little Willow (she pretty much stole the show!) and I liked the message of supporting your neighbors, your community and especially those who sacrifice so much for our country.

This was a second chance at life story. Yes there is a love story intertwined but it was secondary to Caleb and Kerry overcoming their past and finally start to heal.

First half of the book was great. I loved Willow and I loved getting to know both MCs. The second half had time jumps and pushing away from both characters that didn’t help cement their chemistry and this is where I felt disconnected. Aside for the physical attraction, the emotional side of their relationship felt rushed, without explanation and kind of fizzled out. I wanted to root for them and was happy with the cute ending but their set up felt too staged and without any of that heat I expect from my romance reads.

Kerry became a bit too repetitive and I felt like she blew things out of proportion towards the end. It didn’t endear her to me. Caleb on the other hand was a decent guy, I liked watching him grow stronger and seeing him mature and get to a better place both emotionally, mentally and physically was awesome. I liked him and was happy he got his happily ever after in the end.

Two wounded hearts that the cutest rescue corgi, Willow will bring together. Kerry and Caleb are neighbors that Willow brings together by escaping into Caleb's yard. Caleb is on medical leave as a K-9 officer and the last thing he wants in his life is another dog. Kerry is trying to manage life as her father's caretaker and a new job. Caleb offers to help with Kerry's dad and soon a friendship to develops. They are both hiding past turmoils in their life's but will Willow save the day?

A heartwarming story that Willow steals by heart. Great characters that I so enjoyed reading. This is the second story in the series but can be read as a stand alone.

Who are Kerry, Willow, Eric, Ethan, Chris, and Caleb? How do they know or meet one another? There is definitely 6-degrees of seperation on this one. Who is Winthorn and what role does he play in what happens during the story? What I thought would end with an HEA with 10 minutes left in reading, I'm not so sure. Can two broken souls heal one another and get their HEA? Read and find out!

I enjoyed NEXT DOOR KNIGHT on several levels, but I have to admit upfront that it is one wiggling bundle of love that truly captured my heart as Willow steals every single scene that she’s in… and rightfully so.

Kerry and Caleb both have deep emotional scars that are evident throughout their story. Kerry is emerging from an abusive relationship, Caleb is recovering from a serious injury physically but also emotionally from losing his beloved K9 partner in the same incident. While Kerry is attempting to go beyond her past she’s also overloaded with responsibilities right now, and Caleb simply wants to be left alone to deal with his grief in his own way but he really is hiding not dealing. They have issues that are relatable, but one pup who is totally in love with her neighbor and determined to not only heal him but make him part of her family will make a huge difference in both of their lives.

NEXT DOOR KNIGHT is emotional, it will tug at your heart with empathy and a need to see two people healed, and take a chance on each other. I was caught up in their world and their story from start to finish. If you enjoy a romance that goes a little deeper into the trauma that life often deals, and watching two people fight their battles to find and love each other then you’ll enjoy this story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This series Man’s Best Friend Romances is growing on me. Next Door Knight by Nicole Flockton is my favorite yet in this series of two books so far. Overwhelmed and overworked grown daughter needs help. The stresses of life including her injured dad’s health care are taken a toll on her. This is easily seen in the beginning of this story. Then there is the injured police officer who needs direction in his life now. One dog helps them to find exactly what each one needs.

The characters are engaging within a solid plot. Willow, an intuitive Corgi steals every scene she is in. Even the beginning where she is not even in it but missing. Loved that dog! This is a book for dog lovers everywhere, who believe that dogs really can be man’s best friends, maybe even dogs know best. Just ask Kerry and Caleb. Now I am looking forward to the next book to read in the series.

This is Kerry Williams and Caleb Bradshaw's story.
Kerry Williams wanted slink to her bedroom, jump into bed, pull the covers over her head, and hide from the world for the next two months. Unfortunately, life didn’t work out that way, so she had to suck it up and play the cards she’d been dealt.
The only good thing? Her new house was a major step up on what she’d been living in only a few weeks ago. Of course, if she didn’t find her dog and get her ass to her new job, she’d be back to living in a one-bedroom apartment in the seedy part of San Antonio.
“Kerry, honey, I’m thirsty. Can you get me a drink, please?” Her father’s voice floated down the hallway to where she stood in the kitchen, looking at the empty backyard, where only ten minutes ago, her corgi, Willow, was running around, enjoying all the extra space she now had to play in.
“Do you happen to know whose dog this is?” he asked. “According to its collar, its name is Willow, but the number listed is disconnected.”
Crap, she totally meant to get that updated.
“Willow’s my dog. I was just looking for her.
“Here.” He shoved Willow toward her, as if her dog stank like rotten trash, which Kerry knew wasn’t possible as she’d given Willow a bath yesterday. “Your dog is found.”

I never read the first book and I didn't really feel like I needed to read the first book. I thought the story was ok and I didn't really like Kerry .
