An engaging story and a quick one most of the times. I just think that it could have been better in terms of the writing and the pacing which sometimes felt off.

Holy hell, this was perfect and just what I needed to get out of my reading slump.
I had my doubts after the first few pages and the way she met Richard, but it got so much better after that!
Some things were a bit predictable but I don't even care, I'm teary-eyed and so emotional right now.
I need a Tate Castle in my life!

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC. I really liked this story and the mystery of Alex's past. The psycho who abused her is one sick mofo. I liked the interaction between Castle and her; she gives as good as she gets and so does he. Loved that ending, one this story deserved to its fullest.

I received this book as an arc from Netgalley.

Wow, what a roller coaster. The scene where she was beaten for the last time had my heart breaking for her, but, her strength had me in awe. This is the first time I've read anything from this author and I will definitely read her again.

Wasn't able to download this particular copy but I did buy it.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were amazing and real.
Inescapable was such an emotional roller coaster of a ride and invoked a variety of feelings as I was reading. It was at times raw and gritty and Ms. Fallowfield handled the subject of domestic violence with a great deal of sympathy and care.
This is my first book by C J Fallowfield and it certainly won't be my last.

I liked the book, but had a slight issue with it.

When you escape a life of being poor and struggling to survive, and are lured by a gorgeous millionaire and promised a better life, but then it turns out this person was a monster and kept you hidden from the world, locked up, abused and violated, how can you then escape his clutches for years before he is released from jail, only to run off with another millionaire for protection......someone you don't know at all. I just found it really hard to believe. It was hard to swallow that aspect of the story line.

Otherwise, once I got past that issue, I did like the book. Let me say this, the sex was HOT!

This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama and suspense. The story is intense and really draws you in. Alex and Tate are amazing characters with lots of depth, they both have been through so much. Their chemistry is steamy but will they find a way to be happy together?

I would give it a 3.5. I thought the story itself was good, but with some tweaking could have been great.

I must admit I have been wanting to read this author for some time as everyone I follow loves the awuthor. I was given an opportunity to read this book. Again remember I do not read synopsis so my journey into the book was pure and probably better because of it. The authors note at the beginning prepared my heart for utter devastation. The aauthor used her personal experience with domestic abuse to write this book now I am unsure which parts are fact or fiction but my heart hurts for the author and impressed at the way she healed along ewith it. This story however was more than just about domestic abuse. I think it touched on the topic enough and if it pulled more of it it would have changed the story. This story is about pain and suffering but it is also about growth and change. We are given three main characters ( two of course we like) and we get their story through it all. It ends in a beautiful and happy perfect place. The story consumes you and it is one you sit down fore just an hour to read and all of a sudden you read the end and you look up and 3 hour have passed.

This was an interesting book, I didn't know exactly what I was getting into when I started reading. I will say that if you're a little squeamish about mental and physical abuse from domestic violence and/or about the mention of suicide, this may not be the book for you. However, this is a story of rebirth and learning about inner strength.

This book spans many years from the prologue to the epilogue, I think like 18 to 20 years. When I read the very long prologue I felt like this was a remake of Pretty Woman, but then the book made a joke about it. I struggled through the prologue because it didn't seem like an original idea, but I was wrong. Chapter one we jump ahead 9 years to an abusive relationship. This is a hard chapter to read, but I do believe that this scene needs to happen for you to fully understand the main character's head space for the rest of the book.

I think the author did a fantastic job with the character development in this story. I think it was smart to have this book span so many years. I think the personal demons the main character is dealing with isn't something that 6 months can heal. Overall, a wonderful story of personal growth and learning that you are enough.

4 1/2 Stars ... A heart wrenching story with vivid detail!

Izzy moves to America with Richard six month after they meet and he becomes a different person. She ends up being his captor for 10 years. Izzy fleas to London where she reinvents herself as Alex the artist, but she will never trust a man again. Five years later she meets Tate Castle and he won't take no as an answer when he asks her to come with him to his island so she can paint the amazing views for his art collection. After Tate's wife commits suicide, he doesn't want to his risk heart again ... that is until he meets Alex.

This book is a really emotional read ... to hear in great detail all the abuse that Izzy withstood was heart wrenching. I really loved Izzy ... she was such a strong woman to go through all she went through and come out the other side a better person, when most people might have given up. And Tate was perfect as the knight in shining armor. The author painted a picture with such vivid detail that it was easy to picture what was happening.

I received an early copy courtesy of the author through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Title: Inescapable
Author: C.J. Fallowfield
Genre: Romance/Contemporary/Erotica
Rating: ★★★★(4/5)

SPOILERS AHEAD
Trigger Warning: Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
Note: The main character changes her name from Isabelle to Alex midway through the story. I will be referring to her as Izzie or Isabelle in the beginning then Alex when discussing the later parts of the book. I believe there is a distinct separation of the two in the form of different stages of her life.

Inescapable is an erotic romance that covers the serious topics of domestic violence and sexual assault. It is the story of a woman running from her past, until it catches up with her. Enter, Tate Castle, a man of mystery who brings with him the kind of compassion and understanding Alex isn't used to.

The opening scene included some great dialogue to establish the main character in the form of joyful kinship between her and Shaz, her best friend. In the first chapter, initial interactions between the man she meets, Richard, and Isabelle are very quick paced.

The author manages to paint Izzie's situation with Richard as abusive from the start while still keeping you in the narrators head space of believing he's good to some extent. I loved seeing Izzie's progress from hopeless faith and trust in Richard to realizing the kind of man he is as it all sinks in. Seeing the development through her perspective is eye opening as the relationship evolves.

In terms of the story setup, things can seem a bit jumpy at times, which might turn some readers off. But, if given the chance, it can be found to be the best way the author could have presented the story. Dialogue throughout remains true to each character and varies wildly from each individual. However, there were some occasions when the dialogue felt stiff

There is a sense of a renewal when she moves to London - breaking away from the abuse Richard had sustained to her. Keeping that in mind, the scars are still very present. She deals with paranoia and isolation among other things. And I think that is very true to the real experience of trauma victims.

The close knit group of friends she surrounds herself with is a great point of displaying the way she interacts with others. Tom, her assistant, is objectively one of the best character additions. His scenes genuinely made me laugh. He isn't dominantly in the book but his scenes always steal the show.

Once Castle enters, the story takes a massive shift in the way it is presented, which I enjoyed thoroughly. The relationship between Castle and Alex is such a breath of fresh air, especially after seeing the devastation of her earlier circumstances. Their chemistry is electric while they still manage to form a bond forged out of caring and mutual respect. Power dynamics of the characters are accurate to them in that the trust is given gradually.

The narrative kept me hooked and excited to read more. While the novel isn't setup for most of it to have the reader on the edge of their seat, or at least as I found, in the moments when the author required it I found myself unable to put the story down. The reader becomes invested in the telling and how the characters react to their environments, even if you don't necessarily follow the same logical thought process yourself. I did find some the pacing to be slightly sudden and jerky but it was nothing major. The incompetence of professionally hired protectors did seem to be a stretch.

There is a point in the story when the main character uses prison rape to insult the "villain" who had spent time in the system. I struggled with this for personal reasons and even debated giving it a lower rating because of this. But then I thought and realized that it was the character's way of thinking. If I don't fault the book for displaying the villain's grotesque thoughts of violence than how could I fault it for Alex's one time of reprehensible, in my opinion, reactions . She is facing off against her abuser and I can understand the feeling of wanting to target an individual who has been cruel to you where it hurts. That being said, sexual assault is a serious issue that affects many prisoners, mostly nonviolent offenders, and should not be joked about.

I really appreciate the lessons of love and strength woven throughout the narrative. The reunion with Shaz brings the story back full circle. The chess reference didn't click for me until the end but when it did I freaked out in glee because subtle things like that make my happy.

Inescapable manages to tackle serious issues well while still maintaining the heart and passion of an erotic romance. It is a delicate balance that I would argue was displayed quite strongly in the book. The halves of seriousness and lighthearted meld together to create a novel worth reading.

I loved this story of Alex and Tate.
In the beginning, I was unsure of this book because of the use of slang etc. but then it got really good. What Alex went through with Richard was heartbreaking and devastating. But then she meets Tate and although things are not perfect, it seems that this might be the man that makes her change her view of the male species.
I recommend this book!

Although there are many authors I read religiously; I am always looking for new authors to fall in love with. I've found her! Though a difficult subject matter to include in a book, it provides the intense set up for this romance novel. Alex and Tate are the main characters who this reader kept fingers crossed; they would rise to the challenge of healing, surviving, thriving with someone who cares and loves! Difficult to read some areas, but soul warming as well. Ms. Fallowfield has a new fan!

Absolute 5 star review! This book was so amazing I found myself laughing, crying, gasping, and smiling throughout this story. The attention to detail C.J. Fallowfield gave us was spectacular. I could read this book over and over again. Tate Castle could be considered the epitome of a perfect man. In other words, everybody deserves a Tate Castle in their life. I adored that each sub-story did not have a "perfect" ending (i.e. the scar treatment/tattoo) but found a way to end in a manner that would be equally enjoyable and realistic. As an individual that suffers from anxiety/panic attacks, I felt connected to Alex in that way. It felt as though a great deal of research went into this book and for that I am thankful.

A beautiful, emotionally raw, and transforming journey occurred on these pages.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are solely those of my own.

In the beginning stages of this read, I was tempted to drop this once or twice before finally becoming immersed with the story once “Alex” came into the picture. If you haven't figured it out already, C.J. Fallowfield's “Inescapable” has several sensitive subjects matter such as domestic violence that could be uncomfortable to read for some people. The series showcased Alex trying to rebuild her life after being trapped in an abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend Richard who later becomes more than determined to get his revenge. Settling into her new life, Alex meets Tate, a man determined to protect and shelter her from all the pain she has suffered from. Patient and understanding of the battered woman struggles, Tate become the ideal hero you can't help but root for. Their relationship is a back and forth battle, and Tate is doing everything in his power to allow Alex to become the “Tiger” he knows she can be. Furthermore despite my original reception of the series I was left impressed by the author ability to create a great story line and flaw characters. Overall, a read worth while.

This review is HARD to write just as hard is the topic it is about. Domestic violence, abusing survivor, learning to be your new self and defeating the nightmare you survived.
This story is some kind of manifest that even after enduring so many years do domestic violence any person can start a new life once again. It will be hard. It will take years but it will bring everything to its proper places in life.
Those are things that happened to Isabelle Knight, now called Alex Bishop. As a young girl, she had trusted a bad man with her life, her heart and became his beating toy only for him. After so many long years Alex decided that it was time to escape her own hell. Sounds easy? But... It's everything but it. This is just the beginning of the story as the story will follow her in her way of becoming someone mighty and full of power in herself. The whole process was well written and followed well with the complicated timeline.
Richard King... An abusive partner of Alex. He's just an excuse of a man that thinks domestic violence is a way for his own urges... Yes - di** was a well-suited name for him. I really liked how "his" chapters were so full of darkness and that it gave a great insight into his own motives - Izzie was his to do everything he wanted that's all people like him feel in the end.
Tate Castle - I really liked his character. He has past and is scarred from it just like Izzie (in different areas but it's still causing him some problems). He has power, you can feel him as an alpha male yet he has a sensitive side as well as a tender one when it comes to helping Alex. I loved how he was so considerate with her while trusting issues were growing strong on her side. Normal thing? Yet seems sometimes impossible.
Read this story and find out how Isabelle Knight became Alex Bishop after surviving domestic violence for a couple of years. This read brought me to my knees as I had not expected to find so many emotions here.
