I grew up reading Mad Magazine but it's been many years since I read one. This book did NOT disappoint. Funny and satirical, and at times extremely politically incorrect. This book is great fun.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read MAD and I forgot how much it made me laugh. I think my brothers and I received a copy in the mail or so long ago. Still with Current topics like Trump Era is like reading SNL. This has made me want to keep buying more MAD book or magazines.

This book provided me with some much needed irreverence during this uncertain and frequently terrifying time we are living in. I'm keeping it downloaded just to jump into a page here and there when I need a bit of a pick me up or distraction.

Not nearly well known enough in these parts as it should be, MAD magazine casts its satirical gaze at the 45th President of the USA's first couple of years in office and the results are scathing. With the never ending supply of news spilling out from the White House, one could be forgiven for having forgotten a number of the events the pieces refer to. However, the humour is so sharp it quickly cuts through any foggy memories in a hurry.

This collection got a few dark chuckles out of me and it's a definite must have for any fan of political satire who may find current events beyond parody. On a personal note, I felt the crowning jewel of this collection was MAD's tribute of sorts to Gorey's Gashlycrumb Tinies, which was nothing short of brutal and memorable.

Highly recommended.

With thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Much of this book, unfortunately, did not come through in the download. I would gladly review this book in full form in a different format, including digital or hard copy.

It was quite funny and many of the jokes covered news events of the past few years. I was surprised that so much had happened that I had forgotten many of the events. I sense of "oh yeah, that happened" took over me and it was like reading a list of train accidents. Hard to look away. Some of the jokes went over my head but that is par for the course with MAD. Not every joke is going to be for everyone but I look forward to going back in a few years and remembering all that happened.

Having been born in Europe, I don't have MAD as a reference when it comes to satire, but I had heard about it enough to know what I could expect. And I wanted to know what they had to do about this "error". While some of the politicians or issues dealt with were unknown to me, others were pretty well known and enjoyable (and by enjoyable I mean hilarious).
Keep doing your job, MAD! And Netgalley, thanks for giving me the chance to read it in exchange for an honest review.

Not something for my work library, but as someone who grew up on Mad way back when (one of the first issues I read was the issue with Nixon and Agnew(?) recreating an image from The Sting, I was curious. This is something of a mixed bag for an adult, but then Mad's always had a mix of the silly and the more adult-oriented brutal satire. The highlight is the tribute to Gorey's Gashlycrumb Tinies, a morbid A-Z picture book, here in the form of The Ghastlygun Tinies, an A-Z of children in a school shooting situation. It's the kind of satire driven by righteous anger that has long had a place in Mad, and it's unforgettable.

The classic Mad magazine that I grew up with but with all the current day Trump problems. 127 pages of Lampoon humor such as Trump’s bathroom tweets, Melania paper doll, North Korea Summit Agreement, “‘The Witch Hunt”, Putin’s desk, Hannity’s desk, Comey memos, Space Force, Fake News, and the classic Mad fold-in’s. A cute, funny read.

I really tried to get into this book as I'm a long term fan of the MAD cartoons and literally jumped at the opportunity of getting my hands on this ARC but sadly this did not meet my expectations. The book firstly put me off because it is very difficult to read it and enjoy it on a digital medium and in an app such as ADG, where you can't zoom in with any degree of comfort. Every time I tried to read a joke I had to spend several minutes trying to center it and then putting the page back.to its regular size just to do it again, several times. As for the content of the jokes, they are nothing different from what late night shows do every night, so for someone that already watches those, this book will not bring anything new other than the illustrations. Thank you to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Further proof for my theory that satire against Trump comes undone mid-Atlantic. For one thing, British satirical humour is a lot better than this. For another, too many of these people have never even been heard of in the UK (we kind of have our own shizzlestick to sort out, don't'cha know).

The wacky writers of MAD Magazine continue making fun of current events, this time turning their typical sarcastic, biting and satirical humor on the current administration.

I haven't read a MAD Magazine in years. Reading this was like a walk down memory lane - there were parts I actually laughed out loud.

Many thanks to NetGalley and DC Entertainment for allowing me to read an ARC of this paperback, which will be published 5/7/19, in return for an unbiased review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Amusing but not laugh out loud funny, this book is for fans of MAD and for people who love to laugh at our president. There were some passages that were funnier than other's for me, but people who enjoy the MAD format will probably enjoy this more than I did.

MAD Magazine is known for its satire, and this book is another winning lampoon. Trump Era (or error) as they declare it, is taken on and ridiculed in a very satisfying way. No one in the Trump inner circle is exempt- not surprisingly, Trump is a rich source of material.

I remember, as a kid, sneak reading my older brother’s copies of MAD when Richard Nixon was being satirized and even at that age being shocked that a president could be that dirty, that crooked, that dumb. Little did I know what was to follow. Trump has given comedians enough material to last well into the next century and MAD has jumped into that fray to do what it does best – make fun of the idiocy, mediocrity and lawlessness of a man who could not pass a third grade proficiency test but somehow become president of the United States. Sadly, I believe this says more about us as Americans than it does the Orange One. When you feel like crying, or screaming at the headlines, pick up this book instead and hope for better things in 2020

MAD About the Trump Era is an anthology collection of typically sarcastic, caustic, MAD humor. Due out 7th May 2019 from DC/Mad, it's 128 pages and available in paperback format.

Mad (and E.C. comics) has a long history of lampooning current events, culture, politics, etc. I grew up on a steady diet of their skewering everything from climate and films to political figures. I have been a lifelong fan of Mad, and still follow Sergio Aragones, Al Jaffee and others from those halcyon days. This collection adheres to the spirit of those bygone days, if not stringently to the contributors.

Many of this collections' entries are from the MadBlog or other issues of the magazine. They're all indexed and credited in the table of contents. This is a collection to be read a little at a time, lest the reader be (literally) saddened and nauseated by the state of the union.

Anyhow, this collection is full of brutally sarcastic humor. Basically everyone with any sort of profile in the Trump orbit gets skewered in this collection.

I enjoyed it in small, measured doses. It's important to remember to go read something else for a while if readers find their blood pressure spiking or experience desperation and/or depression.

Four stars, love Mad magazine.

OMG, MAD Magazine! I'm dead!

This book is hilariously right and hilariously wrong. No matter one's political affiliation you are sure to get a laugh if you have any sense of humor at all...and I'm mostly a Conservative!

We need to laugh a lot more in this country!

Thank you to the Various Artists, to DC Entertainment - MAD, and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

LOL. They strike again. Another great collection from Mad Magazine. Quick read and very funny. I enjoyed this immensely. This collection has something for everyone. Light but funny read. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion. Receiving the book in this way had no bearing on my review.

I love MAD humour and started this ARC as soon as I downloaded it.
It made me laugh and think.
It's full of the usual corrosive MAD humour and the designs are great.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC
