It took me a while to get round to this book, but by the time that I picked it up, I sure regretted wasting so much time because I instantly loved it.

This was so well written, you can’t help but love the characters. Lexi Ryan writes her characters and story so that you’re hooked from the start!

I really enjoyed reading this relatively clean romance that had a surprisingly large focus on depression and how that impacts those around it and how society views those that suffer from it.
In this case you’ve got one person who is open about the fact that they have depression but suffers from people’s perception of her mental state because of it. And on the other hand, you’ve got someone who’s lost someone to depression and doesn’t know if they can handle that in their life again.
Given depression wasn’t mentioned at all in the blurb I wasn’t really expecting it. But at the same time, the references aren’t over the top or what I would consider triggering. But you never know with these things.
Also, I loved this one so much after finishing it that I jumped onto NetGalley (this if my first one that I’ve officially requested and received!) to grab the next book in the series only to discover that #5 was available for request but none of the others.
So, what did I do?
I went onto Amazon.com.au and bought books #2-4 so I can read those before #5 in case I get approved! Fingers crossed I get approved so I can read and review it along with the rest of the series!

The Wrong Kind of Love
Book one in the Boys of Jackson Harbor

Nic has the absolute worst luck with relationship. She finally thinks she has it right and is getting ready to walk down the aisle on her happily ever after, but doubts have crept in. And wow, was she right to suspect her fiance was a lying dirt bag, but didn't expect her twin to be the other women.
Now all Nic wants to do is get away, why not take a chance and go to her sisters destination. Yet this is where everything gets really complicated as they are expecting Veronica and she's definitely not coming.
Dr. Ethan Jackson had been beaten down by the loss of his wife and now he wants to focus on raising his daughter. Yet his hours are chaotic and he needs a live in nanny. He certainly gets more than he bargained for when he finds the damsel in distress from the previous night is his new nanny.
Secrets are the name of the game and we all know how those end.
**I don't think we can gloss over the forgiveness that happens in this book, sorry but that continues to bother me, twin or not.

Book one in The Boys of Jackson Harbor. Definitely starts of with a bang. A nanny/father romance story.

Nicole who is a twin. She's too sweet and forgiving. She's getting ready to get married. But little does she know her sister is pregnant with her fiances baby. Well she does now right after her twin threw up all over her dress. So she runs and with nowhere to go she takes the job that her twin sister had lined up as a nanny.

Ethan is a single father after his wife passes away. He has built wall around his heart and has trust issues. He's a doctor and has an adorable daugther named Lily.

The sexual tension between the two is absolutelty smoking. Showing that love can heal hearts. But there's the little part of where Ethan believes that Nicole is in fact her twin sister. What will happen when the truth is finally revealed? Will Ethan be able to forgive Nicole?

I'm a first time reader of Lexi Ryan. Let me just say that this was a great read. A heartwarming story. Will definitely be needing to check out more of her books.

I enjoyed this story and the characters. Nic and Ethan were good together.  I loved Ethan's family and friends. However I felt Nic gave in too easily on a few things. I'm looking forward to the next book.

A woman finds love when she least expects it in this adult contemporary romance.

I love so many elements of this story. A broken engagement! Twin swapping! Precocious children! A large, adorable family! Makes my General Hospital loving heart happy to see such a fiasco turn into something amazing and sweet. Ethan and Nic have loads of chemistry – I instantly felt their attraction to one another. The lie starting their relationship actually felt authentic. Usually I hate when lies start a relationship, but I could see why and how this lie was perpetuated throughout the story.

While I loved many of the romantic tropes, I did not like the pacing. Once again, people, a love story needs time to develop and breathe. If I remember correctly, Ethan and Nic are happy and in love in less than six weeks. SIX WEEKS! Their individual arcs are quickly handle once the lies are exposed. These two do not spend nearly enough time together for me to believe their love is real or authentic.

tl;dr It may have had many of my favorite tropes, but it did a poor job putting them together.

After finding out that her twin sister, Veronica, is pregnant with her fiancé's baby, Nicole runs away.
She ends up in a small town pretending to be her sister. Veronica was supposed to start a new job in that town. But as nobody can tell them apart, it's the perfect opportunity to stay low.
The first night she meets a gorgeous man in a bar. But their moment together is cut short because of his job.
She stars working as a nanny for little Lilly. But what she didn't expect was that Lilly's father is the man from the bar, Ethan.
Even though they are attracted to each other, they are not ready to do something about it. They have been hurt before. But love doesn't work that way, doesn't it?
Sweet story, with good characters. And more brother to read about!!

Loved Nicole and Ethan! Nicole is getting married when her sister throws up revealing she is pregnant with her groom’s baby. Nicole takes her sister’s place as a nanny for a doctor. Before she goes to the interview, she nurses her sadness at a bar and has a one night stand with Ethan. Oh what a tangled web we weave! Such a great story! 5 outstanding stars

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
I felt a lot of empathy for Nic and Ethan. Both have suffered some very bad circumstances.
Ethan is sweet but afraid of ever connecting to another woman. He has an excellent family. He doesn’t need anything else.
Nic has been betrayed by almost every person she ever trusted.
This book is a quick read with the right amount of steam. I liked Nic, although I felt like she needed to stand up for herself more. I liked Ethan too but there were moments he needed a Gibbs slap.
The Jackson family is fun and loving. The mom made a very questionable decision but sometimes love clouds our vision.
I liked it and would read more about this family.

The Wrong Kind of Love by Lexi Ryan is book One in The Boys of Jackson Harbor Series. This is the story of Ethan and Nic.
Nic was set to marry but then her twin sister comes up pregnant and the father was to be Nic's husband. Nic totally shocked up and takes her sister identity to start a new life for a while in Jackson Harbor . Nic is set to caring for a six year old the daughter of Dr. Ethan Jackson. But to her surprise she had met him before and thought to never see him again.
Ethan is used to taking care of people and their problems...what he to do with Nic?
Enjoyed their story.

Lexi Ryan is a newer author to me. She has an emotional depth and original storylines that I crave. The Wrong Kind of Love was good. I didn’t go into the book with expectations, on that note it kept me entertained while I hated certain aspects. In this one you have swapping twins and hate to love dynamics, and a single dad. There is conflict and some drama. That’s not saying there isn’t anything to love about it.

There is.

But I found myself wanting a bit more intensity and connection to the main couple. There’s a lot going in the book that takes away from that element. It starts with the emotional baggage with each character. Some deceptions and secrets. With leads to pain and lust and romance. An inevitable chemistry, which pushes and pulls.

It’s a complicated mess but that only makes their attraction more intense and addictive. Which leads them on a long journey of healing and love. But there’s also a magical family dynamic that warms those frozen moments. That makes me happy to see where the storyline goes with each brother.

The Boys of Jackson Harbor series is definitely going to be a don’t miss series.

All in all is was good. I gave it 4 stars.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the ARC for my honest opinion.

Wonderful romantic story!

This is one of the first books I've read by Lexi Ryan and it won't be the last. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I was a little frustrated with the effects of the lies and secrets, but I know that's what kept the story going. Overall, I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and I look forward to reading more about the Jacksons.

4.5 Stars

I know when I'm looking for something to read, I can never go wrong if I pick up a Lexi Ryan read! The characters are memorable and she has an easy way of creating a world that I always want to come back to. I can say that I was addicted to The Wrong Kind of Love right from the start and didn't want the story to end!

Right from the first time we met Ethan, Nic could tell by his eyes that he harboured a lot of sadness. He was a broody character and we got a few little glimpses of the fun man he could be when he was with Nic. He had lost someone he loved and found it hard to let someone close again. The chemistry between them was intense, and even though they found themselves in a difficult situation, it was hard to bury their feelings.

Nic didn't want to deceive Ethan, but was encouraged to do so to make the transition easier for a few people close to Ethan. She was as honest as she could be, but I could see that it was going to come back and bite her. I liked that Nic made an instant connection with Lily, Ethan's daughter, and they enjoyed doing a lot of things together.

The Wrong Kind of Love was a fun and entertaining read. Although it started with a bit of heartbreak and betrayal, it soon became apparent that Nic never truly found the right love before. I really enjoyed getting to know Nicole and Ethan, watching the sparks ignite and their friendship grow! I also enjoyed meeting the rest of Ethan's brothers and his sister, and I look forward to meeting them again in future books. Well done Lexi Ryan, I want to come back to Jackson Harbour again!

This is a quick, fun read. The story was well-written, which is something I've come to expect from Lexi Ryan. Her characters in this story were easy to connect with and care about.

“Call me but love and I’ll be new baptized.” – Romeo and Juliette

Nic is new to town. She just fled from her home after finding out that her twin sister is pregnant with her fiancée's baby. Nic and Ethan were drawn to one another right off the bat. I'm not necessarily a fan of that but in this story it worked. After all, neither of them truly thought they would see each other again. It was just meant to be a one time thing - - they were both just trying to escape for awhile. Fate has other things planned when they come face to face with each other afterwards and realize that Nic is Ethan's daughter, Lilly's new nanny. Things just got a lot more interesting.

Ethan an Nic's story felt more original than many of the others in the genre. It started out similarly but took a little different turn along the way. I really connected with the characters. Ms. Ryan writes very relatable and likable characters. People you could very easily see yourself hanging out with. Along those same lines, I also came to care about what happened to them. I wanted to reach into the book a time or two and shake some sense into Ethan and Nic. I hated watching them trying to ignore their feelings for one another - what a waste! They both needed to get over their insecurities and embrace what was right in front of them....

“I wasn't afraid of the lie but of the truth. I was afraid that I wasn't enough. I never have been before.”

This is one of those reviews where I feel like my words aren't doing justice to the story - just go read the book!

A sexy, single dad read full of romance and angst. Two broken characters fated to meet with a whole cast of family and friends who encourage their romantic journey. Loved all the characters, although I wished Nic had a little more self confidence. What a great start to a new series!

This was a good read for vacation. I enjoyed it very much. There were twists and turns that kept me reading. It also dealt with a serious matter in a very good way.
