So many secrets between these characters. They came a long way and I really enjoyed watching where they ended up. At times an emotional read. Well done and entertaining. Overall a good read!

I kind of had a love hate relationship with The Wrong Kind of Love. There was some frustration on my part since the heroine came across as such a doormat. The premise was good and I enjoyed it for the most part.

The story of Nic and Ethan. She is running away after the disaster that was supposed to be her wedding, and ends up taking her twin sisters place in a new job. He is single dad who thinks he is fine on his own. They are both keeping secrets from each other, so how will their relationship fare once the secrets are revealed?

An emotional read at times, as it does deal with some difficult issues.

Really looking forward to the rest of this series!

The Wrong Kind of Love, The Boys of Jackson Harbor, Lexi Ryan

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance,

I've read a couple of books from Lexi, one I loved, the other not so much but I really liked the sound of this one...

I love the writing style, love the way the story unfolded, and of course the Jackson family and the folk of the town...there's something about small town romances that calls to me. Sadly though I didn't like either of the main protagonists and that coloured the book for me.
Nic, how much more of a wimp could she be? I understood why, felt for her past but at some point you have to make changes, but she just keeps on making the same mistake over and over, letting useless men walk all over her while she gives up everything. It seems she's been like this since school, falling in love with men who let her down, and of course having given up all dreams of education she's kind of lost. She thinks she's found love once more with Marcus, who asked her to marry him after two months, and six months on its her wedding day...and then THAT happens. How can your twin DO that? Seems Ronnie has done that all her life though, Nic gives and Ronnie takes.
She doesn't stop being like that though when she meets Ethan, lets him take from her, and then when she discovers he's her boss she still lets him take. Ethan was a real jerk to her, I kind of understood his reactions but he needed to suck it up, take responsibility for his actions. Instead he's laying blame with Nic.
Given she's supposedly heartbroken from Marcus I found it hard that she fell in love with Ethan so quickly, and that he fell for her. If there had been more time, say several months I might have believed in it but this all happens in a few short weeks, about a month I think, and it was just too insta-love for me, given Nic's past inst-loves and Ethan's determination not to get into a relationship, certainly not with his daughter's nanny.
The denouement is pretty much expected, and I understood the anger, but once more its over so quickly. And Ronnie...really? Nic's still playing sucker?

The story is good, the characters great, but its the timing that's the big struggle for me, I find it hard to believe Nic is really in love given her history of falling in love at the drop of a hat. Ethan, part of me loved him, part of me hated him, he really was an obnoxious jerk to Nic and she just took it....

I do want to read more in the series, I'm hoping its just this book, these characters and the whole time issue that's not worked for me. I'm keen to read Teague's story ( hopefully?) and some of the Jackson family's futures, but not Ronnie. I don't want to read a story that will make me like her ;-) She's just done too much to Nic for me to get past.

Stars: Three, potentially great read for me IF the timing had changed, events took longer, and if I could be certain Nic had developed some self respect.

4 stars

I loved this book. Every once in awhile we get a female lead who is a hot mess. In this case, it is Nicole. She has her world turned upside down, when her fiancee gets her sister pregnant and she finds out at her Wedding!! Nicole takes her twin sister's plane ticket and job in Jackson Harbor, Michigan. to get away from her life.

There she meets single dad, Dr Ethan Jackson. Widow and single dad, he needs her help because his mom is off to Europe. Small town living, and hot single dad equals one hot book for me! I loved this one! It was a little crazy with all the drama between twin sisters, but I still loved it! I can't wait to read more in this series

First of all, I am in freaking love. LOVE I tell you.

I am in love with Ethan. I am in love with Nic. I am in love with that little princess Lilly. Everything. This entire world that Lexi Ryan has built completely sucked me in.

I am even more in love with the fact that Lexi Ryan was able to write such a relatable and honest character with mental illness. Somebody who was not ashamed of their demons and who also was not completely overtaken by them. It was wonderful to feel represented.

I literally have spent the last 4 hours on the edge of my seat, grinning and crying. I could not put it down I was so drawn to these characters and their journey.

The chemistry between Ethan and Nic is undeniable, romantic and just damn hot.

Ethan’s family are just incredible, every character a completely enthralling individual that you want to get to know.

I cannot recommend enough and I am jumping into book 2 as soon as humanly possible!

The Wrong Kind of Love is definitely a story that will be discussed by many a reader in the days/months/years to come. Deception and betrayal are a huge part of this story and I for one am not as forgiving as our heroine, and therefore struggled with her compassionate nature towards her despicable sister. That said, I did like the book and will probably read the next instalment in this new series by Lexi Ryan (a new author to me).

I voluntarily read and reviewed an copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley.

It's quite previsible "nanny and her employer". But I liked the writing and could not put it down! Shame on me!
The heroine is weak, dormat, she recognised it herself! She was this silly girl who wanted to pleasure everyone, she dropped her college for bf, left her work for her fiance.
Her cheater fiance who impregnated her twin sister.
She worked for some widower (previsible, huh?!)
He was grumpy and didn't want her ... Yes, he thought he was culpable in his wife's death.
The story has good potential. I wish the heroine had got more balls!

I received this eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Nicole's life has just hit the fan. She finds out that her fiance left with her twin sister right before she was making her vows at her wedding... so of course the natural response was to run and take her sister's flight to Michigan and run away from the disaster that has become her life.

When Nicole finds out that Veronica was supposed to start a job to nanny a six-year-old, she decides to meet with the family and tell them about the mess up and that she is there instead of Veronica. What she didn't expect was to be asked to take Veronica's place and her name for a few months. Nicole doesn't want to but feels guilty leaving them in the lurch so she reluctantly agrees.

In the last unexpected thing Nicole thought would happen would be to fall for the six-year-olds father. She is trying to resist temptation, but it's really hard with Dr. McBrooding who is starting to thaw around her.

Everybody has dark secrets in their closets but it seems that Nicole's and Ethan's are about to reveal themselves before they are ready for the consequences.

This was a gteat novel. I really loved the connection between Nicole and Ethan oh, and I also loved how Nicole and Lilly connected so well with each other. I can't imagine what Nicole went through and how she could even talk to her sister after what she did to her. I'm a girl that holds a grudge so that would have been at least a five-year cold-shoulder lol.

I also feel for Ethan and what he went through with his previous wife. It seems there are a lot of common themes that happened to Ethan if you really stop and think about it after reading this book. I do have to say that I love the Jackson family and I may just have to read the rest of the series to see how each one of them fall for the love of their lives. It sure is a rambunctious bunch and I can only imagine the stories and adventures they go through. I also hope that Lilly is a main princess in each novel haha.

So glad I got the chance to read this book and I will be looking for more by this author in the future!

Loved. The characters were good and the story line kept me interested the whole time. Will be reading the other books in this series.

Decent writing but I just didn't enjoy the voice of the main character and there were too many unbelievable mishaps and lying throughout. The book has an HEA but you have to wade through too much misery to get there.

The Wrong Kind of Love is the right kind of story. Lame pun but the story makes up for it. Jackson Harbor makes up for it. And if for some reason that wasn't enough, I have 5 Jackson men that will entertain, flirt, and seduce you. Not to mention a family that steals your heart!

The Wrong Kind of Love reels you in with an unforgettable blurb. I mean seriously, her sister pukes on her bouquet and mentions the baby daddy is the groom. That is some world class assholery right there from her very own twin. Unforgettable. Mind bogglingly unforgettable. Also the perfect reason to run away...to Jackson Harbor.

I can't wait to watch these testosterone laden hotties crumble one by one. Jackson Harbor is the perfect setting. The Jacksons are the perfect characters. I just need the rest of their stories.

I absolutely love a romance book filled with angst, passion and drama and this one does not disappoint. I LOVED IT!!! Ethan and Nicole are characters that are unforgettable and their story is one that is well written. There are definitely heartfelt moments in this read. The back and forth banter between the brothers were amusing and I enjoyed a few laughs along the way. Lilly was so sweet and adorable that you couldn't help but love her. This story was a sweet romance read with just the right amount of steamy scenes and passion. I cant wait to read the next book in this series.

Synopsis
On the day of her wedding, Nic finds out that her fiancé cheated on her with her twin sister... and got her pregnant. She runs off and finds herself in a small town in Michigan where she plans to hide and lick her wounds. Then she meets Ethan.
Ethan has a past he can't forgive himself for, and keeps everyone at arms length. But his feelings for Nic won't go away. And now they're stuck together for the next 3 months.

Overview
This was a wonderful slow burn romance. Seriously guys. Around 65% through, I felt metaphorically blue balled by all the sexual tension. In the best way possible.

This is told from alternating perspectives - Nic and Ethan.

Content warnings: Depression, suicide, cheating, cancer, drug abuse, and child neglect.

What I Liked
1. The chemistry between the main characters was palpable. Their connection felt so believable and I was completely absorbed into their worlds.
2. This spent some time discussing mental illness and I felt like it was handled with such respect. There was a big focus on mental illness being a disease and how it's affect on family and those around them. It talks about the guilt of losing a loved one to mental illness. It was heartbreaking but expertly handled. I really appreciated seeing this side of mental illness in a book.
3. I'm in love with the Jackson family. I'm so excited that each of the siblings are getting a book, and I can't wait to get my hands on each of them.

What I Didn't Like
1. I mention this a lot in romance reviews, but I HATE when conflict is created due to lack of communication. It drives me bonkers. This one wasn't terrible, but towards the end, Ethan learns something about Nic and pushes her away without ever hearing her out. Just once I want the characters to talk it out..

Overall I was completely engrossed by this novel. It was hard-hitting yet sexy. I've been in a major reading slump but still devoured this in 2 sittings. I just couldn't put it down. If you're looking for a new romance series, definitely check this one out!

Nicole should be on top of the world. She is about to marry the man of her dreams, but when she finds out that her sister is having her soon to be husband's baby this turns into more like a nightmare. Running away leads Nic down a path of more lies and deception when she impersonates her sister to keep a job. A job that leads her to finally finding the family and love she deserves. But when Ethan finds out who she really is will the romance end or can he understand why the lies were in place? With beautifully written characters that the reader falls in love with very quickly and a storyline that had me laughing as well as sighing this was a great read. I look forward to reading more in this series.

When I read this book's description on Netgalley, I hit that request button so fast that I couldn’t get any sleep until I’d read Nicole’s story.

See, I like my romance served up sweet, hot, steamy, kinky, sizzling…anything but a touch of hot and cold and that’s what happened here. Ethan, aka Dr. Jackson, was as inconsiderate as he was trying to be sweet and that right there hit a sore spot.

For how do you go from wanting someone to wanting them gone in a breath? There were so many instances in the story where I felt that Nicole had been belittled all her life and wanted her to get up from being a doormat and just fly.

The up-side is that this book’s got dual points of view, so you get to hear from both Ethan and Nicole and that salvages the human aspect of it. It’s also got great characters who make up Jackson’s family right down to his adorable daughter-Lily.

I’m a sucker for romance and love and will say that it’s quite a read.

I really liked the description of this book and was excited to read this book. I have also heard a lot of good things about Lexi Ryan but had yet to read a book by her. The thing I liked was the dual POV. Sadly that was about the only thing I liked. I really hate when the main female character is a doormat and that’s exactly what Nicole was. I also thought Ethan was kind of a dick. Some of the things he said really made me mad. I had a hard time rooting for him. I’m also sick of single dads in contemporary romance novels not having an issue finding a woman to sleep with, but single moms are basically celibate. Sorry for the rant, I was just pretty disappointed.
