Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This is the third book in the series and unfortunately I haven't read the previous 2. This book however reads nicely as a standalone, and I will go back now to quickly catch up. Recommended for anyone who loves a good read!

This is the third book by Greg Keen. It is a standalone so if you have not read the previous two books it will still be enjoyable. Soho Angel is a great story with well-crafted characters. If you enjoy a good mystery then this is the book for you. Soho Angel was provided for free in exchange for my honest opinion. Highly recommend it.

This is the first book that I have read in this series. I really enjoyed it. It is totally different from anything I have read before. I really liked the writing style and the characters. The plot was refreshingly different. I hope there are more in this series. I want to read the first two books as well.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

A bizarre story line, well written. First encounter with Greg Keens Soho Series and his intriguing character Kenny Gabriel and his seemingly sad life. As this is number three of the series I look forward to reading numbers 1 & 2

As i was to find out, this is the third book in a series by Greg Keen. I have not read the previous two books, but that didn't spoil a good story. It worked well as a standalone. A well written book and one that kept me turning the pages. I used to live in London within easy reach of Soho. Having enjoyed this book, i am now eager to read the first two.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review, freely given.

This is the third in the series about private investigator Kenny Gabriel (the first two 'Soho Dead' and 'Soho Ghosts' set the scene for his work and life).
He's nearing 60, in very poor health, scruffy and scrabbling around for work with his obese, claustrophobic partner Odeerie (there's some great names in the book!) and deal with skip tracing jobs i.e. undertaking cases for missing persons or lost people for whatever reasons.
When Pam Ridley comes to see Kenny, he discovers she is the mother of Emily Ridley, a promising young model who had famously disappeared along with her celebrity rock star boyfriend Castor Greaves some 22 years ago. Despite exhaustive searches the police have given up but Mrs Ridley wants to still search for her daughter and with a mysterious Shami guiding her decisions and a pile of cash from an inheritance, Kenny and his partner agree to take on the case.
There are some great scenes about life in Soho, now and in the more sleazy past and the world of rock stars and music that involved Emily and Castor when he was lead singer of MEAN. Kenny will have to meet and interview other members of the band (all again with great names like Chop and JJ) and gets more information from an ageing music journalist Saskia Reeves- Montgomery who's a wonderful character living on a house boat.
Soho clubs of the present also link to Kenny's personal life as his ex girlfriend Stephie is now romantically involved with Jake Villiers, a high flying and smarmy property developer who rubs Kenny up the wrong way on their first meeting.
The plot is great with loads of twists and turns. Some nice turns of phrase often in a dark comedic vein and the author has a good knowledge of the streets of Soho that exude atmospheric details that add to the increasingly gruesome plot. There is some nasty violence and threats - particularly to Kenny as he gets closer to the killer but it left me guessing right to the end and I enjoyed being part of Kenny's world. His personal life - which as with so many private detectives involves too much drinking and smoking takes a surprising turn in the book and I felt very sorry for him and urging him onto success. A new discovery in the crime genre that I enjoyed immensely.
There may be more of Kenny - but in what direction the author will have to decide.......

Soho Angel is the third book in a series. I have not read the first two books in the series, but that didn't hinder my understanding of this book. It's a solid mystery about a twenty year old missing persons case of a rockstar and his girlfriend. The main character is a sympathetic guy with a lot of his own problems. He's flawed but likeable in his own way. The story is engaging and well written. I enjoyed it overall, and I will go back now and read the first two books in the series. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for the eARC.
Even though not having read the previous books, I found Soho Angel a delightful read and easy as a standalone.
PI Kenny Gabriel is tasked with looking for Castor Greaves, popular rock star, and his model girlfriend, by the girlfriend's mother who is desperate to find out what happened to her daughter. Since the disappearance was 20 years ago and both the police and the media have been all over mystery all this time, it's an almost impossible case. But the money is excellent and Kenny's boss, the agoraphobic foodaholic, also wants the attention and possible new clients this case will attract. Poor Kenny is having a tough time of it - he has a brain tumor and is also trying to get back into the good graces of his ex-girlfriend.
With the aggravating and scary side effects due to the tumor, plus the attempts on his life, life before his impending operation is like walking on a tightrope.
I really liked Kenny, rooting for him all the way through the book. Here's hoping there will be a follow up, I'm dying to know how Kenny's life will pan out; does he quit being a PI and will be get the girl? More please!
