Amelia Corbyn is heading home as her mother is sick and that means heading to Last Stand Texas and facing up to her first love Cal Delaney.

Cal Delaney is having a hard time supporting his three brothers and his little sister who has a toddler.

When his sister is killed in a motor accident Cal is flailing trying to support his brothers and his nephew and he is thankful for the support of his former girlfriend to get him through.

But is there too much water under the bridge for them to find what they lost

This was a lovely book with a myriad of engaging characters the story was well plotted and didn't seem to rush through the story arch, thoroughly recommended.

Small town girl returns home from her time in the big city and reconnects with her high school boyfriend. This book screams Hallmark movie vibes. Amelia returns home indefinitely when her mother becomes very sick. During this time, she reacquaints with her high school boyfriend, who consequently, she slept with and then left the next day when she chose to flee Last Stand Texas in favor of a modeling career in New York City.

The premise of "Her Texas Ex" by Katherine Garbera screams, "This is right down my alley," but unfortunately, I couldn't connect with it how I wanted to. I feel like the relationship between Cal, her former high school boyfriend turner pro athlete turned successful businessman, was never developed the way I wanted it to. To me "I Love You's" were expressed like it was an episode of the Bachelor...entirely too soon, entirely unrealistic. Yes, I get they knew each other before, but even then, they had only dated for a couple weeks.

I believe if character development would have been focused on more this would have been a book I enjoyed, instead it just felt mediocre.

This book was a little different for me. Amelia was someone that I had a hard time identifying with. At sixteen she discovers a family secret that leaves her confused and devastated. She goes to New Year to become a model. Before she leaves, she sleeps with Cal her high school boyfriend. Cal is now confused and hurt. Why did Amelia ghost him after having sex? She comes back to town because her mother is ill and the doctors don't have a diagnose.

Cal and Amelia have to work through so many issues. Compounded with their relationship, trust and abandonment issues, Cal's younger sister Julie dies in an accident leaving her young son in the care of the Delaney brothers. Even though this book was written in my favorite dual POV format, I didn't connect with Amelia. I did understand that she had trust issues and I could identify her struggle with them but I really thought she was childish and very selfish. I really wanted to slap her silly and then explain the concept of unconditional love. Cal on the other hand was a wonderful male protagonist that I could identify with. I really felt for this man and all that he struggled with.

I normally love this author's work but I felt that Amelia fell a little flat for me. I am glad to have read this story though. There were several sexual scenes that I feel would be inappropriate for anyone under 18.

Amelia Corbyn has come home to her small Texas home because her mother is sick. Having left as a teen when she found out that her father was not her father but a country musician. Before she left she spent one night with her then boyfriend and when he went to her home the next day she was gone. Cal Delaney has been back home for some time now since his pro football career ended suddenly when taken a hit. He and his brothers now have a bar and a tequila business called outlaw. When he sees Amelia he is not ready for the meet having argued with his younger sister. Then later his sister is killed in a traffic accident and the one person he is not expecting to be there for him and now for the nephew, he feels responsible for is Amelia. The question is when will she leave again? Will she tell him why she left in the first place? Will he give his heart to her again? She already has it she does know it yet. A good story with good characters, her sisters, his brothers. Many different issues being tackled here. Worth the read.

Her Texas Ex would have to be my favourite Katherine Garbera book yet. This book, set in the Texas hill country town of Last Stand, is a second chance at love story. Packed with emotion, the story is centred around Amelia Corbyn, who’s felt like the outsider in her family after discovering at the age of sixteen that she was the result of a one-night-stand between her mother and a singer before her parents married.
Love interest Cal Delaney was Amelia’s first boyfriend and the man she slept with the night before leaving Last Stand to start a modelling career. Cal has his share of tragedy in his life and the death of his sister Rose is the latest. This acts as the impetus for Cal and Amelia coming together again, but the path to true love is not even remotely smooth for these two.
I thought the subjects of loss and grief were really well handled in this story but there were other topics raised as Amelia dealt with feelings of trust and betrayal while Cal worked through his rage at his sister’s untimely death. Family features strongly in this book too, which I liked.
This is very much a love story and at times quite a sexy one, but it’s got a depth to it that resonated. As I read I found myself wondering how I would handle the different issues that Amelia and Cal had to face. The result was a story in which I was thoroughly immersed. Great read!

For some reason, I had a hard time connecting with these characters. The writing is excellent and second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes,

The premise of this book sounded great! And it started off okay... I just couldn’t get into it.
The writing was fine. No grammar errors or anything like that... I’m gonna just say it wasn’t the story for me.
Amelia and Cal didn’t hook me.
Might be the book for you though.

Amelia left her hometown and high school boyfriend in the dust when she found out her father is not her biological father. Her mother lied to her for years. She left hurt and confused. Now years later after retiring from modeling she is back home to take care of her aging parents. Then tragedy brings Cal home to help raise his sister's child. He is the last person she ever expected to run into. Yet the sparks are still there. It feels like time has stood still, except the boy she loved is now a man. Cal still loves Amelia but he knows from experience that when things get tough she runs. He does not need that in his life. This is an emotional story about forgiveness, learning from past mistakes and second chances. Good read.

I usually love stories by Katherine Garbera but every once in a while there is one that is not for me. Because of that I always start a new book by her with a bit of “Will I or won’t I?” attitude. I needn’t have worried at all with her latest book, Her Texas Ex. It happens in Last Stand, Texas with character I found extremely engaging. Like the Whiskey River books and the Scott brothers’ books, I loved this one.

This coming home, second chance story has an element of suspense in it that I really liked too. Amelia Corbyn has come home to help with older parents while Cal Delaney has come home started a business and will help raise his nephew. Their attraction is strong with their relationship build as the past is explained. Surprises that were unexpected along with growth of the characters, make this an excellent read. One of the best parts is that there are siblings and friends that need to have their stories told too. Looking forward to more from Last Stand, Texas.

A second chance romance that will pull at your your heart strings. Lots of family drama! Amelia and Cal were high school sweethearts, both left Last Stand Texas for different reasons and now have returned for their families. They both can't deny the chemistry is still there, but there are secrets and responsibilities with their families that they have to work through.

Thoroughly enjoyed these likeable characters and their families. Fair warning: have a few tissues close by. I'm loving this new town of Last Stand. Can't wait to read more of the Delaney brothers, Highly recommend

Awesome book! They were in love with each other but trying hard not to admit it. They each had baggage, (a curse, Rose’s death, the fear of letting anyone to close so as not to get hurt, and being of a different dad). Add all of this up and not admitting they really had a good relationship seemed easier than giving in. So MeeMaw and Clara had to prove it to them!

A broken heart, some shattered truths and a second chance are at the heart of Katherine Garbera's, Her Texas Ex. Young love was not enough to endure a heartbreaking truth. Can unforeseen tragedy help heal two long broken hearts? Amelia was forced to find her voice far from home. Long withheld secrets gave her the courage to start anew. Now life has called her home to the heartache she left behind and the man she never forgot. Cal is about to get a crash course in parenting after a family tragedy leaves him guardian to his young niece. When the heartbreak of his past collides with the tragedy of his present, will his heart survive the drama? Garbera makes emotion her goal with a sentimental heartbreaker.

Her Texas Ex is my first read by this author and I have to say I am glad I did. A well delivered second chance romance with relatable characters and an engaging emotional storyline. I look forward to reading more of this series and by this author.

Cal and Amelia’s second chance love story in Her Texas Ex by Katherine Gabera, book one in Dangerous Delaneys series, was a wonderful, sexy, very emotional and enjoyable tale. Amelia Corbyn was devastated when she learned she wasn’t biologically a Corbyn. Making it worse, her biological father was actually a legendary country singer, wanting nothing to do with her. Hurt and confused, Amelia fled Last Stand Texas for a modeling career in New York. She left behind her high school boyfriend and family not able to live with all the secrets and lies. Giving up home, family, and love is not always the wisest decision. Amelia returned to Last Stand after retiring from modeling and determined to help take care of her ill mother. Then she accidently runs into the one man she loved and never forgot; no matter how hard she tried. Cal Delaney left pro-football after a career ending injury and returned to Last Stand to help with the family operated Outlaw Tequila. Then an accident occurs, killing Cal’s sister and her fiancée, leaving their toddler in his care. As Amelia and Cal spend time together they discover that the attraction, chemistry, and sparks are still there just waiting to engulf them in a flame of love. It will take trust and forgiveness before Cal and Amelia can have a future with their first love.

Ms. Gabera wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Cal and Amelia a chance to discover they were meant to be together and share the future. Keep tissues nearby as you read this amazing story. I highly recommend Her Texas Ex to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

If you love Tule’s Montana Born – Marietta, Montana, that unique small town that’s taken on a life of its own then you’re going to love Tule’s Texas Born – Last Stand, Texas as we begin several of the first group of stories set in this Texas town that all have one thing in common – a tragedy that connects so many lives. I am, frankly, thrilled to be in at the beginning of the birth of a town and a set of series that lightly connect. Plus, Whiskey River is right over there around the bend, so we’ll be seeing some familiar faces at times as well.

HER TEXAS EX is the type of story that is going to rip your heart to shreds and, eventually, heal it back whole once again. Amelia and Cal were once in love during their teen years. The discovery of a lifelong lie sent Amelia off to New York to pursue a modeling career and put her far from the heartache caused by her family. She ran. And in running she left Cal behind.

Now, years later, Amelia is back in Last Stand to tend to her ailing mother, and Cal is raising his nephew after the little one’s parents were killed in a car accident. Neither expected to run into each other. And neither expected the feelings they once had for each other to rise to the surface as if no time had passed at all. Yet, life is different now for them both and if they have even the slightest hope of a second chance to get their love right it’s going to take some facing the past and some forgiveness. It’s said that love never dies, but it certainly can be wounded. Cal and Amelia have some healing to do before they can find their happy ever after ending.

I loved HER TEXAS EX, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I shed real tears on many occasions during this story. I liked that both Cal and Amelia were straight talkers, they didn’t sidestep the past. You cannot hope to build something in the future when past actions are looming over your head, so they talked, really talked and I was impressed by that. (because couples talking, really talking happens so infrequently in Romance) Not that they didn’t have their moments, but when it mattered they communicated.

I enjoyed my time spent in this new world, and I’m definitely looking forward to meeting more of the residents, families that make up Last Stand, Texas.

Amelia and Cal captured my heart, their story is realistic and believable and full of interesting secondary characters that I hope we get to know more about as time goes on plus a familiar face every now and then. If you love a good second chance romance with people who aren’t afraid to speak their minds then you’re going to love HER TEXAS EX.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Her Texas Ex by Katherine Garbera
(The Dangerous Delaneys Book 1)
She couldn't forget him, even if she tried...
When Amelia Corbyn was a vulnerable teen, she found out she wasn’t a Corbyn by blood. Her biological father was a legendary country singer who wanted nothing to do with her. Hurt and confused, Amelia fled Last Stand Texas for a modeling career in New York. She left behind her high school boyfriend and family who had kept too many secrets. Years later Amelia’s back in Last Stand, retired from modeling and determined to care for her aging parents. She’s not expecting to see the one man she loved and couldn’t forget. Even worse, the spark is still there just waiting to burst into a flame.
Former pro-football player Cal Delaney returns to Last Stand to raise his sister’s toddler after a car accident claims her life along with her husband. His feelings for Amelia seem stronger than ever, but he has secrets and responsibilities; and Amelia has already proved to him that when things get tough, she skips town.
Can Cal forgive their past so that he and his first love can have a future?
This is Amelia Corbyn and Cal Delaney's story.
Sometimes, Amelia Corbyn thought that Last Stand, Texas, was the town that time forgot. Well, except for the busloads of tourists who shopped on Main Street every day, but the rest of the world seemed to have forgotten it, or maybe it was simply that Last Stand had turned its back on the world.
When she’d been in New York, it had been easy to reminisce about her hometown and think of it fondly. The sleepy little town in Hill Country was steeped in history and tradition. But now that she was back, she didn’t find the history quite so charming and her own family traditions were bringing to the surface emotions she’d spent years suppressing. It wasn’t as if any reasonable person on the planet would have an issue with meeting her sisters at Kolaches, the town bakery, and having the spring special brew that featured orange mocha lattes.
She knew it was unreasonable to sit in her car on one of the hilly streets just off Main, watching the entrance. But she’d been avoiding her mom and she wouldn’t put it past her youngest sister Delilah to “surprise” her by bringing their mother. She loved her sisters, but like any close sibling group, there were times when they got on each other’s nerves.
The Delaney ranch wasn’t exactly close to downtown Last Stand, which was exactly the way his bank-robbing ancestors had wanted it. They’d rob trains, banks and anything else they could get their hands on during the late 1800s, using their ranch as a hideout, and there were days when Cal thought they’d had the right idea by not getting involved in town. But he didn’t live in the nineteenth century and making his living as an outlaw had never appealed to him.
He’d been labeled an outlaw on the playing field back in his pro-football days because he’d been the kind of quarterback who didn’t just stay in the box. But a career-ending sack five years ago had put an end to his playing days. The only other thing he’d had going on were some agave vats he’d invested in and the old jailhouse he’d purchased when he’d been feeling nostalgic. Over the years he’d turned that into a successful tequila brand using the old wanted posters of his ancestors as the branding for the liquor. Through his ancestry he was Irish and Mexican, and he had property in Mexico where he grew and harvested the agave that they used for the tequila.
He’d invited his brothers to join him in the business and Braden his youngest brother had taken him up on the offer. Braden was scary smart when it came to numbers and business, so Cal left the day-to-day running to him. Finn had flat turned him down, preferring to continue his career in the truck league in NASCAR, working his way up over the last few years. He was now a Cup driver, which Outlaw Tequila was a happy sponsor of.
I highly recommend reading.

I have loved the series that revolves around Last Stand, Texas. The stories have all been really great and each one touches on everyone in the small town.
In Her Texas Ex, a second chance at love brings together Amelia and Cal. She left him with no explanation when she was sixteen. Neither of them has forgotten each other nor the one night they spent together before she fled. Amelia and Cal are thrown together by a horrible accident and they find that the spark is still there waiting to ignite.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Amelia had been in N Y it was easy to think of her hometown fondly. But now she was back it wasn’t so charming and her own family traditions were bringing up emotions she had spent years suppressing. Amelia was meeting her sisters at the bakery but she wouldn’t be surprised if ehr younger sister brought their mother as a surprise and Amelia was trying to avoid her mother-Lily. Her middle sister was emma who was always punctual and the shiest of the three sisters and she preferred reading to socializing. Delilah - her other sister- had come back home and open the Dragonfly restaurant. Amelia had dropped out of H S to pursue modeling. She wondered how different her life would have been if she hadn’t left. She had thought about that alot about that over the last twelve years. Amelia’s mom was sick and her memory was fading. Cal had played pro football Until he got hurt five years ago. He now had a successful tequila he made called Outlaw Tequila. He had asked his brothers to join him in business and only his younger brother Braden who was crazy scary when it came to numbers and business and left the day to day running to him. He didn’t usually worry about the curse where no Delaney woman had survived past her thirties including cal’s mom. He thought the curse was about to be broken Cal’s baby and only sister Rose was about to be nineteen. She had a baby before she graduated HS. cal’s nephew was two and a half no-Lane-. Cal didn’t care for Lane’s father and Rose’s boyfriend-TJ. Cal’s father had been a heavy drinker and he got sick and he died cal’s senior year of college before Cal graduated. It was up to him to take care of his brothers and sister. Her sisters left for work and Amelia decided to stay behind and have a second latte. Than Cal walked in. She had known Cal in HS and he had taken her virginity. Amelia continued to stare at Cal and he came over. He said her name and then she said she didn’t know if he remembered her and cal said how could he forget the first girl he’d slept with. They had dated three magical weeks before Amelia’s world crashed and she’d learned she wasn’t really a Corbyn daughter. Amelia left the day after she slept with Cal and never even said goodbye. She explained she had an offer from Elite to model. Cal said his younger sister Rose was a huge fan of hers. She asked about Rose and remembered Rose was the sweetest thing but totally a tomboy. Amelia had never forgotten Cal or sleeping with him. She had wanted her first to be with someone she cared about. Amelia said her parents had asked her to come back for awhile and she said she had opened an agency here to scout for talent and to teach kids what they need to know if they want to model. The texas Women’s League asked her to do some classes on manners and Amelia had agreed. Because of the secret her mother had kept from her for so long she’d never be able to enjoy coming back. Than her dad asked her to come back as it might be the last chance for her and her mother. Emma said she thought their mother wanted to get things in order. Amelia heart broke when she heard that. Her feelings for her mother were complicated but she did love her. It had been ten years since Amelia had last seen Cal and it was in NY and he had been with his girlfriend- other than at the bakery. Amelia seen Cal at Minna’s birthday party. Cal had thought everything was right in his world but than Amelia came walking into the party looking more beautiful than a woman had a right to. She struck him dumb just like she had in HS. Cal hated Amelia still had so much power over him. He’d never forget her. It had been a long time since he held her but he remembered how perfectly in his arms. Amelia told him she was sorry she didn’t anything before she left. He said it bothered him as he had showed up her house the next morning and Jasper - her father- said she was gone. When cal’s father died he became responsible for his brothers and sister. Cal thought he might find closure walking away from Amelia but he found he wanted something more from Amelia he had no idea what. Amelia thought she had made peace with her past until she seen her mom and it all came rushing. At sixteen she learned she wasn’t biologically a Corbyn girl and it had rocked her world and she had never figured out how to make it right again. Amelia’s biological father was a country western singer -Jax Williams and sh had learned she ran to her grandma’s-Priscilla. Than Cal’s sister and her boyfriend died in a car accident Amelia made a casserole and took it out to the Delaney ranch, Brayden and Cal invited her to eat with them. Than when Brayden went to do some work they went out on the porch swing and they had sex. Cal found out he wanted more than one night with Amelia but he knew she wasn’t someone who would stay. Than Amelia stood to get a dressed and said she guessed should get going. Things seem to change. It had been perfect just minutes earlier but now…. This was the Amelia touch. Her last boyfriend said she seemed to find a way to sabotage every meaningful connection she ever had. All her romantic and personal ones. She was beginning to believe he was right. She wanted to stay the night with Cal and help him through his grief instead she did the thing she did.
I loved this story. I loved Cal and amelia together and how they interacted . I loved the relationship Amelia had with her sisters. I loved seeing Amelia grow and let go of her fear in order to have her HEA. I actually had tears at times while reading this. My heart broke for Cal and his brothers and poor little Lane when Rose and TJ died. I felt like I was there with Amelia and Cal. i didn’t want to put this down. It kept my attention from the beginning to end. I loved the plot and pace. This is a new favorite of mine. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

Amelia Corbyn left Last Stand Texas to pursue her model career when she found out she was not Corbyn. After so 15 years, Amelia was reluctant to come back, but she had to come back when she found out her mother was not doing so well. Now she is back in Last Stand and has to face all her troubles with her mom and someone she left.
Cal Delaney was pro football player until his injury took away his career. Now he is back and taking care of his younger sister and nephew. He never thought he would face Amelia again after erupt departure from her. He never knew she was moving away and he never had a closure to their relationship.
Now they are back in town, they might have to talk but Amelia wasn't ready to face any of her issues. They were slowly talking when Cal's sister is in tragic accident and it brings both closer together.
Amelia and Cal needs to find the time to hash out their issues but timing is not on their side. Are they ready to move from the past and going forward?

It was good read. Amelia and Cal was likable characters. It was quick and story moved quickly.
