Okay...okay... okay...

This duology is absolute genius gold!

I loooovvveeeeeeee Wynter Roth who is deep down such a strong bad A$$ young woman; who not only had dealt with oppression through her religion, but learns to live on the outside of her cult in a big adventurous way.

She also deals with some mental issues ( who wouldnt ) caused by her time in the cult.

I cannot give you much about what happens in this book because I do not want to ruin the first in the duology.

Here is the deal, If you have ever read a book in one day because it flows so well and you have the " just one more chapter" and I'll adult" thought.... but forgo adulting because you must know what happens next? This is your next read. 😘👍

So happy I preordered this book prior to release date of 9.17.19!!

I recieved this ARC via netgalley for an honest review. Which I wholeheartedly give freely!

Intense. Tosca starts out by letting us in on the happenings inside the bunker. When Noah’s daily messages stop coming the people are left wondering what is going on outside the silo and what will the world be like when the door finally opens? Tosca captured my attention right away with the mystery and suspense. The added deadline of finding medicine for the injured character before they died magnified the urgency and kept the pages flipping.

The finding of the medicine occupied most of the book which surprised me a little. I thought there would be more focus on the terrorism aspect and the drama of creating the vaccine. Its hard to know which would have been more exciting. However I recognize that in order to do that we would not have been able to keep the seamless singular POV through Wynter so it makes more sense as is.

I loved the chase and the action and that Tosca wasn’t afraid to kill off her characters. It illicits more emotion and engagement with the story and the outcome.

I liked seeing Wynter escaping the isolation of the Enclave just to enter into the isolation of the silo and how we got to see her character grow through her different captivities.

One thing I wished would have been handled differently was the answer to the security footage tape showing Noah and the others leaving the farm. We got the answer later but it was obscure and didn’t fit the tone of the tape. It was basically a side note instead of the ominous and important role it first appeared to have.

Also, a tiny annoyance was how a lot of the sentences started without a subject, i.e. statements starting with ‘can’ and ‘am’ etc. just felt disjointed reading those in my head, I almost always caught myself rereading them to see if I missed something.

All that to say, another great Tosca Lee book and was a satisfying sequel to The Line Between!

Bonus shoutout for Kearney and Runza and Des Moines!

Intriguing continuation of the story from Line Between. Its a roller coaster ride with all the twists & turns, cork screws & loops of an actual coaster ride!

Grabs you & holds you until the last moment of the book. Hard to put down without rushing right back again. I love the way Tosca writes in what is going on in our world yet eleborates on it making the story more interesting and thought provoking.

Wynter and Chase are in Noah's Ark, an underground shelter/community closed for 6 months when they are set to re-enter the world. Communications with Noah have ceased so the community has no idea what is happening out in the world. Hopefully the ability to make an antibiotic for the disease ravishing the United States has had time to be distributed by the time they come out from the Ark. Unfortunately what they find when they leave the Ark is not what they expected. No antibiotics and chaos reigning. Chase and Wynter must risk their lives to save the people they love the most while time seems to be running out.

Such a wild ride! It is hard to imagine our world with no electricity, no law, no food and everyone living for themselves. Each step of Wynter and Chase's journey is intense and filled with danger. It keeps the reader turning the pages quickly to find out the outcome of characters that you've been routing for throughout the story. Wynter frustrated me a few times when she acted recklessly, but it fit with the story of desperation and what a person will do to survive or keep the ones they love alive. A fantastic, fast-paced read that I highly recommend if you love a good thriller/dystopian type story.

In this sequel to Lee's The Line Between, we find Wynter and those she cares about - her niece Truly, surrogate mom Julie and her daughter Lauren, and ex-soldier Chase - securely locked away in an underground silo. Only Wynter and those closest to her know that specialists are working on a vaccine for the dementia-like disease that was ravaging the country. And almost no one knows that Dr. Ashley Neal, a professor at Colorado State (and Truly's real father) had managed to create two doses of the vaccine - one for Wynter and one for Truly - before being whisked away to a research lab to continue working. Before the handful of strangers entered the silo, the electrical grid had gone down, cell phones had stopped working and violence was becoming the norm in most cities. They are counting down the days until what has become known as "Open Day" - the day that the locked silo door will open and they will reemerge to a world that, hopefully, is finally free of the disease. But when the lock disengages two days early, Chase and Wynter emerge to discover that the country is in total chaos and there is no vaccine. Worse yet, a slip and fall in the silo kitchen left Julie badly hurt and battling an infection. Without the right IV antibiotics, she won't make it. The problem is most medical facilities have already been ransacked and all the medical supplies have been stolen. Can Chase and Wynter find the meds Julie needs in time? And what happened to Dr. Neal? Why aren't the vaccines ready? They are racing against time to find the meds Julie needs and the answers they seek.

With chapter headings that indicate either how many days the crew has been in the silo or the time on the clock as Wynter and Chase race to save Julie's life, this one will captivate the reader almost from the first word. The crew living in the silo is functioning like a well-ordered community. Until the daily video feeds from Noah, the founder of their little community, stop coming. With no communication from the outside, no updates on the state of the country, and no way of knowing if anyone is even still left alive on the surface, it doesn't take long for panic and fear to infiltrate the silo. Panic and fear lead to wild accusations and violence and life in the silo, already a challenge for them all, becomes a serious struggle. When Wynter finds out that Chase wasn't exactly who she thought, she sees the future she had dreamed of slipping away forever. And then Julie gets hurt. and her wound gets infected. As frightened as they all are when the door to the silo unlocks two days early, Wynter knows the "early release" may be the only hope she has of saving Julie's life.

This one had me on the edge of my seat from the start. The chapter headings - the number of days they had been in the silo or the hour on the clock once they are out - add to a sense of urgency in everything that Wynter and Chase are doing. The country is in chaos, the pandemic has spread to South America and parts of Europe and there is no sign of the vaccine that Wynter knows Dr. Neal is capable of making. Can she get the IV antibiotics back to the silo in time? Will she and Chase survive to get back at all? Fans of The Line Between will find much to love in this highly anticipated sequel (even if it does take a minute for your heart rate to return to normal once you're done!)

If you thought that The Line Between was intense and riveting, you'll be just as enthusiastically engrossed by its sequel!!! This is just as action packed and the surprises and hits just keep happening!! Toca Lee has another hit upon her hands!! Wynter is so much stronger, she's more determined and maybe even more reckless! Chase is right by her side as they have to once again navigate a dangerous world that is forever changed! As the clock upon humanity ticks away they race to find their future. I loved how this concluded!! I had tears in my eyes and felt so hopeful for this new world. I really don't want to say goodbye to these characters!! I'm just not ready...

The sequel to The Line Between, A Single Light, pushes and tugs your emotions from start to finish. Once again, Tosca Lee crafts a thriller to challenge us to think how we would react, really react, if the world as we knew it changed and morphed into something out of our biggest fears. Could we make the right choice? Is that right choice the right choice for me or must we choose the right choice for a bigger, collective “us” before being being able to choose what satisfies our hopes and our desires? Do we look after just ourselves and the ones closest to us or risk it all for the sake of the greater good. Join Wynter and Chase and see what happens when they emerge into the new America!

Riveting. Thrilling. Edge-of-your-seat. Action-packed. A Single Light legitimately has everything you could ever hope for in a novel. I had the privilege of being an advanced reader for both The Line Between and A Single Light, and I have yet to be disappointed. I could not put A Single Light down...thank heavens I was stuck in a vehicle on a road trip! It had twists and turns I hadn’t anticipated, features that sometimes made me audibly gasp or shriek (but not always in glee). To be honest, as soon as I finished it, I texted and messaged several friends to tell them to read A Single Light when it’s available in September. That’s saying something because I don’t often recommend books. I am constantly reading novels in my free time; sometimes, I struggle through poorly-written stories with underdeveloped plots and never pick up the books again. A Single Light, though, I know is one I’ll read multiple times and catch new details upon each read-through. I have high standards for novels, and Tosca surpassed them. A hundred fold.

What I loved most about A Single Light--outside of the obvious action and thrill that left me clinging to my Kindle with white knuckles and gnawing on my fingernails--was that it was believable. The dystopian world Tosca created wasn’t farfetched or unrealistic. Instead of questioning the accuracy of the epidemic-suffering society of A Single Light, I found myself being curious about the possibility of its existence. It was easy for me to picture the trials the characters faced and relate to them. Wynter and Chase grew into better people, and they had a real relationship, complete with all its ups and downs. They weren’t superheroes of invincibility; rather, all of the characters in A Single Light had flaws and faults--all things with which we all struggle on a daily basis. Tosca pulled me into her imagination from the first page, and I loved every step of the adventure. Easily one of Tosca’s best works, and definitely one of my favorites.

Read The Line Between. Read A Single Light. I guarantee, you won’t regret it.

I had not read The Line Between but found that it was not completely necessary. I will definitely go back and read The Line Between though. This is not your ordinary mystery thriller but is a fast paced post apocalyptic thriller that kinda keeps you on the edge of your seat. I found it very interesting and I don’t think there are other books out there like this one! Tosca has gained another loyal reader! I look forward to reading more of her books

A Single Light by Tosca Lee is the sequel to The Line Between. It is about Wynter who has tried to save the world from a deadly apocalypse by turning over some medical samples to make a vaccine to stop a deadly virus from taking out life as we know it. In the meantime she her boyfriend and niece and 50 other strangers take refuge in an underground bunker for 183 days in hopes when they emerge a vaccine will be available.
I absolutely loved this book! I have been waiting impatiently for the release since I read The Line Between in February! Let me just say Tosca did not disappoint at all! I could not put it down! I was totally not expecting anything like how she took the story line and was immediately drawn right in! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I loved the new characters she added and found myself laughing and crying my way through the entire book! Seeing the good and bad in human nature and how it is brought out in the most unexpected ways! It is definitely a Must Read!

And now I can sleep. The stunning sequel to The Line Between kept the pages turning into the wee small hours. I couldn’t imagine after the first book, how many more twists and turns an author could dream up, but Tosca Lee has done it again. The characters were vivid, even the new ones, fresh heartbreak was hauntingly conveyed and the conclusion shocking and satisfying all at once.

Not a series I’ll ever forget.

o say this book is a superb follow-up to The Line Between is an understatement. The story of Wynter Roth continues in this fast-paced, taut thriller, where Wynter finds herself facing the world after six months locked away in an underground bunker. She and boyfriend, Chase Miller, must race against the clock to locate desperately needed medications in cities that have been ravaged by disease, and those that take advantage of the breakdown of society. Along the way, you will meet new characters, as well as revisit with characters from the first book.

The setup of the book works extremely well, leaving one desperate to read each chapter and find out what happens next. It’s an incredibly realistic and frighteningly possible type of scenario that will leave some readers wondering what they can do to better prepare themselves should something similar ever come to pass. Can we trust our food supply? How safe are we from foreign governments? Can we trust our own neighbors?

The two books in this series would make a great and suspenseful movie or TV series, but only with someone committed to staying true to the books. Each character and scenario is vitally important to the storyline. Tosca Lee was a new author to me prior to The Line Between, but she has secured her place as a favorite author for me and a master of suspense. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers and dystopian novels.

If you thought “The Line Between” was intense, hold on to your britches! Lee cranks up the intensity, and the body count, in this heart-pounding sequel. With no good place to put this fast-passed thriller down, “A Single Light” will keep you reading well into the night. This character driven novel picks up in the underground silo where secrets come out and tensions run high. When the door finally opens, nothing is as expected. The area has been decimated and at first it’s unclear if anyone else has survived. A desperate need for medicine sends Wynter and Chase into a dangerous new world where everything that could possibly go wrong, does. Once again, the key to saving the world is Wynter, if she can stay alive long enough to save it.

This book was a thrilling and very enjoyable ride.
I received a free ARC for my honest and unbiased review.
A Single Light picks up where "The Line Between" Left off. A virus as old as the hills with no vaccine has been unearthed and is ravaging America. A few over 60 people have been inside a bunker that has been time locked and sealed by a forward looking "pepper" of sorts, in order to preserve a few human remnants that are untainted by the virus. The bunker has everything needed to sustain life for the 6 months that it will be locked and sealed. This book takes you through life inside the highly sophisticated bunker and into a whole new world. Not wanting to give away any details that will spoil the fun for you, I can positively say that at no point was I bored with the story line or feeling as though it dragged its feet at any point. The story just flows like a raft through a calm river and heads into some very rough Rapids and yes there is a waterfall. I thoroughly enjoyed how the story line steadily picks up speed and sends you into a very rough and wild ride. Tosca made me feel like I was there with the characters and connected to every emotion. Like all of her other books I give this a very hefty 5 STARS. I Highly recommended this book and look forward to much much more from Tosca Lee. I was so honored to be given the chance to review such a great story.

Wow! What an explosive sequel to The Line Between. From the first page, I was sucked in and could not put this down. The action doesn't stop, and that is absolutely not a bad thing.

This picks up shortly after the events of the first book, showing what life is like living in the silo as the virus ravages the world above. Though the occupants know little of what goes on above, Noah keeps them informed with daily updates...until one day things go wrong. The daily video feed is cut short and never comes again. Two weeks of daily videos, and then they are left in silence. The not knowing would be enough to terrify even the bravest.

In this book, we meet new characters that shape Wynter's character even further. There is deep sadness, heart-stopping thrills, and joy. Wynter's journey has never been easy, but her drive to protect those close to her drives her to do whatever she has to to keep them safe.

A Single Light picks up where The Line Between left off. 63 people are living, surviving and cooperating together in an underground silo, a well planned and well constructed shelter. They are sealed in to be protected from a flu-borne pandemic, total chaos and mass destruction going on above ground.

Imagine being locked in underground. You are safe and your needs are being met. What would you miss the most? Sunshine, rain, animals or even freedom...?

As the days spent underground add up, tensions, anxieties and fear levels also go up. Any unbridled fear would yield to lunacy. Everyone wanted to know what was going on above ground. Had issues been resolved or had they worsened? How many of the original 63 will surface on opening day and what will they see and find?

As the underground survivors finally surface, they find that their world is almost unrecognizable. So much has changed. Food, water, medicine and fuel are scarce. Currency holds no value. Law and order is non existent. Is there any good left in the world?

As Wynter and Chase navigate through their new normal, they do so with a determined purpose and a strong will to survive. Their new normal is filled with surprises, challenges, disappointments, victories and many opportunities to work together and depend on one another.

This book is filled with villains and heroes. Also filled with plenty of people who are in need of rescue and those who are willing to take up the challenge and accomplish the job, no matter the cost. Many examples of bravery and self sacrifice point to the fact that there is still good left in Wynter and Chase’s much changed world.

I love stories where people and places get opportunities to change for the better, where old thing are made new and where beauty can rise from the ashes. Well done!

I received a complimentary copy of this awesome book from Howard Books. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
