My Bedroom is an Office is an incredible interior design resource for anyone looking to redecorate or moving in to a new place. Honestly, I wish I had this when I moved to a different country two years ago (and subsequently returned) - I really liked the easy to follow, question and answer format, and the references to helpful tips and other resources. This text is extremely easy to read and aesthetically pleasing, with its crisp, minimalist style and high-quality images.

I received a complementary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A good book with simple ideas to help ordinary people (non-interior designers) solve common interior-design problems. The style range could be a bit wider but otherwise this is a good book on a much-needed subject.

Such a nicely done book that really shows what simple changes can bring to a room and change not only the look and reel of it but also how you feel in the room.
I love that this book is not full of color and brightness but rate rises focuses on softer colors and actual design ideas instead.
beautifully dine!

Firstly I really like the cover of this book. It spoke my syle. And the title of this book caught my attention since I have an office in my bedroom. As I began to read this book, I like the way the author answers to all common questions related to interior designs. I know nothing in interior designs, currently, I just moved to a new place, and I still need to decorate my place. There are a lot of questions about interiors in my mind, like what is the best way to optimize my kitchen, or what color should I choose for wall paints, etc. And I would say this book replies to some of the questions I had. After reading this, I got new insights into interior design. What is interesting about this book is in every chapter, it has examples in pictures, so you could imagine it, and also it has a summary for each explanation, I guess this is a good idea for someone who wants to have a quick look.

A great book to get a first idea of how interior design and decoration works and how to achieve certain goals within a flat or room.
The Author has answered questions that most homeowners are concerned about, e.g how to make a windowless bathroom look bright or how to make a home feel cosy. The books shares neat tips and tricks that help in achieving these goals.
Photos and explanations give an idea of how the advice can be used in the living environment.

I loved it and will definitely heed the advice in my upcoming move to a new home.

this is a really great book for homeowners and renters - the solutions given are really practical and achievable and, with a new topic on every page, there is so much covered here that everyone will be able to get some value from this book. the real beauty of it for me though, as I am attention-challenged and very visual is that the topics are covered so concisely, no rambling on for pages and pages, and the text is matched with equal numbers of photos and the photo content is fantastic. I would consider buying a hard copy of this to return to over time.

A super informative book with great photos and real life examples. The author has put a lot of her own experience in the book, which made it so much better. I will definitely use some of the tips when re-decorating my spare bedroom into a home office!

This is a beautiful book with creative solutions to a lot of decorating problems. It didn't solve my issues, but I think nothing short of moving will work for those! I gained lots of ideas for when I am in the new house!

Hope for my house! I think I can pull some design ideas together now, thanks to Joanna Thornhill's advice. I don't mean some steel or neon pink OTT design, but some indication that I thought about how I want my place to look and made an effort to make my Stuff look deliberate.
I like her initial advice to live in a new place for a while before you do anything drastic. Figure out where the sun is, where you really live in the house, what the annoying bits are that you need a solution for. It's easy to spend too much on the wrong thing, or think you can't change how your home looks because you have too small a budget. The suggestions and inspiration-photos in this book are down-to-earth enough for you to tackle when it's a slightly-slanting, overlooked Normal House that you're trying to prettify, not some manhattan loft.
Advice on combining colour should help you steer clear of disaster, and there are tips on how to arrange ornaments and art to look cool and curated.
Real houses made pretty - that's what this book is, and I'll be flicking back through it next time I need to style a room.

A very good collection of advices from one of the best professional interiors stylist.

In this book, the information is separated by sections where the author explains the concepts and techniques accompanied with inspiring pictures.

First off the title, My Bedroom is an Office, is a rather misleading as there is only one double page on this topic!

The rest of the book is about maximising the interior of your home, from storage to wallpaper to tiles, how to make a room more relaxing and much more besides. It provides ideas for home owners and renters too, for all rooms of the home.

Overall it feels a little like a collection of the ideas you may find in the monthly home magazines. I like the concept of this book and expect this is the type of book that will be found in the public library.

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review.

An aesthetically pleasing book that provides food for thought for your design dilemmas.

The format is easy to use; My Bedroom is an Office presents dilemmas (e.g., how to use colour in a room, refresh old furniture, use artwork) and then provides some guidelines and ideas for how to tackle your dilemma. The author considers issues from the viewpoint of a renter or an owner and covers a wide range of issues. Definitely a good resource whenever you are considering some updates to your living space or have just moved to a new place.

Thanks to the author, Laurence King Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

I really liked this – the text is useful, but even just looking at the photos is inspiring. It's good to see lots of different types of homes covered (I live in Scotland, and often find that non-UK home decor books don't take into consideration that a lot of people here don't live in new-build houses, and what might be considered a historical home in the US isn't considered particularly old here!), I'd recommend this, and will be referring back to it as my home develops and grows.

The book is an easy to read guide to designing your interiors, laid out in the form of questions and answers alongside appealing photos. I think I would have preferred if there had been more a structure to the questions, arranging them by room or category, as they seemed (except the final question) to be in random order.

I thought this book would be like all other design books: a breeze through full of beautiful pictures with little text, with maybe a few usable tips for my situation. This is not that book! This is a book that explains why something works and why not. How you can really use that space optimal and even unique diy projects and low cost solutions. Every page starts with a question, and honestly most questions I have asked myself. From: “My lighting feels stark, how can I soften it?” to “How can I ensure the TV doesn’t dominate my space?”. I mean, those are the important questions! I learned a lot while reading this book, and I made lots of notes! Also, yes, the photography is stunning as is usual in such books, but there are also pictures of very normal interiors, where you can see it’s been lived in. This book was far above my expectation, and if you want actual solutions that are doable, than this is the book for you!

I was given an ebook in exchange for an honest review :)

A really useful guide to decoration of your space. It covers a lot of ground, from storage, to picking furniture, to dealing with a windowless bathroom, to picking and matching colours. One to keep around for your next move.

This beautifully laid out book is full of practical ideas on how to make the most of small and/or dual purpose spaces. Perfect for those of us who have limited space but don't want to compromise on style.
