Devoted to Love (Devoted Lovers, #2 ) Shayla Black ... Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for allowing me to preview this book. Josiah Grand( Ex CIA now bodyguard) Magnolia West ( doesn't believe in love..wild past) I enjoyed it but I could have done with a little less graphic violence.. There was plenty of that as well as laughs, tears, fear, suspense, plenty of emotions and LOTS of steamy sex that did get us to a very HEA.

Devoted to Love is a standalone book in the Devoted Lovers series. First two books in the series focus on the guys at the EM Security company.

First book is focused on Cutter Bryant and actress, Shealyn West. Book 2 is Josiah Grant and Magnolia West's story. Maggie is Shealyns sister. The book starts out right with Maggie and Josiah meeting at her sisters wedding to Cutter.

As the wedding is located at Maggie and Shealyns grandparents farm, The guys of EM Security learn of the Enlightenment Fields people. These cult-like neighbors have been harassing the farmers to sell their lands next to them and there is some suspicion of foul play involved.

Josiah agrees to stick around after the wedding to look into this cult. If that gives him some time with Maggie, all the better. One look at Maggie and he was completely smitten. A few days and nights with her is just what he needs.

While Josiah tries to figure out what's going on with the cult, his crush on Maggie grows expediently. It's the last thing he wants or needs, but Maggie has gotten under his skin and he can't get her out. The same can be said for Maggie. Maggie has trust and commitment issues but Josiah may be the one man who can earn that trust.

With any small town setting, there are a lot of side characters that bring a lot to the story. With the danger that increases as the cult gets desperate for the neighboring lands, more EM security men come to lend a hand in Josiah's investigation into the cult. We get a few hints to possible new books in the series.

These two were meant for one another, and while their bodies seemed to agree on that little fact, their minds and hearts were a little slow to catch up, so the angst is a little high with this one. While they were fighting their feelings for one another there was also danger lurking, so there was a bit of suspense and excitement to be found amongst the pages too. I really enjoyed this newest installment in the Devoted Lovers series, it had everything you could want in a romance, and the steam level was off the charts... these two had me blushing more than a few times!! Highly recommend!!

I loved it so much, it was super hot,passionate and sensual!I loved how the characters met in the wedding and I liked that they were flirty with each other! I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down because I simply loved Josiah and Maggie!

I couldn’t get enough of these two they were so hot together!Whenever these two were together it was like an explosion! They are my new top favorite couple and I wish we had more of them!

This goes to my favorite books, I love Shayla’s books but for some reason this one touched me more! If you are looking for a hot book with a swoon worthy hero and a sweet and sexy heroine this is perfect!

First let me say I love Josiah, I knew I would because Shayla Black always has a way of writing the most swoon worthy alpha men that you can’t help but fall for and Josiah is just another example of what we as women all wish we could have, someone who will love us unconditionally and be there for us and protect us from the horrors of this world.

I knew he would be a badass and alpha and I was right on both accounts. He won me over very early on when he came to the aid of both Brea when One Mile showed up at the wedding and also when he stood up for Maddie with Sawyer also at the wedding of Cutter and Shaelyn. I should mention here that Maddie is Shaelyn’s sister. This book is full of twists and turns and mystery and and all of it centers around Comfort Texas where Shaelyn and Maddie were raised by their loving grandparents. This kept me on the edge of my seat and reading long into the night wanting to know what was going to happen next and as usual Shayla did not disappoint! I smiled and I cried but but mostly I wished it would’ have ended so soon!

I fell hard and fast for special operative and bodyguard Josiah Grant; he ticked all the boxes for me and I found him to be totally swoon worthy.
Magnolia West has made mistakes in the past and hooking up at her sister’s wedding isn’t really the best idea, but when she meets Josiah, she cannot help herself, after all it’s only for the night. What's the worst that could happen?.
The chemistry between Josiah and Maggie is of the charts and it burns brightly, although neither of them are looking for happily ever after which makes for a nice change. When these two meet you just know that they will be perfect for one another. If they can both move on from their pasts, then they may have a chance.
When danger makes an appearance, will Josiah be able to protect and save Maggie, can he prove to her that his love is real and that it worth taking a chance?
The suspense and intrigue led to quite a few unexpected twists and turns that had me guessing for much of the book. There is romance, drama, smoking hot scenes and anxious moments. As I have come to expect from Shayla Black, Devoted To Love is extremely well written and highly entertaining.

Another amazing read that had me hooked from page one. Josiah & Maggie never ever wanted to be in another relationship again but the moment they met, they knew they were doomed. This book was crazy good, with a hot hook-up and a crazy cult that everyone must read. Josiah and Maggie are a couple that you won’t forget. Great read with amazing characters that I truly enjoyed.

Josiah Grant and Maggie West first met at Maggie's sister's wedding. It was "lust-at-first-sight! A one night hook-up just wasn't enough for Maggie and Josiah. Complications from a cult-like group very aggressively trying to buy Maggie's grandparents' ranch meant Josiah had to go into protective mode. With assistance from fellow operatives from FM Security he set out to solve the problem. Maggie was determined to help. That led to more complications but didn't stop the hot, sexy nights.

Devoted to Love is the second book in Shayla Black's Devoted Lovers series. This is a true edge-of-your-seat, can't-put-it-down book. I loved every minute of it. Shayla Black is a masterful storyteller and in this case will delight her readers with a super sexy and hot, super suspenseful read. Even after I finished reading Devoted to Love I found myself still entralled with the story. I loved Josiah and his most competent, masterful way in the bedroom. He's definitely my new book boyfriend. Five for Five! Just sayin' - sigh.

For Josiah finding love was not something he was looking for but spending the night with Maggie would be the perfect way to end his time at his friend/coworkers wedding. When he first saw Maggie he felt something deep inside but he didn't want to listen to his true feelings. He had been burned before.
Maggie didn't believe that love was in her future. When she loved someone, they left her. Except for her grandparents and her sister. She lived with her grandparents and her sister just married the love of her life. But Maggie knew that love would not happen for her. When she saw Josiah before the wedding, his stare did something to her.
After their night together, Maggie tried to push him away but Josiah wanted to help her stop the neighboring group from bothering them about selling their farm. What he learned while at the other farm had him worried for Maggie and her grandparents.
Will Maggie give Josiah a chance at a relationship? Can Josiah show Maggie that he will not hurt or leave her? Can they find out just what is going on at the farm that seems to be sketchy?
I love Shayla Black and her writing style always pulls me into each story I read. This one had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. I highly recommend this author, no matter what you read you will not be disappointed.

Magnolia West finds an unexpected and intense attraction to Josiah Grant while participating in her sister’s wedding held at the family’s ranch in rural Comfort, Texas. She is all too happy for a hookup since her luck at love has been less than stellar. Josiah Grant has his own issues when it comes to commitment hence his policies to never open his heart again. Josiah’s plans change when danger to Maggie and her grandparents becomes quite acute because a cult has owning the ranch in its sights with deadly intent. Their relationship goes into hyper drive as events force Maggie and Josiah in close contact, physically and emotionally. Maggie is determined to defend her family and their property refusing to run and hide while her Alpha protector deals with the threat much to Josiah’s frustration that she will not stay out of the front lines.

The main part of this story deals with the extremist cult group that has been buying up land all around the ranch. People opposed to them have died under mysterious circumstances making it clear how dangerous the cult is to Maggie and her family. Not surprisingly, Josiah plans to infiltrate the cult spending time in their compound trying to get a fix on its leader and his minions. This trope is not one of my favorites so that figures into my rating; the cult’s methods of luring in members are fairly predictable, some of them just plan sad and very unpleasant.

This book is the second in the Devoted Lovers series, but can be read as a standalone. Fans of Ms. Black will be familiar with her type of heroes and stories including the amount and length of steamy scenes. Though not mentioned in the synopsis, Josiah is a Dom and there are elements of that lifestyle in this story so be apprised if this is a new to you author.

Josiah never thought that a one night hook-up with the sister of the bride would stop him in his tracks and take him on a wild ride. Maggie does not let anyone in her inner circle but Josiah becomes more than what she bargains for. And BTW - there is also a crazed cult looking to take over the area and Josiah has to stop them. Shayla Black has a unique knack for writing storylines that draw the reader in while at the same time creating characters they cannot help but fall in love with. The Devoted Lovers series is quickly becoming another top notch series that readers old and new cannot get enough of. 5 Stars are not enough.

A hook up is what they both thought would work for both of them. The stars had a different path for them.



Maggie loves her sister and grandparents unconditionally. She is like a mother protecting her cubs when it comes to her family. She would fight to the death for them. That is put to the test when a cult tries to railroad her grandparents in giving up their land to them. Shayla Black has written a story full of suspense that has you holding your breath to see what happens next.



Josiah fights his inner turmoil with the need and desire to protect Maggie from harm. Maggie struggles with the anxiety of letting her emotions rise to the surface and face how she really feels about Josiah. I hope we see more stories in this amazing series.

This author is one of my very first reads, actually I believe my third author ever. So therefore I have read her books before and am very familiar with the author’s writing style!

If you’ve read and are familiar with Shaylas’ writing style you’ll understand when I say this is such a Shayla Black book! The hero is mega alpha, (bdsm related) Dom, super sexy and brave of course! The heroine is beautiful, smart and strong with a hint of damsel in distress. My favorite kinds! That said, this book was a little of everything, and all i enjoyed!

Maggie meets Josiah at her sisters wedding. He was there to protect and she was there, well because her sister was getting married! They spend a sinful and amazing night together, only to think they will part the next day. Come to find out , they will be spending a lot more time together than anticipated. Josiah is guarding her while guarding his own heart!

Maggie is in a lot more danger than Josiah imagined. When he stays to guard her and find out what is happening in town, when he does find out, it’s a lot more threatening. When the danger gets closer, do does Josiah and Maggie. It’s kind of really beautiful, the way they are with each other. This is BDSM based and I LOVED EVERY PAGE OF IT! Shayla Black really writes that genre amazingly! So believe that the scenes are sizzling!

The characters are so intertwined, the plot fits well and everything is in order as far as reading goes. I did read this in one sitting because well, I just love her writing style and it captivated me and kept going. There wasn’t even a point where it was slightly slow! Josiah is there with other operatives in his group, making sure everyone stays safe through the wedding and reception. He's only there for a few days, until he finds out that the new cult down the road doesn't cause any trouble at the ranch. This cult has been buying up all the land around the West family farm, a farm that Magolia's grandparents are not about to give up!!
After a few close calls and, a few hours spent inside this compound, Josiah decides he needs help from his fellow operatives to keep the families and townspeople safe from these crazy members who will do anything, including murder, in order to take over the whole town and county!
The immediate heat between these two is unmistakable but, both have already been burned and, don't believe in getting involved at all. Fate obviously has another plan!
This was a book that you don't want to put down! The heat SIZZLES!!!

Shayla Black is a name I am way to familiar with, she always knows how to give me a punch to the gut! Devoted to Love was no different I hated her for awhile while I caught my breath, but in the end she really apologized in the right way!!

Black writes engrossing romantic suspense. As with Devoted to Pleasure, Devoted to Love has a sexy love story wrapped in a gripping drama.

Magnolia West can't resist Josiah Grant at her sister's wedding. He's just the sexy hunk she needs to take the edge off. She's a love 'em and leave 'em kind of girl so the fact that Josiah is only in town for the nuptials is perfect.

The sex is off the charts and both are trying hard to quell their desire for further contact. Josiah is quick to volunteer to help out with the problematic cult buying up all the local farmland including the West's. Josiah and Maggie are pretty sure the group is willing to kill to get what they want.

Between sessions of off the wall sex the couple is put through the worse trying to prove the cult's evil acts which seems impossible.

This book is full of sex which I know is a draw to some and a detractor for others, including me. It's well written and a good read.

This book sounded like it would be something I would really enjoy but I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't that it was poorly written or anything, I just didn't realize that this was part of a series so I kinda felt lost. I think in a few months I'll go back and read the beginning of this series and then go and read this one again.

I liked the story I just couldn't give it the love I wanted to. I think if you know this author than this will be a great book. It just wasn't my favorite.

I hadn’t read the book previous to this one and I think it may be recommended to do so. Only because the beginning of this one is SO abrupt and I’m wondering if there was a better lead in from the first book. Either way, it was a clumsy start that left a little baffled because it doesn’t give you an opportunity to form any connections. And I think the romance suffered because of it.

After that the story started to pick up and gain some traction. There were interesting obstacles and interactions. A looming and mildly complex threat gave the book some needed suspense. And I liked the development of the secondary characters,

My only other complaint was the ridiculous stubbornness of the characters to stay at the farm. I just felt that there had to be a better reason for them to place themselves in danger than was given.

Overall, I was entertained but I wasn’t head over heels for it.
