Putting aside business before pleasure should have been relatively simple but in one moment everything changed. Ronan had to make a different plan to search for the answers he desperately wanted. Georgia would provide the right support when he needed it the most. A mutually beneficial relationship that would give them everything they needed.

3 stars.

A fast paced romance that is set in Italy ( what can I ask more?).

Unfortunately I felt that the characters didn't have any development at all. Their romance was kind of off to me. Although I did like the characters and also the writing style which was really easy to read but the characters were just a little off to me.

Overall this was a good read and will definitely reread this one soon.

Stevie‘s review of Racing Hearts (Hearts on Fire, Book 1) by L.M. Connolly
Contemporary Romance published by Tule Publishing 06 May 19

I’m a great fan of Lynne Connolly’s historical romances. However, I’ve read far fewer of her contemporaries, whether written under that name, or – as in this case – under the name L.M. Connolly. The situation obviously needed rectified by means of this new series, especially since it started off with a novel involving a motor racing heroine. In fact, Georgia Trent isn’t just a racing driver: she’s been involved in all aspects of her father’s team since she was old enough to wield a spanner. And she’s not afraid to take risks on the track, either – think Susie Wolff, Claire Williams, and Jamie Chadwick all rolled into one. Meanwhile, our hero, Ronan Miller, while he has driven cars competitively, is far better known as the owner of an American high-end sports car manufacturer. Less commonly known is the fact that he is the son of the Italian car mogul, who is considering sponsoring the Trents’ racing team.

As our story begins, Ronan and his half-brother, Ethan, are at a race meeting where Georgia is about to compete. Ronan’s world has just been shaken by some unexpected news regarding his and Ethan’s late mother, when he spots Georgia in the pit lane. Instantly captivated, Ronan watches Georgia race, until an unexpected move by another car sends her spinning out of the competition.

Despite her bruises, Georgia agrees to accompany her father to a gala ball, where they will meet with their prospective sponsor: an Italian with an eye for the ladies. Upon arrival, though, Georgia is swept away by Ronan and they spend the night together. Knowing that Ronan isn’t one for relationships, Georgia is disappointed but not surprised to wake and find him gone. Ronan, meanwhile, has been dragged away reluctantly due to a family emergency and spends the next few months acting as caretaker manager to his father’s firm, biding his time until he can reveal himself as the new majority shareholder.

After trying unsuccessfully to contact Ronan regarding an unexpected consequence of their night together, Georgia eventually tracks him down in Italy, where she learns his family is far more influential than she had been led to assume. Once Ronan learns that he has been prevented by others from hearing Georgia’s news earlier, he promises to do the decent thing and takes her to the family pile, where his father is recuperating from a stroke. There are also garages housing a lot of very fine classic cars – ideal for Georgia to work on – while she’s away from the racing action she craves.

While I’m not a great fan of stories that use pregnancy as a plot device to bring protagonists (back) together, I did enjoy the twists placed on the trope by this one. I also greatly enjoyed Georgia’s befriending of Ronan’s father and her determination to help him along the road to recovery where Ronan was neglectful. I was less keen on the falling-out the couple had and not entirely convinced by their reconciliation. Ronan was a little too pushy and domineering for my liking, much as I loved Georgia. On the other hand, I was very taken by Georgia’s long-time friend, Larry, and loved the plot twist at the end that sets us up for two more books in the series.

Set in and around Milan, Italy, Racing Hearts takes readers to the heart of the motor racing industry with a sizzlingly sexy story.
Georgia Trent has grown up in and around her father’s racing team after her mother’s death while she was just a child. She loves nothing more than tinkering with an engine or hurtling around a race track and until she met Ronan Miller that was her only focus in life.
Ronan was a successful racing driver until an injury forced his retirement. Since then he has made his way in the world by setting up his own motor company, designing and building sleek and beautiful high end vehicles. His driving force has been to take over his father’s Bianchi Motors — he’s never forgiven his father for cheating on his mother and forcing her to abandon him as a child.
The sexual chemistry between Ronan and Georgia is off the charts, but Ronan has never learned to trust anybody with his heart. The fact that she’s pregnant with his child is something he sees as a solution to a publicity problem he faces - marry her and start a family and the press will love him, making it easier for him to promote his business venture in a positive way.
I loved the way these two fenced around each other and the way Ronan denied his feelings. The story moved along at a clipping pace and it was fun to see these two falling for each other.

Racing Hearts by L.M. Connolly
What starts as revenge soon flares to passion.
Italian race car tycoon Ronan Miller is on the cusp of achieving his elaborate revenge when he meets flame-haired back-up driver Georgia Trent. Intrigued by the beautiful and risk-loving beauty, he thinks he can use her as an instrument of his revenge, but after a spontaneous night of passion, he has other plans until fate knocks them both on a different track.
Georgia Trent has doggedly pursued a goal that has nothing to do with Mr. Tall, Dark, Seductive and Handsome. But one night she indulges her sensual, passionate and impulsive nature, never dreaming the consequences will be so permanent. Wanting to do the right thing, Georgia tracks down the elusive Roman who’s disappeared after a family emergency.
Watching Georgia game her way into his office reminds him of all he’s been missing, but Roman’s always been business before pleasure. But business won’t help him now. He is going to have to use all his seductive skills to woo Georgia back to his side, but has he waited too long?
This is Georgia Trent and Ronan Miller's story.
Georgia Trent was spectacularly beautiful, with a redhead’s creamy skin and mane of flaming hair. He preferred cool brunettes but every man needed a change from time to time. It wouldn’t be any hardship to romance her a little, woo her away from his father’s side—if she was willing. Women he set his sights on always came to him willingly. If she didn’t, no shame, no blame. Team Trent wouldn’t suffer from this. He’d leave them as he found them, no better, no worse.
A baseball cap skittered across the track. A small person in a white fire suit chased it, a wealth of red-gold hair flowing down her back. The woman shook her mane from her face, combing it with her fingers.
Ronan Miller looked up from the papers his half brother had just handed him. He thrust the bundle back at Ethan as if the sheets were poisoned. “And you decide to tell me this now? They found our mother’s body last month, and you’ve only just gotten around to telling me?”

Ronan and Georgia’s story had a very harlequin feel to it but thankfully it was free of the jerk Alpha hero antics and the senseless drama for the sake of drama bits. I really liked it. It was low key but cute.

I loved Ronan, he was one cool cucumber, which is in total contrast to Georgia who’s a bit of a fire cracker. I’m addicted to polar opposites finding love and this book delivered, so it’s no surprise I ended up liking these two.

When Ronan and Georgia meet, their chemistry is hot and their connection is instant. But their one night leads to lifelong consequences neither one was expecting.

Fast forward a few months, and Georgia has steeled her nerves and is ready to confront Ronan face to face. Seeing the woman he can’t stop thinking about again is almost too perfect for Ronan. The news that she brings rocks his world but for the better.

I loved that she never entertained the thought of keeping the child from Ronan and I loved that Ronan was ready to take on his responsibilities as a father and that he hadn’t forgotten about Georgia in the months they’ve been apart. The twist that has him proposing was a bit cliché but the secondary plot tied it all in together.

This was a cute quickie read that has an ongoing plot that will continue in the next book about Ronan’s brother. This mystery lost a bit of steam for me but I enjoyed Georgia and Ronan’s story and thought the ending was very sweet.

LM Connolly is a new-to-me author, and since I am a die-hard racing fan, well, the premise of this story (series) grabbed my attention.

RACING HEARTS is an intriguing story involving revenge, fighting family members, the racing world, and one night that changed everything in Ronan and Georgia’s lives. The cover description gives you a very good idea of what to expect from this story. While I enjoyed their story very much, I was hoping that some things would have gone down a different road. That is on me, not the author. What those expectations were I won’t go into for I will not spoil this story for another reader.

If you love a story that is emotional on many levels, sexy as sin and has believable characters then you would enjoy RACING HEARTS. I’m now curious to see where this series heads, so I’m looking forward to CAPTIVE HEARTS.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Racing Hearts is the first story I have read by L.M. Connolly. In fact, it is the first time I had heard of the author. I keep up with Tule Publishing which is the publisher of this story which is why I took a chance on it. It reads much like a Harlequin billionaire romance that I read years ago. The characters are likable even the bossy Ronan Miller. Georgia Trent and he both are passionate about racing. Racing is not the big issue of their relationship, like I thought it would be. There is instant lust, perhaps instant love on Ronan’s part at least, confusions, misconceptions, revenge is not sweet and forgiveness.

An entertaining escapism book where all is well by the end. Love wins, family reunited and happily ever afters happen as they do in any modern fairy tale. 3.5 Stars because I wanted to see Georgia take the men’s world of racing by storm but didn’t.

I hate it but I have to say that this one did not live up to the potential I felt the plot and characters possessed. It was at best an ok read for me. I felt the characters weren't developed as well as they could have been and while I was originally pulled to this book by the promise of a story about a female race car driver as well as a story of revenge it seemed that both of these plot points were overpowered by the circumstances that occur. LM Connelly is a new to me author and I want to read more before forming an opinion. Hopefully other books will show more of their storytelling talents.

A fast paced romance set in Italy among the world of luxury cars and racing.

Ronan Miller was in Monte Stefano during the big race. But, he wasn’t just there to watch. He was there to get even with his father for his mother and sister’s deaths. Ronan had finally purchased enough shares to take control Bianchi Motors, his father’s luxury car company, and was about to drop that bomb on him. When Ronan learned his father had set his eyes on Georgia Trent, the daughter of Team Trent’s owner and the only female driver in the race, Ronan decided he would make a move first. Ronan and Georgia spent the night together and when Georgia shows up pregnant months later, he decides he will be a responsible father. But Ronan also has another reason to marry Georgia. He needs a positive image and reputation when he makes the announcement that he has taken over the family business. What could go wrong when they are both getting what they want?

I was excited to read this book and wasn’t disappointed. There was a lot of action and drama in the story. But sometimes, I just wanted to ask the characters what they were thinking when certain situations came up. Even though Georgia was a virgin, she sure didn’t act like it the first time her and Ronan were together. I did like her take charge attitude when she wanted to talk to Ronan and his office girls wouldn’t allow her near him. Ronan was the typical alpha male in this story; strong willed and a bit stubborn. But, I did enjoy the story and seeing how they came to an agreement with their future in the end. This book is the beginning of a new series and I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

It absolutely breaks my heart to write this review. I love Connolly's books. She writes amazing characters and gives them serious heft and issues to deal with. They find people who are well-matched to them to love. That is not this book.

This book skims the surface of characterization, devolves into bare tropes, and generally feels like a baseline HP romance. I expect better from Connolly in every way. Maybe it was the page limit. Maybe it was the expectations of the format. Maybe it was something from the publisher. I have no idea. I can only say that if this is the first book of hers you read, try again. She writes so much better than this!

I'm definitely going to try the next one in the series because I'm assuming this is just an aberration. I *want* to give Connolly the glowing reviews I love giving her for the amazing books she writes; I just can't do it *this time*.

This was a fun, quick read set in the racing world. Ronan Miller has a family racing legacy, as does Georgia Trent. Business machinations both draw them together and push them apart and Ronan must work hard to get Georgia back. The back story of Ronan's family is an interesting one. The book opens shortly after his mother's death, and Ronan and his half-brother come to learn that all is not what it seems with his mother's identity or life (and death). The book closes with another secret from her past... and the potential for more books!

HEA
Epilogue

I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Ugh this book had two of my least favorite tropes-virginity and an accidental pregnancy. It seemed like an 80s romance novel. I was so excited for a race car driving heroine but that part of her got totally overshadowed. The mystery didn't seem that intriguing to me.
