I would describe this as one of those teen TV series.. a bunch of great ingredients but not really a depth to a story or characters.
Sure that has to do something with the shortness of the story or the writing style. But either way is not less enjoyable read it just left me with the possibilities that this could be so much more.
We are left with enough of cliffhanger for wanting to know what will happen next!
Great cover!!!

I've never read anything by this author before but I enjoyed this first book which was a quick, fast read. But beware, this does end on a cliffhanger and if that bothers you, be forewarned. Generally, I don't like cliffhangers especially if I have to wait several months for the second or third books to be published but I'm unsure as to when the following books will be ready. That being said, this was an interesting, contemporary romantic suspense with a whole lot of steam. I'm not a fan of Asher but I'm guessing he'll redeem himself in the following books. Kylie is an interesting character, along with her two brothers, but she is more likeable than Asher. I wouldn't necessarily say there were many surprises, but it was well written and enjoyable. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

This is my first book from this author. I found it charming and romantic. Great characters and even better storyline. Well written.

This was a short quick read, but I really got pulled in to the characters and the plot. Asher is a very bad guy, but Kylie isn't exactly a good girl either. She takes Asher's deal to save her brother; he makes the deal to destroy his.

This was a short quick read, but I really got pulled in to the characters and the plot. Asher is a very bad guy, but Kylie isn't exactly a good girl either. She takes Asher's deal to save her brother; he makes the deal to destroy his. Unfortunately, just as this was getting really good, it ends very abruptly. The description didn't say it was a cliffhanger, so even though the title listed it as a book 1, I didn't expect that end. Looking at the price of this book compared to the length, I'm hoping it isn't a ploy just dividing one book into two to jack up the price. Other than the crazy ending and the name of the series which has no obvious relation to the story, I really liked the plot, the action, and the chemistry. I will probably read book two since I need to know what happens.

Net Galley provided an ARC.

Asher is the ultimate alpha in this story. He will kill, fight, and do whatever it takes to remain at the top. While his past is a bit sketchy and his family is so messed up, you can’t help but see how hard he is trying to keep Kylie and yet at the same time he is pushing her away. It is a really interesting story and one I didn’t want to put down, since I really wanted to know what happens next. The ending was not my favorite by any means, I was a bit disappointed, I guess I just wanted to know more details and get a little closure on different things. The fight at the end was an odd scene to wrap up the book with, it just seemed like Asher was trying to hard to get the girl when all he really needed to do was open up to her and tell her the truth about his life, share his heart not fight. But this does leave the storyline open for another book. There were parts of this story that I thought were lacking a little if this was to be about a poker game and they only play poker once in the whole book, but we do get a lot more time in the pit with Chase and Tyler. Overall, it was a good read and one that will keep your attention.

Very good book! I definitely enjoyed reading this book! I didn't like the ending to much it kinda just cuts off but it's still was really good! This is Asher and Kylie book, Asher is trying to get revenge against the man who slept with his wife while he was in jail! What better then to go after his new girlfriend?! Kylie has one brother that's a car thief and is in jail and his twin is an underground mma champ! He's fighting to try to post bail for his twin, Kylie is a card shark and in a high stakes poker game to win money to get her brother out of jail! She ends up playing the owner who is none other than Asher ,and looses ! This book was a great story! I wish the ending was better but still worth reading!! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

Sweet Spadesby T.A. Torres is the story of Kylie Turner and Asher Black. Kylie is out to help her brothers, which leads her to a notorious poker club. Asher is a good man but he knows Kylie is good and this is a good opportunity to get back a wrong that was done to him. But is he finding out that he may be getting something more that he didn't know he wanted? Quick hot read...enjoyed it.

Intriguing!

A good alpha male plays games and claims all story with some interesting twists. However, the ending left me feeling very unsatisfied.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
