Romantic Suspense Crime Story
This is a very good romantic suspense, criminal investigation story. It is not a cozy story by any means. There are lots of vile things and unsavory things that take place in the story and they all add to the suspense. I received this book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Another Man’s Son by Glenys O’Connell
Lobster Cove Series

When Ben Asher and Kathryn Fitzgerald Morgan see one another again or the first time in seven years it is as if those seven years have never happened. A dance, a kiss and then a rude awakening as Katherine’s husband steps in to “claim” her...not that he WANTS her but he does want to own her. The story moves forward and we find out what happened during the seven years Ben and Kathryn apart, what both have been doing, what kept them apart, misunderstandings that have occurred and then when a kidnapping takes place all bets are off as the clock ticks and a child needs to be saved.

This was an interesting story that was much like many of the genre. It was well told with characters I could empathize with while still thinking at times they were rather stupid to have made the decisions they did. If more than one of them had just been honest with themselves and those they cared about their lives could have been so much different. The story was told linearly with an eventual HEA for the main characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and The Wild Rose Press, Inc. for the ARC – This is my honest review.

My first time reading this author but I know it won't be my last! Wonderful suspense in this one. I enjoyed the slow burn to the second chance romance. Really became a book I needed to finish right now so that I could see who perpetrated this crime.

Interesting secondary characters. Loved the ending so much!

Veteran Ben returns home to find his girlfriend a mother and married to the scion of the man who “owns” the town. A few years later, FBI agent Ben returns acting as a temporary sheriff investigating organized crime related to the same family, but this time there’s a hook. His former girlfriend’s son has been kidnapped, and that son happens to be his too. The company town provides a great setting to populate with suspects and interesting personalities that keep the story moving at a very quick pace.

When Ben Asher left for the military, he left Kathryn Fitzgerald behind but wrote to her faithfully. He never received answering letters and assumed she had moved on. After Ben left, Kathryn found out that she was pregnant and after not hearing from Ben, agreed to marry wealthy Ket Morgan Jr. Ben has now returned to Lobster Cove as the interim Sheriff, in an undercover capacity for the F.B.I. He is investigating the Morgan’s who are believed to be involved in various criminal activities. When Kathryn’s son, Alex, is kidnapped he finds out that Alex may be his biological son. There are so many outside forces at work as Ben and Kathryn search for their son. He may have been kidnapped by someone who hates the Morgan family and is out for revenge…that could be almost anyone. The Morgan’s have had a stranglehold on the town for years and events will soon come to an explosive conclusion. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
