When Meghan Quinn titles work, they just work. they are fun, and enjoyable, and lighthearted but with enough emotion that you are engaged in the fun and the romance.

This was the 1st Meghan Quinn book I read and it definitely won't be the last. A great read!

I love small-town romances, especially when the town itself becomes another character in the book. Port Snow is the kind of place you can see yourself visiting, seeing the sights, enjoying the local cuisine, and meeting all of the interesting characters. I enjoyed this story from the very first page and couldn't wait to read about the brothers, their 'curse', and how Griffin would get his HEA and a second chance at love. Ren is the kind of heroine you want to get to know and her strength was inspiring. I loved them together and seeing the emotional connection was the best part. I am hooked on this series and can't wait to read more!

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This book was not bad overall but I just don't think it was for me. Others nay love it but I found it lacking in keeping my interest in the story.

Seriously, who doesn't love a bunch of flawed, crazy, hot brothers who've been cursed--literally--by love?? Sounds like a challenge to me, right?

And it certainly is one! The Knightly brothers are dealing with the potential that the curse laid upon them while they were drunk and disorderly in New Orleans is really true. Especially once the town gossip train hears about it! Living in a small town, the Knightly brothers may be the hottest bachelors in town, but no one will go near them.

Until Rren Winters literally crashes into Griffin Knightly's life. Sorta. Ren's new in town--she's the new algebra teacher in Port Snow. And when she meets the local wildlife--a moose to be exact--Griffin is the firefighter who comes to her aid.

Griffin and Ren's romance starts with a bang--and hopefully doesn't end in a whimper. Especially once Ren gets wind of the curse. But is Ren just what Griffin needs to break it?

A perfect blend of love, loss, hope, fear, snark, and seriously sassy side characters, That Second Chance is the perfect start to this new, fun Getting Lucky series.

So... I have to admit, it took me a while to truly get invested in this book and the fact that it is the first in a series (by an author that I typically enjoy) was the main impetus that got me through. It could be because I was not prepared for it to be a slow burn (I don't know why I had a misconception, but it is what it is); that being said I did enjoy that the Ren and Griff really developed a genuine friendship before getting into a relationship. Because of the nature of the plot and Griff's romantic history, I kind of knew what to expect from the story, but I still enjoyed the ride. So this was a bit of a middle of the road read for me. It did set up Port Snow as an idyllic setting and the Knightly brothers as interesting leading men, so I look forward to reading the rest of the series! 3 out of 5 wine glasses.

I was thrilled to dive in and review the first book in author Meghan Quinn’s Getting Lucky series. Set in a small Maine coastal town and centering about four brothers who suffered a “curse” on a trip to New Orleans two years prior, this series promises to be intriguing, entertaining, and a whole lot of fun. That Second Chance features a widow who not only blames himself for his wife’s death because of the curse and a woman new in town who arrives in quite an unusual fashion. In addition I loved that this was a bit of a departure from Ms. Quinn’s normal laugh out loud hilarious rom-coms her name has become synonymous with; that’s not to say it didn’t have moments of hilarity, but it was also filled with emotion and a whole lot of heart.

The last two years have been difficult for Griffin as he’s mourned his wife gone way too soon and buried himself in work both at his family’s business and as a volunteer fire fighter, and town activities while refusing to consider dating despite his well meaning family urging him to do so. It doesn’t help that he has no intentions of ever submitting another woman to the New Orleans curse, but when he rescues a woman while on a call something about her calls to him, he just doesn’t plan to answer.

After recovering from a horrific auto accident, Ren planned to reset her life by moving cross country to get away from her helicopter parents and to give small town living a try. She never intended to make a grand entrance into Port Snow, Maine or to suddenly be famous for being the new girl in town.

I loved everything about this book; the setting was perfect and Ms. Quinn’s description of the town painted a lovely backdrop for this series to take place. I loved the push and pull between Ren and Griffin and the undeniable chemistry between them even though he fought long and hard to ignore it. Griffin’s family was a hoot and not only did I enjoy watching them push Griffin out of his misery, but the way they enveloped Ren into their fold was endearing.

If you enjoy sweet, slow burn, small town, family based romances then look no further than Meghan Quinn’s That Second Chance because it is absolutely perfect and a joy to read!

That Second Chance was a pleasant surprise. I can honestly say that I smiled the entire time I read this book. Griffin is one of four brothers who were supposedly cursed one night by a fortune teller. Three days later, Griffin's wife died suddenly. Believing the curse is real, he has not wanted to try to love again. Enter Ren. She is looking for a second chance at life after nearly dying in a car accident. She hopes to find it in a smal Maine town. The two of them were made for each other, right?

This was such a sweet and slow burn love story. I loved that they became friends first before going any further. They just clicked so well. Their banter was fun and their attraction was strong. I was rooting for them from the first time Griffin rescued Ren from the tree. Griffin was adorably pig-headed and I wanted to shake him several times.

One of the charms of this book was the cast of characters who live in the small town. I especially loved Griffin's brothers and sister. Their group text messages were hilarious. You could feel the love among the siblings from the beginning. I can't wait to read the brothers' stories. I highly recommend this one.

The romance was cute, but I was very uncomfortable with the “curse” placed on the boys and the racist stereotypes with the fortune teller.

My heart ached for everything Griffin has to go through as he's trying to escape his sorrows. He meets his perfect match in Ren, who is strong and lives every moments to its fullest. I adore the town and its residents, they add a great layer to the story. It's a beautiful story with the funny banter I've come to expect from this author.

I really wanted to love this book, but there were some parts that really bugged me from the beginning on and that took away a lot of my enjoyment. Let’s just say I wasn’t the biggest fan of the hero. I’m pretty sure it’s a case of “it’s not the book, it’s me“ and other people will really like “That Second Chance“ though.

Oh gosh, my heart ached as I read this book, feeling each painful, bittersweet moment that Griffin Knightly goes through. Tragedy follows this man like a shadow. But enter Ren Winters, who's been to hell and back and has become stronger for it, determined to love and live life to its fullest. She comes into his life like a whirlwind and shakes him to the core. Everything he's been avoiding for the past 2 years is not forcing him to acknowledge that there is more to love for than accepting that he's cursed.

I absolutely loved this small town romance! The setup was amazing and the characters are perfection!
I want books for all the brothers! It’s an utterly charming read.

Here’s what I loved:
Griffin and Ren are perfect for one another. She’s new in town. He wants to escape the sorrow of his past. They truly bring out the best in each and help one another get past obstacles blocking their path to love. I was completely engrossed in their story from beginning to end.

The small town feel is almost like a secondary character. I loved getting to know the town and residents through Ren. The setting and execution are stunning.

And speaking of secondary characters, these were the best yet! I want all the books!!

Ren never really expected an angel to descend from the heavens to carry her to safety. Griffin took one look at Ren and was struck with the overwhelming need to protect her and feel something he hadn’t felt for years. Trying to overcome the curse that had been placed on him and his brothers was a daily battle. He kept his days filled with tending his families shop and volunteering for anything to help his community. Trying to keep his distance from Ren was more difficult than he thought it would be and Ren was ready to take their friendship to the next level. Absolutely love anything Meghan writes and this series is amazing and draws you in one word at a time.

This is the first book I've read by Meghan Quinn but it won't be my last.  Not sure how I've missed her many books along the way but I will be back for more and not only in this series.  Reminiscent to me of Marie Force's books set in Vermont with a tight knit family, small town atmosphere and even a moose.

<a href="https://amzn.to/2PTbLrK"><em>That Second Chance</em></a> is Griffin and Ren's story.  The prologue set the stage of what was to come as they meet on her first day in Port Snow when a moose runs her off the road and into a ditch.  Griffin is a volunteer firefighter and he's the first to reach her at the scene.  There were some laugh out loud moments as he tries to rescue her but she's in shock and acting like a lunatic.  We find out her reasons for moving from California to Maine and about her parents too.  We also learn about Griffin and his brothers and a curse put on them by a palm reader in New Orleans two years ago when they were there celebrating his brother, Brig's, twenty-first birthday.  Griffin and his family are tight knit and it was fun seeing all their interactions including those with his sister and his parents.

Ren and Griffin become best friends who turn into a lot more. He's actually her first friend in town.  There are a lot of laugh out moments especially with the suicidal moose as Ren calls it.  There are serious moments as well as we learn about Griffin's past and deceased wife and how he's stopped living and all of Ren's accidents - none of them her fault.  Ren seems to get him and there is serious chemistry.  One minute he's acting on it and the next he's backing off.  The one step forward and two back was heartbreaking especially when everyone in his family wants him to move on with his life and especially find love again.  There are a lot of friends and family, small town gossip, businesses, a community, get togethers, hot and steamy moments, loving and ultimately love.

The story flowed smoothly and the characters had a lot of depth to them.  It was nice to get to know them a little at a time and I loved how they all looked out for Ren. The descriptions of the scenery and especially the ocean and its sounds made feel like I was there.  There was some closure and a happily ever after in the offing thanks to the epilogue but the book ended too abruptly for me.  I turned the page and found acknowledgments when I thought there was more story to tell.  Since there are three other brothers I can't wait to read each of their stories.  Next up is <a href="https://amzn.to/2H5obtQ"><em>That Forever Girl</em></a>, the second book in the Getting Lucky series.  It's Rogan's story and I can't wait to read more since there were hints about it at the end of this book.

I love everything about this book!! From the sweet romance between Ren beautiful and peaceful depiction of the quaint coastal Maine town which is the setting for the book. Meghan Quinn is a masterful storyteller and with every word she and Griffin, to the witty banter between Griffin and his brothers, to the has written, you are invited into a magical story of love, hope and second chances.

Griffin and his brothers are convinced that the curse cast upon them by the New Orleans palm reader has brought them bad luck in the dating world. He was content with being alone and didn’t think he would meet someone who could change his mind. As a volunteer fireman he is often involved in dangerous situations and when a crazy moose caused a car accident, he was there to save the day. He rescued the beautiful Ren and bravely carried her to safety. Even though they had an instant attraction, Griffin wasn’t sure he could take a chance on a relationship with Ren because he was afraid something bad would happen to her.

Ren felt the same way about Griffin and wanted to get to know him better, but he seemed to want to keep her in the friend zone. She sensed he was interested in her too, so she decided to make the first move. What could possibly happen? Moving to Maine was the beginning of the next chapter in her life, and she hoped Griffin was on the same page.

Now.. it took me AGES to finish this book. Not cause I didn’t love it, but because I knew that the second I got hooked into another series of brothers, I would not want to put it down and I’d want to binge read the whole of the series. And even though I so don’t have the time for that right now, you best believe that I’m going to binge read these brothers the second I get a chance cause these Knightley brothers? They so have the ability to capture you in their hands and not let go no matter how much you may want to.

This story was a bit different in the sense that while it was a romance story, it had a tiny bit of New Orleans black magic mixed into it. After the four Knightley brothers of Maine visit the colorful town of NOLA, they come upon a palm reader who “curses” them against love. Throw in a seemingly unexpected death and our main character Griffin is set on his belief that he is cursed so when Ren our female lead comes crashing in (Literally mind you), Griffin tries to go above and beyond to push her and love away. Thankfully, he is unsuccessful and this story ends in a swoony HEA that leaves us with a tiny glimpse of the second book that is enough of a teaser to leave me personally wanting for more.

I love a small town romance and second chance love stories are my jam. I really enjoyed this one, loved the push and pull. Thr writing was on point and the characters were immediately captivating. A solid read.
