The Knightly brothers were cursed after they made fun of a palm reader while on a trip to New Orleans. After that, Griffin’s wife died of an unexpected heart attack and everyone in their small town steers clear of the brothers as they believe the curse will kill any woman that is with them. Griffin believes that to his core more than most so he’s never been with anyone since. Until Ren barrels into town.

After she was in a bad car accident in California she needs space from her overprotective parents and decides to take a teaching position in the small town of Port Snow. On her way into town she has another car accident and Griffin rescues her. But as much as the attraction pulls them together, his fear of the curse keeps them apart.

If you’re looking for a perfect laid back and romantic summer read, this will be perfect for you. There’s a lot of family love and small town charm to this book. I especially really loved the interactions between the Knightly brothers. Even if the conflict of the curse was totally far fetched to me, it still made for a cute story. Griffin is just a tad grumpy and serious and I always had a soft spot in my heart for those kinds of heroes.

While I probably wanted a little more conflict, this slow burn romance was still an entertaining read. I am looking forward to reading more about the Knightly brothers because I did come to care for each one of them. They are all so different, I know all their books will be fun and interesting.

This book! It’s everything! If I could stay in Port Snow a while longer I so would!!! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

I’m fairly new to Meghan Quinn’s books, having only read a couple of them, but my goal is to read them all! Her characters are witty and so much fun!

Ren and Griffin gave me all the feels! Relatable. Funny. Damaged. And so much stronger together!

Well done Ms. Quinn! ❤

I liked That Second Chance. Griifin and Ren were a fun couple. Their issues light on the angst. The back and forth was easy going and filled with flirtatious moments. Which helped balance out the whole push and pull.

The pacing was what got me. It would move fast and then slow down. During the slow moments I would find myself skimming.

I liked that even in the end the conflicts were solved without to much drama. Ren easily forgave Griff's stupidity (although, I get why he thought he had to run as far as possible).

One thing I must point out, this isn't your typical second chance type read. These two did not know each other prior to their first meeting. It is however a second chance at love for Griffin, whose wife died. I don't consider this a spoiler as you learn about it within the first several pages.

Overall, I enjoyed it and look forward to Reid, Roman, and Brig's books. I have a feeling Roman's book will be a bit more intense. I'd recommend of you are looking for a light, entertaining read.

Whenever I read a Meghan Quinn book, I know she's going to give me the feels. THAT SECOND CHANCE was a great slow burn. I loved the awkward and sweet banter between Griffin and Ren. The Knightly Brothers (Griffin, Rogan, Brig, and Reid) are definitely going to be some top book boyfriends in many a literary heart. The dynamics between the brothers make for some great humor and fun. The brotherly love reminds me of Penny Reid's Winston Brothers Series.
I enjoyed that the level of angst wasn't too heavy but I got to have my heartstrings tugged just enough.

Griffin and his brother run into some bad luck while in New Orleans and for Griffin he believes this still to be true. So when Ren stumbles into Griffin's life he's slow to allow him any happiness.

I loved the Knightly brothers and Port Snow, Maine. With its quirky residents and nosey neighbors.

I loved how Ren & Griffin met and how Ren started to fit into this small town and with the Knightleys. I loved the shenanigans of the brothers and his parents. All characters were great and I can't wait for more from this series and this small town.

‘It might have been easier to never have known Griffin the way I do now; each time he pushes me away, my heart splinters.’

This was a very promising start to this new series. This book had a little bit from everything I like in a story, it has funny and sexy moments , it is about family and the romance was fantastic!Griffin and Ren are fantastic together, their attraction palpable. Ren is fun to read about and I loved getting to know Griffin through his friends and family.

This is the first book I've read by Meghan Quinn, and the story brought a good balance of humor, romance, angsty feelings and a fun loving family I look forward to reading about. This first title features Griffin Knightly, the eldest of 4 single brothers who were "cursed" by a palm reader several years ago during a drunken 21st birthday celebration for the youngest brother, Brig. Although the brothers are hesitant to believe in the black magic, all have been unlucky in love, and our Hero, Griffin, most tragically. They all live in a small, cute tourist town in Maine, called Port Snow, where Griffin and his older sister run their family's successful bakery and sweets' shop. Our heroine, Ren Winters, is in the process of moving to Port Snow when she encounters a moose which literally runs her off the road, introducing her to volunteer firefighter, Griffin, when he comes to her rescue.
The story is told from a dual point of view so the reader is privy to the attraction between these two, but each reluctant to taking that first step, for different reasons. I thought the author did a good job pacing how their friendship eventually grew into a relationship. The only reservation I had was how Griffin "overcame" his fear. Without revealing any spoilers, for a small town, there should have been plenty of opportunities for Griffin to uncover the truth behind his feelings, but then, our Hero might not have been available to meet the adorable Ren!

Each brother we meet, Rogan, Reid and the fun-loving Brig, seem to have ghosts/skeletons in their closet preventing them from finding their HEA. It looks like we might find out Rogan's story next, and I look forward to uncovering why he's so broody!

That Second Chance is a great start to the Getting Lucky series. Griffin Knightly and his brothers have been unlucky in the romance department every since a curse was put upon them by a palm reader. No woman in their small town in Maine wants anything to do with them. Until Ren, the new girl who comes crashing (literally) into town and Griffin’s life. Ren is funny, quirky and adorable as can be. Griffin has grown a hard heart when it comes to love however, as much as he thinks he’s immune to her charm, he quickly finds that Ren is simply irresistible.

I love a good second chance at love story and That Second Chance was everything and more. The plot was engaging and consistent with relatable characters. I couldn’t get enough of Griffin and Ren as they were lovely and delightful with amazing chemistry. Their witty banter and hilarious interactions were quite entertaining. I also loved the camaraderie that the Knightly brothers had. Rogan, Reid and Brig were hilarious secondary characters and I’m looking forward to reading their books.

That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn
Book #1: Getting Lucky Series
Source: Netgalley and Montlake Romance
Rating: 5/5 stars

Griffin never expected one night of stupid with his brothers to cause and endless supply of awful! In the blink of an eye, Griffin and his brothers went from hot, eligible men in a small town to hot, totally ineligible men in a small town thanks to a lot of alcohol and a curse!

A mother effing curse?? Are you kidding me??

As far as Griffin is concerned, and despite what everyone tells him, the curse is very much alive and kicking and has already wreaked havoc on his personal life. With nothing left to do but accept his fate, Griffin has resigned himself to a life alone with nothing but his family’s business and a lot of volunteer work to occupy his time.

Enter stage left, the suicidal moose . . . . .

Ren Winters quite literally comes screaming into Port Snow, Maine. Intent on starting a brand-new life in a brand-new town, Ren had no intention of wrecking her way into town and becoming the subject of local gossip. Would a week to get settled in have been too much to ask? Within hours of her arrival, Ren is, in fact, the subject of all local gossip and not just because of her spectacular entrance. What has the local busy bodies truly fired up is the interest Griffin seems to be showing to the new girl.

The whole town knows of Griffin’s tragic past and his alleged curse so showing interest in any woman is big deal! As the days go by, it seems Griffin and Ren are forever crossing paths or being thrown together due to circumstances beyond their control. Ren knows nothing of Griffin’s past, but she does know she likes him a lot and values his friendship. What she can’t wrap her head around are the crazy mixed signals. One minute Griffin is running extremely hot and the next he’s pulling away from Ren and their friendship. The only thing Ren knows for sure, she wants Griffin in her life and if that means only being friends then that’ll just have to (sadly) do.

Enter stage right, a bunch of weird and coincidental circumstances . . . .

Between the suicidal moose, an over-eager family (Griffin’s), a butt load of volunteer work/committees, and the universe’s sense of humor, Griffin and Ren have a truly terrible and often comedic time of forming any sort of relationship beyond friendship. While there are certainly things in their favor, there are also obstacles, insecurities, and a misguided belief in the supernatural. From start to finish, it is one issue after the next mixed with a ton of gossip, great food, some tremendously nosy brothers, and a little bit of love and understanding. It takes effort to get to an HEA and Griffin and Ren certainly pay their dues before all is said and done.

The Bottom Line: WOW!! Talk about knocking it out of the park on the first swing!! That Second Chance is absolutely everything I LOVE in books: a broad mix of wonderfully developed and likeable characters, excellent dialogue loaded with wit, humor, and sarcasm, a beautiful setting/location with excellent descriptions, and a plot that is both interesting and engaging. There is nothing about this book that in any way disappointed or let me down and that is what I have come to expect from Meghan Quinn. Her writing style, her sense of humor, her naughty bits, and particularly her characters and dialogue very much appeal to me. What most excited me about this book? Griffin has brothers so there are several more books to come in this awesome series!!

I finished it only because Netgalley allowed me to read it and I want to increase my account’s read/reviews.
I didn’t connect with the characters. Familiar, frequently used storyline. So no surprise too predictable which hampers the reading experience. Maybe next time.

Enoyable read. This sported the typical craziness from this author but it still had an element to it that I loved. Great story and read

A sweet and heartwarming story that just makes you feel so good, with appealing and likeable characters.
Ren is a delightful character, full of quirks and strength. A car accident made her think about what she wants in life and her relocation to a small town in picturesque Maine is a refreshing change. She is ready to start a new chapter in her life and to face her fears. Griffin is a beautiful soul, trying to figure out how to move on after his wife's death. I loved his strength that hid a layer of vulnerability. His outgoing personality was irresistible. He is a volunteer firefighter and a car stuck between two trees is the start of a friendship that blossoms into much more.
Griffin can count on his matchmaking family to give them a little encouragement. I loved seeing their relationship blooming and growing, into a mature, strong and long lasting partnership that is based on true love and understanding, as they both come to terms with their feelings and emotions.
This book was a page turner for me and I'm definitely interested in the rest of the Knightly siblings’ stories.

4.5 stars!

I haven't read any of this author's books, but I have quite a few of them on my Kindle, so I'm not sure why this is my first read from her lol! I then received an email from the publisher with this book in it! I was attracted to the cover and the synopsis sounded interesting, so I decided to review it for the blog tour! After reading this book, I can say that I really enjoyed it! The plot developed at the perfect pace and it kept me intrigued and wanting to find out what was going to happen next! There wasn't any action or suspense in the plot, which was a little disappointing, but there was plenty of romance in the plot and the romance was definitely enough! I loved the way the romance developed and that it wasn't instant love too because this wouldn't have worked for the characters! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Griffin was the main male character, and in this book he had lost someone close to him and this still had a big impact on him! This meant that I could understand why he was reluctant to get into a relationship with his love interest! It was easy to see that he had deep feelings for her though! I loved that Griffin opened up more as this book progressed and he was such a sweet guy! Griffin also worked hard and he had a close relationship with his family, which I loved! Ren was the main female character and love interest of Griffin! Ren had been through a scary situation and she then had a few close calls in this book! This did make me feel for her because it made her jumpy and scared in this book, especially at the beginning! Ren was also a breath of fresh air in this book and I connect with her a lot! She changed things a lot for Griffin too and made him want to be in a relationship again! Ren was always there for him and helped him a lot too! I loved that this book was written from both Griffin and Ren's point of views! I wasn't sure if it was going to be because the synopsis made it sound like this book was only going to be written from the male character's point of view, so I'm really happy that it was written from dual point of view! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot, especially as Griffin and Ren were dealing with their own situations! It helped me connect more with Griffin and Ren and understand them more too! I now can't wait to read the next book in this series! I haven't read the synopsis for it yet, but I'm assuming that it's going to focus on one of Griffin's brothers because the ending of this book was left at the perfect place and was wrapped up! I can't wait to read the next book and I'm not sure when it releases, but I'll definitely be reading it once it does! I can't wait to check out more of this author's books too! The cover for this book is also absolutely perfect for it! I love it a lot and it suits the feel of the book! It would definitely draw me to the book and the cover model is the perfect Griffin too! Big thank you to Meghan, Montlake Romance, and Netgalley for an ARC of That Second Chance!

Griffin Knightly is in New Orleans celebrating his youngest brother’s 21st with his other two brothers when they manage to get on the wrong side of a fortune teller who curses them telling them they will be unlucky in love. They laugh it off despite the spooky goings on but the laughter dries up once they get home. Seems like that curse follows them all the way home to the sleepy costal resort of Port Snow. Everyone is hoping the new Algebra teacher, Ren, will be the one to break the curse but Griffin is fighting it all the way. Enjoyable, fun read. Didn’t turn out as I expected from reading the prologue. Looking forward the rest of the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I always get super excited when I see Meghan has a new book out and she has never yet disappointed me. Her writing style always captivates me with her humour and emotions. With her writng she alwasy delivers the perfect blend of humour mixed with raw emotion and lots of chemistry.

In this book set in a small town in Maine, we are introduced to the four Knightly brothers for us to fall in love with. What intrigues me about the Knightly's is that they believe that have been cursed by a fortune teller in NOLA, I have a feeling their tales will be highly entertaining. This book is the oldest brother Griffin's tale and i am excited and hopeful to read more from this family.

Ren Winters is seeking a new life after surving a crash on an LA freeway and needs to get wawy from her over-protective hovering mother, When she accepts a new job teaching in a small town in Maine she never excepted to end up in the arms of a hunky volunteer fireman when she ends up in a moose v car meeting,

Don't want to give the plot away with my review as you need to experience this yourself and enjoy every word.

Absolutely loved this story from start to finish. It was swoon worthy plus some great giggles. Quinn has a great fluidity to her writing and great character build!

Absolutely brilliant. I devoured this latest story from Meghan Quinn. I fell in love with the characters and the entire small-town of Port Snow.

Ren has moved to a new small town. She's got a job at the local school and making a fresh-start for herself, proving to herself (and her Mum) that she really is capable of being independent and looking after herself. That is until she arrives in the town, encountering an issue with a suicidal moose and finding herself lodged between two trees stuck inside her car!! Then getting rescued by Griffin Kinghtly.

Griffin... what can I say about Griffin. The perfect swoony hero for this story... but one who is struggling following a tragic past. With the events that led up to his past tragedies, he is struggling to move on with his life, especially where love & romance is concerned.

Griffin has huge fears, but can the attraction that Ren and Griffin have for one another be strong enough to conquer them? The chemistry and sparks in this book are amazing, and I just loved how the story developed.

This entire story is sexy, funny, filled with humour, passion and an amazing storyline. A slow-burn, friends to lovers, small-town romance. It really does have it all! What's not to love?!

I cannot wait for the rest of this series and the rest of the Knightly brothers!

Meghan Quinn is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her writing style is full of fun and humor. That Second Chance is a perfect example of why I love her writing so much. The "curse" had the Knightly brothers undatable in their town until Ren gave Griffin a chance. Both characters had tragedies that they needed to work through, but getting together helped them heal. I found myself unable to put this story down and really loved it. I can't wait for the next story in this series and look forward to many more books from Meghan Quinn.

Wow, to say I loved The Second Chance book 1 in Meghan Quinn's new series would be an understatement. This book has it all, romance, heartache, romance (dancing in the middle of the street I about died) and humor. I absolutely fell in love with Griffin, his family and of course Ren.

Ren is looking for a change and nothing says change like moving across the country, to small town Port Snow Maine and what a small town it is. It has everything that comes with a small town including the gossip and the very hot Knightly brothers, Griffin specifically. Ren is try to break through the walls Griffin has up and just when she finally does something happens and he shuts down again, can she convince the sexy firefighter, fudge shop owner that he is not cursed?

Griffin has suffered unimaginable heartbreak at a time when it's not expected, he knows that the curse he and his brothers got in New Orleans is true, he has lived it. Now the beautiful Ren storms into town and he knows that he needs to stay away from here no matter what. The problem is when he starts to spend more time with her the harder it is I keep his feelings at bay.

Ren is a feisty women who just wants to forge her own path and Griffin a family guy is content on being alone. Neither where looking for love but once they do, Ms Quinntakes her readers on a great ride. The writing is tight with great dialogue between all the characters. The secondary characters are great especially the other 3 Knightly brothers whose books I can't wait for.
