This book checked so many of my boxes.
☑Quaint Small Town
☑Second Chance Love
☑Four Hot Brothers
☑Sassy Heroine
☑A Pinch of Angst

This was a very sweet, fast read. This is the story of Griffin and Ren. I loved all of the characters especially the Knightly brothers, they added so much to the story. Mehgan painted such a whimsical and ideal town of Port Snow, Maine, that I want to live there!

This is a second chance at love story. When the four Knightley brothers are celebrating their youngest brothers birthday in New Orleans, they drunkenly stumble onto and break the table of a fortune teller. They have their palms read and are less than receptive to the fortune teller and this cause her to place a "curse" on the brothers and their love life. After this, a tragic event happens to Griffin to cause him to believe the curse is real. The very small town hears of this, and then the most eligible bachelors of Port Snow become untouchable & undateable.

Ren who has left her life in California, accepting a job in the small town of Port Snow, makes a dramatic entrance into town and this is how she meets Griffin. They have an undeniable chemistry and this is where the story really gets interesting.

I really enjoyed this book and would strongly recommend it! I am so glad this is the first to come and I can't wait for each of the brothers to have their own story.

Thank you so much to netgalley, Montlake & Meghan Quinn for this book.

That Second Chance is the first book in Meghan Quinn’s Getting Lucky series, which - presumably - will be about the four Knightly brothers of Port Snow, Maine, who went to New Orleans to celebrate the youngest brother turning 21, and in a drunken stupor earned the ire of a fortune teller. When they mocked her fortune-telling abilities, then broke her table, she put a curse on their love lives. This book is about oldest brother.

Griffin Knightly has a sister, and three younger brothers. He’s the responsible one, always working and always coordinating events for their small town on the coast of Maine. It’s at his volunteer job as a firefighter that he meets Ren Winters, who drove off the road after a moose ran in front of her car.

Ren, a California native, is the new algebra teach in town. And she’s looking for a new life away from her loving, but constantly meddling, parents. Wrecking her car is no fun, but hanging out with Griffin sure is!

But there’s the matter of that pesky curse, which keeps Griffin from making the moves on Ren. If only his family would mind their own business…

This was a cute, fun story. Some of the antics came off as a little slapstick humor, but for the most part it was good fun. Meghan Quinn is very capable of writing humorous, entertaining banter. Throw in the meddling Knightly family, nosy neighbors (and in a small town they are ALL your neighbors), and a charming town with its own quirks and character, and there’s lots to chuckle about during this book!

But there were a couple things which were a little “off” for me.

First, the death of a loved one is never a humorous situation. This book is definitely a comedy, which seems so incongruous with what Griffin experienced (the sudden death of his wife), and it never seemed to receive the gravity that type of situation deserves. Then Griffin refuses to have a relationship with Ren because of the silly curse. Okay, so I get that the curse is the "reason" why the brothers haven’t found love. But not wanting to endure the loss of another person you love is a much more compelling story. For me, this story would have worked better if it was more serious and less silly.

The next “off” thing was Ren and her parents. She’s 28...far past the age one would need to move to the other side of the country to get away from meddling. When she was explaining how much her parents hover, I was expecting her to be in her early 20s, not almost 30! It just seemed odd. Again, I get why they may have been a little overboard, but it sounds like they had always been like that.

But otherwise, there was a lot to like about this book and the characters. I love that the brothers aren’t playboys. They want to have meaningful relationships, they just don’t think they can have them. Because of the curse. I’m also a huge fan of the big, loving families that meddle and are all up in each other’s business. Disfunction makes for good drama, but sometimes it’s nice to read a story that’s light, fun, and uncomplicated.

So That Second Chance didn’t totally work for me. It was an enjoyable read, but ultimately not one that will “stick with me” if you know what I mean. However, I’m certainly interested in the rest of the series - especially the next one which is about Rogan and the girl he used to be engaged to! Second chance romances are TOTALLY my jam, so I can’t wait.

The beginning of a series that I will be following and looking forward to. That Second Chance bring all of the feelings to the surface and had me glued to the story from start to finish. Griffin and Ren are made for each other but his past is haunting him and she has some healing to do herself before they can work out the kinks and get together.

A great story from start to finish and so many wonderful new characters to get to know and love. I fell in love with the town and family and now I really wish the books for all of the brothers were out so I could just binge on these characters. Loved this one!

A quaint seaside town, four swoony heart brothers and one life altering vacation ....BAM ...new addicting reading from Meghan!

Flirty fun, witty and it begins with a suicidal moose....

I love this! Every single second and I’m completely vested in the lives of these brothers and need each one of their stories but lets not get ahead of ourselves..this is Griffin and Ren’s tale.

You will want to visit Port Snow and claim one of these cursed brothers for yourself. I can’t wait to discover which brother I want to keep for myself.

inspiring and abound with rebuilding. Moving on and healing with some laughs sprinkled in and a ton of heart this needs to be your next binge read!

Right from the start, I was hooked!

Okay, so there was the whole awkward trip to New Orleans for his brother's birthday, and the making enemies not friends with the palm reader, and picking up a BROKEN LOVE curse as a souvenir...but still, HOOKED! Seriously, the brothers have HEARTS OF GOLD, and the fact that they are easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either. They have their hands in all the town business and businesses, but in a good way...they actually want to help make it a better place, improve upon the wonderfulness that already exists, and make it a place that everyone wants to call home. Seeing how the series will deal with the Knightly clan, the introductions to everyone was necessary, and really there are worse things than a town full of kind hearts and good looking guys! *smirk* Moving on....

Honestly, I really loved the characters, through and through! Griff was such a good guy, and seeing him do everything and anything to stay busy was heartwarming and breaking all at the same time, but if he was gonna keep his heart/feelings completely on lockdown, I couldn't fathom the potential for a future with Ren in any fashion. Don't worry folks, lockdown is not indefinite, but it does take some time to wear down! Speaking of Ren, she wears here heart on her sleeve. She's strong, heck stronger than most think, but she wants to belong, to feel needed, to spread her proverbial wings and fly (chalk that up to a helicopter mom that means well) and unrequited love the levels of which she is experiencing (whether she'll readily admit it or not) are not exactly on this side of the welcoming committee. Good think she's not a quitter...good thing for BOTH of them...

Really and truly, I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. True, it had its steamy parts, and a bit of language scattered here and there (hence I'm saying ADULTS ONLY), but it was SO GOOD! I stand by my initial "claim" of Griffin for myself....boneheaded tendencies and all! Seriously the Knightly brothers are quite the package deal and despite Griff's "issues", he's still a great guy with a heart of gold, totally deserving of the fabulousness that is Ren! To summarize, I ♡ this book!

So many things I liked about this story.

The premise is kind of different.
A love curse after a night of drinking.....

Love the small town feel of this story. While, that trope is not something I normally gravitate to, it had me in complete stitches.... the rumor mill, the way the story kept changing through the grapevine... it is hilarious.

I loved the brothers' relationship with each other. And how distinct each of their personalities are.

It was also so awesome to see the return of some other MQ characters.

And Griffin and Ren were awesome together. Loved Ren and her zest for life and adventure... enjoyed how well-round that her character is and her ability to just speak her mind.
Griffin takes care of everyone and everything at the expense of his own happiness.

Can't wait for more!!! <3

It’s no secret that I love Meghan’s work and her writing style. She can delivery a great drama and make you read out loud with her rom-coms. For me this book is the middle ground between the two genres. A delicious small town romance, filled with family and adventure. Griffin is the perfect closed of hero and Ren is a ray of sunshine in his life. With great chemistry and awesome characters, it’s the kind of feel good romance to read on a lazy afternoon. I greatly recommend it!

That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn is the first book in her Getting Lucky Series. Every book is about another couple and can be read as a standalone.
Griffin Knightly is the oldest of 4 brothers and believes they were cursed. Means never a relationship for the Knightly brothers, never love or a family of their own. He works in the family business, volunteers as firefighter, all in all he's a good guy.
Ren Winters is a young woman, new in town, highschool teacher and needs rescuing. Griffin is first respondser and their chemistry is sky high. But Griffin stubbornly refuses so see what's before his nose and in that nearly costs him his love and HEA.
That Second Chance is a sweet small town romance with a determined heroine, a hero who fights tooth and nail his attraction to her and a great storyline. 4,5 Stars.

My Review (ARC provided)
Five stars!

Once again Meghan gets a five-star review!! I have been wondering, waiting and hoping we get the Knightly brothers. We get a glimpse of them in Two Wedding Crashers and ever since I finished that book I've wanted to know the story behind these small town brothers. Well, we get our first story about the oldest brother Griffin. It is one hell of a story that pulls at your heartstrings and has you rooting for him to come out of his shell and live.

Ren comes into town like a freight train and knocks Griffin off his feet, but he is too stubborn and too broken to admit it. They form this bond and friendship that soon as them both guessing what the others feeling s are.

This is a slow burn that has you on the edge of your seat wishing that the two would finally make that final move to solidify their relationship.

I absolutely loved the way this book played out. I love Meghan's humor, and I love love how she brings out all your emotions. So as I said I give this book another five stars and I will be anxiously awaiting another Knightly brother.

That Second Chance is the first book I have read by this author and it won't be the last. Initially, I thought perhaps the whole "curse" was going to be a bit too over the top for me and while it was certainly quirky, it worked and I enjoyed this story immensely.

This story was filled with great character development, an entertaining plot and lots of emotions ranging from not wanting to get hurt again (or hurt someone) to fun antics from Grif's siblings. Very enjoyable story that I highly recommend. I cannot wait to read more about the Knightly brothers.

So i obviously had high hopes for this book, and needless to say i was NOT let down.
This is a slow-burn, second chance romance.
Meghan has an amazing way to make every character relatable and amazing. That doesn't change with this book either.

5/5 Sexy Swoony Stars THAT SECOND CHANCE will be at the top of everyone’s 2019 List of Favorite Romantic Comedies. Meghan Quinn has done it again.

A Curse Can’t Hold Back Love for the Hot and Handsome Griffin Knightly and his Ren.

A love letter to her fans, Quinn sets up a fantastic new series with a slow burn and tender courtship set in the beautiful fictional town of Port Snow. LOVE THIS STORY! This second chance standalone is a must read all of Quinn’s fans and if she’s new to you, this is a brilliant place to start.

A drunken celebratory night between brothers opens to a new universe, in the sleepy Maine town of Port Snow, where every heartache, every secret, and every meal is shared with family and neighbors. I want to know every detail, so much more of every character, and I can’t wait for more books.

Sexy firefighter, volunteer, and heartbroken Griffin meets the pretty damn fearless Ren, a skittish school teacher who’s a new comer to town. Their meeting is such a surprise, and it’s told with such great humor and hell yes ROMANCE. GAH! I couldn’t put this book down. I LOVED IT! And the sexy times, let’s not forget about those. This is a Quinn romance after all.

A small note about the culinary subplot. I cannot get enough of the Knightly fudge and those brothers. Port Snow is a special place, where the auto body shop hots wine and cheese mixers. :) And the Knightly Brothers' complete devotion to their small Maine town. I will definitely reread this charming story.

If you want a loving sweet, adult contemporary romance with real people sorting through life’s complexities and falling for each other in the process, paired with an idyllic setting, THAT SECOND CHANCE IS a delicious, fun family story.

4 1/2 Cursed Stars!

One drunken night, Griffin and his brothers have a love curse put on them, but they just laugh it off ... that is until Griffin's young wife dies of a heart attack. Two years later, all four of the Knightly brothers have had no luck in love. But then Ren literally crashes into Griffin's life and he starts feeling things that he hasn't felt since his wife died. Ren wants a new start ... away from her helicopter parents. While driving into her new town, Port Snow, a moose crosses her path and she ends up missing the moose, but wrecking her car. And she drools over the hunky fireman that saves her ... Griffin. He ends up becoming her life line.

This book just made me smile ... all the way through it! There are also a lot of laugh out loud moments and some swoon worthy romance. I just loved Ren ... she was trying to be independent but has the worst luck. And Griffin and his brothers ... WOW who wouldn`t fall in love with them. I come from a small town and it's soooo true that everyone knows everyone else's business and Ms. Quinn sure portrayed that perfectly! I can't wait for the next book ... this is gonna be a great series!

This was a cute read. I did enjoy the story and found the characters likable. Griffin’s and Ren’s romance was sweet. I liked how they gravitated towards each other and their time spent together was good. The small town atmosphere and the bond of the Knightly family was pleasant. I felt like I was in Maine with them and experiencing it first hand. I really loved Griffin’s siblings they were fun and great and I am interested in the rest of the brothers and their stories. Overall, a good read that I surprisedly enjoyed.

As with every other Meghan Quinn book, I was immediately sucked in and couldn't stop reading. I mean, it definitely helped that the first scene took place in one of my favorite places to visit, New Orleans, and that was such a great start to the story! Now it took me a bit to remember that we'd met these Knightly brothers back in the second book I read by Meghan Quinn, Two Wedding Crashers, with my favorite couple from that series, Rylee and Beck. But I love that Quinn is taking us back to meet some of the other characters we enjoyed from another one of her series. I always love when authors do that. And to know that this is going to be a series now makes me extremely happy, because I really am excited to see what happens to all of the Knightly brothers, because really, it's impossible to not fall in love with all of them. So much so, that I'd probably have been okay at first if our heroine, Ren, fell for one of the other brothers if Griffin hadn't ever come around and given this a chance. Another thing I love is the setting, I want to live in a little town like Port Snow. As a former teacher, and current school librarian, I love the idea of a town actually being the village to help raise the children, help keep them in line and good citizens.

We had all of what you'd expect from Meghan Quinn book, the steam, wit, and the feelings. There was even one line early into the story that made me almost spit my food out when I read it as I laughed! It was a page-turner, I hated when my body was telling me I had to go to sleep, not letting me keep my eyes open when all I wanted to do was finish this last night. But when the dogs woke me up at their usual early morning time to go out and get their breakfast, as soon as I was back in bed, I picked this back up and finished it.

Oh yeah, prepare to crave so many sweet things as you read this. You see the Knightly family runs a shop that sells yummy confections like fudge. And lots of different flavors of fudge. And then there are all the different restaurants and even a food truck in this Northeastern area of the US, I might need some crab cakes soon. And how could I forget the Moose? What a perfect "meet-cute" in all its craziness.

grew up in one and although I live in a bigger city now, it still has a small town feel that I still love. Meghan Quinn is a one-click author for me- her brand of humor is spot-on and I adore her unique plots quirky characters. Ren and Griffin had such great chemistry and I liked that they built a friendship before a relationship started. Ren was spunky and sweet and Griffin had me swooning as all Quinn heroes do. I come from a super small family myself (and I'm an only child) so it's always so fun to read about big, wacky, meddling families like the Knightlys. I am super excited about these Knightly brothers- I will be anxiously awaiting books for Rogan, Reid and Brig. It was also super fun to see characters we met in the Dating By Numbers series!

That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn drew me in from the first page and held my interest until the last page.

The writing is beautifully done, the plot well paced and the storyline brought out all the feels.
I loved watching Griffin and Ren come together and get their second chance at love. They had a strong connection and I found them to be perfect for each other.

Overall, That Second Chance is a beautiful start to the Getting Lucky Series and I highly recommend it.
