“Were you being romantic?” I look over my shoulder.
“I was being romantic as shit.”

Ren Winters didn’t know that the day a moose stepped in front of her car, it would put her in the path of Griffin Knightly, a guarded man, who had suffered a life-changing tragedy, and just how he would change her life. We didn’t know how much we would fall in love with Port Snow, the Knightly’s, Ren and all the characters in this charmingly engaging and swoony story!

We adore Meghan Quinn’s stories and her loveable and relatable characters. After reading That Second Chance, we’re now desperately looking forward to hearing about the other Knightly brothers love stories in her new Getting Lucky Series.

‘It might have been easier to never have known Griffin the way I do now; each time he pushes me away, my heart splinters.’

Meghan Quinn delivered that small-town community feel to perfection. So much so, we want to pack a bag and head off to Port Snow to experience the hospitality of this quirky small town which was like another character in this sweet story. Meghan Quinn captured it all beautifully. We could smell the sea air, taste the pastries and fudge in the Lobster Landing. Our mouths were watering!

The prologue takes us two years previously, when, on a boozy night out in New Orleans to celebrate their younger brother, Brig’s twenty-first birthday they upset a palm reader, who places a curse on the Knightly boys, affecting their love life.

‘All I’m asking for is one moment, this one instance, when I can forget about the past, forget about the curse, and live the life I wish I could have.’

For Griffin, the curse goes from a laugh to seriousness, when tragedy strikes and Griffin, as a result, he becomes very closed off promising never to give his heart again. Never allowing himself to feel.

Griffin was a beautiful man. Dependable, giving and so proud of his town, and his contribution to the upkeep of the pretty little Port Snow. The Knightly clan, Mum, Dad, Rogan, Reid, Brig, Jen and Griffin are born and bred whereas Ren Winters is escaping her overprotective mother, and starting a new life as the Algebra teacher in the town. That Second Chance could refer to both Griffin and Ren.

Sparks fly between the quirky, straight shooting, sweet Ren and Griffin, and for every step forward he takes, the curse remains steadfastly in the back of his mind, making him afraid to take that leap, but Ren is having none of it.

‘She’s fun. She’s beautiful. She’s everything I would look for in a woman. And everything I should stay away from.’

There was so much to love about this slow burn and endearing love story. From the meddling supportive Knightly family, the picturesque town brought so perfectly to life, the amusing town gossip, and not to mention the little connection to Two Wedding Crashers! We squealed when we read that!!

“Griffin, I hate seeing you so alone, it hurts my heart.”
Taking a deep breath, I plaster on a fake smile. “I’m not alone, I have you fools.”

An adorable setting, likeable characters, charming, witty, sweet and emotional storytelling. Another winner from Meghan Quinn! Bring on the next book…Oh boy, we’re looking forward to his story!

Simply amazing!! There are no ends to the talents of Meghan Quinn and her words.

A perfect, small-town romance with heart, soul and a little magic!!

Maine has never been so appealing - I want to dance in the street, eat fudge looking out over the water, and even get up at 5am to help make the place look great for tourists. How I wish Port Snow was real.

In short, I want to live there. Save a Knightly brother for me, Meghan!!

Also LOVED "seeing" Beck and Rylee again <3

Can I move to Port Snow? I want to live there! I want to see Griffin and all his hot brothers and be friends with Ren and Rylee!

There is so much that I loved about this book! Starting with widower Griffin and the fact that he believes he’s cursed to never love. My heart broke for him! He’s so distraught over his wife’s death, and sure that it’s his fault and he doesn’t deserve to be happy.

Then one day, Ren crashes into a tree — literally — and turns his life upside down. For the first time in two years,,Griffin feels like he can breathe again, and it’s all thanks to the spunky newcomer who knows nothing of the curse on the brothers. But will Griffin allow himself to love and be loved again?

From the meet-cute to the zany interactions with Griffin’s family, this book was adorable. The dancing in the street was one of the most romantic scenes I think I’ve ever read by Meghan Quinn, and I’ve read a lot by her. And the pond hookup? Good lord! I was unfortunate enough to be reading that exceptionally sexy part during my lunch break at work and had to come back to it to savor the moment later!

That Second Chance is a great start to a new series by one of my one-click authors. I can’t wait to see what Meghan has in store for the rest of the brothers!! And I loved getting a little catch-up with Beck and Rylee from Two Wedding Crashers!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Such a cute story! I loved Ren and Griffin and the little town of Port Snow. This story starts out with the most unlikely meet cute and from there Ren and Griffin form a beautiful friendship. That was my favorite part about their story. They truly got to know each other and become best friends before even a kiss happens between them. That made for such a sweet slow burn and the pay off was perfect. I also loved Griffin’s family and the small town that was a character on its own. The next brother’s book was perfectly set up and I’m really looking forward to it.

The last few books I have read have been thrillers. This book is just what I needed. This one had me laughing from the get-go, and this fun, light-hearted tone was consistent throughout the entire story. The dialogue was always quick-witted and well-written. I especially loved the Knightly family dynamics. The romance was perfect. A slow build up that while predictable, was so fetching good, you just didn't care. I also loved the small-town setting. I can't wait to read Rogan's story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for a copy of Meghan Quinn's "That Second Chance" in exchange of an honest review.

This is not my first read by the author & I have to say that I dramatically almost cried when NetGallery did not approve my request, BUT JENNY in for the request. It was a moment when it downloaded on my kindle! Alright all that aside, I was excited to read this! If I would have known how flipping awesome and amazing this book was, I would have kicked and screamed earlier! I can't express enough at how much I enjoyed this read!!

The beginning stars of FUN, laughter, joy and celebration. After all the brothers are in New Orleans, celebrating the last brother to turn 21. All fun and games until you land in the hands of a palm reader (no pun intended). After that, all you can do it try and move on from everything. So beware of your heart at the beginning.

Now we get to my favorite part of the book, I kid you not. Ren is the ULTIMATE HEROINE! This part involves a suicidal Moose, one sexy volunteer firefighter (Griffin), a jack-in-the-box heroine & the hero who carries her (almost throwing his back out) and saving the day by getting her a shirt, which she accept in the best hysteria possible. You will seriously love this scene!!

When Ren finally gets down to going to her new place, new town, new START, she get's wit of the Knightly curse. Who believes in those anyways!
Then this: Should I thank him for his services? Ask him out? See if he wants to be my Tarzanlike nurse?
Reading this is like living it, that's how much the words flow and you feel like you're in the story! What I love most about Ren is that she is grabbing life by the horns. The needs and excitement of starting over, it's catchy! She is also the new Algebra teacher! And when Ren finds herself seeing a Griffin look-alike but with different hair all around the town especially places like IN HER LIFE. She is thrown back!

Griffin is the oldest brother who works full time at the Landing a place his family own & volunteers as a firefighter. I am going to give you a sec here...............aaaand we are back. Okay so, not only is he sweet by working with his family, taking care of his brothers and everyone around him, but he also actually saves lives too. What makes my heart hurt for him is that, in spite of all, he carried the biggest burden on his shoulders. The pain unimaginable *sigh*

"Cupid hit my little brother with a giant moose. Oh, this is so wonderful."

Back to new beginning and living. Ren jumps right in, I mean it isn't that big and so she doesn't have a big pond to swim in, but something about Griffin pulls at her heart strings. She just has to learn to not say something stupid every time they converse. There has to be a reason he is always so busy, so many things to do...sadly if she only knew that those things is what helps him not remember or go home to an empty lonely and silent home. *my heart* but these two are so sweet and cute together, the chemistry is off the charts...gah I loved all the side characters too but my favorite had to be the hero and heroine! The story line is SO GOOD GUYS! Every chapter, words just flow!! You'll see when you read it. I look forward to more in the series!! After-all there is 4 brothers and a sister!! (I might be looking forward to Rogan's story...yes/no? p.s. beware SLOW BURN pain, good kind, but I was on my toes glaring at the screen...do it...do it...! Again, the good kind!!

Sorry this ran a little long but I immensely enjoyed this story & will be getting a paperback so I can re-read!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! TOP 2019 M U S T - R E A D !

Another Meghan Quinn book that managed to make my stoic reading self giggle! Seriously so few books actually make me laugh while I am reading and Meghan Quinn somehow managed to do it repeatedly! I love her writing style and definitely recommend checking out this book if you want a good romcom that is perfectly adorable! I cannot wait to find out more about the Knightly boys!

That Second Chance is based on an unusual situation, following a drunken encounter with a psychic while celebrating the youngest of the brothers, they end up with a family curse and doomed to failed relationships. What they take for a scam soon turns more complicated when a tragic event occurs leaving the oldest of the brood reeling.

I adored the small town of Port Snow and the fabulous tight bound the Knightly family have not only with each other but their community as a whole. They support and care for each other through thick and thin, always willing to help even if it is with a sarcastic barb to lighten the mood.

My heart hurt for Griffin and the loss he suffered, understandably linking it to the ‘curse’. He has kept his heart under lock and key, shielded by impenetrable walls and hidden beneath layers of guilt. However, that also means he is incredibly lonely and his fears are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Each of the brothers has their own emotional hang-ups which are exasperated by the hex placed on them. Although only little snippets of their tales are revealed in That Second Chance adding to the desperate need to give them each a happily ever after.

I absolutely adored Ren, she’s such a brave character, having suffered her own traumatic experiences she hasn’t let it live her life in fear. Rather she is determined to take control of her life and live it the way she wants. Being an only child, her parents have been a little on the over-protective side, making Ren crave independence without hurting them in the process. Hence, Ren’s relocation to Port Snow as the new algebra teacher. Even her love of math was cute and I don’t particularly like math.

Griffin and Ren meet under the most unusual of circumstances following a moose ambush; there are sparks between them from the beginning. Plus it would seem the universe (along with Griffin’s family) are conspiring to bring them together. However, Griffin is irrational in his stance regarding relationships following the jinx. Griffin and Ren couldn’t be more opposite in their outlook to how they should live their lives.

Fear is a powerful emotion that can feed upon itself preventing a person from living their best life; overcoming anxiety is a difficult path and will surely encounter setbacks along the way. Yet the reward of facing the concerns with the people who care the most about you, is worth any emotional upheaval you may encounter on the journey 😍

I love Meghan Quinn's books so much, and this one totally lives up to the hype! I haven't read everything she's written yet, but I'm working on it. The last few books of hers keep getting better and better. This one was such a page turner, I hated having to stop, (you know, to sleep and work). She has a way of introducing all these characters in a way that's not overwhelming, plus tie in those from another book. Its a nice little bonus for those who read Two Wedding Crashers. She also writes fantastic sexy time scenes. Not overly graphic, but enough to get the feelings behind it out there, it's more emotional than a lot of authors who write sex scenes if that makes sense. This is a totally different second chance story than what I've read before. I love when it's not a cookie cutter, there's something different to stand out from the crowd and this one does it in so many ways. The humor in this story was addicting, I was smiling through most of this book, yet she still managed to pull a few tears from me towards the end. I could go on and on, but I don't want to spoil anything, just read it for yourself, you won't be sorry. I totally fell in love with Griffin, and all of the Knightly brothers for that matter. I didn't want this book to end, and I can't wait to devour the rest of the series.

Meghan Quinn has put together the beginning of another wonderful series as she takes us to the small town of Port Snow Maine! The people of this town will warm your heart, make you laugh and keep you wanting more!
The Second Chance is the first book in her new Getting Lucky series. Griffin has believed that he had a curse put on him and will never be happy in love, but when Ren literally crashes into his life he doesn’t know what hit him. Their easy friendship became so much more and Ren refused to give up on him as long as he was willing to open his heart up again and move in from his past.
I absolutely loved this book and am so excited for else is in store for the Knightly clan!

There is just something about small town stories that make your heart feel full and this book is no exception!
This story was absolutely charming, just like the town itself and I'd definitely want to visit!
I laughed alot, sighed, swooned and to be quite honest this book was so much fun to read that I had a smile on my face as I read! I just loved everything about Griffin and his family! Holy hotness was that man and his brothers and I loved the way they were with each other! A true brotherhood! It was endearing and I wished I could be a part of the family! Does Griffin really believe the curse has tainted his life?
I loved Ren, she had overcome something and was making a new life for herself! Needless to say when she meets Griffin in an unconventional way, the chemistry these two have along with their budding friendship is something everyone should have!
I enjoyed the hell out if this book and cannot wait for more!
The heart and soul of this small town romance will capture you and not let you leave!!

As much as I can enjoy Meghan Quinn's humorous side, I love this side of her so much more. I fell in love so hard with this book that I kind of had to take it in doses and wouldn't let myself spend too much time with it. That being said I read it pretty quickly because once I was in; there was no getting out.
I instantly fell in love with all the characters, I couldn't get enough and am definitely looking forward to any follow-ups.
This is one of those books that reminds me that I am a total romantic at heart. It's just a perfect build up, everything leading up to these two getting together, and afterwards (and everything after that); I absolutely loved it all.

***4.5 Stars***

Such a fun read, and a great start to a new series!

This one definitely ran the gamut of sweet, smexy and funny to making my eyes hurt from all the rolling they did due to frustration over certain characters issues, but it kept me turning the pages to see not only what was going to happen with Griffin and Ren, but to see just what the Knightly clan would do next as well as the inhabitants of Port Snow.

I loved Griffin. I did. This man is simply a good man. He loves his job, his family and his town and is an absolute sweetheart, but the guilt he is carrying around is insane. On one hand, I totally understood, but on the other hand...the need to reach out and Gibbs smack some sense into him was strong. Then there is Ren. I adored this woman. She decided she needed to live her own life and went for it. She’s sweet, snarky, sassy and even when the awkwards hit, it was adorable because it was all her and I loved how she gave as good as she got and when it was time to throw down, she did.

Their journey to their HEA, for the most part, was a lot of fun ~ and really, considering how they first collided, there was no other way for it to be. The attraction between them was instant, but due to Griffin’s issues, things built slowly between them and I loved watching as they became friends and found that there was more than just a physical attraction between them, though the physical was all KINDS of smexy between them. Of course there is that sinkhole that shows up in their journey. It was expected. It did not make me happy. And though I would have liked a little more grovelling, I have to say that in the end how everything worked out really was just right for them.

Ok, so...I have to admit that it took me a minute to realize that I had been in Port Snow before....like a few chapters in...and that I had been crossing my toes that we’d get to see the Knightly’s again (some #fangirl I am right?? It was in Two Wedding Crashers if you were wondering) But with that said, I loved getting lost in Port Snow and hanging out with all the inhabitants of the town. The small town vibe was strong. And as for the rest of the Knightly’s ~ I spent an equal amount of time wanting to hi five, Gibbs smack, and hug them all because they are all crazy and awesome in equal measure. I don’t have a favorite brother, but I am totally looking forward to Rogan’s book and all the crazy that will be coming!

NO SPOILERS!

That Second Chance was a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, and charming standalone contemporary romance, and I absolutely loved it! Meghan Quinn captured my heart with the storyline and characters, and I loved her writing style and sense of humor. That Second Chance was a fabulous start to the Getting Lucky series, and I can’t wait to read the next standalone, That Forever Girl!

The storyline was wonderful. The plot was unique, fun, and entertaining, with plenty of heart, heat, humor, and swoon-worthy romance to go around. I enjoyed nearly every moment of Griffin and Ren’s story from beginning to end, and was very pleased with the conclusion.

The characters were fantastic. I fell in love with Griffin, Ren, and all of the residents of Port Snow, Maine. Griffin and Ren were very lovable and relatable characters, and I felt an instant connection with them. I loved their personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how most of their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Griffin and Ren’s point of view, and most of their banter and interactions with each other. Griffin and Ren’s families and the rest of the townspeople of Port Snow were amazing as well, and I loved the humor and entertainment they added to the story.

That Second Chance was a sweet, sexy, swoon-worthy, MUST READ romance from Meghan Quinn, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! I fell head over heels in love with the quaint and charming small town of Port Snow, Maine, and all of its residents, and I can’t wait to continue the Getting Lucky series of interconnected standalones with That Forever Girl!

I have said it before and I will say it again, I love Meghan’s books!

That Second Chance is a book that has it all. Humor, heartache, love, loss and an awesome HEA! It is the perfect small town romance story. It made me want to pack a bag and move.

I fell in love with Griffin and Ren! They go together like Peanut butter & Jelly! Ren was infectious. I love her attitude towards life and her overall personality. Griffin was just…perfect. He will have your heart beating rapidly throughout this whole book.

Both Ren and Griffin are going through their own personal struggles when they meet but their chemistry was undeniable. That first kiss was EVERYTHING and had me blushing! No curse could stop their love and I will thank the Moose Gods for it!

I also loved the side characters. From Ren’s helicopter mother to Griffin’s siblings...Especially Griffin’s brothers! They were all incredible and helped make this story even stronger. I CAN NOT wait for the next book!! My curiosity is killing me for the rest of the brother’s stories!

I was so excited for a new series from Meghan Quinn and I was not disappointed, if That Second Chance is anything to go by this is going to be a hit series. What’s not to love about a small town romance centred around the Knightly Brothers well it’s gets better when this very talented author puts her own spin on small town romance.
This book has all the feels and it ticked every box, it’s funny, it’s romantic and it’s set in Port Snow even the name of the town is special, the chemistry the characters share is sizzling and the camaraderie this family share will have you wishing you had a family like theirs and once you add in a swoon worthy hero and a sassy heroine you really get a amazing read.
The story and the funny banter flows naturally but it’s not it’s sweetness and light there are a few bumps in the road that Griffin and Ren need to negotiate before they get their HEA. Can’t wait for the rest of this series and more from the Knightly family.

There is just something about this author and how she writes a book. There is always a depth to the characters that I am drawn to and feel connected with. Her characters always have a quirkiness to them and a strong connection with friends and family. This book was no different. There was humor, love, chemistry, and family. I wanted them to be my friends and family.

I am looking forward to where this series is going to go. I am looking forward to seeing the other three brothers get their story, especially Rogan, but I like them all. My only complaint about this book is I wanted a little bit more back story in regards to Ren. I didn't feel like I knew everything about her. Griffin was another amazing book boyfriend.

This book is still another great addition to this author's ever-expanding backlog of books. She is a favorite author for a reason and always puts her heart, soul, and snarkiness in everything that she writes.

I love a story that’s set in a small town. It has a very familiar feel about it and I cherish the connections they all have between each other. It might make you feel a little lost if you are the newcomer but not for Ren. She even gets to meet the local fauna and flora up close! Even volunteer firefighter Griffin meets her on her first day in town. It could be the start of something special, and a grand story to tell the grandkids, if only things weren’t so complicated.

Griffin was super sweet but conflicted with his feelings. Not only because he wasn’t ready to move on, but there’s the curse and all. Ren is the first girl that even has him looking sideways again and she - with the help of his family - slowly gets under his skin. I loved the banter between the brothers. It’s something I have grown up with, and see reflected in my own boys. I was literally snorting with them throughout the book. At other times my heart just ached for Ren and Griff. I felt she tried her best, but was right to be strong and give him time. Griffin was very resolute and it took some convincing him that he was not all doom and gloom, although kismet played a big part in Ren’s introduction to Port Snow.

As the title suggests, this is a second chance romance that I throughly enjoyed. The epilogue sets up the next book nicely and I can’t wait to hear Rogan’s tale and meet up with the whole gang again.

I loved this book HARD! Meghan Quinn is a queen of rom-coms and I loved every second of this one.

Let me start with the town of Port Snow, Maine. I will admit, I am biased when it comes to Maine because that it is on my bucket list of places I want to see when I die. This author describes this town and its people beautifully and colorfully and I loved every minute of it.

This book had me from the prologue, which I loved. It introduces you to all the Knightly brothers and it is a unique way to start a story. The Knightly family owns a fudge shop (A FUDGE SHOP!) in this quaint little town and is run by Griffin Knightly. The interaction between all the brothers and their sister and the townspeople was just the best.

The story really gets going with a suicidal moose and if that isn't enough to intrigue you, what is? I can't stress enough how funny this book is in parts, but also has great heart and family at its core. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series and get to know the rest of Clan Knightly better!

So many good things in this book! I love when a story is set in a small town, especially one in Maine. The author described this touristy town so well that I want to live there and I want to get to know each and every member of this town.

Another bonus was that the hero had 3 brothers and a sister who all butted into his life constantly. They were a fun addition to this book and I can't wait until we get a book on each of the brothers.

Our main couple, Ren and Griffin were adorable together. As you read in the blurb, there is a curse associated with Griffin and his brothers. Because of this, most of the book is about these two dancing around a friendship that they both want to take to the next level.

Griffin is gun shy and he has a good reason for it. I'm not usually one who likes it if a character keeps the other at a distance but it's a very small distance. They spend a lot of time together getting to know each other and that made me happy to experience it with them. I truly felt like we got a good amount of them together despite not being a couple for most of it.

All the characters in this series were fun and like-able. I'm looking forward to the next book!
