His to Claim was a wonderful read of a husband and wife that are having a rough patch in their marriage. When married to a SEAL there are times that they leave all of a sudden without telling their partner where they are going. They have no idea what they have left behind, in this case Mac comes home with a missing wife, Teri. Teri needed some time away from home because she knew that when Mac returned she had some explaining to do. She constantly had to double think when spending money she felt like she could never do anything right. But the other reason she left was because she felt guilty for something that happened after her husband left. Mac and Teri are going to have to fight for their lives and in the end Mac is going to see that Teri can make great decisions for the family.

I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

As I've learned to expect, a beautifully written and fun read. Jackson writes wonderfully believable stories with flawed but truly good heroes and heroines

3.25 stars.

I had to knock Stars off for the redundancy of information. We were beat over the head with the same information over and over. It was like the information was used as filler.

This story is about a marriage really. Two people who are apart for long periods of time, due to Mac being a Navy Seal, and when they come back together, as husband and wife, they bump heads. Mac is overbearing and too controlling. Teri is doing her best raising 4 girls practically on her own with the occasional help of her in-laws.

I didn’t care for Mac’s attitude. Yes, he means well and wants what’s best for his family, but he needed to give Teri wayyyy more credit and consideration.

I can’t wait for Sheriff Pete’s story May 2020

This was a little different than most romances in that the couple was already married and had children and there didn't really seem to be any serious threat of them divorcing. They loved each other deeply and were desperately attracted to each other. So the tension in the story came from them learning to have a healthy relationship after 10 years of growing apart. It wasn't really a question of whether they would break up, it was more a question of whether they would be happy together or miserable.

Mac is a Navy SEAL who is deployed for months at a time with no communication to his wife Teri. Between his absences and the demands of raising four children they have stopped communicating and Teri has lost her own identity. She wants to reclaim some of who she used to be, the cowgirl that Mac fell in love with, but she's not sure how to do it and fears that doing so will destroy her marriage. This book is part of the Westmoreland series which is apparently Brenda Jackson's epic series of MANY books. Since this was my first exposure to that series, I was a little lost when they referenced other characters. I am sure that fans of the Westmoreland series will love seeing some of their favorite characters again. Kudos for showing romance alive and well in a marriage between mature adults and for telling a story of how the couple worked on taking care of their marriage.

Legendary romance author Brenda Jackson is back with a scorching summer sizzler guaranteed to touch the heart and hold readers in thrall: His To Claim, the latest seductive stand-alone Westmoreland Legacy installment readers will not be able to put down.

His job and his family are the two greatest loves of Mac McRoy’s life. Mac is passionate about his job as a Navy Seal and he absolutely cannot imagine ever doing anything else other than serving his country by undertaking dangerous assignments which take him all over the world. Ever since he was a child at his grandfather’s knee, Mac had wanted to be a military man and he is still as dedicated to his job all these years later as he was when he first started. His family give Mac a reason to return back to his wife and kids time and time again. When Mac had clapped eyes on his wife Teri at a rodeo, it had been love at first sight. After a whirlwind courtship, the two had married and quickly got started on making a family of her own. Returning back from his latest assignment in Libya, Mac is looking forward to hugging his kids and making passionate love to his wife, but he is flabbergasted when, on his return, he finds his parents at his house who tell him that his wife has gone to a Wyoming dude ranch and that they are looking after the kids. Mac is not a man who gives up easily and he will not rest until he tracks down his wife and brings her back home. But is their marriage over for good? Or will Mac be able to convince her that a love like theirs is worth fighting for?

Teri loves her husband, but she is sick and tired of coming second to her his career. When they had first got married, Teri had absolutely no qualms about giving up on her own hopes and dreams to look after her husband, the kids and the family home, however, lately she cannot help but feel restless. She has sacrificed so much for the sake of her husband and her marriage and has grown weary of coming second place in her husband’s life. Going to her roots back to a Wyoming dude ranch was a way for her to take some time out to figure out what she is going to do next, so when Mac turns up she isn’t best pleased. As the incendiary attraction that sizzles between them instantly ignites, Teri and Mac soon find themselves giving into temptation. But is desire enough to keep them together? Will Mac continue to put his job before his own family? Or can they find a way back to be together again?

When life or death circumstances put their relationship to the test, will Teri and Mac end up losing the love of a lifetime? Or will fate give them a second chance at happiness?

His to Claim is a brilliant contemporary romance readers will not be able to put down. Sexy, emotional and far too good to miss, His To Claim is a fantastic tale of second chances, healing from old wounds and the power of love written with plenty of style and flair. Best-selling author Brenda Jackson is on top form with His to Claim and she has penned an emotional, compelling and scintillating read readers won’t be able to resist. With a sexy hero, a smart heroine and plenty of pathos, heart and charm, His To Claim is another winner from Brenda Jackson’s talented pen!

Mac & Teri...

*pauses*

*shakes head*

Okay. I want to start by saying I loved this book.

Now... their marriage was a trip. Given his line of work, this makes perfect sense though. His personality and time away from home would naturally lead to this.

*pauses*

No spoilers.

So, anyway, this story is not what I typically devour. This is a marriage ten years in. And while a lot of the times I feel stories that start that deep in can be missing the excitement of new love, this one did not miss anything.

There was the right amount of excitement. Mac and Teri grew and you could see that they would continue to grow.

I loved that she wasn't trying to change him she was...

*pauses*

No spoilers.

Pick this book up and read it.

Brenda Jackson has quite a pen. I am excited to dive into some of her back list. I have to tie a rope to the side cause she has a zillion books.

I got a copy from Net Galley but then, on that same day, purchased a copy from WalMart because it was one of only two books by black authors in their romance section. Glad to have the paperback because the epilogue made me throw the book.

*taps foot and patiently waits for May 2020*

DNF 10%

OMG the constant whining! Are these two really adults? I get the need for Teri to escape because I've been there, but you also need to be an adult and understand you have responsibilities. While her loss was tremendous, to up and run away isn't the answer.

But then Mac finally finds her but rather than sitting down to talk about why she's hours away from their children, why his parents are taking care of their kids and what she was thinking, they go straight to sex. Part of me understood this, especially since it had been 8 or 9 months since they saw each other. But then it kept happening, without them talking about the elephant in the room.

This is where you lost me.

I loved that this wasn't your typical romance. Centered around a married couple that has hit a rough patch, and whose love is put to the ultimate test when the stakes are raised from love to life. A page-turning, thrilling romance for anyone who loves a heart-racer.

This was the first time reading a story by Ms. Jackson and I really enjoyed it.
Teri was used to being on her own. Her husband, Westmoreland "Mac" McRoy, was a Navy SEAL and left on missions frequently. This time though, things were different. She’d had to make a couple of major decisions without his input and was feeling the effects. To clear her head, she left their children with her in-laws and took off for some time to come to terms with everything. When Mac returns from his latest mission, it’s to find his parents in his house and his wife states away. Concerned, he followed her looking for answers.
The writing was good, the world building was solid, the characters were real and flawed. Both Teri and Mac had issues they needed to work through and it was great to see them come together to get through. I would definitely read another story by Ms. Jackson.

*I received this ARC from Netgalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is a SEAL romance with a difference as the couple concerned are already married and have four children. However, the constant secret missions and time apart are taking their toll on their marriage, especially from Teri's point of view. She's the one that keeps things running at home and when he returns Mac tends to try to take over, especially regarding their finances, but he is always the one the children can get their own way with. He isn't used to juggling the every day activities and, by the time he's getting used to it all, he's off on another mission for an unspecified time. When he comes home and finds she's left their children with his parents and gone to stay on the Wyoming ranch they'd talked about revisiting together he is determined to discover why she's gone without him, not realising the trauma she's had whilst he's been away. Can they listen to each other and rekindle their romance or will tempers get in the way? Will her latest spend drive them further apart or be a chance to get them back together again? Will he even listen?

There's unexpected danger for them both, a perilous natural event that will need his SEAL team to come to their rescue in this dramatic story. This is an unpredictable story filled with dramatic contrasts, heartbreaking at some times, heartwarming at others . . . . full of conflict, then full of love. It is a story that really demonstrates that communication is the key to keeping romance alive and sorting out problems. The suspense element makes this a real page turner and highlights the importance of every member of a team working together - be that as a married couple, a family or a SEAL team. It is a story filled with suspense, peril, action and love - a great read.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Mac is a Navy SEAL who has just returned home from his last deployment to find his parents looking after their four daughters and that his wife has returned to the place where they honeymooned to spend some time alone. Teri knew what she was getting in for when she married a SEAL however she feels that he doesn’t appreciate her or her contribution to the family.

From the moment they reunite there is denying the love and chemistry between them, but will they be able to communicate and make the necessary changes for both of them to be happy?

This is a hot and heartwarming story about love, family and the challenges that can arise between a couple despite how much they love each other.

Mac and Teri have to work on reigniting the flames of their marriage after a deployment separation. Brenda Jackson brings her usual charm and heart to this couples story. She writes of strong brotherhoods and family relationships that are healing and wholesome. A beautiful reminder of strength in oneness of purpose.

I finished reading His To Claim by Brenda Jackson with a smile. Mac is a Navy SEAL returning home after 8 months of being deployed. He returns home to his wife of 10 years and 4 beautiful daughters and discovers she’s gone away for a little break. Their marriage has had it challenges but what could Teri be going through? This story is filled with unexpected surprises, action, suspenseful moments and passion. Secondary characters were great, likable and a supportive team. There are a few interesting lessons and valuable messages about marriage and military wives in the story. I highly enjoyed it!

She's ready to run. He's desperate to keep her. Can they find some middle ground? Brenda Jackson turns love into an adventure. Mac and Teri have come to a crossroads. Save their marriage or walk away. The situation becomes intense rather quickly, when an act of nature forces them to face some hard truths about their relationship as they end up having to fight for their lives. His to Claim is an unpredictable, firestorm that fluctuates between steamy romance and chilly heartache. Turbulent, temptation with a twist.

Too simple story of a soldier and his wife who solve their marriage problems over the course of a few days.

The man is super controlling and the woman is super sacrificing. After being trapped in a cave for the weekend and then seeing her rescue a kidnapped little girl, his eyes are opened and he comes to respect her more.

Fail.

His To Claim is an awesome story, That was easy read that will keep you turning pages for more.

Mac a navy seal, a hot sexy Alpha with a loving heart. Mac loved his family, but he and his wife Teri are trying to keep their marriage together. Mac needs to increase his faith in Teri and what she does for their family while he is off protecting our country.

Teri is the true meaning of “she who holds the family together”. Teri is battling her own fears of loss of the son her and Mac has always wanted, to making a huge decision for their families future.

From the being of His to Claim I could see how much Mac and Teri loved each other, as well as see the battle they both are about to face as a healing moment for them. Mac you see is really trying to let loose of the reins a bit. After all Teri does it all on her own in his absence.Teri needs to come clean with Mac in order for them to make it. Can Mac and Teri come to an agreement?

Supporting characters gave Mac and Teri a solid support system Bane, Viper, Coop, Flipper and Nick are Mac’s Seal team. They help Mac see that he is the one who needs to pay attention to what Teri is saying even if it is without words.

His to Claim has so many plot twist I could not put this book down. Ms. Jackson yet again gave us a story that we can sink our teeth in. Finally we get more of Mac and Teri’s story. They have their issues from the beginning, but can their love for each other see them through this storm? It was truly nice revisiting the other couples from the previous books in the The Westmoreland Legacy Series.

Navy SEAL Mac McRoy has returned home from a long assignment looking forward to reuniting with his wife Teri and his four girls. But he is in for a surprise when he finds his parents at him home with the girls and Teri no where to be found. He learns Teri has left and gone to the place where they spent their honeymoon because she needed some time alone. Mac immediately goes to find Teri and discover why she needed time away.

This trip will reveal to Mac and Teri things that neither of them ever acknowledged and will prove to be very rewarding.

As with most of Brenda Jackson's books that are part of a series, His To Claim can be read as a stand-alone. In this book, Mac McRoy returns home from deployment and his wife has abandoned the marriage. Angry and confused, Mac attempts to put his life together after being truly alone while being separated from his family. Mac pursues Teri and that is when they discovered each others flaws and how to overcome them to restore the love they originally felt for one another.

I put the book down a few times because I wasn't feeling the characters at first. After discovering their love journey and experiencing the chemistry between the two, I as drawn in and truly enjoyed the book.
