A truly enjoyable book. The author was new to me, but I have since read more. I enjoyed the suspense. A very good ride

All Lizzy Miller wanted was to get to Ohio to help deliver her cousin's baby. Hiring a driver - one she had used before - was the safe choice. A last minute driver change from the woman she usually used to the woman's younger, shifty brother leaves her uneasy. When he goes off the usual route to make an unscheduled stop, her unease grows to fear. She's been kidnapped before and held by a madman. She is still getting over that trauma. When her driver makes his stop and leaves her in the car, her anxiety builds. As she goes to look for him, she hears voices raised in an argument and rounds the building just in time to witness her driver's murder. Fleeing the scene, the murderer gets a good look at Lizzy, but she also gets a clear view of him. Can she stay alive long enough to identify the killer?

Isaac Yoder left the Amish when their "turn the other cheek" policy let his blind younger brother's murderer get off scot-free. He joined the local police force to bring justice for those who can't, or won't, speak for themselves. On patrol, he notices a car being driven very erratically. He pulls the car over and is stunned to find a young Amish woman driving it. When he learns that she is fleeing the scene of a murder that she witnessed, he goes into protective mode. As the investigation heats up, Lizzy's life is repeatedly threatened. Can he keep her safe, and if he does, will she testify?

Dana Lynn heats up the suspense in this story and the real villain slips under the radar far too long. I liked that Isaac was willing to help Lizzy, even if it meant returning to his Amish home where he did not expect to be welcomed.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will enjoy this book. There is a hefty dose of faith here, too - both Lizzy's and Isaac's.

This is a unique book. The Amish twist on romantic suspense was a nice change for me and I truly enjoyed it. Lizzy is determined to be more 'forceful' in her life so she feels more in control. While on the way to help her cousin, her driver is murdered and Lizzy is the only witness.

I thought it was intriguing the way the author wound Isaac's story in along here. It was truly ingenious to have a former Amish man, now police officer, be the one who has the main job of protecting her. There are several twists and turns throughout the story and I enjoyed the ride! The ending was great. I love that the author focuses that God needs to be the center and not to center your life around people/a person.

Overall it was a good read 4/5.

I hadn't read the previous books in this series and was really hoping that wouldn't be a problem, and lucky for me, it wasn't! In fact, I loved this book so much I'm going to go back and start with the first one and read the rest of the series.

Lizzy Miller is a midwife and is going to stay with her pregnant cousin to assist with her birth, but it is too far away to take her buggy, so she has to get a ride. Unfortunately, her substitute driver has to make a stop, which leads to him getting shot and Lizzy witnessing it. Luckily, the cop who ends up protecting her is former Amish, so she feels an automatic kinship with him, which is good because the killer will stop at nothing to silence her.

I love the characters in this story! They are very well written and easy to relate to. The world building, especially when we are visiting the Amish households, makes you feel like you're right there with the characters. And the suspense! It'll have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish!

All in all, I thought this book was very well written and I can't wait to start at the beginning of the series and read books 1 through 5.

I give it a very enthusiastic 5 out of 5 stars.

“Guarding the Amish Midwife” seemed like a slow starter, but I quickly became engaged in this novel. The story describes the investigation of a murder, which was witnessed by an Amish woman. Providing protection for her as she assists with gathering evidence is the focus of this novel. It was a quick read, and reminded me of a film with a similar theme, which was popular quite a few years ago. The plot moved along at a spanking pace. The ending presented quite a twist, but all was wrapped up finally. The author presents characters from previous novels in this series, and also provides entry into additional future novels featuring the same characters. Highly recommended for readers who seek a different kind of Amish fiction novel.

Enjoyed reading this! I really like this imprint, and this one had a good balance of time with the MCs and danger that added action and suspense to the story!

This was quite the different plot for a typical Amish romance book. I enjoyed the suspense behind the story and the way the romance slowly developed. I loved Isaac's immediate protective instinct toward Lizzy - like he was drawn to her and not just because of their past.

This is my second Amish romance-if you have any recommendations let me know. It was a fast read with compelling characters. The suspense element was suspenseful and gave me that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach. But the romance felt a little underdeveloped which I think is one of the reasons I usually avoid romantic suspense. I never really felt the love between Lizzy and Isaac-I was just told they fell in love with each other. I did feel/buy the friendship connection between them. Maybe if they had more on-page conversations not related to the murder, it would've been more believable. I would be willing to read another book by Ms. Lynn when I'm in a romantic suspense mood.

Lizzy is an Amish midwife who on the way to deliver a baby witnesses a murder. Isaac Yoder is former Amish and is no a Police Officer. While on duty he finds Lizzy on the run and after a couple more attempts on her life he makes it his mission to protect her. Thing is they seem to be falling for eachother but unless he goes back to Amish community to court her or she leaves her faith and family for him. Its a tough decision to make while on the run.

Not sure how I manged to come across this book normally don't pick up books that have people of the amish community in it just not my thing. But it was a mystery suspense novel and I figured it would be clean romance that might occur so decided to pick up this book. This book was pretty good and it was entertaining seeing the couple of attempts on her life as well as any other that might be connected to the murder. I liked seeing that bit of romance that bloomed between the two MC's. Overall pretty good book.

Lizzy Miller is a midwife, she is hesitant to go with a strange driver, but eventually agrees because he is the brother of her regular driver. But the new driver takes a strange route and makes an odd stop, next thing she knows she sees the driver shot. She takes off in the car, using the few driving skills that she learned while on her rumspringe.

Police Officer Isaac Yoder sees a young woman driving crazily and pulls her over, unwittingly saving her from the person in pursuit. He left the Amish when he was younger, having never been baptized, yet he understands their ways. He works with Lizzy to help find out who is after her for witnessing the murder, Isaac knows that he can’t ask Lizzy to act against her faith, so he finds ways to protect her while respecting her beliefs.

Action packed tale, I liked the believability of the plot and how Lizzy got all tangled up in everything. Lizzy and Isaac make a good team, and I liked how respectful and mindful Isaac was of the fact that Lizzy had been baptized into the church and that there were things even for her safety that he couldn’t ask of her. There were many surprises along the way, and I liked the tension.

Isaac is a good man, and good at what he does, he has a passion for working with the dog, though he has lost contact with his family and his faith. Lizzy is struggles to trust others, after the trauma of her youth, fights with fears, yet clings to her faith.

While a great stand alone, this is the sequel to Plain Retribution, and if you have read that book I think it will make this one a must read, it will help you understand more of Lizzy’s past and reservations. I liked the plot, fast-paced, and it kept me guessing. Great interaction between the characters and I thought that the various facets of the story were used very well, creating tension that left me know knowing how this would end.

The suspense begins on the first couple of pages of this book, and doesn’t end until the last couple of pages at the end of the book. I really liked the unique storyline of this book: An Amish young lady, Lizzy, witnesses a murder; comes face to face with the murderer. It’s up to Isaac, an ex-Amish police officer, to protect her until she can identify or testify against the murderer.

Aside from the suspenseful story, I liked this book because of the main characters, Lizzy and Issac. Lizzy was both strong and vulnerable at the same time. Even though she was in grave danger, she held on to her faith and trusted God. Lizzy’s character gives this book its heart, and
made me hope all throughout the book that Lizzy would come through the danger and find her happily-ever-after. I have not read the other books in this series, but that had no effect on my enjoyment of this story.

This is not your usual Amish story, nope, we have been gifted with a story that has non-stop action, so don’t get to comfy, trouble is right around the corner.
With what was supposed to be a hired ride to her cousin’s to be there for the birth of her child, turns this young Amish’s woman’s life around.
Is history repeating itself, we have met this woman before, and Lizzy survived, but this time it isn’t looking good.
Add in an attraction to a former Amish policeman, and then there are so many attempts on her life! Then, well you will need to read this one, there are surprise bombshells coming! Enjoy this quick read!

Guarding the Amish Midwife is the 6th book in the Amish Country Justice series by Dana R. Lynn, and I have read none of the others before but honestly, it didn’t matter as the author introduced all of the characters and doesn’t distract from the story.

So in this book, Amish Midwife Lizzie Miller is on the way to deliver a family members baby when her substitute English driver is murdered in front of her eyes! Now she is being protected by ex-Amish policeman Issac Yoder, as the murder now has Liszt in her sights.

Guarding the Amish Midwife is a nice romantic suspense, and of course, being an Amish romance it’s a sweet romance, and that makes it a nice change of pace. It is a well-written story and definitely a series I would like to read from the beginning.

Guarding the Amish Midwife by Dana R Lynn is the sixth book in the Amish Country Justice. I loved the story of Lizzy and Isaac. It is a page turner. I loved how Isaac immediately felt the need to protect Lizzy. This read was so enjoyable. The suspense and angst throughout the book kept me hooked.

I was not impressed with the book. The author really did a nice job of writing but the subject matter just was not realistic to me. It is very difficult to read a story about an Amish female being guarded by an ex-Amish male who still relates to his Amish roots...totally contrived. After I read the first chapter I already knew the ending. I am sure there will be some who love this book and I do hope so for the author's sake. I am PA Dutch myself and just can not see this happening so it didn't work for me.
