Special Forces: The Spy is the second installment in the Mission Medusa series. This was a good read. The characters were well developed and their dialogue was good. Zane is a great undercover agent but he has lost himself. I feel really bad for those that seem to get lost in their cover. In this mission he didn’t have to to alert anyone of what they were about to do. Piper was a great member of Medusa but when she returns to her neighbor’s kids school to drop of his lunch she never would have thought she was going to be kidnapped. Now all she has to do is stay alive and hope that when her team finds out she is missing they will rescue her. Zane knows what he needs to do to keep her safe from the men he is with but he knows that he is going to have to hurt her. He just hopes that she will follow his lead and at the end she doesn’t hate him for what he has to do. These two characters are going to have a long journey in order to stay alive and also find the people responsible for her capture. I do have to say that is the only thing that I didn’t like was how quickly the end came and how it wrapped up. I wanted more of the last mission and of course I wanted more of the happily ever after. But I do have to say no matter what I totally recommend this read and I do have to get caught up to this 3-book series.

As I've learned to expect, a beautifully written and fun read. Dees writes wonderfully believable stories with flawed but truly good heroes and heroines

Special Forces The spy by Cindy Dees is the second book in the Mission Medusa series.

This book will have you on the seat of your pants through out.. You may just want to watch yourself one minute you are helping a neighbor the next minute you are kidnapped. Piper is unsure if she can trust Zane but they must get out of some very serious situations.

Wow, this book had me on the edge of my seat. Piper Ford is a member of Medusa, an all female special forces team. Piper agrees to drop off a neighbor’s son at school but must return because he forgot his lunch in the car. A group of masked men rush the school looking for a woman named Persephone Black. One of the masked men takes Piper instead to save the school from being shot up. Piper must use all of the skills she has learned during her training with the Medusas to stay alive. One of her captors, “Amir” is not what he seems and goes out of his way to keep her as safe as possible. Soon they realize they must escape when the terrorists are about to kill them both.
I won’t go into great detail about the story because I don’t want to give anything away. I couldn’t put this book down. After Piper and Amir escape, we find out who he really is and what his mission was. Piper went through quite an ordeal while being held hostage. It made her question her abilities as a special forces agent. I really enjoyed the fact that during their escape, Amir, realizing Piper’s skills, allows her to take the lead in their escape. Once both identities are revealed and they manage to escape, another event takes place that has Piper and Amir/Zane working together to rescue Persephone’s husband from Iran. It is at that point that we find out why the terrorists want Persephone Black as a hostage. This story has strong, capable women, a spy, Iranian terrorists, action and suspense and two people who realize that they can have a life outside of the job and be accepted for who they are. I look forward to the rest of the books in this series.

A white-knuckle romantic suspense novel, Cindy Dees’ latest tale, Special Forces: The Spy is liberally spiced with danger, daring and desire and sure to keep readers turning the pages late into the night.

Piper Ford is a woman with a pretty powerful secret. She is not the ordinary woman everyone thinks she is, but a member of the Medusas, an elite, female-only Special Forces team that has armed her with all the necessary skills to protect herself from danger. When she had agreed to do a favor for her next-door neighbour Susie and take her son Jack to school because she was stuck at work, little did Piper realize that this mundane task was going to propel her straight in the eye of the storm and leave her fighting for her life. Piper might be trained to endure a hostage situation, but when she finds herself kidnapped while dropping Jack off at his elementary school, she cannot help but wonder whether the game is up and if they figured out who she really is. Piper thinks that death at the hands of these kidnappers is imminent, but why is one of them protecting her at all costs? What really drove these kidnappers to commit such a heinous act? And why is one of her kidnappers so keen to keep her safe from danger?

As a spy, Zane Cosworth is used to thinking on his feet. It is imperative that nobody discovers Zane’s real identity and in order for his cover not to be blown, he had kidnapped Piper Ford, a member of the Medusas, an elite Special Forces team. Zane has to keep Piper alive at all costs which is a difficult task considering that the kidnapping group he had inveigled himself in is keen to dispose of her. Thrust into close proximity with Piper, Zane is stunned when he finds himself falling head over heels in love with her. Will he manage to keep her safe in order for the two of them to have a future together? Or will dangerous enemies manage to destroy any hope they might have of spending the rest of their lives together?

Cindy Dees is an outstanding writer of edge of your seat romantic suspense and in Special Forces: The Spy, she has penned a gripping, exciting and captivating read where the stakes are high, the action is relentless, the romance red-hot and emotional and the intrigue nail-biting and heart-pounding. A first-rate tale packed with twists and turns, sizzling passion and jaw-dropping suspense, Special Forces: The Spy is another must-read for much-loved New York Times best-selling author Cindy Dees!

I received an ARC of this book by NetGalley and the publisher. The opinions expressed in this review are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

Zane, an undercover agent is tasked to take down a terrorist group who kidnap Piper. Piper is no pushover & doesn't know if she can trust Zane. Its full of action and some dicey situations.

Who are Piper and Zane? Who are the Medusas? Who are Susan and Jack? Where is Piper from? How does she know and/or meet everyone else? What happens when Piper is asked to drop Jack off? When Piper has to go back, she sees something, what is it? Why does Zane call her out? Wowwie! This was one heck of a read! I cannot wait to read more Special Forces stories. I had a hard time putting this book down to eat or do anything else! What a fun read. Many unexpected events!

RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.

If there was ever a way to start off on the wrong foot, Zane has certainly found it. Piper is no pushover, but when her life is on the line, and she's not so sure how far she can trust Zane, its a question of mind over heart. There were some situations that made me a little uneasy, but nothing crossed any lines. Brilliant story.

Piper Ford is one kickass female! She is a true warrior...forget that she is a female in a very male-dominated world...she could kick most of their asses, whilst wearing high heels!

Doing a favour for a neighbour really shouldn't have landed her in the trouble that it did. But intentionally mistaken identity is the least of her problems!

Zane Cosworth has been undercover for so long, he feels that his grip on his true identity is slipping away from him. But when fate sticks a trained soldier in front of him rather than the intended kidnap target, he makes the best of a bad choice and takes Piper to appease the terror cell. But can he extricate them both from the increasingly unhinged cell?

Talk about fast paced! Zane and Piper don't do things by halves. I loved the concept of the Medusa Team and Camp Vanessa. Their boss is a bit of a martinet but he has a heart of gold under all the gruff...somewhere!

The Medusa team could be made to be very Charlie's Angel-ish but they are a hard-core crew and I loved that they are willing to go out on a limb for each other. There are plenty of twists and turns and whilst the incarceration and interrogation of Piper is intense, it is handled with dignity and there are no superfluous violent scenes. They are all serving a purpose. The worst scene was Zane and Piper attempting to subvert the bad guys, that would be a bit of a trigger for anyone who has survived sexual assault possibly.

I did read this quite soon after Operation Valkyrie series and some parallels can't help be drawn but they are both great stories!

Zane is undercover in a terrorist group to take it down and the group he's with kidnaps Piper Ford in a case of mistaken identity. Piper Ford is a member of Medusa and has been trained for situations like this and knows what to do during a hostage situation but finds that one of her kidnappers Zane is trying to keep her from real harm and even help her. When both Zane and Piper manage to break free and will do everything they can to protect the target the group is actually after while protecting themselves.

This was a pretty good book. I just wasn't feeling it plus there was situations I didn't like and didn't expect out of this book which made me put this book down. Eventually I did get a chance to get over the feeling and just read thought he book since I've recieved this book to get my honest review. This book was pretty good just not for me. There was plenty going on that can keep a reader wanting more. I though it was interesting seeing the two undercover and how they handled situation that came their way. Overall this was a pretty good book.

Wow, who would have thought helping a neighbour out by taking his son to school could result in being kidnapped! That's what happens in this fast paced romantic suspense, the second book in the Mission Medusa series.

Whilst returning to the school to drop off the packed lunch of her neighbour's son, the tranquility is shattered as armed men rush in. Piper Ford is one of the women training to be part of the top secret, elite, women-only, Medusa force but hadn't anticipated that one of the kidnappers, Zane Cosworth, would identify her as their target. He's actually an undercover spy and spotted her wearing a ring which identifies her as being military. He hopes she'll be able to help him thwart the insurgents whilst he discovers their plans but can he convince her to work with him and can he keep her safe? Can they escape unharmed and bring the kidnappers to justice?

This is a suspense filled story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Even when you assume everything is sorted, there are further twists and missions necessary for things to be resolved. The characters are well developed and easy to empathise with and I didn't want to put it down until I'd finished it. I will, however, warn that there are violent scenarios and a simulated rape, they aren't over graphic and are integral to the story, just thought I had better say in case either are trigger for you. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this story - and this series - to anyone who enjoys feisty, warrior women meeting their love under suspense filled circumstances and having to battle to win against the odds.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

3 1\2 stars
Cindy Dee writes a decent romantic suspense story for the summers. Readers can start with this book and know what will happen from beginning to end. The author has a fake rap scene but the female characters still feels the same emotions. The author creates a likable female lead woman can bound with. The Zane the male lead is strong but weak as well which creates a blend of two decently written characters.

The story moves quickly and finished with what readers have come to expect with Harlequin Suspense books.

The story is a easy fast read but also easily forgettable unless you are a fan of Cindy Dee.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Harlequin Suspense for the advance copy of Cindy Dee Special Forces: The Spy

Interesting, riveting in a few parts, but lots of places where I thought, “this wouldn’t happen.”

Still, I enjoyed the story as long as I was willing to suspend my disbelief.

Having a woman be completely equal to a man was refreshing.
