A great Halloween story that will be signed out of my school library for the whole month of October every year. I like how the tree started out as sapling in a tree farm, the tree farm closes, a subdivision is built around the tree, and the tree becomes a place for children to play in year after year. I don't want to guess how many hours my sister and I spend in numerous trees while growing up.

How cute. We need more cutesy, fun Halloween picture books, plus the art is lovely and the kids are a diverse little group.

Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Sadly, I was unable to download this title to my kindle app. I've read the original Halloween Tree, and loved it. I would still recommend this title, because I absolutely love juvenile Halloween books.

"The Halloween Tree" is a cute story for kids. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I'm sure our younger patrons will as well.

This book really caught my eye as I love twists on holiday traditions. This story tells the tale of a grouchy, and not so pretty tree that refused to be decorated for Christmas. The tree hated the lights and couldn’t stand the thought of a star on top of him. Many years later after being planted in a family neighborhood, parents are thinking of cutting the unusual looking tree down. But the children in the neighborhood love climbing and playing on the tree, so they find a way to keep him around. This would make a wonderful addition to a Halloween Library, I know I’d love to have this one!
Thank you to Sourcebooks Kids and NetGalley for this advanced copy!

Montanari has created a delightful story about being different and finding your place. One tree on the Christmas tree lot doesn't want lights, decorations and people around. It is so grumpy and sure of its thoughts that it makes its needles fall off. The world changes and a neighborhood is built around it. The kids play in it and it watches life. Eventually, it does realize it's lonely just as the adults think it should be chopped down. The neighborhood kids band together to save it and create a new tradition - a decorated Halloween tree.
Don't miss the expressions on the tree's face. They capture the mood perfectly.
Use to talk about empathy and that it's okay to change our minds about what we want in life.

This is such a cute book! I love the idea of using trees that maybe aren't as loved for something different than a Christmas tree. This book has humor, ideas for starting a new tradition, and great illustrations.

Ok, so I definitely didn't expect to get teary-eyed while reading this story! I found this to be an adorable, heart-warming story showing that even those with the hardest of exteriors wish for acceptance and love. The illustrations in this book are adorable as well. My students love halloween books and honestly read them throughout the entire year. I can't wait to get this for my elementary school library for checkouts and read-alouds.

Thank you #netgalley for giving me a copy of The Halloween Tree to review. This was a cute story about a tree in a Christmas tree lot that doesn't want to be a Christmas tree. I liked that the tree was different than the others and embraced in and the kids did too. A sweet little story that is perfect for Elementary students.

I absolutely loved this young children's book about a tree that doesn't want to be chopped down and decorated for Christmas. In the beginning of the book, he's every bit as grumpy as Oscar the Grouch and quite the misanthrope. But this is because no one bothered to ask him what he wanted to be instead of trying to impose their vision of his future as a Christmas tree upon him.

After he scares off all the potential buyers, he's allowed to grow into a big, creepy looking tree. His discomfort with the idea of being a Christmas tree stops his needles from growing in, and he soon becomes adopted by a group of neighborhood kids who see the value in a tree that is viewed as nothing but an ugly nuisance by the adults.

The real lesson of this beautifully illustrated tale comes to life after the kids transform him into a Halloween tree. He finally finds purpose and joy. In other words, it's okay to be different, and we all need to stop trying to push people into preordained roles. Instead, it's better to let them become who they're truly meant to be.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC. This review contains my honest, unbiased opinion.

I LOVED THIS !! Any time I read a children's book or middle-grade book I make sure to say I'm not the target audience so, yeah, definitely not a child but as an avid Halloween lover and also a lover of sad trees and all things cute this book was amazing. If I had a child I'd buy it for them in a heart beat and read it to them every night and it'd be fun and wonderful and i love it. It was so cute and such a nice turn of events and yes perfect plz buy for your children

I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. This book is about a tree that lives on a Christmas Tree farm but does not like lights or people. Eventually, the farm closes and people built up around the tree and he learns that maybe he does like lights and people. Nice positive message.

This is a sort of cute story about a tree that is supposed to be purchased for Christmas, but isn't. He is the only one left on the farm when all the other trees have gone home to be Xmas trees.

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-5200" src="https://g2comm.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/the-ahlloween-tree.png" alt="" />

But, instead, he is taken home to just be a tree in the backyard.

He doesn't change his ways. The tree farm is sold, and houses come up and around him, until he is just a tree int he backyard. Or should I say not just a tree, because he is sentient, and understands what others want to do . And the children love having stories in him, and he is loved.

Until the kids realize that he is a grumpy tree, and is perfect for halloween. So, yes, this is a bit of a journey to get to the end.

Cute book about being different.

Thanks to Netgalleky for making this book available for an honest review.

This is about a tree that refuses to become a Christmas tree, so he doesn’t grow any leaves and is constantly left behind in the way tree lot. Throughout the book his surroundings change and so do his interactions with people. It is a fantastic Halloween read!

This was a great book about being different but important. The tree didn't want to be like all the other trees, but in the end even though he was different, he still liked to feel special. The pictures vivid and colorful. The text flowed nicely. The message was important and timely. I think this will become one of my favorite Halloween story time reads!

This is the most adorable story. My brother and his family have a Halloween tree every year and I could imagine this being the perfect bedtime read for the festive season.
The illustrations are utterly adorable and the characterisation of the Halloween tree is heartwarmingly beautiful. The message is brilliant and ties the seasons together really well.
