Netgally Review:

You know what, I've been pretty down on Radclyffe books recently, especially in this series and I have to say this one is the exception. I thought it was interesting, fun to read, and I never got bored. It had a very concise plot and although there were a lot of characters from other books, they did not have a lot of page time or take away from the overarching plot. I would recommend this for a quick easy fun read.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I love Radclyffe but I haven't always been a fan of he Rivers series. This book though exceeded my expectations. I love Brody and the angst that she carried around with her from her past. Val and Brody were two amazing characters with a great story and I am excited to see what Radcylffe writes next.

This one started off well and was promising but then it sort of fizzled out. The explanation of why Brody left was very much in the end and short of tied up in two ebook pages.

We never really got into the action like the author usually does. Only one rescue for each party, the rest was all fluff

It’s nice to read about all the characters in the Rivers series again. I liked this book and can recommend it. I am a fan of Radclyffe. Her books never disappoint me, though some are better than others. This one was good, but not the best in this series imo. Stil an enjoyable read.

Like:

- The publisher: almost always creates great books and many that are centered around the medical world
- ER, medics, vet practice all in one book - authentic and well written as always
- Lots of details to get to know the town and make it feel like you’re really there in the story
- Romance, but need to wait until more than half way through for it

Love:
- Good representation LGBTQIA+
- Romance in the medical field - a personal favorite of mine
- Medical info is well done - always makes for a much better, more authentic read
- There’s a trans character as well

Dislike:
- Couldn’t get into the book in the beginning - I read other books from the same author and was captivated right away. To be fair, I was tired when reading Love to the Rescue so that may have been a factor.
- The tension, awkwardness and almost hatred at the beginning
- Family drama - might be realistic but not enjoyable to read about

Wish that:
- Captured my attention more
- More of a feel good book. It’s not bad, but lately I’m not quite in the mood for drama and tension in my personal life.

Overall, good but not my favorite novel that I’ve read by Radclyffe. As always, I love the romance, medical field setting, and LGBTQIA+ centric characters. I didn’t love the tension and family drama throughout. I would still recommend Love to the Rescue by Radclyffe.

While I love the dynamics between the characters in this series. Every new book the character development of the main characters gets thinner and thinner. I miss the deeper stories of Radclyffes older books. Otherwise, it is a nice easy read for the weekend.

You can always rely on a book from Radclyffe, especially when medical personnel are involved. This book is one of the Rivers Community romances, the books that centre around the Rivers family that set up and now run the community hospital. The Rivers family are very engaging and charismatic and create the secure base for these books. In this book, Brody returns to the river community as part of the new helicopter medical crew. She left the community years before and returning isn't easy for her especially when she runs into the local vet Valentine, on whom she had a crush at school but who barely noticed her then. Brody has grown and recently retuned from 3 military tours so as a Radclyffe hero, six foot, brooding without an once of fat, the vet notices her now... Great story, great characters.

This is the fifth book in the A Rivers Community Romance Series. After leaving her hometown of Rivers 10 years ago, Brody Clark returns as a member of a new medevac crew. Looking to improve their response time to medical emergencies, the Rivers board of directors implements this program.

Brody lived with the Rivers family and was best friends with Flannery Rivers. After an incident that took place during Brody’s senior year in high school, she abruptly left after graduation and joined the military. Brody departed without speaking to any members of the Rivers family so now there are some bad feelings toward her.

Val Valentine is a veterinarian who had set her sights on working in a New York City practice. However, she returns to Rivers when her role model and pseudo father figure asks her to come home and help him with his practice. Val went to high school with Brody and some of the Rivers children, and she does not have pleasant memories of her time there.

Radclyffe always writes a wonderful story, whether it is a romance, thriller, paranormal (writing as L. L. Raand) or mystery. Her plots are tight, interesting and believable. There are not many authors who can write book after book in a series and still keep the story fresh. Because Radclyffe develops her characters so well, they are memorable, and readers enjoy learning more about them as they are woven into the future series books. Although this can be read as a standalone romance, I highly recommend for readers to begin with the beginning of the series. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I was given this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.

Thank you NetGalley!!

While this is the 5th book in the series, you do NOT need to read the others to understand waht's going on, which is great. Although it would help to understand some of the characters a bit more

overall, it was an easy fun read.

This is the 5th in the Rivers series, although you don't need to have read the first 4 to understand and enjoy, I would recommended as these are as equally enjoyable.
Great to catch up with the other Rivers again and see how their lives are developing.
This is the story of Brody and Val, both returning home with their own ghosts.
They are great characters and the story has a lovely flow, Brody being the deep and silent type meets Val a woman who isn't afraid to ask for what she wants and take control of her own pleasure.

Would I recommend ...oh yes Radclyffe does what she always does and has given us an excellent book again

Radclyffe never lets us done. Always a warm romance with interesting side story. This one is a continuation of the Rivers series. You can read it as a stand alone but the characters are much more interesting if you have read the previous books.
This story is somewhat short and simple. A few interesting characters, a female helicopter pilot, medivac crew, veterinarian and SAR dog. Brief action with the medivac team. I would have liked more. The best scene was the veterinarian saving a badly injured dog. The romance is a bit fast and the sex is very soon in the relationship. No slow burn here. The mystery that streams threw the story is revealed in the end and very predictable. A pleasant read but not her best.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

I love Radclyffe writing and even though this was a good read I thought this story should've been more.

I like Brody and Val romance and getting to know them, and we got more of the Rivers family. I just think we really didn't get to really know Brody and Val I thought their backstory was more interesting then the present beside the romance like Val has issues with a her cousin Courtney because of their fathers and Brody cousin Lloyd who has been harassing her which to me we really didn't get a resolution with him.

Overall a good read I just think there was more story to tell to me anyway.

As always this was a well written, engaging book from Radclyffe. The chemistry between the leads was palpable and the romance sweet and sizzling at the same time. It was nice to see familiar faces from the previous books in the series. My only complaint is that the book ended rather abruptly - all that build up and mystery around someone threatening Brody and that storyline was literally killed off in two sentences. I also would have liked to see a few more chapters with the two leads.

3 stars. This book was okay. There was too much back story, and I did not know this book was in the Rivers series when I downloaded it. There were a lot of characters to remember and they were all connected. This story was bout Brody Clark. a vet medic who left the down unexpectedly to join the military at 18. She never explained why she left the Rivers who stayed with and never really told them why or contacted them. She comes back to town to be a helicopter medic and it is not a friendly reunion as the Rivers are hurt that she never explained why she left. Brody meets Val Valentine, a vet who is friends with the Rivers and is teaching the youngest, Brady about being a vet. Brody and Val start to spend some time together and they start to have feelings for each other. They both knew each other years ago, but never spent a lot of time together.

This was only okay for a couple reasons. The first half of the book seemed to just be a lot of backstory and not a lot of interactions between the two characters. Once they did interact, it seems rushed and their relationship moved awfully fast. I did not like that part, I felt like the characters barely talked to each other throughout the book. They did not really change throughout or their interactions seemed to just lead toward sex, it was not what I expected from a Radclyffe book. I did not read the other books in the series, which probably did not help, but this book did not give me a reason to read them either. It was not great and I would not recommend it either.

I like the Rivers series by Radclyffe. I don't love it. But this book was fantastic!! I really enjoyed the MCs. They were interesting with interesting pasts. I loved the unconventional careers and the field aspects of both. The ending was abrupt. Totally uncharacteristic for Radclyffe. I felt it more a cliff hanger than just an end. There were lots of unfinished business. I'm hoping she plans a further story involoving these two.

An accomplished and well told romance. I love the Rivers family, so having a new member is always going to be a treat. Sadly the book finishes way too soon. A lot of stories by Radclyffe do this, but this one is particularly abrupt and everything ties up so quickly, it’s almost an after thought. This weakens the plot and makes you feel a bit of a twit for caring in the first place. It’s a case of “oh well then”, and a shrug, despite the severity of what is supposed to have happened, which then translates to a middling rating.

This is the 3rd Rivers Community Romance I have read and realized I have been meaning to go back and read book 2 about Flannery. This Rivers Romance is about Brody and Val. I really don't want to get into the plot because it really gives you a false sense that this book will be better than it is. Now, I don't think it was terrible, it just was not as good as the others. Here is my problem. It moves way too fast. The two characters really don't seem to get to know each other and before you know it love is being declared. A week for sure is not enough time to fall in love with someone just because you were in to them in High school. I think if they had a better connection and it lasted more than a week, I would have liked this more.

I give this one 3 stars.

This is book 5 in the Rivers Community Romance Series and while we see several familiar faces from previous books you should have no trouble following along if you haven't read the others. I think I've missed a few in the middle of this series and I had no trouble falling in love with the community and the story.

Ten years ago, Brody Clark ran from her the small town she grew up in, her friends, and her chosen family. After ten years in the army as a medic, she returns to the community to run helicopter transport facility for the small community hospital. But she can't escape the past, and she can't escape the attraction she feels for Sydney Valentine. Veterinarian Sydney Valentine recently returned home after years in New York City. Will Brody finally stop running and will the two women be able to put aside past baggage and move forward.

Reading a book by Radclyffe is like having a cup of tea and a chat with your best friend. Easy and happy. Her books just wrap you up in a big hug of cozy community and sweet and steamy romance. Seriously Brody and Val had insane chemistry - super steamy love scenes. All the characters are such lovely people with big hearts, it was such a feel good read.

The story did feel a little rushed and not quite complete at the end, but I guess that just means we'll have another book in the series soon and I'll look forward to finding out what happens next when it comes out.

How wonderful going back to the Rivers and seeing all my friends there. I love books that bring back familiar and favorite characters. Brodie and Val had great chemistry but I felt their relationship went a bit fast to be talking forever. I wanted to know about Brodie's past and what drove her away from her family. Val's back story was a bit vague. I liked the story. I'm wondering who is next. Maybe Margie and Blake?
