this was such a cute read!! i was rooting for alex and jess the whole way through and just wanted them to be together, the dynamic of the houseshare and the relationships of all the characters was so fun - they all brought such a different energy to the story and the group, i loved it. i am a sucker for a slow burn but making me wait 400 pages just for a kiss was torture!!! i felt like this could have sped up a little in places but i really enjoyed the story and the relationships/friendships in this so much

Unfortunately this book was so beyond boring, i found it really hard to stick with. Just a bit of back and forth with the same thing and just didn't have that spark that you need from a novel. Such a shame.

This is definitely a slow burn romance, possibly a little too slow in some parts, but overall it was a worthwhile read in the end. If you like a low angst romance, this is a good choice. The title gives a festive feel but the story spans a longer time period which I personally enjoyed. It's not an unrealistically perfect insta-love story but instead a story of flawed, genuine people.

Cute storyline, with an even cuter cover! The plot itself moved at a very slow pace, and for me, there wasn’t a spark or enough chemistry between Jess and Alex. Overall, an enjoyable read, with a predictable ending, but not the holiday book I was hoping for.

For the first time ever I have actually managed to finish reading my Christmas books before the big day has arrived! I debated making a start on next years books but decided to look back on my kindle books that I ran out of time to read before Christmas last year and spied I Met You in December by Rosie Curtis which said was great for Josie Silver fans who’s novel One Day in December was an absolute delight so I decided to cosy up and dive into this book.
The novel follows a new house share in London where both Alex and Jess have just moved in with three other housemates after changing careers. Jess has moved up from Bournemouth to start a career in publishing, the streets of London are all new to her but she and Alex start up regular walks to show her the sights hidden within and a spark of chemistry is felt between them but can they resist acting on it when the house rules are no relationships!
This was a sweet light-hearted easy read that has a slice of friendships and a sprinkling of romance to keep you entertained. Not so much a festive read just a wintery romance story but none the less a feel good storyline for the hopeless romantics to read.
The storyline is predictable but I still wanted to follow Jess and Alex’s journey from friendship to a blossoming romance as they were both likeable characters who were taking life with both hands and starting their lives on a new path and I wanted desperately for them to succeed.
I did enjoy this novel and I would definitely read another by this author but I don’t feel the storyline had enough going on or enough depth to make it a memorable read.

What a cute novel. I really enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were very complex and the connections between the characters flowed right off the page. I also enjoyed the setting and tone of the novel. It was overall a great novel.

I absolutely adored this book it was so hard to put down,
The story is told in both the main characters perspectives jess and Alex who meet when jess comes to London from Bournemouth to start a new chapter of her life and goes to with her old friend beckys home with 3 other housemates.
This is a wonderful story of boy meets girl girl likes boy but fate has other plans for these two beautiful souls.

I was expecting more from this book. The main characters were likable but nothing much happened the whole time.

Going into this one, I had assumed it was going to be some cute/fluffy Christmas themed read - however this wasn't the case. Although December is mentioned in the title, the entire book takes place over the course of a year. The story revolves around 29-year-old Jess who follows her dreams and moves to London, she accepts a room in Notting Hill house where she shares with four other strangers - it's not ideal but the rent is cheap. On her first night, Jess meets Alex, one of her 'roommates'. Although the two of them don't kiss Jess feels a strong connection, that is until she finds out Alex has started to see someone.

I would describe this as a slow-burn romance, I, unfortunately, felt that at some moments things were progressing a little too slow. I would have loved to see a bit more romantic tension between our two main characters. Speaking of characters, I fell in love with the writing style and how well the characters were portrayed.

In the end, this book was enjoyable but left me wanting a bit more, in the end, I would certainly read a follow up to this even if it was a novella.

This was not very Christmas-y or romantic so I feel a bit confused and let down. The story starts off with promise as it was obvious Jess was attracted to Alex and it seems he feels a bit of a spark between the two of them as well. There appears to be a good conflict right off the bat with Alex sleeping with the other roommate but somehow the story just loses steam and quite frankly is pretty boring. I'm not that picky when it comes to romance novels, I basically just want the lead characters to have good chemistry. Alex and Jess liked each other but there was hardly any excitement and nothing that had me rooting for them to get together. Perfectly nice, normal people but it was a pretty dull look into their lives.

This one just didn't work for me, and it was a disappointment to say the least because I had really been looking forward to reading it. Maybe other readers will have better luck with this book.

Such a cute and fun read! Perfect distraction in life right now. Really enjoyable characters and story and hard to put down!

I absolutely loved this book and everything about it! This is a perfect book for the holiday season, packed with Christmas love and cheer. I truly enjoyed reading this book because it upped my mood and spirits and helped me remember the reason and magic of the holiday season. I would highly recommend adding this book to your holiday reading list; it is like reading a Hallmark movie!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

An excellent 'feel-good' read and one that made me actually like London!

A simple chick lit slow-burn romance told from both points of view. Yes, it's obvious they belong together and it's going to take a whole book for it to come anywhere near happening, but that's exactly what readers of this genre expect. I enjoyed it.

This was just okay. Predictable and a bit boring it parts. I kept comparing it to One Day in December (which I loved) and they have similar titles and covers. I actually didn't find this much of a romance and I didn't much care for the main characters.

The story is seen through the eyes of newcomers to London, Jess and Alex. Both are at a new starting point in their lives, a new career path and a new home. They’re both new lodgers in the of Jess’s best friend fancy house in Notting Hill. One rule of Becky’s house is that there is to be no relationships between the housemates, but this is difficult when Jess and Alex are attracted to each other and have a connection.

The story progresses as the pair settle into their lives, Alex leaving behind his career being a lawyer and training to be a house whilst Jess joins a small publishing house and both deal with new unexpected feelings. As well as story being seen through their eyes, there is also the inclusion of smaller stories. Jess’s best friends Sophie and Gen are a fun injection into the story, as the 3 women progress in lives and the dynamics between the 3 of them makes for fun reading. Also Jess’s grandmother is a lovely character, a kind hearted woman who was there when Jess’s mother was away travelling. I loved Alex, a man who’s at a turning point in his life and is finding himself in a place where he’s at his happiest.

Reminiscent of a Richard Curtis film with a touch of Bridget Jones, ‘We Met In December’ is the perfect book to curl up during the dark nights. With glorious characters, setting and a festive feel, this book is ideal for fans of Giovanna Fletcher.
