A big thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. I believe this is part of a series. It reads ok as a stand alone, although I wondered how she got the ability to talk to Evelyn. This reads as a cozy mystery with a hint of paranormal. I liked the characters. Not sure about Carrie's romance with Dylan. Loved the idea of a library cat -Smoky Joe was great. This was a fun read. Great for a rainy day. 3 1/2 stars

It's winter time and several of the homeless community are seeking refuge in the library. A few of the homeless are causing a disturbance in the peacefulness of the library. When Carrie finds out about the Haven House that is a recently purchased vacant home that was purchased as an establishment for the homeless to spend their daytimes. Carrie offers the committee the library as a meeting place and joins in the planning of the House. When one of Carrie’s fellow librarians dies in a suspicious accident Carrie wants to find out what really happened. During Carrie’s investigation, she finds out there are illegal activities being planned for Haven House. Can Carrie solve what really happened to her co-worker and the real reasons behind Haven House?

This is the 3rd book in the series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone mystery. However, I would recommend reading the books in order for a better understanding of character backstories. The characters are unique especially Carrie and her friend the library’s ghost Evelyn. Evelyn is an interesting character, even though she is a ghost, she still wants to keep secrets about her family even when they can help solve a crime. Another of my favorite characters is the library cat, he just adds a wonderful element to the storylines. The setting of the library is wonderful especially for a library and book lover like myself. The mystery is face paced, well plotted with several twists and turns along the way.

I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

The third book in The Haunted Library series was a joy to read! The characters were wonderfully written, the mystery was believable and I'd love to have Carrie as a BFF. When Carrie investigates the death of a colleague and the murder of her ghostly friend, Evelyn, things seem to change overnight in her small town!

I have always enjoyed the strong and kind character of Carrie. Her dedication to find out the truth, even if it means losing a friend is admirable. Carrie is smart, kind and the type of heroine who doesn't rush head first I to danger. I loved the progression in Carrie's relationship with Dylan and that little cutie, Smokey Joe, was a hero cat!

I'm waiting impatiently for the fourth book!

In the newest Haunted Library book, Carrie is roped into becoming the Sunshine Delegate by her boss. At first this seems like an easy job, but then her first task is visiting her coworker Dorothy while she is recovering from a fall on the ice one night. Dorothy makes a comment that worries Carrie and even though she doesn't get along with the unpleasant Dorothy, she cares enough to try to find out what it means. Then Dorothy gets herself murdered! Now Carrie is really on the case trying ;to determine who did her in. While all of this is going on, there is upheaval in the library with some of the homeless population trying to get warm during the wintertime. There are themes of social issues explored some with this topic and a solution that is worked toward by the town. This is a proper cozy, a well written, solid book that you can spend a nice rainy afternoon sitting on the couch reading.

Carrie Singleton works in the Clover Ridge Library. It appears only Carrie, her niece and her cat can see Harriet, whose been haunting the library since her untimely death.
Carrie is in the midst of helping her girlfriend Angela, who also works at the library plan her wedding. She is also waiting impatiently for her boyfriend Dylan, a private investigator, to come back to town.
Add homeless people and a hospitalized co-worker and Carrie is getting stretched thin. Dorothy the co-worker has secrets galore, and when she winds up dead, suspects abound.
Carrie gives in to Harriet to find out who killed Dorothy, runs down clues and draws a bulls eye on her own back with her questions.
It's an intriguing tale, gathering information here and there, and collating it to make sense.....but how to prove it.
I enjoyed this cozy and recommend it highly.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse.

I love this series and the idea of a ghost in a book shop fascinated me. Carrie has her work cut out for her. Who murdered her ghost? And who murdered her colleague Dorothy? The author has thrown in a few surprises for us. Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Love this cozy mystery. Allison Brook did a great job with this...the characters, settings and plot were great. I highly recommend this if you like mysteries. I totally guessed the wrong person and was surprised at the ending.

I was in the mood for a cosy mystery and this one sounded like fun: "Librarian Carrie Singleton is building a haven, but one of her neighbors is misbehavin'. Can resident spirit Evelyn help Carrie catch the culprit who made her a ghost?" Could be Randall and Hopkirk (deceased)?

I have to say, for an investigator Carrie is incredibly indiscrete! To be fair, I'm not really the target reader but even so I'm not sure a cosy mystery needs to be this cosy! Allison Brook seems to have a serious food obsession, every meal was described in detail. The homeless storyline felt like an episode of Quincey M.E.: couldn't agree more with the sentiments but I was convinced it (like the food and the wedding plans) wasn't relevant to the mystery at hand.

Things improved once the mystery got underway but it wasn't really to my taste.

Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Who knew libraries could be such a dangerous and deadly place? Ask Dorothy who thinks her husband is trying to kill her as she is run off the road after recovering from a fall but she is dead now.

Carrie the librarian and co worker of Dorothy finds herself caught up in things when she was one of her last visitors before the car accident. Seems Dorothy husband might not be the only one who wanted her dead as she had a tendency to blackmail people.

A delightful cozy set around a library and the third book in the series.

What more do you need in this wonderful book.
You have a library,a ghost and a murder mystery . My idea of heaven.
A strong storyline with two mysteries to solve and a few twist added and red herrings.
I wasn’t sure who the killer was until it was reviled at the end .
Would highly recommend this series.

Once again Carrie I’d drawn into solving a crime by Evelyn, the ghost spirit in the library. Meanwhile her boyfriend is moving his business closer to home, so more boyfriend time is near.

Buried in the Stacks in the latest installment in this series, and what an installment it is! Full of mystery, one thing I do love is that the author throws a few curveballs to the reader, one that is not even expected, but that ties up loose ends. I didn't even realize I needed that curve ball thrown in until I read it! Full of delightful characters, this story definitely does not disappoint.

The homeless people of Clover Ridge are spending the cold Winter days in the local library. A library which is haunted by one of the former librarians, Evelyn. When things get a bit contentious between the locals and the homeless at the library, some residents decide to build daycare center, Haven House, for the homeless to have somewhere to go during the day and Carrie Singleton raises her hand to volunteer.

As planning goes on, rumors begin to spread that the center may be a front for illicit activities and those that have invested are merely in it to make money. Shorly after, one of the librarians at the library, who refused to allow her husband and brother to invest in Haven House is killed. Carrie and the police don’t believe it was an accident and Carrie begins asking questions that end up putting her in a precarious situtation.

The desire to do something good in our own community is a caring gesture and it can be ruined by a few bad apples. Luckily good usually prevails over evil. This book is a case in point.

This is the second book I have reading this series and I find it to be a solid series that gets better with each new entry. Great as a stand alone, no need to read the other books first if this is your first introduction to the series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

I did enjoy this one! I liked Carrie in the first book, and although I haven't read the second yet, I was all caught up soon enough to fall back into her routine. I love that she works in a library, and Evelyn's character adds to the story. The cluster of friends and family Carrie is building is excellent, and adds to the quality of both the mystery and how she solves it.

There were two instances that I think could be fixed before full publishing; in the beginning Carrie goes shopping and it says she buys a book for an older child, and a doll for Tacey. Then when she gets to the house, the older child gets an 'electronic game' and Tacey gets a book. There was also a few odd spelling mistakes that were just simply the wrong word being used, so I imagine they will get cleared up before publishing.

I felt like the ending was a little rushed, and I would have liked Evelyn's reaction to finding out she was murdered and by whom. Apart from that, I'm enjoying where this cozy is headed and look forward to more. Five stars, even the little things didn't bother me enough to knock it down!

This was one of the first cozies I have read, and while I'm not a fan of the genre, I could see myself reading more from this author. This had books and ghosts. What a fun weekend read!

A librarian protagonist, a library ghost, and murder in a small town? I thought I was in for a winning story and I’m disappointed that I didn’t like this more.

Carrie Singleton is a librarian in Clover Ridge, owner of beloved library cat Smokey Joe, and friend to the library ghost Evelyn. When Evelyn’s niece is murdered in a fatal car crash, Evelyn asks Carrie to look into the murder and help solve the mystery of what happened to Dorothy.

As with small-town murder stories, secrets start coming out of the woodwork and there are several side-plots that I wasn’t particularly invested in around wedding planning, relationship problems, and a new day-center being built for the homeless community.

I really wanted to like Carrie. As a fellow librarian, I thought I’d have no issue relating to her and wanted to root for her in her investigation of Dorothy’s murder. Instead I found her difficult to relate to, and her feelings about Dorothy seemed conflicting with her desire to solve the mystery surrounding her death. Not to mention her efforts seemed to hinder, rather than help, the very likable lead detective on the case which I found frustrating.

The big reveal wasn’t particularly shocking, and I found the motivation behind the killing of Dorothy to be fickle and kinda boring. Considering there was such a set up for Dorothy’s character not being well-liked and someone who had secrets of her own, I was expecting something more exciting.

Buried in the Stacks was definitely easy to read, if a little boring, and the plot was easy to follow. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more mystery books with librarian protagonists, but I don’t know if I’ll be picking up any more books about Carrie and Clover Ridge.

A Great cozy mystery book containing all of my favorite - cat, library, murder and a ghost. Page turner enveloping the reader until the very end.

Buried in the Stacks is the third installment of A Haunted Library Mystery. Librarian Carrie Singleton gets involved with the establishment of a day-time Haven for the homeless. Little does she know that soon she will be solving two murders one of which is the Evelyn, the resident library ghost.

Aunt Evelyn who was murdered six years ago along with Carrie and her cat Smoky Joe are hot on the trail of a murderer and the ending will shock you.
