Let me just start by saying The Simple Wild is one of my all time favorite romance books so I was expecting something just as amazing from Say You Still Love Me. While I did enjoy it I certainly wasn't swooning over this one. Told in alternating storylines between when Piper and Kyle met at summer camp and reconnecting as adults I was left wanting more substance from the present while immensely enjoying the past. K.A. Tucker delivered on the steamy scenes, humor and reliving young love.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for am honest review.

This book had me hooked from beginning to end and I enjoyed every moment of it! Having gone away to summer overnight camps myself, I was excited to read this and I am glad that I did.

Piper Calloway has a great job as the Senior Vice President of her father's real estate development firm and an insanely beautiful penthouse apartment where she lives with her bestest friend. However, she finds herself constantly battling with employees who think she is a spoiled tart and only holds her position because of her father. Also, her ex fiance works for the company and is one of her dad's favorites. To add to the craziness, Piper bumps into Kyle - the boy who broke her heart at summer camp 13 years ago and guess what? He is her building's new security guard!

The timeline goes back and forth from camp to the present as the reader follows Chloe on her rollercoaster of a journey.

This is a second-chance romance, which is one of my least favorite tropes. Plus it's dual timeline, and flashbacks usually don't work for me. So, I was already off to a bad start with this story. In the past, we see the hero and heroine meet at summer camp as teens and fall in love, only to be parted after a mysterious tragedy before meeting again years later. I did not like how quickly the romance developed and how detailed it got in the past. I don't want to read steamy scenes between teenagers!! Add to that the fact that I didn't like the characters, felt like I was reading two separate books, think the mystery was problematic, and just dragged my way through this boring plot until I got to the end. I'm sad to say that I was So Over It.

K.A. Tucker wrote one of my favorite books of 2018, The Simple Wild, so to say I was excited for her next contemporary romance would be an understatement. She knows how to write stories that will appeal to your emotions and heart, which is exactly what happened with Say You Still Love Me. Reading this book was like an emotional roller coaster I never wanted to get off of. If you love second chance romances that will hit you in the face with summer feels and nostalgia, read this book.

This is my first book by K.A. Tucker but won’t be my last.

I enjoyed this novel from the minute I opened it. Told in alternating time periods, today and 13 yrs earlier, we follow Piper and Kyle as they met at summer camp as counselors and fell in love, get in trouble, and learn about loss, friendship and commitment.

Now, Piper is an executive at her fathers real estate development company when she notices the hot, new security guard working but something feels very familiar. She soon discovers it is Kyle, who broke her heart when he never contacted her after summer camp ended.

I don’t want to give too much away but there is so much more to this wonderful, nostalgic story. Thank you to Atria and Netgalley for this advanced copy. .

YES! This is what I want in a book! Second-chance love story. First love story. Told in present day and in the past, we watch as Piper and Kyle fall in love for the first time. And for the second time.
I felt the pull between the characters, I connected with them, and I found myself wishing I could curl into the pages of this book and never leave.

Well done, well written, and a book I won't soon forget, Say You Still Love Me is a second-chance worth reading.

My Thoughts
This is a second chance romance and I won't lie, I had pretty low expectations going into this book after reading all of the early reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up enjoying this! This story gave me The Proposal/Hallmark movie vibes and I was all for it.

Piper is in a position of authority at a very young age and struggles with sexism and a general lack of respect from her peers and employees. I appreciated that this was highlighted without feeling over the top. Sometimes I feel like this theme can be overdone to make a point but K.A. Tucker handled it with such finesse that it felt very true to life. I hurt for Piper during some of the interactions and unnecessary battles she had to wage to prove her worth.

I really loved the flashbacks! I know this was hot button topic when this book was released because a lot of people were saying that too many of the steamy scenes occurred while they were underage. But I personally felt like it was handled really well. 1) People under the age of 18 have sex and 2) all of the scenes were fade to black. So it's not like there was much explicit detail at any point.

While the tension and chemistry between Kyle and Piper was absolutely palpable, I did feel as though their relationship lacked substance. They essentially see each, meet, and immediately become involved and serious. It felt borderline insta-lovey in my opinion and despite the multiple chapters of backstory, I wanted more insight into why these 2 actually liked each other.

This may come across cold, but my least favorite part of this book was the final reveal/arc about their friend from camp. It felt like such a random addition to the book that honestly didn't bring much to the story or message in my opinion. I also became annoyed by the number of breakups/reconciliations the MCs went through.

Overall I thought this was a fun, lighthearted romance that absolutely screamed summer beach read. I love K.A. Tucker's writing and she crafts such flawed but intriguing characters. If you need a beach read or book to remind you of warmer weather this winter, definitely check this one out!

I had heard really good things about The Simple Wild by the same author, so I thought this would be pretty good, but it ended up being SOOOOOO bland. I just didn’t care about any of the characters.

K.A. Tucker’s The Simple Wild made an impact on me, and I’ve even re-read it since. So when I heard about Say You Still Love Me, I felt like I needed to read and review it. While I did enjoy it, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d hoped to.

What Tucker does well is, in my opinion, craft such compelling characters. Piper and Kyle leap off the page. Piper is a great main character, and I liked her from page one. As an adult, she’s struggling against misogyny in the work place. As a teen, she’s making friends and stepping outside her comfort zone by being a camp counsillor with people outside her wealthy social circle. I loved that the book tackles feminist issues and class issues.

Kyle is also an interesting character, though as an adult the character wasn’t fleshed out as well as I’d like. As a teen, though, it’s easy to see the chemistry between him and Piper. I shipped them so hard.

I think my main issues with the book is, actually, the reason why they lost touch as teens. It was one of the reasons I was guessing, and I was disappointed beyond belief when I was right. It felt like it did the book a disservice. I also felt like the romance when they’re adults doesn’t shine as much.

Say You Still Love Me is a good book, but for me it wasn’t great. I loved the characters, feminism, and romance, but I felt that the conflict was a little cliche and disappointing.

Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for second chance romances or maybe it’s because this book gave me so much camp nostalgia but this is my official declaration... K.A. Tucker I will read ANYTHING you ever write. While I wished we had a bit more time with present day Piper and Kyle, I still really loved this book. I loved the focus on unlikely friendships, which is completely relatable for anyone who’s ever attended overnight camp! This book has one of my fav couples, their chemistry was undeniable!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ *Special thanks to Atria Books for an eARC in exchange for my honest review*

After a 7.5 month marathon reading of a series ender, I needed a book that I knew I could enjoy and get through relatively quickly. Sort of to get my head back in the reading game so to say. Having read many of K.A. Tucker's books in the past, and this one was sitting on my TBR list of ARC's, it seemed like the perfect book to pick up. I'm so glad I did! I absolutely loved this book! I loved that it goes back to the past of these teens at summer camp and then their present day lives. I loved the unlikely love affair that starts between them as teens. I loved the happily-ever-after vibe of the story. It was just an overall enjoyable read and the perfect romance book.

Tucker did not disappoint with this one!

I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I started Say You Still Love Me and let's just say I wasn't in the mood for a love story, so to say I was pleasantly surprised is quite a compliment. It wasn't a mushy love story filled with sexual tension, undeclared love and smoldering looks. This was a modern story of love through the ages. It answered the question if teenage love can last upon a second meeting 13 years later. It highlighted an empowered career women who knows what she wants in life and isn't afraid to show it. It showed that love knows no social class or financial differences. But I think what stuck out most for me was the love can stand the test of time. If love is meant to be, it will still be there through heartache, years and loneliness and sadness, and will find it's way back to you when you are ready for it again.

The story was written in the first person where characters are described directly but both in the present and past tense. The major conflict was a mixture of internal and external as characters battle themselves, other characters and society. Popular themes include character, coming of age, dangers of ignorance, empowerment, injustice, names – power, power of wealth, reunion, self-reliance and working class struggles.

Piper Calloway came from a world of privilege and is set to take over her father’s large company but is unsure if she will be able to handle it. She does not have the respect of her fellow male co-workers who think she is just there because of her father. Kyle Miller has taken many steps to leave his past behind him and the reputation that his family has given him. He has struggled to overcome the labeling that has come with his history and some of the actions of his family. Kyle and Piper are introduced when Piper’s mom insist that she spends the summer at camp Wawa as her parents are attempting to figure out their marriage or divorce as it happened. Kyle has been attending the camp for some time as both a camper and now as a counselor, but Kyle seems to let Piper forget about all the pressure that her last name brings, that is until an accident gets them both fired and a fellow counselor injured. Now Kyle has reappeared as a new security personnel for her family’s company and the question becomes is do they truly belong together or was it just a summer romance?

The ideas were unique and interesting as the voice was individualized and fir the culture being portrayed. The flow was organized and sentence structure and word choice help to enhance the overall story. Yes, I would recommend this story. For those interested in friendships expanding over time, romances blossoming through time, and friends coming together. For those not interested in pressuring through money, males refusing accept women in power of position, and using money to escape legal troubles or responsibility.

K.A. Tucker’s endless imagination and ability to deliver vibrant, unconventional love stories that resonate deeply with her readers shine once again in this gripping tale of second chances and rediscovered love. Both a nostalgic summer camp romance that captures the sweet intensity of first love, as well as a hopeful story of new beginnings, it explores the very real complexities of whether a romance between two people from opposite worlds can ultimately survive in the real world. This is the kind of story that hits you right in the feels and stays with you long after it ends.

I read Say You Still Love Me last week. It probably took me 1.5 days to finish. Whenever I read romance or mysteries, I fly right through them! They also help me when I have a book slump or book hanger (that was the case last week).
.
The book is about lost love reconnecting again. Piper was only 16 when she met Kyle at Camp, where they were both counselors. Thirteen years later Piper is working for her father’s multimillion dollar real estate development firm, when she see’s Kyle again. He’s working as a security guard for her father’s building. The book goes back and forth from present to past. Tucker does a good job telling about the past, while readers are also rooting for the couple in the present.
.
The book was a little slow in the beginning, but about halfway I was all in wanting to see where Kyle and Piper’s story was going. There wasn’t as much steam as some romance books have, but that never bothers me one way or the other. Overall, I liked the book and it got me out my book hangover.

I'm not always a fan of the alternating timelines but it really worked in this story. I mean, who doesn't love a summer camp romance?!! This is much more than a teen love story gone awry. The social class disparity between the two main characters, Piper and Kyle, was really interesting and played a big part of how this entire story played out. The twist as to why Kyle just up and disappeared without a trace from Piper's life 13 years ago was definitely one I didn't see coming.

This would be a great beach or vacation read. It read super fast for me and I couldn't put it down. It was fairly light and very heartwarming. I have really, really enjoyed every single K.A. Tucker book I have read and this one did not disappoint!

This was my 2nd K.A. Tucker book, and I don't think it'll be my last! I really enjoy her writing style and her characters are real and relatable. I particularly liked the back and forth timeline that she used for this plot, although I found myself way more invested in the past timeline than the present. I thought the pacing was done very well, and I was always waiting to finish whatever chapter I was in so I could go back to the other timeline!

Overall, this is one I will definitely recommend to others looking for a fun romance with a bit of an emotional punch to go with it - and I will also be on the lookout for others by K.A. Tucker!
