Engaging and twisty, The Family Lie is a pacy read, that starts with every parents nightmare, and unravels into an intriguing mystery. Great for whiling away a few hours...

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of The Family Lie by Jake Cross.

This is a story about a woman who wakes up to find her five year old daughter and husband missing, and the lengths that she must go in order to find who stole her little girl.

I don't know what better way to say this, but I just didn't care for this story, from the beginning. I didn't find any of it believable, I did not like the interactions between the suspects and police, I never cared about the backstory. Is that a fair review? I'm not really able to decide if it's a good book or not, I just didn't like it.

Gripped me from the start. Was just starting to think it was going on a bit when the twist kicked in - didn't see it coming. Just bought his other book!

Loved the sound of this one and it almost lived up to the promise! Quite a few twists and turns but predictable bits as well. Overall a good thriller but the potential to be even better.

A good thriller and one that keeps you guessing. Tense and gripping all the way through. Can't wait for more from the author!

Umm okay, when I began this book, I thought the plot was rather predictable and in fact I was pleasantly shocked by the end. The surprise, in the end, was the saving grace for this otherwise confusing book. I guess to make the end more shock effective the author added many ripples within the plot, just making it more confusing. I am giving this a 3 only for that end.

I am no longer interested in the content of this book. So, I'm DNF'ing this book for now. I may circle back around to this book one day.

It’s not my typical genre. It was a great read and I couldn’t put it down. It kept my interest the whole way through.

This was definitely a gripping psychological thriller. It kept me interested and intrigued throughout the book!

Reading the jacket description made me believe I was starting a thriller built around a dysfunctional family. The story is so much more! Jake Cross took an often used story theme and pumped some unusual events and characters into it. The more you read, the more you start to wonder where this story is going. A great twist on the "usual" will surprise you and leave you looking for another Jake Cross book to see if this was a one off.

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author to allow me to get a free copy of this book for review. Anna wakes up to find her daughter and husband missing. She finds traces of blood on the floor and the patio door wide open. Anna can’t believe her husband is involved but her family and the police think otherwise. Little by little, secrets and surprises appear left and right. This is a rollercoaster of a story. Good book!

Anna wakes in the middle of the night to find her husband, Nick and her daughter, Josie missing following an abduction!!
Who is responsible and what do they want?
Or is Nick or even Anna actually involved?
A brilliant book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc.

1 star.

This was a let down. The description sounded so good but I found it a struggle to get through. I ended up sskimming parts because I didn't want to DNF it but I also wasn't enjoying it.

It started off ok and was interesting but then at about the 30% mark, it just got boring. The use of the word. "Dear" as a term of affection from Miller was way over used to the point where it was annoying. I'm all for affectionate words and people being affectionate but it was too much.

I also didn't really like the main character, Anne. She annoyed me also. I didn't connect with her at all.

The ending was a big shocker like I had expected from the beginning. The writing was also a bit of a mess and at times it didn't make much sense.

Unfortunately this wasn't for me.

Crikey this one was fast paced and full on. A book with many twists and turns – most I didn’t see coming – its like a rollercoaster! I wouldn’t want to give too much away but the ending is a brilliant.
Its one you need to take great care over or you may end up in a muddle in some places. The book is written in a very distinctive style and it is done in such a clever way leading you in very different directions.
I would highly recommend this book.
